Terrible diarreha as of late. Doctor thinks it is a form of colitis. It got so bad I couldn't leave the house. Took Apple cider vinegar 2 teaspoons in water 2x a day. Then Tumeric 1 teaspoon in water. 2x a day. pow! It stopped. Then went on to make sure. Kefir fortified with 10 billion acidophilis 2x a day. No more rumbling and colon sensitivity has subsided. Then went on to a pinch of allspice in warm water before bedtime. I went after this think with both barrels. Have not been bothered since. I think that it was a yeast infection in the intestines. They can not screen for a yeast infection unless it has gotten into the blood stream. At which time you are in serious trouble.
Manifested:
ringing in ears
diarreha
sensitivity in colon
outbreaks of eczema
skin rashed that came and went.
Itching in the ears. A nagging cough.
Cough is still there, it has only been 2 days now, but it is subsiding. Oh yes, outbreaks of atheletes foot, from time to time.

Dear Chris, as a parasitologist, I think you got Entamoeba. Histolytica or E. Coli. Entamoeba. Histolytica is a very dangerous nasty protozoa. It destroys the tissues that is why it is called Histolytica. The best treatment is 2 grams of tinidazol for 4 days followed by an amoebicidal agents like paromomycine or diloxanide for 10 days to kill the cysts. Reinfection may occure and you have to take extra steps in washing your hands and cleaning your toilets.
S.boulardii might help.
In case of E. coli which is a bacteria known as the traveler bacteria, the approach is different.

Boiled Milk

This quick, safe and easy "cure" for diarrhea is ideal for adults, children and even babies. It is a remedy passed down through generations and never fails. I've used it myself, for my son, my husband and just about everyone I've ever known has found relief. What is it? Boiled milk. Simply measure out a cup of regular milk on the stove (not in the microwave) and bring just to a boil. Allow to cool and remove the skin off the top. You can drink it while it's still a bit warm. Ideally you would use 2% milk or even homo (skim milk might be too 'thin'). If you have diarrhea with gas, nausea and/or lots of gut noises, add a few pinches of ginger powder to the milk while heating it. For babies, they should be at an age where they can drink cow's milk. A cup of boiled milk should be enough for anyone at any age and you can drink as much as you want. Why the milk works only when boiled is a mystery to me - but it's easy enough for anyone to try and tastes good too. Results should be within an hour or less.

I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar in a last ditch effort after not having relief from several doses of Pepto. After researching the internet, I found this site and decided to try the ACV. My stomach stopped turning within about 15 minutes.
I took several doses of 2 tablespoons in 8 ounces of water. I did this for several days until I didn't have a weak stomach. I'm not sure if I should have taken it that often, but I did what I needed to. I've reccomended this to my co-workers who all think I'm crazy, but it works!
Thank you for posting, I'm so glad that I tried the ACV. (I've also read on this site that ACV will help to lose weight, if you use it sparinglty. I've not tried this, but thought I would share my new insight.) Thank you!

I've been a fan of earth clinic for almost 2 years now, and finally I can contribute to the feedback! About 3 hours ago I had horrible cramping in my belly. So I went to the bathroom, and lo and behold I had a bad case of diarrhea. I had to go a couple of times. However, I still didn't feel 100% after. So I started thinking about what I ate or if my dog being sick vomiting earlier had anything to do with it. Naturally, I went right here to look up remedies for diarrhea, and good old apple cider vinegar came up! I already had a bottle of organic ACV with the mother (I know.. don't mention labels.. lol), which I have been taking on and off for the last year and half. I took 2 tbls with a glass of water about an hour ago, and now I feel great! Where there was an uneasy feeling and gnawing pain in my lower abdomen, now is replaced by a relieving and soothing, almost cooling, sensation. And NO MORE DIARRHEA... WHAT A RELIEF!!! =D

This will probably stump everyone, but I have had bad 'rhea for over 20 years. It has hindered my life, in a way, that I won't date or travel with anyone. I've been to the doctor and a few days ago given a prescription for a stomache infection because I was cramping. Medication is done and I still have the rhea and the cramping. I have not eaten or drank a thing today and it started out semi-solid and within 4 trips to the bathroom, it slowly went right back to the 'rhea. I can't even tell you how this has taken over my life. I am afraid to go places and when I do, I know where the bathrooms are on my route. PLUS, I have now gotten as low as buying adult diapers and bringing extra clothes with me even when traveling within my own town. I am going to try the Tumeric but I'd like to know, is it good for just a day or will it keep it away?

I had a stomach problem similar to yours some years ago (most things I ate gave me a terrible stomach ache and diarrhea.). I suffered from this condition for more than an year, and did not find relief with allopathic treatment. Finally what cured me completely is Ayurvedic treatment. It was a simple treatment and gave me complete relief in a few weeks.
The ayurvedic treatment just comprised of having a couple of medicines (one kashayam(potion) and 1 leham(a paste)) couple of times a day for around 3 months. The kashayam was to clear out infections and soothe the stomach, whereas the leham was to aid digestion. After 3 months, I was given another leham to strengthen the stomach.
I found relief right from the first few weeks. The treatment was very simple. The brand of Ayurvedic medicine that I used was 'Kotakkal Arya Vaidya Shala'.
Apart from trying ayurvedic medicine, you could do yoga pranayam also, particularly Kapalbhati pranayam (start by doing for 2 mins, then increase gradually according to comfort and do daily for 20 minutes.) Here is the video link to see how it is done:

Good luck! Do post back on what cured you.

