Borax and Tamarind

I am no stranger to detox as my symptoms first started 20 years ago. My first big leap toward recovering came through sauna detoxification (using VC, mineral salts, and liver suppl. support) and an acupressure technique to reduce chemical and food resistance and allergies called NAET. Both are AMAZING safe therapies I highly recommend. These together, plus organic raw juicing literally saved my life at the age of 28 in one year's time.

My second huge leap forward was with a form of energy-based yoga called isha yoga--i do a kriya practice I learned in an 'Inner Engineering' class which is really easy to do, and it normalized a lot of my hormonal imbalances and got my body's rhythms back in sync. I've began practicing since the age of 33--almost 10 years without missing a single day. It's THAT good. This practice made my system stout and strong again in 3 months--to the point that I trekked in the Himalayas 6mths after I learned the kriya and since have travelled all over Asia and Tibet with a strong gut--I was helping OTHER people who were sick =).

So, I've been pretty fit for the last 10 years, eating vegetarian (not able to do organic in travel), travelling all over, and practicing yoga and meditation regularaly. In all my travels and activity etc, I was fine. It was when I came back and settled that I'd gotten a little lax on the pure water thing and started to have a few problems re-emerge--wasn't too bad, but it began to interfere with my yoga--mainly joint pain and mild hypo- thyroid symptoms.

My thyroid has always remained slightly enlarged on one side even though my symptoms of Hashimotos were very mild (almost no coldness, just mild skin dryness, and occasional fatigue). The thyroid got a big boost from my yoga practice, but my joints were still getting really crickety even though i'm practicing a couple hours of yoga asanas (postures and such) every day.

4 days ago I started the Borax protocol as well as the Tamarind and am having incredible results. I think this might just be the final piece to the detox puzzle. I hadn't taken fluoride that seriously, and my enviro doc 10 years ago never mentioned it as a concern. I'm betting the sauna cleared it with the other things back then and I never knew it was part of the problem.

I bought both a 'cosmetic grade' Borax powder and Tamarind paste at the Indian market. Both I am mixing with a little sea salt. These first days I've taken 1/24 tsp of Borax in 1/3 of a liter--basically 1/3rd the total quantityfor female adult and had the funk that followed--dizziness, lethargy, little nausea etc. The first day I did an Indian Rasam with tamarind, salt, little oil and cilantro also. After the two, I actually spiked a fever and the aching worsened, but I could tell it was a detox reaction. I can literally feel this stuff 'pulling'.

At day 4 with this tiny amount I've taken, my knee pain is about 80% better, low back pain is gone, neck and shoulders which were very tight are about 30-40% improved, and my energy has spiked up considerably. Truly amazing that a $2 product of natural mineral salt and the $3 paste of a fruit of a tree can be such a wonderful antidote.

It is interesting, because the Ayurvedic wisdom of ancient India has spread into the south India culture and held for millennia and one of their most common, daily soups--a 'digestive' by which they finish EVERY meal is the rasam that I made myself, which has simply tamarind paste, black pepper, cumin seed, a bit of dal, turmeric powder, salt which you boil hard together and then add lots of fresh UNCOOKED cilantro in at the end. Hmmmm... The yogis must have known all along =)

Best luck in your continued climb to the glowing health and exuberance that is your birthright. Thank you for hosting this forum for those who suffer needlessly for way too long.

blessings, -Sharon

I have called the National Science Foundation and they have told me that fluoride can NOT be removed from the water although those that want to sell you systems will tell you otherwise. NSF says do not believe some sales rep. I think I will listen to NSF.

Removing Fluoride From City Water
Posted by Anonymous (Pdx, Or) on 10/14/2012

The effects if fluoride are dangerous and staggering. One day fluoride will be looked at as an ignorance act of the past. A new health movement is going on people of all ages are becoming aware People want pure organic food NO GMO and they want pure clean water. Don't get me started! :) First get organized and look at what other communities have done to get it out of the water. Contact the leaders that organized it and they will give you the step by step process, Our city wanted to put it in the water . People came together for common cause people volunteered and some were paid to gather signatures so that it could be take to the city so the people can vote on it. Once you start the ball rolling you will see people of all ages volunteering. I always think if the once famous talk show host had even touched on this subject about the deadly effects of fluoride we would of seen a movement againist fluoride that you would of believed!

In answer about the borax and reverse osmosis water, I too suffered horribly from all these symptoms that I've read on this site. I had a child in 2000 and had so many symptoms that all lead back to fluoride poisoning. I've had a nodule on my thyroid since 2006 and could not lose weight no matter what I tried. The question was... How was I to get rid of this nodule on my thyroid that apparently came from the fluoride poisoning and how do I get rid of the fluoride from my body. To prevent it from entering is one thing but how do you effectively get out what had been accumulating inside for years. Well, I found that boron, a trace mineral leaches with the fluoride and pulls it out of your body when you go to the restroom. I recently went back to the doctor. They've been doing ultrasounds every 6 months and it was pretty much staying the same. About 7 milimeters or so. I've also done a MRI so the doctor can really see what is going on. It is now down to 4 milimeters and the doctor told me to keep doing what I was doing and that he has never seen someone's thyroid nodule shrink. I'm losing weight little by little, but it is coming off. I thank all of you for sharing. Everything we all post, will help others in their research. Thank you!

