I have dealt with heart burn all my life and have tried many things including acv. Baking soda is by far the best. It is the world champ, make no mistake. It beats all else! It Also instantly fights Colds and the Flu.

Yesterday at the park my friend's daughter was uncomfortable with heartburn. I said I had some baking soda if she wanted to try it. (I try to keep a small container of baking soda in my purse at all times.) We put about ¼ teaspoon in about 4 ounces of water and she drank it down and it took care of her heartburn!
Next time you are at the store, pick up a box of baking soda and leave it in your car for emergencies. Not just heartburn - insect bites, bee stings, etc.

Vivian,
Yes, just regular mustard.
Have you tried apple cider vinegar for your heartburn? Also, depending upon why you have heartburn, digestive enzymes and or Hcl may be helpful to prevent heartburn in the first place.

Heartburn: I have tried ACV and it seems to work. I take it with some water and honey. I had a fruit citrus drink and the heatburn flared up almost right away. Lots of good filtered water helps too. You have to watch what you eat. Citrus is not good for heartburn. Bill

If you do pick up some mustard packets from a public place...please wash them!!! So many people handle them...they may get dropped on the floor...who knows!!! If you're sucking the mustard straight out of the packets rather than squeezing it out onto a spoon or something...I just shudder to think what you might be ingesting. Ick!

I have been using Apple Cider Vinegar(2tsp), honey(1 tsp) and cinnamon(just a few dashes)for the last week as a way to control the worst heartburn I have ever had. I could not believe how well it works!! Amazing!! I thought I'd have to take an acid reliever for the rest if my life. So happy to know there is something out there that is holistic and helps with so many other things too, like my allergies, while bringing the heartburn under control... Even better than the strongest dose of Zantac! I recommend it to anyone battling this beast!!

I really didn't think it would work, but it did. I put just a tiny splash of ACV in a coffee cup added a little bit of honey and filled it up with water. Microwaved 1 minute because I don't like hot liquids. I haven't had heartburn since. Usually I eat at least ten Tums everyday.

Yep, this works very well, take about a tablespoon of plain yellow mustard on a cracker, drink the mustard down, chew the cracker & swallow, burns like the dickens goin down, for me anyhow, but within a few minutes, the acid reflux is completely gone. Been using this method for about a year and a half now, don't have to take prescription heart burn medicine anymore thanks to earth clinic. Also, I had to incorporate more fruits and veggies in my diet to help keep the heart burn gone for good.

I know this reply is 13 years later, but time flies you know! ACV stands for Apple Cider Vinegar and I've been using it for a few years. Yes, it can re-adjust your gastrinal system and eliminate heartburn. The brand I use I believe is the best out there, but since we aren't supposed to name the brands, I guess I'll just "braggs" about it. Also, if you take a teaspoon of raw unfiltered honey from the bees in your locale, you'll find that the hard taste of the vinegar is almost eliminated as you swallow it. And the honey from your local area will also get rid of your allergies.

Despite eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise, I suffered from really bad heartburn for over 10 years. At first I just used antacids the doctor prescribed, but I realised that was just covering up the symptoms. Then my heartburn got so bad that I suffered from it almost all the time, especially during the night. The doctor diagnosed reflux and for 3 years I took pills daily to prevent an attack. He even advised me to have an operation. One Friday I ran out of pills. That afternoon I got a really bad cramp in my leg that lasted about a quarter of an hour and was so painful I nearly passed out. In agony, I took two 80 gr. magnesium pills at once and four more spread out over the next 12 hours. Then I took 3 pills a day for the next 2 days, after that one pill a day. When the weekend passed I realised I hadn't had any heartburn all weekend, despite not having taken any heartburn pills. Now I take a magnesium supplement every day and haven't had any heartburn or reflux for two years. It was like a miracle and it certainly gave me a new lease of life.

It's 3 in the morning and I had such bad heartburn I was throwing up! I went to my computer to look up a natural cure since it'd be too inconvenient to go to the store. just one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar saved me!! This site is awesome. Thank you!

