Lucky me I did not caught flu this winter, but spring came with tonsillitis, high fever and excessive dry cough, no phlegm, no chest pain but I could not sleep at nights for a week because of the cough.

I knew I can get rid of the tonsillitis in two three days just with cayenne, I did not know the lungs are affected and I panicked when the tonsillitis past and the cough was still there and was getting worse, so I went and I bought dry garlic, ginger, oregano, more cayenne and apple cider vinegar, all together under ten dollars, do not buy them in pill form, they are way more expensive, I buy them by pound from Bulk Barn in Canada, or even better if you can buy them fresh at your local grocery store.

I took for three days one cup of mint tea mixes with two-three spoons of apple cider vinegar,

and one or two cups a day of water mixed with half to one teaspoon of garlic, ginger, oregano and cayenne. Start with half a teaspoon of each, it's quite strong the mixture, if it's making you nauseous have some apple or peach handy, that will help. it did not made me nauseous, but I can't tolerate very well the hotness of cayenne, I will recommend the mixture on regular basis to flavor veggies and, or meat when you are cooking.

WORKED TEMPORARILY

I seem to manufacture mucus-- a lot. The drainage never stops. It has been this way for a couple of years. I do get relief with ACV, but if I stop taking it, the cough returns. ANY ideas, help, advice-- PLEASE.

I tried the apple cider vineger for a nasty cough I've had for almost 2years. And it has made the biggest differents in my life. Don't get me wrong I still cough sometimes but nothing like I did.It has been wonderful not to have to worry about coughing a lung up while out doing errands. I feel great.

Timh

I agree with you. I take iodine everyday. I will check into the other things you mentioned.

I am very interested in Mullein and other natural healing herbs. I think I have id'ed some but not exactly sure plus the stuff I found is near a road and probably not so fresh.

Thanks for the info.

Joy, Thank you!

Editors, Thank you!

Chronic Cough Causes
Posted by Daryl (Florida) on 06/28/2018

Yes, but not everyone has horror stories or the side effects you are speaking of. You can google any drug and find horror stories if you look hard enough. Lisinopril has helped me greatly with my blood pressure without side effects. I am thankful my doctor put me on it. Speaking about your own experience is fine, but generalizing I don't appreciate.

Avoid Olive Oil

Om, one way to know what you are getting, is simply to smell it. That's a good test for virgin olive oil and for real coconut oil. (If you can stomach the "real thing" that is...)

Chronic Cough and Excessive Mucus

Have you tried Stinging Nettle Leaf? It is considered a natural antihistamine. I take capsule form which really helps with post nasal drip or runny nose. A good brand is one by Wild Harvest. I always carry some in person because it's great for cold/allergy symptoms! I hope this helps you.

I recently had Strep, and had to receive antibiotics. After the antibiotics, I was left with a dry cough; a tickling in the brochial tubes that led to unproductive coughing. I tried ACV, which seemed to quiet my need to cough without actually removing the source of irritation.

MY main problem, though, was that whenever I took the ACV, it was followed by a powerful and overwhelming lethargia and a need to just sleep.I felt like I'd been drugged. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone (Tim?) know why this is happening? I obviously can't take ACV unless the reason for this is determined.

Thymuril

I have had a persistent cough for years. Years before that I was diagnosed with leaky gut and then I reduced my Candida problem with Greys formula. I have a degree in human biology and for the cough tried many vitamins and minerals. None helped except a spleen polypeptide product that no longer is made. I did find that Thymuril by integrative therapeutics works too. Spleen or thymus polypeptides are the key. The cough can be very powerful and unrelenting if I do not take the Thymuril. For those who understand embryology the bronchials are getting the referred irritation from my esophagus. Like the gallbladder refers pain to the shoulder. The heart refers pain to the left arm etc. Later I had an endoscopy done to deal with a esophageal ring that had formed. The doctor also diagnosed EE. The only thing that keeps the cough well under control is the Thymuril. Other spleen and thymus extracts do nothing. I do not think it cures but controls so the real problem is with allergies and whatever is still causing that. Perhaps leaky gut is still around. I believe that elimination is fine for quick relief but for some people the list of foods grows and it would be better to find out what is causing the problem so the list can be cut down. I fear that cutting out foods will cause other deficiencies in time.

Apple Cider Vinegar

I have had a chronic cough for over 2 years and after going to all kinds of doctors, having a chest xray for lung cancer, allergy tests etc I was told I had acid reflux and to go on Prilosec. After reading about it I declined and have put up with the cough. I look forward to trying Apple Cider Vinegar on a regular basis. I don't mind the taste and will post my results in the future.

Bad Teeth Caused Chronic Cough

My mother had the same for about 3 years. This was caused by her teeth. She had a bridge for 30 years and had a bad tooth. She had it pulled and no more problems. She also changed her blood pressure tablets. Read the side effects of the medication. Oil Pulling will be a good idea.

Eliminate Artificial Sweeteners

I had a recurring dry cough for over fifteen years until I read that it may be a side effect of artificial sweeteners. I cut way back on Diet Coke (1-2 small glasses per week) and within a couple weeks it disappeared.