Note: In this recipe, I am no more using demerara sugar as demerara sugar is still partially refined sugar. I use pure jaggery, which is natural and rich in minerals Especially Iron, Magnesium and also trace elements like chromium

Amazing researches. -- A typical Hindhu Family meal in South India will have Rasam (Soup made with Tamarind Juice) daily. Rasam is mainly to increase digestion and detox.

Rasam made for 6 persons will have only small lemon size of tamarind in it and will make for nearly 2 litres of rasam. (mostly water). However, I know for sure one should not take too much tamarind as it is, as it will affect the body.

A folk tale says sleeping under the Tamarind Tree daily will ruin your body.

Ted has covered in the site that green tea does have fluoride but taken a cup or two a day, the benefits outweigh the risks. I came across some old Ted posts on the site where he uses a pinch of borax to negate the effects of fluoride when he drinks green tea (not sure if he takes them at the same time or different times though).

Ted quotes:

"Tea is naturally high in fluoride so adding some borax will negate this effect."

"I take green tea myself and aware of some of the pitfalls. However, I take the necessary precautions, while avoiding white bread and white flour use, as well as taking some kelp, seaweed or even using iodine as a mouthwash to prevent the problems of iodine deficiency. "

https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/fluoride_questions.html

"However, I always add a tiny pinch of borax, as some green tea may have fluoride and this aids in the removal."

This reply is to Sibylle fropm CA:

Where did you get that load of bullocks about green tea? Green tea is suggested by both Bill & Ted here at EC for helping rid the body of heavy metals. Now, I agree that not all green tea is created equal but for you to post here & tell people not to use it for detox is wrong!

I only buy organic green tea myself. That's the safest & best way to drink it. Just take a look at the information from the site mainly posted by Ted & Bill in regards to green tea. Your information is not correct! Thanks!

Don't drink green tea for detox! Green tea has loads of aluminum fluoride in it. The tea plant is an aluminum and fluoride accumulator, it absorbs both from the soil. Black tea too for that matter and Roiibos tea. White tea due to being from younger leaves has less aluminum fluoride, but still some. The same is true for organic black green tea. What countries in this world have millions of cases of skeletal fluorosis? China and India... inform yourself.

I'd like to say thank you so much to God for answering my prayers and thank you EarthClinic for helping to save my life. I have been so miserable with muscle pain, muscle twitching, jaw pain, constipation, dry eyes, dizziness, stomach pain, depression, anxiety, headaches, fatigue, itching all over even in my ears, pain under left shoulder blade, muscle contraction, and the list goes on. I have been terribly ill for over a decade. I have seen numerous doctors. At only 23 years old, several years ago the best advice one docter could give me was to start walking with a cane. Most docters wrote me off as a hypochondriac or tried to put me on anti-depressants.

I'm a yoga teacher, so I'm very in tune with my body. I just knew it wasn't "all in my head". I tried several different remedies on EarthClinic through the years and tried cutting out many different foods thinking I had a food allergy. It literally felt like I was allergic to every kind of food. However finally after constant prayer, a very patient husband, and years of research; I figured our that my sickness had worsened significantly in 2008 when parts of San Diego began putting fluoride in the water. The intial exposure came from growing up in Indianapolis, IN. And I became extremely sick in 2011 after the birth of my daughter (anesethia has fluoride) and when all of San Diego County started fluoridating their water.

After just one week of avoiding as much tap water as possible in food and drink and using a pinch of borax in reverse osmosis water, I feel like a different person. This IS a miracle! I had gotten to a very dark place. Even with the birth of my daughter, I had lost the will to live with so much pain. Just a heads up though, there have been several times where I took Lugol's iodine and the detox symtoms were utterly unbearable. Blessings!

I thought you might be interested in this collection of research articles I made for friends, on the use of Tamarind. I left out the papers that were addressing its use as anti-viral, anti-fungal, etc. It has valid properties in those areas though not always as strong as many other foods and supplements.

Antiobesity effect of Tamarindus indica L. Pulp aqueous extract in high-fat diet-induced obese rats.
It was observed that TIE decreased the levels of plasma total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and triglyceride, and increased high-density lipoprotein (HDL), with the concomitant reduction of body weight. Moreover, TIE decreased plasma leptin and reduced fatty acid synthase (FAS) activity and enhanced the efficiency of the antioxidant defense system. TIE exhibits antiobesity effects, as indicated by a significant reduction in adipose tissue weights, as well as lowering the degree of hepatic steatosis in the obesity-induced rats. The extract possesses hepatoprotective activity, as it reversed the plasma liver enzymes level elevation prior to the high-fat diet. A dose-dependant effect of TIE is detected, where TIE at 50 mg/kg showed the most prominent effect, followed by TIE at 25 mg/kg and, subsequently, 5 mg/kg.