WEll- I think the first response about Crohn's disease sounds right- know people that have it and basically they can't eat anything with fat or oil in it... various things with this disease you can't digest, so it goes straight through. Also- I had a boyfriend once who had this problem and turns out his was b/c of food allergies and also lactose intolerance. Try playing with your diet to see if anything specifically triggers it... also- you should try to up your potassium intake. Good luck!

Dear Michele, Sorry to read about your problem. I had a similar problem for many months. Doc's meds didn't work. I started taking one tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar in half cup water every moring before breakfast. It works like a bomb. Excellent remedy. Try it. you may need it before each meal. Start, and put your trust in God! It must work! Good luck!

In response to Michele from Melbourne, Florida, It does sounds like Crohn's, and there is a natural way to keep these symptoms completely under contol. It is called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. My niece has this and has been living a normal life for six years, and has given birth to two healthy babies. Go to her website:
http://nomorecrohns.com/default.aspx for plenty of excellent information. This diet is good for anyone with gut problems.

Curing diarrhea is so simple! Just do a clear liquid diet for 24 hours and you'll be fine again. No weird ingredients, no doses to take, just drink clear juices or broths and NO FOOD for 24 hours. My mother used to recommend sipping a rehydration solution of 1 pint water to 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon salt, stirred, but I can't say that I have noticed anything wonderful about that.

After a holiday to Dominican Republic my daughter and I came down with diarrhea, for three days I was stationed in the loo. Lo and behold after searching for a natural cure I run across your website and decided to give ACV a try, instantly my stomach felt better and feel I am on the road to recovery...THX

When my kids have diarrhea I mix 1/4-1/2 teaspoon turmeric with cocoa and sugar and make a drink with or without milk. They usually don't drink the whole thing because the turmeric flavor starts to set in... But it does the trick! As for myself and my husband, we mix it with hot water and it has helped us many times. I also tried the flour-water drink and that worked too. Thank you Earth Clinic!

Dear Earth Clinic - Last week I had an awful stomach flu (throwing up, diahrea). The vomiting stopped, but the 'hrea stayed around all day. I found the tumeric cure on Earth Clinic. I remembered a friend told me about it years ago, so I tried 1/2 teaspoon tumeric in a cup of hot water. It didn't taste that badly (maybe I'm used to taking herbs). I had one or 2 more loose stools, but the 'hrea stopped and I was able to start hydrating properly again. I recommend it.

I have been experiencing very rough diarrhea the past week, and haven't been able to sleep in four days because I was kept away from my bed. I saw the remedy of cinnamon and made my own meal, simple toast with cinnamon sugar on top, and immediately my internal system calmed down. It's a very easy process that has helped me get back into a routine life.

It really works! After trying everything I could get my hands on, and six days of constant diarrhea, I tried the turmeric - and within hours I am back on track. Thanks for saving me the Doctor bills. I used one teaspoon in an 8 oz glass of warm water. Had to hold my nose to get it down but it was worth it.

I have had diarrhea every morning for a year and a half. Then I remembered that my mother use to give my brother diarrhea whenever he got it. I started to eat it at night before bed time, and it works. No more diarrhea in the morning. Cream of Wheat takes up water, and that is no doubt why it works. If you have it all day, eat it as often as necessary.

Well, like everyone else, I thought I was dying for a few days. My trips to the bathroom increased and the diarrhea refused to cease. After "googling" diarrhea remedies, I found the only remedy I had the ingredient(s) for; ACV. Now my stomach was a rollercoaster and as soon as I downed the 2Tbsp of ACV (which i think is DISGUSTING BTW)....i feel purrrrrrdy fine and dandy

I should've written this earlier, but just been busy... which is a testament to its success.
The only thing I can think of is that I ate some bad (very bad soup) for dinner on January 31st (2008). Later that evening I started having bad diarrhea. Liquid coming out of me from the wrong place. I've had diarrhea before, but this stuff was different. I nearly drank a whole bottle of Pepto (large) and NOTHING changed. I went to the bathroom a lot! I was getting raw... I had completely forgotten about this website.
Last year I came here to cure myself from a kidney stone (lemon - olive oil) and it worked. But re-finding this place was such a pain. I had a bookmark crash in mid January (long story).
I read the testimonies for both the Apple Cider Vinegar and Turmeric. I went with the latter. To be honest I don't like the smell of vinegar. I wouldn't be able to keep that down. I bought my Turmeric from Stater Bros.; McCormic brand for about five bucks.
Okay. I know I F-ed up here, but be warned. This cocktail is bitter as hell. I actually spit out part of it, which looked like I had vomited on my shirt. Which I suppose isn%'t too far off. I'm so gald I only had to take this once. I don't want to do this again anytime soon. This happened on February 3rd.
As I wrote, I had been looking at the Apple Cider Vinegar cure too. I ended up messing the measurements. I was suppose to take one teaspool NOT one tablespoon with a warm glass of water. That got me real paranoid.
I felt the results within four hours. I went less and more... firm. By that evening I was back to normal. Let me clear that; I was releasing something that was far solid that didn't require me to to visit the bowel every thirty - forty minutes.
I'm back to my old self now. This stuff works! I'm so glad I re-bookmarked this wonderous place. Dudes you saved my ass, quite literally, especially since that afternoon (Jan 31st) I had a root canal. Believe me, I didn't need that grief. Thanks!