One Tablespoon Mustard, regular, not hot and not watered down version, just regular english or american mustard, have it before bed and don't drink any water. It'll burn a bit for a few seconds after having it. Have another half amount in the morning and you'll probably be cured for life, it's been 4 years for me and I've never had heartburn again. I got this natural remedy from another poster, thank you and I am spreading the news. It worked like a charm.

I started having heartburn from eating sausage or citrus products. I took hcl tabs and it helped but didn't cure it. I went years without drinking milk because I brought into the vegan trend. Well once I started drinking milk a few times a week and eating yogurt I noticed my heartburn went away completely. I can now eat what I want. You can add it to your oatmeal or chai tea for breakfast.

I now take a small piece of papaya when I have acid reflux. It works instantly to stop the burn. As papaya is not always readily available where I live, I have found I can freeze the papaya in small chunks and this works as well.

Heartburn: Ginger all the way! Crystallized ginger, a true Jamaican ginger brew (soda), ginger tea, or powdered ginger caps taken with a complimentary herbal tea meant for tummy troubles; it all works. I prefer the crystallized ginger or ginger brew, myself. Soothes beyond the pain/burn; soothes the entire digestive tract. Helps digest whatever might happen to be lingering in the stomach. Removes wind, in both ways, if you catch my drift. I always have some on hand, though I rarely get actual heartburn. It's pretty much good for any type of maldigestion, and good as a preventative, as well.
Carrot Juice

I have discovered that carrot juice works very well on heartburn and acid reflux! It really helps better than anything else I have ever tried. Usually when I get heart burn I may have the need to belch or burp a little and I can always feel the acid creeping up. I drink about 4 oz of carrot juice and the problem goes away. If I need to drink more later I have another 3-4 oz. I don't usually juice my own carrots, I just buy the carrot juice from the grocery store. But if you own a juicer I am sure fresh carrot juice would be delicious!
Digestive Enzymes and Sauerkraut

My husband and I take Digestive Enzymes as they help replenish our depleting stomach enzymes. Taken before or with meals 2/3 capsules. Enzymes break down food in the stomach and eliminates digestive issues and pass waste more easily and quickly. You can get plant based enzymes and enzymes for meat eaters. This makes all the difference in the world. My husband had heartburn for many many years...Now a thing of the past.
Also eating fermented foods such as sauerkraut is hugely beneficial.

Hi, I used a lesser amount of Baking Soda for several months because I had very acute pain from heart burn (the heartburn had been ongoing for years.. I got the idea for Baking Soda one night when I thought I was dying).. I would take 1/3 to 1/2 teaspoon in 8 ounce glass of water whenever I had symptoms, usually only 2 or 3 times daily. The heartburn went away right away but I would have mild reaccurance and therefore I would take another glass of water with the Baking Soda. Eventually, I almost never get heartburn. I found that certain foods would be a catalyst to heartburn (or if my digestion was slow).. For me most ice cream, cake, and pie were triggers. Heavy meat (anything that is hard to digest). I eat more carefully.... less processed or fast food... more salads... One symptom with the baking soda was that if I took it too frequent I would get minor diarrhea but it would come on fast and made it so I could hardly ever go out.. I figured it out and cut back on the use of the Baking Soda... Turns out I was taking it too often and really didn't need it anymore... That is what I believe...

THANK YOU for your advice. I have suffered with persistent heartburn problems for the last 2-3 months. My GP has prescribed increasingly higher doses of PPI's which did not appear to bring any significant benefit. A gastroscopy indicated upper tract inflammation but no other problems and I tested negative for H Pylori. 9 days ago I decided to ditch the drugs and try ACV ( 2 tblsp with honey in warm water) twice a day before meals - I also began taking Aloe vera juice. I felt much better within 2 days and have not looked back. I have been able to resume my yoga practice including inverted postures and have not had any disruption to my sleep. I am still taking care with my diet and am not fully back to normal, but it has only been just over a week. I am due to go travelling in china in @ 5 weeks - do you think I will need to take the ACV with me?