A mucoadhesive polymer extracted from tamarind seed improves the intraocular penetration and efficacy of rufloxacin in topical treatment of experimental bacterial keratitis.
Standard treatment of bacterial keratitis includes topical administration of concentrated antibiotic solutions repeated at frequent intervals in order to reach sufficiently high drug levels in the corneal tissue to inhibit bacterial growth. However, this regimen has been associated with toxicity to the corneal epithelium and requires patient hospitalization. In the present study, a mucoadhesive polymer extracted from tamarind seeds was used for ocular delivery... The polysaccharide significantly increased the intra-aqueous penetration of rufloxacin in both infected and uninfected eyes.... results suggest that the tamarind seed polysaccharide prolongs the precorneal residence times of antibiotics and enhances drug accumulation in the cornea, probably by reducing the washout of topically administered drugs.

Animal and now human studies have shown that a class of agents known as oligosaccharins--complex carbohydrates found in plants--protect the cutaneous immune system from UVB-induced and UVA-induced immunomodulation. This immunoprotective effect occurs independently from erythema and DNA damage protection, and these agents, particularly tamarind xyloglucan, may become important adjunctive ingredients to sunscreens.

Dietary agents in the prevention of alcohol-induced hepatotoxicty: preclinical observations.
Tamarindus indica L. , commonly known as Tamarind tree is one of the most important multipurpose tropical fruit tree species in the Indian subcontinent. Tamarind fruit was at first thought to be produced by an Indian palm, as the name Tamarind comes from a Persian word "Tamar-I-hind, " meaning date of India. Its name "Amlika" in Sanskrit indicates its ancient presence in the country. T. Indica is used as traditional medicine in India, Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and most of the tropical countries. It is used traditionally in abdominal pain, diarrhea and dysentery, helminthes infections, wound healing, malaria and fever, constipation, inflammation, cell cytotoxicity, gonorrhea, and eye diseases. It has numerous chemical values and is rich in phytochemicals, and hence the plant is reported to possess antidiabetic activity, antimicrobial activity, antivenomic activity, antioxidant activity, antimalarial activity, hepatoprotective activity, antiasthmatic activity, laxative activity, and anti-hyperlipidemic activity. Every part of the plant from root to leaf tips is useful for human needs.

Cilantro

Doesn't cilantro and garlic pesto work for fluoride detox? Or is it heavy metals??? I think Chlorella works for fluoride.

Cilantro Pesto

1 clove garlic
1/2 cup almonds, cashews, or other nuts
1 cup packed fresh cilantro leaves (and smaller stems)
2 tablespoons lemon juice (a professional chef recommends just one Tbl of lemon juice)
6 tablespoons olive oil
Celtic Sea Salt to taste

Blend the cilantro and olive oil in a blender, add other ingredients to make a nice smooth paste, then go ahead and add some nuts and/or seeds: pistachio, cashews, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, you name it. Have fun. Add it to your favorite pasta and serve warm or cold. Remember, cayenne pepper added to anything has a synergistic effect, making all the other ingredients work better. Simple fact.

Mercedes from Salem, Oregon: Here's some chemistry knowledge for you: One atom difference between two molecules fundamentally changes their structure and function.

Borax is not the same as boric acid. It is a sodium salt of boric acid, which may explain your confusion. Boric acid is toxic internally, but borax (sodium tetraborate) is used as a food additive and can be used for detoxifying fluoride in small amounts. There's an LD50 for both, which means at some level both compounds will kill you. So eat a lot of either one. Or don't I mean.

It's baking powder that often contains aluminum.

Baking soda contains no aluminum. Just because one brand of baking soda says "contains no aluminum" does NOT mean that other brands of baking soda contain aluminum.

I did extentensive searching on this and from what I saw, it appears that there are no sources of sodium bicarbonate that have aluminum in them. If you have other data, please post the source of this data (but please don't post rumors.)

Something to know about fluoride toothpaste and fluoride poisioning.

According to the toothpaste manufacturers own instructions, the proper dose - sic - of tootpase is a drop the size of a small pea. Do not swallow - spit it out.

OK - now here is the crazy part - On the toothpaste box it says if more than that is used, to notify a poision control agency immediately or see a doctor.

Now here is the sick part - the TV commercials show a toothbrush completely covered with toothpaste and then a dairy queen swirl on the end. This is more than two thousand percent the toxic dose as noted on the toothpaste instructions.

This is criminal.

A sobering read how fluoride toxicity is occurring in plants, fish and even bees. It even is killing off frogs and some insects in certain areas. They use it now in fertilisers and apparently tea is heavily infused with it. The salad and fish you eat may not be as healthy as you thought. Even supplements which we thought were healthy may be toxic in fluoride as it goes through the food supply. It can even be in toxic levels in fruit trees.

As an aside most labs don't check for fluoride levels in humans. Fluoride also damages the thyroid.

Tamarind
Posted by Ed (Oakville, Canada) on 01/18/2012

I doubt tamarind is the cause of the side effect. May be other ingredients in the capsule could have caused the side effect.

In South India, people used to add tamarind fruit pulp in their cooking recipes like sambar, rasam, saarus..we are so used to take everyting in capsule form.

Whenever I need a natural health food, walk into the bulk food and buy them a half pound of tamarind fruit is only a dollar. I don't have to spend 10 dollars for 50 capsules...

