Apple Pectin

★★★★★

Try apple pectin. One to three times daily 1/2 hour before food on empty stomach with lots of water. I did this years ago and it brought it down very well. Doing this on an ongoing basis is a lot better than statins.

Dietary Changes

Katat,

I feel your pain. My husband has been on every statin drug and has had side effects from every one. Now the Dr. has him on a "new" medication which my husband has to inject every two weeks to lower his cholesterol. My husband had a heart attack and had a triple by pass last January and the Dr. insists on getting his cholesterol down. We don't want to take the drugs but my husband wants to keep his arteries clean. I know that cholesterol is not the problem and totally disagree with the Dr.s about it but how do we keep the arteries clean? We eat healthy but the high cholesterol runs in my husbands family and his mother died from a heart attack.

Cholesterol is reduced with the bergamot juice, international studies attest to its effectiveness. The Calabria, in Italy, is the only manufacturer in the world.
The bergamot juice should be natural, no preservatives and sulfites. The bergamot juice contains natural statins.

G: I always take a flush-free form (Niacinamide or Inositolhexaniacinate) of Niacin along w/ the regular Niacin to minimize flushing and maximize effect.

Pantethine and Red Yeast Rice also lowers LDL.

Most important for high LDL is Omega 3 Fatty Acids like Fish, Krill, Chia, and Flax Oils. Selenium and Vit-E work together w/ the Omega 3's to protect the cardiovascular system.

Hello all: ok this is the first time posting, so please bear with me a few years ago. I had to go in and get a check up first time in years. Dr told me I had high cholesterol. I believe was like 140, ok he put me on atorvastatin 40 mg* didn't think much about it. Really didn't pay much attention to any effects, didn't take every day, which with trying to get kids up an going and trying to get out the door my self. Just forgot, really, but so on went back year later another check up. Went up to like 152 or something like that which didn't bother me; it did to the doc though. But at the same time had mentioned I had this itchy feeling on my ears that was driving me nuts.

Also mentioned had a hard time sleeping and some other things which with some older injuries wasn't concerned which make it hard to sleep at times. As time progressed, really then started noticing other things also. So not too long ago did some miner research on the medication I'm on so tried a test. Went off medication for a month or so, itching subsided and some others thing.

We're getting less of a problem some what so went back on it again and sure enough it all started back. Ok had a new visit with doc. or should say new dr in the office and yep went up to 170 and she mentioned that it had gone down to 132 the year before. Mentioned what I noticed and had done asked, about a more natural remedy, gave me a couple suggestions but still made out a new prescription for crestor 10mg* so I'm checking into a natural way of lowering.

Stopped by heath food store in the next town over, talked to them got some ideas to try and found on this site about ACV. I'm going to try ACV tomorrow but with the grape juice idea I thought i'd post this to tell anyone what I've done. I have to go back to drs. in March and will come back here to post what effects comes of it. I'm not going to change any eating habits so it will be normal living situation so let's see what happens. Thanks all for info and good luck. Have a good day.

I'd like to share that in my research I found this:

Link. I have other links that say pretty much the same thing but I am upgrading my server so I can't look it up right now.

Taking L-lysine, l-proline, Ca, Mg, Na, and K ascorbates dropped my Mother's cholesterol 30 points, and she never did build up to the levels proposed in that article. Her Doctor was impressed! Too many ascorbates at once can cause diarrhea, She is supposed to take 3 doses a day but rarely gets more than one dose/day, and still it lowered her cholesterol more than 10%.

The article is dated 2006, and a lot changed since. The cause of heart disease is inflammation, not cholesterol. Cholesterol is like firefighters, inflammation is a fire. Possibly the supplements regime the article proposes reduced inflammation and as a consequence the liver sends less firefighters to fight diminished fire.

