I just wanted to express my gratitude for this site. I am what you'd call a return patient to Earth clinic, after curing another 'ailment' permanently, I came straight to this site at 2 am last night after a severe attack of heartburn. The second one in 2 weeks. Since no one in my household ever has heartburn I was unsure what would work fast. I tried in desperation the 2 tbs of ACV and 1 tbs of honey with a little warm water and yes within minutes I felt a great deal of relief, and within half an hour I was comfortable enough to go back to sleep. Thank goodness I can go to a site that is sincere in it's attempt to keep remedies as natural as possible. Thank you friends out there!

I started with horrible acid reflux right around the holidays, it was so bad that at one point, I thought I was having a heart attack. I have spent months and countless dollars on Nexium, Zegrid, Beano, TUMS, Rolaids, Activated Charcoal ...you name, I've tried it. I changed my diet but this past weekend, I didn't do so good (i.e. Thai food) and wow did I feel like I was dying all over again. I looked up foods that help for acid reflux and GERD. I ate a banana, applesauce, drank ACV diluted in water and had ginger tea. It helped a bit but then I read about mustard. Sure I like mustard, on hot dogs and burgers but the thought of just eating a spoonful by itself made me gag. my reflux was so bad at that point that I was willing to try anything so down the hatch it went and within minutes, NO MORE PAIN!! No more feeling like I had a lump in my throat, I was belching as much. I felt 95% better. I do see my GI next week but I will continue to use mustard in the meantime because it really did work!

So glad to have found this site. I have been taking 2 Tbs of ACV for my heart burn and completely gone. I also gave up wheat and that helped significantly.

Mustard Heartburn Remedy
I am 22 years old, and a while back I was experiencing absolutely horrible heartburn which seemed to come out of no where. I would get heartburn after practically everything I ate (whether acidic or not), which became very frustrating. I would finish an entire bottle of acid reducing pills within a little over a month, which I was sure couldn't be that healthy for my body. I went to this website and read about PLAIN YELLOW MUSTARD as a natural heartburn remedy, and decided to give it a try. Every time I was experiencing heartburn (slightly or severely) I would swallow probably a TABLESPOON worth of yellow mustard. I would feel almost instantaneous relief of the discomfort, and the heartburn would go completely away within probably 10-15 minutes. I kept up with this remedy, and am happy to say that I haven't taken a SINGLE acid reducing pill since!
SOME GOOD TIPS:
1) Try not to drink any liquids soon after you swallow the mustard, or you will just wash it all down. If you don't like the taste of mustard, just swish water in your mouth and spit. It should help reduce the taste.
2) GRAB INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED MUSTARD PACKETS WHENEVER POSSIBLE!! If you are in a restaurant, gas station, grocery store, casino, etc. that has a condiments section somewhere, grab a bunch of mustard packets! You can keep them in a bag in your purse, car, backpack, etc. for when you experience heartburn while on the go! It's self contained, convenient and free! :)

I was suffering with debilitating heartburn for years. It was almost daily and so bad that I would dread doing anything physical because I knew it would ruin my day. Last summer it dawned on me (I'm a slow learner! ) that my heartburn could be a symptom of something bigger and I don't know where I was reading it but I happened upon a post about the liver and that hearburn and gas was a symptom of livers that need detoxing. I used milk thistle religiously for 3 months. I felt better within a couple of days. I still take it once in a while when I get gassy or after I've been using any medication.

Lie on left side for GERD, heartburn, stomach virus, etc.
I have had stomach problems since birth with terrible heartburn. I have a hiatal hernia and GERD. When I can't afford NEXIUM because it's $1 per pill I use ACV but I also read somewhere that I should lie on my left side when resting and sleeping and it makes an unbelievable difference. It's also better for your heart and blood pressure, especially when pregnant. Let me know if it also helps ya'll.

Have been suffering servere heartburn for the past 2 weeks. This wasn't just the usual burning and pain associated with this complaint but a feeling like somebody was squeezing my throat. I tried all the usual remedies to no avail. Visited EarthClinic and tried the ACV and honey remedy and after the first dose I got immediate relief. I will keep using it until I have no further pain but I look forward to being able to get some sleep at last. Many thanks for this wonderful site. I have used it many times over the years but have only just registered so I can thank you properly.

Mustard for Heartburn:
Seems to work fine. I'm not sure how long it works for but it's long enough to make me feel comfortable and seems fine.
All I've been doing is just getting a bit of dijon mustard (30% mustard seeds) on my finger and then quickly swallowing it with some water so it doesn't hit my tongue too much. Weirdly as long as it's only on one place on my tongue and goes quickly I don't really taste it much.
So yeah. That's what I've found :)

I'm on some new medication for chronic, severe migraines and have developed heartburn for the first time in my life. It woke me up this morning at 2:00am in severe pain, and of course I had just run out of ACV!
Yellow mustard to the rescue, within minutes I had relief. A few hours later more heartburn, another TBS of mustard, and relief again. I'm so happy!

This mustard remedy saved my life. I'm serious, it sucks after u drink the tablespoon for like 3-5 minutes, u feel like ur pressures up but then magic happens. I sat up, watched a little sports center and in like 10 minutes I was good. Just did it for the first time tonight. I get frequent heartburn and go through pills like candy. I had nothing tonight and the mustard worked. They don't pay me for this but I figure I can put people on to this cuz I fight heartburn everyday it sucks donkey nuts so try ima see if it works daily now til I get medical insurance

Try Mixing you Apple Cider Vinegar with Apple Juice. It tastes much better that way......close to the taste of Apple Cider. Apple juice, unlike orange or grapefruit juice is not acidic, so does not make heartburn worse.

Yesterday at the park my friend's daughter was uncomfortable with heartburn. I said I had some baking soda if she wanted to try it. (I try to keep a small container of baking soda in my purse at all times.) We put about ¼ teaspoon in about 4 ounces of water and she drank it down and it took care of her heartburn!
Next time you are at the store, pick up a box of baking soda and leave it in your car for emergencies. Not just heartburn - insect bites, bee stings, etc.

Vivian,
Yes, just regular mustard.
Have you tried apple cider vinegar for your heartburn? Also, depending upon why you have heartburn, digestive enzymes and or Hcl may be helpful to prevent heartburn in the first place.