Moreover, it is good to take herbs like turmeric, aloe vera, Apple Cider Vinegar or tamarind in its natural form so the body can naturally digest. As these are all edible foods.

Maybe you should try tamarind juice.

Recipe

1. Half teaspoon - tamarind pulp

2. Glass of water

3. 1 tsp - demarara sugar

To prepare tamarind pulp. Take some tamarind a golf ball size and add 50 - 100 ml of water and soak it for 1 hour. After 1 hour blend tamarind and water using your hand or wooden spoon to make it as a pulp. Remove the seeds and other fibres. And filter the pulp using a filter or cheese cloth. Don't use blender to extract pulp.

Now add this half teaspoon of tamarind pulp with glass of water and sugar, mix it and make it as a juice. Drink it.

Don't take more than 1 - 2 glass in a day.

Taking more tamarind will cause stomach disturbance.

Tamarind to remove fluoride poisoning. I have seen few documentaries about flouride poisoning.

In rural india where the natural spring water contains high amounts of fluoride.

People use to add a small amount of tamarind fruit, equivalent to half size of Golf Ball, in a pot of water overnight and use that water for drinking purpose.

A pot of water equal to a volume of 20 Liters. This added tamarind will remove or nullify the flouride poisoning in water.

Since Borax seems to remove fluoride, I will try this as well.

I wanted to share my experience with the Borax protocol for removing fluoride from the body. My theory was that my daughter's "non-24 hour sleep-wake syndrome" (very rare circadian rhythm sleep disorder) was caused by unintentional cumulative chronic fluoride intake (water), so we tried Borax to see if it would remove the fluoride and fix the problem. We gave her a tiny fraction of the recommended adult dosage because she is still quite young. Within about two months of gradually stepping up her dose (still not very much! ) she started sleeping at the same time every day (the non-24 hour disorder caused her to operate on a 25-hour internal clock and she went to bed an hour later and woke up an hour later each day). Now she has reverted back to the less severe "delayed sleep phase syndrome" going to bed very late, around 3am each day for the past month at least (which is how she slept before the shifting phase began). I could hardly believe it was working so I waited many weeks before getting too excited about what I was seeing. Nothing else we tried had made the cycle even budge. I believe she will eventually move to a more normal bedtime, which she has never yet been able to have in her first 3.5 years of life. When this happens, I will post updates!

My husband had the delayed sleep phase for most of his adult life and used the same protocol alongside my daughter. He now reports wanting to go to bed much earlier, rarely able to even stay up past midnight. He is reporting sleeping more deeply now as well. He has not even reached his full dose yet, as he does experience mild headaches when he increases his dose so he is going very slowly. I feel that his success with the Borax protocol is further proof that my daughter didn't just grow out of it.

I believe our fluoridated water also caused three of our pets to become ill with kidney failure type of symptoms and all died from this within just over a year's time frame (quite a coincidence). Now I wonder what else the fluoride has been doing to us, but at least we are doing something to reverse it. I urge everyone to look up the many, MANY sources of the fluoride scourge that esp. Americans are being assaulted with from all sides. Then, figure out how to avoid it (most water filters do not remove it). But esp. if you have some crazy sleep patterns, or you have been diagnosed with insomnia but feel you may have been misdiagnosed, please check into the fluoride toxicity issue. I hope this post helps someone!!!

If you get a Reverse Osmosis filter be prepared to spend TONS on filters! Fair warning! The Fluoride eats holes in the filter very quickly so you have to change the filters MUCH more often than 'recommended'. A dear friend had RO for several years but was going broke changing filters so often, and appalled at what her filters looked like being eaten by the Fluoride.

The filtering of Fluoride is still a big debate. The reality is there just isn't a way to safely filter all Fluoride from our water. Dr. Russell Blaylock stays on top of this issue. I suggest following him to keep up on up-to-date info. He actually has a Distiller to get rid of Fluoride. Distilling is controversial as well so you have to decide what is most important to you; getting rid of Fluoride or losing some minerals from your water. I figure I can replace the things Distilling takes out but Fluoride is forever...

A responder to this post and other responders to other posts have suggested the use of reverse osmosis machines to remove fluoride. That will work. However there is a problem with these statements. Almost all of them will only remove a limited portion of the fluoride. Some as little as 30%. The best that I was able to find was a 98% removal rate. Email the company that produces the RO system you wish to buy before you buy and ask them to state the amount of fluoride it will remove as a percentage... You can then have a record in writing of their removal rate.

Check out the Pure Water Systems, Inc. , at purewatersystems.com. They seem to have the best RO system available.

Hi Paul... In answering your questions on Magnesium Oil and ACV:

How many spray do I need each time for a glass of water?

If you are lacking Magnesium, take 10 drops(with a dropper) of magnesium oil in a glass of water twice a day. When your stool suddenly becomes loose, this will be magnesium saturation, so cut back to about 10 drops per day(or whatever suits you) in a glass of water. This is called titrating the dose. You can also spray the Mag Oil all over your body and it will be absorbed in greater amounts through the skin than via ingestion and absorbtion through the intestines. You can also reach higher levels of Magnesium in the blood transdermally without the problems of loose stools -- the kidneys should easily be able to get rid of any excess levels of magnesium in the blood without problems.