Niacin
Posted by Gertg (Tenn, US) on 08/26/2014

My cholesterol was inching upward, so I decided to try niacin to bring it down. I got the flush kind because everything I read said that 'no flush, no action on cholesterol'. The first dose (500 mg) I had a reaction--flushing, itching, red all over. Took about 2 hours and I was okay. The next day, I took another dose and had the same reaction only it was gone in 1/2hr or so. Then I missed several days. This morning, I took a dose at 6 a.m. Soon I had the flushing, itching, redness. Got in the shower figuring it would cool me and sooth the itch. Didn't. In fact, I started seeing spots so quickly got out and sat down. It got so bad that I moved from sitting on the toilet to sitting on the floor so I wouldn't fall. I must have passed out, because I don't recall laying all the way down. I then crawled to my bed and laid there for almost 45 minutes. Finished getting ready for work and stretched out on the couch until time to leave. I'm fine now, just some residual itch. Should I not take it anymore? Reduce the dose? Besides being uncomfortable, that was kind of scary. I am thankful that I wanted to try it when I had plenty of time and that DH was there in case I needed more help. Comments? Thanks.

Posted by Gertg (Tennessee, USA) on 08/27/2014

I didn't mind the flush, even tho it was uncomfortable. What got me was the lowered blood pressure that caused me to black out. I'd like to take the niacin for the cholesterol, but I can't be passing out every day. I felt weak all day after that yesterday. I can get some lower dose niacin and start on that, but wow, I wasn't expecting to faint.

I've started niacin + vit C. Per Dr Saul, you do equal parts of each but my niacin flush occurs with such a small dose that I'm doing the vit c much higher. I'm taking maybe 70 mg niacin 3x/d and a total of 1000 mg of c. Very low, but I can tolerate it easily enough. My question is this: for niacin to work for cholesterol, you must feel the flush? I get a pretty good flush w/ this dose and hope for it to become more moderate by the time the long weekend is over--don't want to explain at work why I'm so red. Thanks all.

In regards to "I don't know why people get heart disease". It is real simple. The people who have clean arteries will not get heart disease. Doesn't matter what their cholesterol reads, what their blood pressure is etc. The arteries need to get cleaned. The way to clean them is with fibrinolytic enzymes. Look at the research China has done on Lumbrokinase.

Falsified research on beta blockers exposed. Doctors are still prescribing them. If you are on them, look into Nattokinase (or Lumbrokinase) and vitamin K2 (ML4). Below is the story.

...Patients undergoing surgery are routinely given a beta-blocker in order to reduce stress on the heart—but the research that led to the adoption of the practice was falsified, and doctors reckon that 800, 000 people have died as a result.

Beta-blockers, which are antihypertensives for lowering blood pressure, increase the chances of dying from a stroke or hypotension (dangerously low blood pressure levels) by 27 per cent.

Right now I just want to control what I eat to slowly lower my cholesterol. Just wonder if Prioris from FL still doing ok with very high cholesterol that doctor will think.

Understanding Cholesterol Jumps
Posted by Robin (Rural Va) on 01/03/2014

Help me understand this. I recently had labs done, and had a 70 point jump in cholesterol since my last labs about a year ago. It went from 190 to 261. I don't have the breakdown, as it was a conversation with a nurse over the phone. I am 55 and just in menopause. I am currently not exercising, but during the spring and summer I walk 3 to 6 miles a day. I am not totally sedentary; I am a special education teacher, and walk from one end of the campus to the other several times a day. I recently lost 20 lbs, and am not overweight. I eat a fairly natural diet. However, I did have the labs done during the holiday when I had been eating fudge, and other holiday goodies. Would this cause the difference?

I have just been looking over the Cholesterol pages, and these are the things that I am already doing: Eat oatbran with EVCO every day. I take niacin 1,000, everyday. I take fish oil, and Evening Primrose Oil. I cook only with Coconut oil, and don't even have vegetable oils in my house. I sweeten my oatbran with BSM. I drink green tea at least once a day; any more than that makes me feel dehydtrated. I never drink sodas.