I have been adding baking soda directly to the apple cider vinegar until stop fizzle or close to it, then I add the water last. Is the wrong way? or does it matter?

You do it how you want!! I prefer just to add water to the ACV to half glass then add the Baking soda bit by bit until no fizz. Then I add a bit more Baking Soda afterwards to ensure the solution is buffered and alkaline and then I drink it. ACV plus baking soda alkalizes the intracellular environment whereas extra Baking Soda works to alkalize the blood. But that's just my way...

Hi Aaron,
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 20years ago... and your letter could have been written by me - symptom wise anyway.
I just have a few more things to suggest trying that I have found helpful for the fatigue and upper back shoulder thing....

An incline board really helps the spinal compression to loosen up and gives a really good stretch. Also, I just started rebounding a couple of weeks ago, and the energy I have been having due to it is AMAZING. Something to do with moving the lymph out of the body with the bouncing motion. Maybe do a web search on "benefits of rebounding"? I also Youtube's it.

As far as supplements, I take ACV (1 oz) and then 3 tbsp Organic VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) in my coffee.

Also - Boron 3mg a day (another amazing mineral to research! ) D-3 at 4, 000 IU a day, Magnesium at 400mg a day, and slight calcium to balance out.... But keeping the Calcium at equal or less mg as the mag. Vitamin C - 2, 000 a day (broken up into 2 doses) and lots of WATER! The human body needs much more water than it is generally getting. There are books written on this!

Fibromyalgia is a miserable thing, and I hope you figure out what you need to do to feel good again!

Hi Aaron... Borax is a very useful supplement for your Fibromylagia, but my own feeling on your problem is that you seem to have multiple issues. Any immunological disease like Fibromyalgia does not just arise from one cause, but usually arises through imbalances involving excessive intake of poisons - pesticides, heavy metals or halogens like fluoride/bromide - as well as due to lack of important nutrients - such as a lack of vitamins, amino acids or body electrolyte minerals. This lack of dietary nutrients combined with excess intake of poisons and toxins from processed food and water are what actually work to first weaken your immune system, your hormone system and your energy system etc over many years and that is when diseases like Fibromylagia strike, allowing other outside pathogens entry into your body - such as the Epstein Barr virus, candida etc. Alot of your issues also seem to stem from an acid body/blood condition, possibly due to excessive Calcium intake in your diet.

It might therefore be useful to take a broader range of supplements which will help to address your many issues:

ACV, Baking soda and Magnesium

The method is to add 2 tablespoons of organic ACV(Apple Cider Vinegar) into a glass, half fill the glass with water then add 1/4 to 1/2 tspn of Baking Soda until the fizzing stops. Drink this two or three times a day outside mealtimes. Also take 300 mgs Magnesium Chloride or Magnesium Citrate or Mag Gluconate twice a day. Or you could also use the more convenient Transdermal Method of Magnesium intake using Epsom Salts or Magnesium Chloride. The magnesium will help balance and remove excessive calcium from your tissue cells which may be causing your pain. This ACV mixture is also highly alkalizing and beneficial for the blood and the cells. The magnesium will also help to stop the tinnitis and the magnesium will also help to relax you and help you sleep properly. Here are some research details for this Fibromylagia remedy.

Lugol's Iodine

Dosage: 2 to 4 drops twice a day in a glass of water. While dealing with a 320 lb diabetic patient, Dr Flechas -- a researcher from the Iodine Project -- found that while taking 50 mgs(8 drops) of 5% Lugols Iodine, this patient was not only able to completely come off her insulin meds, but she also lost 70 lbs as well. Here is the research and testamonial. Both Magnesium and Iodine seem to have a very positve effect on reducing cell insulin receptor resistance which is caused mainly through diet by eating too much processed vegetable oils. Iodine will also boost the thyroid gland as well as help boost and aid the immune system. Iodine is also used to remove fluorine, bromine, cadmium, lead, mercury and aluminium from the body.

Liver Cleanse, Detox and Repair Option

The liver is the chemical factory of the body. It has an intimate hormonal relationship with the pancreas, the thyroid and the adrenals. It controls and balances protein, fat and sugar metabolism. If you are overweight then chances are that your liver may be stressed or damaged and cannot cope. The liver also removes the trash from the blood, as well as helps to control fat storage in the body. By cleansing, detoxing and repairing the liver you will also improve the immune system, more correctly regulate hormone balance, reduce excess fat storage and improve blood quality. This protocol is a triple anti-oxidant therapy which will help to cleanse, detox and repair the liver. Details and dosages are given here:

Chanca Piedra -- 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes.
Milk Thistle -- 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes
Alpha Lipoic Acid -- 300 mgs twice a day at mealtimes
Selenium -- 100 micrograms twice a day at mealtimes.
Vitamin C -- As Ascorbate, 1000 mgs twice a day at mealtimes.

Borax will certainly help to remove fluoride, will help to balance the hormones and will act as a very useful anti-fungal but it will not, in my opinion, cure the blood acidity or tissue pain or sleep problems or possible liver problems or tinnitis or overwieght problems. And since you have so many multiple issues, then perhaps it would be more uaseful if you adopted a multiple strategy -- as above -- that tries to address all the root causes at once.

After reading Jason Uttley's article on the fluoride / fibromyalgia connection I have decided to try borax ingestion. I have seen numerous doctors over the years looking for cause of my illness without luck. I have mostly refused medications as if they don't help in first couple days I don't keep taking them... I have a strong adversion against perscription medicine.

My Details:

10-12 years of fibromyalgia symptoms (huge overlap to fluoride poison symptoms) including:

upper back pain between shoulder blades

numbness and aching in arms, hands, fingers, elbows, and most upper body joints.

trouble sleeping due to pain... I wake up 5-10 times a night. Very hard time staying on any sleep schedule.

Can only sleep hugging a pillow and only on my side. I roll over numerous times per night due to discomfort.

hip pain sleeping

blurry vission in morning for few few hours.. Never fully clears up

very annoying tinitus high pitch ringing at all times

I am overweight, ~210lbs at 5'9"

I am male and 36 years old.

I took Cipro for 30 days about 10 years ago. This may be around the time symptoms started. It has been so long I don't remember if this exactly matches the symptoms as they came on slowly over years.

I have a scuba diving accident 17 years ago and was treated for the Bends.. Thought this may have something to do with symptoms.. Though I can not find any link or info about this relationship. It was a mind case of the bends.

I have lived in Colorado Springs for 8 years and our water Fluoride is 1.75 ppm. Interestingly I didn't think we had fluoride water as no extra is added. Why the # is so high I do not know.

More info on what I have tried previously here:

www.justanswer.com/medical/4p3bc-upper-back-shoulder-blade-spine.html

---

I will post here as I try Borax. Here is my first result post:

Day1:

1/4 tsp borax, 20 Mules brand to 1 Liter of Britta filtered water (didn't have any distilled). Started drinking it about an hour before bed. I drank 1/2 of it fairly slowly before bed, so only ingested 1/8 tsp first evening.

Sleep seemed a bit deeper, though I did oversleep, as usual, the following morning. I slept from about midnight to 11am. This has become an almost normal sleep night for me. 10-11 hours to feel barely rested. However, this morning I felt a little more rested than usual.

Ringing in ears is still there at normal volume

Pain maybe slightly better, but not enough to know for sure... I have some days better/worse than others.

Muscles in shoulders and back are sore like a workout, but I did try a TENS unit for the first time yesterday and suspect that caused the muscle soreness.

I will get some distilled water soon to replace the britta water. I am however unsure how to eliminate fluoride from diet considering any drink I have when out (I eat out about 2/3 of my meals) will be tap water based.

I will post again in a day or few...

I've been eating a healthy diet for about 15 years - whole grains, use honey, no white sugar, brown rice, more raw veggies & fruits (organic as much as can afford), etc. Another change we made all those years ago as well was to purchase a water filter. BUT, ours does not filter fluoride.... So all these years I've been faithful about drinking lots of water, I'm also getting the toxic fluoride. I've had muscle weakness, pain joint, etc. So, now I'm ready to try the Borax.

Bonnie, I don't know the answer to your question, but I would like to know what you are taking for your thyroid issues and are you finding any relief? I also believe I have a low thyroid and want to try some natural options before going to a doctor.

I am currently taking an herbal supplement to help with low thyroid and also Diatomaceous Earth. Should I stop either of them while using the Borax for Fluoride Toxicity? I would appreciate any thoughts and wonder if Ted could wade in on this one too. Bonnie North Carolina

Activated Charcoal

★☆☆☆☆

WARNING!

Activated charcoal DOES NOT remove fluoride from water nor does it remove it from your body. There are only three things I am aware of used for fluoride removal and that is:

1)Activated Alumina - this is not rated for internal use nor do I presume that it would be safe.

2) Red Clay - There have been some studies published out of India where natural Red Clays were used to remove fluoride from water but it required that the water be in contact with the clay media for a minimum of 15 min. For absorption to take place. It is likely that a food grade red clay or even a food grade zeolite clay would be able to remove fluoride internally.

3) Reverse Osmosis - does remove fluoride from water. Additionally, as others here have mentioned, food grade sodium tetraborate (borax) has been shown in clinical trials to induce chelation of fluoride compounds from the body via the urine.

Hello! I too, am searching for a good but inexpensive water tester. I did ask around but beside telling me that the "hanna" tester has a good reputation, I am not more informed and I am joining you in the search, here is one of many for comments:

Hello all you tech savvy wonderful people! Can you suggest a fluid tester? Thanks in advance.

Fluoride Test Kits

Does anyone have any experience using fluoride test strips or a fluoride testing kit/meter to determine fluoride levels in drinking water and other beverages? After reading some articles on the web last night, I decided I would like to start testing our tea and water. We have one particular loose leaf ceylon tea that I have the feeling has fluoride levels off the charts.