About two weeks ago I did the gall bladder cleanse with Olive Oil and lemon juice, and epsom salts, due to a pain under my ribs on right side that lasted two days.

I feel like I am doing pretty good for my age. I do have sciatic pain, and have just started having hot flashes, and have had insomnia for about 10 years.

I have read the comments that we should not be worried about our cholesterol. My concern is why the increase when I am already doing things that should prevent it. These things I do were not done to prevent high cholesterol, but for overall health.

Dr. wants me to go on a lowfat diet and recheck in 6 months. I feel I am already on a lowfat diet, except for the this holiday period. Any suggestions or explanations would be appreciated.

I agree that it's probably the holiday eating. I had the same thing happen to me--jumped very high. I'm in the same situation as you, menopause/insomnia/eat fairly well/exercise enough/weight ok. I fasted for 12+ hours before my last test, but the several days prior we had been out of town and you have to eat what your host presents to you and it was all fried/high fat/high sweets. I'll know better next time to eat right the entire week or so before the text. I take niacin for insomnia, eat oats, only use evco, eat very well, etc. There was absolutely no other reason for it to have gone up like it did. The only difference I am doing now is eating at least 1 apple/day. This is because I read that a pink lady apple helps prevent ulcers, so for a different reason and the pectin will help with cholesterol.

Hello. I am trying to reduce my bad cholesterol. I am taking CoQ10, vit E, niacin, vit D3, glutathione and the occasional red rice yeast. The rry dose says 1 gelcap 3X/day. I take 1 and get a cramp in my calf. If I take 1/d, the cramp lingers and I get a cramp in both feet. So, I take 1 only every several days. I eat mainly vegetables, but do not have 100% control over my diet--my retired spouse does the cooking and starts off by putting oil into a frying pan, only then figureing out what will be cooked. I leave the house at 5 am and get home at 7 pm, so not much time to prepare food myself or even shop for fresh items. I do the best I can, eating oats every day, an apple a day, raw carrots with my lunch, etc. Should I be doing anything else? I was on statins years ago and still feel like I have foot pain caused by statins, That's why the glutathione. Please tell me what else to do.

Rick: Eating cooked regular food and taking supplements is what I did. The solution is eating the best foods the right way. I take the concentrated powders because they are easier and less costly. They can be purchased on the internet. I take raw honey, whole dried cane, date, and palm sugars, and activated barley for carbs. I take 20g coconut oil, 30g black chia seeds, and 1tsp sesame oil for fats. I take hawaiin spirulina, chlorella, nondefatted dessicated liver, raw cocoa powder, and nondenatured whey isolate for protein. I take absorbable colostrum, skate liver oil, 90, 000hu cayenne, cold processed maca, yucca powder, high mountain hand harvested cold water extracted shilajit, 17 mushroom extract blend from Washington, thai fish sauce that has been fermented for 2 years, organic tomato paste, home brewed water kefir, and vanilla bean for special goodies.

Hi Rick,

I started out taking a multi vitamin, then added 2000 mg of C, then L-Lysine, then Glucosamine/Chondroiin. I was up to 9 pills a day. I was spending a ridiculous amount of money... and I didn't feel really any different.

Try using ONLY extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil!! Take a moment and look up all the wonderful health benefits of coconut oil, as this will help you determine the best way to use it for you (really quite amazing stuff) It is wonderful to cook with, so your wife can start with coconut oil in the pan. you can also use a tsp. in your coffee every day! It will lower your bad cholesterol and raise your good. It is also wonderful for keeping your body hydrated from the inside out (or from the outside in as it makes for a wonderful skin moisturizer). Sometimes its good to wipe the slate clean and start with one thing at a time (unless it's prescribed by your doctor) Try it for at least 3 weeks. see if you notice a change (other than the extra change in your pocket! ) Please check with your doctor. Banana's are also sometimes good for leg cramps (potassium)

Rick: If all these good things you're doing isn't working, you may want to try a gallbladder cleanse as gallstones will not allow the liver to properly metabolize cholesterol. If you do remove a bunch of gallstones (which are mostly ldl cholesterol accumulated), you can expect a significant drop in ldl. After this, take triple strength lecithin to prevent any more cholesterol gallstone formation.