Source: http://toxipedia.org/display/toxipedia/Fluoride Content in Tea

..."Tea infusion readily releases Fluoride from tea leaves into water. As such, it is considered a significant dietary source of Fluoride (Lu, et al., 2004). Studies from certain countries have found teas containing 0.03 ppm-25.7 ppm Fluoride (Szpir, 2005). Alongside consideration of when leaves are harvested relative to the growth of the tea plant and which leaves are selected for a particular tea, processing can be another determinant in Fluoride content of the final tea product. One study done in Taiwan found tea packaged in teabags had higher Fluoride concentrations in infusions than loose leaf teas (Lung, et al., 2003)."

re FDA Regulation

"...The current FDA regulation standard for fluoride levels in beverages and bottled water is 1.4-2.4 ppm (US FDA, 2006). Certain American brand teas have been found to exceed the standard amount (Rao, 1984). Studies from other countries have also found their local teas to contain fluoride levels higher than the recommended amounts (Lung, et al., 2003 and Tokalioglu, et al., 2004)."

Another excellent source of info on fluoride content in various foods, beverages and toothpastes: http://www.fluoridealert.org/f-sources.htm

Regarding fluoride test strips and kits... here are some products I found on Google Shopping. I just don't know which one would be best... any ideas? Thanks!

Fluoride in Water
Posted by Q12 (Fairfax, Va, Us) on 07/05/2010

Aquafina has 0.05 PPM Fluoride according to the USDA National Fluoride Database of Selected Beverages and Foods. See this link:

http://www.fortcollinscwa.org/pages/fluoride.htm

Compare that with the average 1 PPM that is added to the water supply.

EC: That's an excellent link, thanks! Please note however that the USDA chart was published in 2004.

To all: check out the worst fluoride offender on the food and beverage chart:

I have Hashimoto's and an iodine loading test indicated I'm deficient. I've tried taking Iodoral but everytime I start I get horribly fatigued. Do you have any idea's on what else I can take? I continually read about the benefits of iodine and would like to find something my body can tolerate.

Hi all. When I found out how to drive the deadly fluoride out of human bodies, MINE, I was overjoyed. The science is impeccable. ENJOY

Doctor James Howenstine MD on Iodine
I thank my lucky stars for running into this insightful Doctor's cogent observations on the super critical mineral iodine.

http://www.newswithviews.com/Howenstine/james37.htm

"Iodine has a role in promoting general well being as well as protecting against infections, degenerative diseases and cancer. Iodine promotes the normal killing of defective and abnormal cells (apoptosis). Thus, iodine helps the body's surveillance system to detect and remove abnormal cells. Additionally, the presence of iodine triggers differentiation away from the more dangerous undifferentiated type of cell toward normal cells. The presence of adequate levels of iodine in the body (Japanese diet with lots of sea vegetables and fish) reduces reactive oxygen species (ROS). in the body which decreases the oxidative burden in the body. This results in slowing of degeneration disease processes and decreasing the risk of cancer."

"The mammary glands have a trapping system for iodine similar to that of the thyroid gland. The breasts effectively compete with the thyroid gland for ingested iodine. This distribution of iodine to both breast and thyroid gland in pubertal girls explains why goiter is 6 times more common in girls than pubertal boys. The disappearance of iodine into breast tissue in women leads to decreased ability to supply the thyroid gland with an adequate amount of iodine. The development of a goiter in young girls indicates deficient distribution of iodine to both breast and thyroid tissue. Treating such a patient with thyroid hormone is not sensible and appears to increase the risk of breast cancer." Note women you MUST solve this problem yourself, the average doc jumps right to the thyroid meds. IMO get at least 14 mg of iodine/day

"Iodine therapy helps the body eliminate fluoride, bromine, lead, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum and mercury. Could this substitution of bromine for iodine have been carried out to increase diseases and thus create more need for pharmaceutical drugs?" Note you have NO idea how good it makes me feel to hear a mainstream doctor voice the obvious

"Several human organs need iodine but can not absorb it until blood iodine levels reach high values (stomach, salivary glands). Most persons exhibit impaired production of stomach acid as they age. This impaired capability to produce adequate stomach acid may be a result of iodine deficiency as iodine promotes stomach acidity." Note low zinc will also promote low stomach acid

"Excessive clotting and vascular disease resulting from high levels of lipoprotein (a) can be reversed by iodine treatment."

"Dr. Abrahams thinks that the correct quantity of iodine needed to maintain sufficient amounts of iodine in the body is 13 mg. daily. This is 100 times more than the government recognized RDA for iodine."

Doctor James Howenstine, MD

Doctor Al Sears MD on Iodine Deficiency Problems

http://www.alsearsmd.com/iodine-deficiency-a-teaspoon-for-a-lifetime/

"A lot of iodine is concentrated in breast tissue. When you don't have enough, you can develop fibrocystic breast disease. Up to 93% of American women have it. This is when your breasts become very painful and have nodules and cysts in them. The longer you have this disease, the higher potential for breast cancer." Doctor Al Sears MD

"Iodine is concentrated in the stomach. When you don't have enough, you develop a condition that feels like you have too much stomach acid. But it's just the opposite... you don't have enough. If it goes on long enough, it can develop into stomach cancer." Doctor Al Sears MD

"Tear glands in your eyes contain large amounts of iodine. Lack of iodine can cause dry eyes." Doctor Al Sears MD

"Iodine is concentrated in the ovaries. Women who lack iodine develop cysts. The greater deficiency, the more cysts. It can also lead to a disease called polycystic ovarian disease." Doctor Al Sears MD

These are some of the low iodine problems Doctor Al Sears a well practiced clinician has seen in his practice over the years. It opened my eyes.