About 5 years ago, my dr put me on zocor for cholesterol. I was on it for about 6 months and stopped because I developed neck pain--like a stiff neck, but never got better. A short time after that, my gastro dr put me on something for my ulcer, I don't recall the name, but the neck pain increased and so I got off it pretty quickly. I still have the neck pain--I take a good bit of astaxanthin for the pain, which helps but I still have the pain. During all this time, I also had pain in both large toes. This pain is not in the joint (not gout), but lengthwise up the center of the largest part of the toe. I'm thinking peripheral neuropathy? Comments, anyone? Do you think this is still from the statins? What should I do? I take the astaxanthin, 4 mg 4x/d, d3, calcium/magnesium tablet, and a multivitamin daily. Can someone ever overcome the longterm effects of statins? Thanks.

Maybe I am drinking too many lemons. I watched a video from Andrias Moritz once and he said to drink two whole lemons a day... no water...for an extended amount of time..

Elaine,

There is a Yahoo Group for people who have permanent damage from statin drug use. Most of the people only took statins for a short period of time, yet sustained significant permanent damage that has altered their lives. Most were very active, health conscious people who are now living with severe muscle damage, autoimmune diseases and memory problems. These adverse reactions are usually not reported by our doctors, so the number of people affected is not known. The group can be found here:

http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Stopped_Our_Statins/info

Someone at this site may be able to give advice. Those who have seen doctors specializing in statin damage have reported they take a certain kind of absorbable CoQ10 and high doses of fish oil. Best wishes.

Elaine: Swanson Foods has one, as well as Vitacost L-Glutathione Plus CoQ10 -- 250 mg - 60 Capsules. This will definitely up your energy and help detox any residual statin metabolites, but do also try the other recommends I posted previously as it seems you will need more than just gth/coq10. Eat 2 or three Brazil nuts for selenium to boost the gth/coq10.

Are you vegetarian? Do get some quality protein in the diet.

Something else that will definitely help straightway, is a good hot bath w/ 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup epsom salt. This is very good detox and muscle helper. Potassium is also recommended to improve the electrolyte status which helps the neuromuscular action.

Hoping on some good news from you.

Thanks, Timh. I eat what I consider a pretty good diet. I have chickens and have had them tested for salmonella, so I can eat raw eggs and generally eat 2/day. I also was given a gift of 1/2 an organically grown, grass-fed steer for Christmas, so have high quality angus beef to eat (I don't eat much red meat). I eat lots of avocados and use coconut oil exclusively when cooking, try to use lots of herbs and spices (ginger, garlic, tumeric, etc) in my foods. Not a lot of fresh veg's b/c they are now out of season and my local farmer's market has closed, so mostly frozen. thanks for the assist, will start bs & empsom salts baths. I ordered a seperate coQ10 and glutathione and will commence when they arrive. Thanks again.

Allow me to add some more info on the ongoing Statin discussion.

Several months ago my almost lifelong normal cholesterol reading spiked considerably as well as triglycerides. Dr. gave me free samples of a Statin. Being cautious and very much not wanting to even give them a try, I asked for a prescription for Cholestramine (a fiber powder supplement). Unfortunately the grand marketing scheme must bow to the taste and fancy of the populace so they add sweeteners and such (which irritates my stomach). Last thurs I go back to Dr. and check high on the C and very high on the T once again.

Sure I buy into the theory that cholesterol is good and even necessary BUT, like sugar, too much is dangerous; so I try half an 10mg Atavastatin and 8 hrs later the other half. Next day take one tab.