A way to REMOVE Fluoride from your Body

"Iodine therapy helps the body eliminate fluoride, bromine, lead, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum and mercury. Could this substitution of bromine for iodine have been carried out to increase diseases and thus create more need for pharmaceutical drugs?" Doctor James Howenstine, MD

"Dr. Abrahams thinks that the correct quantity of iodine needed to maintain sufficient amounts of iodine in the body is 13 mg. daily. This is 100 times more than the government recognized RDA for iodine." Doctor James Howenstine, MD

Most of us are deficient in iodine. This deficiency allows the fluoride to displace what little iodine we have. Repleting your iodine along with CEASING fluoride ingestion, can drive out the fluoride out of your body. To replete your iodine you will HAVE to start thinking of milligrams of iodine NOT micrograms.

Avoid these which can prevent your Absorption of Iodine (** = cooking usually eliminates the problem)

Corn ** (See Grain Protocol) make sure corn is NOT GMO, 85% is
Drugs (See Drug Protocol)
Soybeans and Soy Oil
Chlorinated Water (See Chlorine Protocol)
Fluoridated Water (See Fluoride Protocol)
Millet ** (See Millet Protocol)
Mustard ** (See Mustard Protocol) go easy
Peanuts ** (See Peanut Protocol)

Iodate Sources

* Seaweed one quarter of an ounce of dried seaweed can contain 4 mg of iodine. This is the ONLY food to consider if you are deficient
* Seafood
* Eggs
* Pineapple

Here is an easy way to tell if you are Deficient in Iodine

Get a bottle of Tincture of Iodine. Paint a square inch or two of the tincture of Iodine on your upper thigh as you sit. If your body absorbs all the iodine in less than 24 hours you are deficient; repaint doubling painted area. Repeat this procedure until your body does not absorb all the iodine in 24 hours.

Iodine Repletion

IMO the very best way to accomplish the iodate repletion Doctor Howenstine recommends is to eat about 4 ounces (dry weight) of a good Japanese Seaweed every day or every other day for at least a few months. After that go on a maintenance dose of once or twice a week. I recommend going to a place who carries Asian foods. Talk to them about a good bio-available source of iodate. The red or brown seaweeds usually contain the most iodate.

Severely iodine deficient people can often take up to a year to replete with even daily seaweed. If you suspect you are not repleting sufficiently on seaweed consider working with an integrative doctor. Solving an iodine deficiency can result in an improvement in MANY areas of your health and should IMO be taken seriously. Lugol's and Iodoral supplements are used by many to replete iodine. I have gotten severely depleted several times and taken 50 mg/day for a month or so.

Keep an Eye on your Iodine

I take at least ten kelp tablets (See Kelp Protocol) a day for my iodate, take an iodine liquid, eat seaweed and test with Tincture of Iodine every week or so. Usually my symptoms of hypothyroidism will remind me when I have missed a day or two.

Tamarind
Posted by Carly (Seattle, Wa) on 05/26/2010

Hi - That sounds like a classic "Herxheimer" reaction.

Do a search on it on the web. I had a bad one when I started taking VCO (virgin coconut oil). Felt like the flu for about 4 days....

If you don't have any other symptoms, I would try to work through it. It is your body trying to release the toxins faster than it can deal with. Or you may want to cut back a bit for now on the supplement, and work your way back up to two a day more slowly?

just a thought.

Good luck!

Carly

Tamarind
Posted by Dominick (Streamwood, Illinois) on 05/25/2010

Hi there, I've been taking Tamarind Fruit powder, 500mg each in two capsules, totaling 1g per day, for about 4 days now to remove the fluoride from my body that has no doubt built up for years of drinking tap water. I have had IBS for about 5 years, and sleep problems all my life, my hope is that removing fluoride buildup might help these issues.

So far, I've noticed a persistent headache in the frontal part of my head since taking it, and that I've been almost constantly tired.

Has anyone else experienced this while taking Tamarind fruit, or is this normal fluoride removal side effects, and if I should be worried?

Thanks,
Dominick

Boron (Borax) and Tamarind
Posted by Ted (Bankok, Thailand) on 05/18/2010

Liquid boron is made from boric acid, and its toxicity of Boric acid is much higher then that of borax. Boric acid is also acid, and not alkaline and it makes it difficult. Toxicity of the use of boron and reported deaths comes from the use associated with boric acid when an infant accidentally ingested boric acid.

It's much easier to deal with borax. A liquid boron has another problem, manufacturers may add inactive ingredients in liquid solution to stabilize them but may be not safe for human consumption Borax in general does not have the additives as does a liquid boron solution and hence isgenerally better in most general applications.