At this point it is necessary to note that I am going thru extreme oxidative stress induced by free radicals that's been prominent factor in a lengthy environmental disease. Prior to the Statin, I was rendered almost non functional and was in need of personal assistance. I spent most time in bed and lost almost all appetite and energy ... until I began the statin. Three, four days later I am very much improved and completely out of the semi crisis situation of which I had plumbed. I need to also state that I show many obvious symptoms of a mycoplasma infection that could be considered somewhat severe.

OK, that's the good news. The Statin seems to have gone a long way toward correcting a fatty acid metabolic disorder complicated by a mycoplasma infection (as we know mycoplasma feeds on cholesterol). I witnessed a substantial decrease in chronic diarrhea the two days of Statin.

Now for the bad news. I also noticed a marked increase in my Peripheral Neuropathy (lower extremities). After only a few minutes of research, I find that Statins do cause P.N. in a small percentage of the population. And if that isn't enough, I also find the same small (5%) suffer pulmonary fibrosis (of which I have some obvious symptoms but no diagnosis for almost 20 yrs.). My P.N. seems some better today so I am not fearing anything permanent here, as I only took 2 tabs.

Anyway, I am going to give the Red Yeast Rice a trial as there seems some big potential for correcting the fatty acid metabolic disorder and inhibiting mycoplasma (especially in the liver and gut) as well as lower the cholesterol and triglycerides.

Prioris: Thanks for your feedback. A little more detail may help.

A 20yr undiagnosed atypical pulmonary fibrosis has left me w/ a terribly toxic body and almost dead on more than one occasion despite all efforts to regain health. Pulmonary Fibrosis is notorious for reducing the ability of the body to produce Glutathione. I have only recently began homemade oral liposomal gth w/ good results, but there is obviously much more to do. Also, as for antioxidants, I am going to create a mixture of several fat & water soluble anti's for liposomal encapsulation which, in theory, should provide the antioxidant protection I have not been able to achieve by standard oral.

The substantial decrease in diarrhea from only 2 days on Statin is a definite tip on some type fatty acid metabolic disorder. The Red Yeast Rice should produce the same effect w/ no bad side effects. Inhibiting the cholesterol in the liver seems to be preventing the overgrowth of the myco in the gut.

From what I've read, a severe mycoplasma infection may take up to 6 or more months Doxycycline and may need rotating w/ other cycline antibiotics. I tried liposomal berberine w/ no noticeable improvements. Borax baths help. Colloidal Silver nebulized kills the mycoplasma from the lungs for maybe 2 or 3 wks, then repeat.

I have taken systemic enzymes in the past and am now taking Nattokinase 2 caps daily.

Cholesterol Testing

My cholesterol has gone way up. I'm not too concerned, but does what I eat for several days before the test make a difference? I had fasted for at least 12 hours, and what I ate the meal before that was vegetables that had been steamed and had only sea salt on them. I'm not a big eater, 5'6" 120 lbs, but it went up 60 pts from 6 months prior. Just wondering.

Hello Mike 62,

You mention the superiority of raw proteins as opposed to cooked; which do you use to get to the 10 percent of total intake? Thanks for your informative posts (all your posts are informative).

Dave

Dave: 10g hawaiin spirulina, 5g chlorella, 10g non defatted dessicated liver, 30g black chia seeds, 150g raw organic buckwheat flour, 30g raw organic cocoa powder, 5g absorbable colostrum, and 10g raw whey isolate gives me 67g raw protein. The biological value ranges from 160 for the whey isolate to 50 for the buckwheat. I am always glad to assist all the caring people at admirable E.C.

Cholesterol: Could not find the post I was reading yesterday that talked about milk thistle for curing the liver damage? Can anyone suggest about it. Also, b/w sunflower lecithin or soy lecithin which is better? Where can we find milk thistle and sunflower lecithin and how do we take it? Indeed a v. helpful and a great site for natural cures.
