My heel only started hurting 2 days ago but checked my favorite site, Earth Clinic an hour ago. Did a couple minutes of the foot stretch that others posted on here then fixed the acv, molasses and baking soda which I'm drinking while soaking my foot in Ice water.

Ironically, before I soaked my foot I noticed I didn't have heel pain any long er!!!! Wow. So folks, try the foot stretches first. They work!! Thank you Earth Clinic/ Deirdre as you've done so much for me as I've used this site for years and told many peeps about it!!!! Blessings to you.

I used to do foot reflexology. X-rays in June 2017 confirmed I had a heel spur. I called the reflexologist who works on my feet. He said using a golf ball will help break up the spur. I placed the ball on the floor and rolled my heel over it several times as much as I could tolerate the first day. It hurt a LOT, but the next day the pain was decreased about 90%. I did this for 2-3 months while watching TV and barely feel it now. No fuss, no muss.

I read on another board that Acid-A-Cal could stop heel spurs and it works, I was suffering with pain for over six months and after three days of taking this stuff the pain is almost gone, I'm going to finish this bottle and hope the problem doesn't come back, if it does, I know what to get. Sure beats expensive and painful surgery!

I don't understand how this stuff works, it says it helps the absorption of calcium, perhaps the heel spurs are being reabsorbed?

This stuff works! People, please if you suffer from bone spurs, please give the Acid-A-Cal a try -it is the real deal. I cannot believe this worked on me. Thank you guys so much!

I developed a bone spur on the top of my foot and was discussing with an OS to do surgery to get rid if (shave it down). I then began obsessed with trying to find an alternative method. I cleaned up my diet, tried everything possible homeopathic. I came across this site and read about acid-a-cal. Interested, I went searched further and found a few other sites where ppl said it dissolved their spurs.

At the same time I also did a blood test to check my calcium levels which were a bit (just a bit) below normal. I bought it and began supplementing it 3x a day with meals. I kid you not, within 2 months my spurs have gone. Yes, they are gone. It began with the dull ache going away, then the perpetual redness fading (I'm guessing cause the spurs were shrinking and no longer pressing against soft tissue) and the last 2 weeks I literally was watching the spur shrink to now there is no spur.

I haven't shown it to my OS yet, but I believe he will be shocked. Beyond shocked! I am so grateful, happy and filled with renewed spirit. I love you all and thank you thank you thank you!

Hey.. Guys I read many healing home remedies for bone spur round the corner. People suggest using ACID-A-CAL is very effective in bone spur healing. But I couldn't find the acid-a-cal in nearby medical shops.. What actually is this?... Please tell more about acid-a-cal...

Dear Md. Rais,

Acid a Kal is a supplement with calcium, magnesium and vitamin K, if memory serves me correctly.

I bought this for my husband for heel spurs and it did not work for him.

I started to give him very small amounts of borax in the water he took to work each day. About 1/16 of a teaspoon per half gallon of water. It took many months, but during that time, the bony protrusions on his heels got much smaller and his pain went away.

I believe it is the boron in the borax that works. If you cannot find borax, you may be able to find a boron supplement. But borax is very cheap.

I used extra magnesium citrate tablets to get rid of my bone spur. I am not familiar with this other product.

I developed a heel spur, went to see a foot specialist where they took a mold of my foot and then I was supplied special insoles. I was told up to six months I could have the insoles adjusted free of charge. Close to the six months' period, pain returned right in the center of my heel. The insole had a slanted heel.

I figured really how much can they change the insole, so I started reading online. For one thing I read that calcium, magnesium and phosphorus are needed by the body in certain proportions. It so happened that a while back I had broken three ribs and had been taking extra calcium supplements which I believe ended up creating an imbalance. I happened to have a little bottle with some liquid phosphorus on hand from a treatment for TMJ from way back when. I tried some of the drops and started to feel relief. So I went on line and ordered ionic phosphorus. And this has taken care of the problem. I now take it sometimes, just a little tsp. when I feel my heel is becoming sensitive again.

Gispa60, your post shows the importance of BALANCE and how marketing has little regard for it. We are sold on Calcium for bone & teeth health, a few yrs latter they discovered the need for Calcium PLUS Vit-D. So we gobble our Cal/D down and get bone spurs, heart arythmias, and kidney stones. Many people on this site have found relief and cured many problems adding MUCH needed Magnesium to their daily regimen.

I add a few drops of Sodium Diphosphate (Fleet Enema) to a mineral footbath often as I know I need it and phosphorous is supposed to be so abundant that it is almost impossible to buy as a supplement. So thanks for the alert.

Also the amino acid Taurine is very good for mineral balance & utilization.

A month and a half ago, it was sheer agony just to walk to the mailbox; to get out of bed, I needed a cane. Then I came here and read-up on calcium.

For the past month and a half, I've been blasting calcium into my system with a daily dose of: a multi-vitamin with 162 mg of calcium in it, PLUS a tablet of 600 mg of calcium and 400 I.U. of Vitamin D.

Three days after starting my calcium-blasting, I noticed that I was feeling less pain. Now, a month and a half later, I am PAIN-FREE (except after I stand or walk a lot).

I would like to let everyone know that I came on this site to see what people were doing to relieve their heel pain because I was having heel pain so bad that I was not able to put any weight on it and was also getting sharp pains through the heel. It got so bad I was almost in tears (and I have a high toleance for pain!) So I had decided to take a Calcium supplement (calcium 250mg also has Mag 250mg,Vit D 200 i.u. and 7.5mg zinc as directed 2 tabs twice daily with a meal) and I have to tell you that it worked!!!

This morning I woke up and normally I limp for about an hour and then I still have a slight limp but got up and only felt a slight discomfort and was able to walk fine as the day went on!!

Hope this helps anyone that has been in my pain!!

In response to the person who had a heel spur on the back of the heel I have THE answer. I went to a Chiropractic physician whom I told I had the problem (didn't actually know what it was-but painful). This particular doctor treated me with ultra-sound and it was gone THAT DAY! He treated it as part of my routine visit. It was painless (just warmth) and far from a surgical treatment which I hear usually fails. Not all naturopathic or chiropractic offices might do this so please check around. My help came from the Fedorko Chiropractic Clinic in Canton, Ohio. Contact to see if there is a similar situation in your area. Good luck! Linda

I work as a medical professional and see heel spurs on a daily basis. Not only have I seen this problem, I also was one to have a bad heel spur in my heel.

Ultrasound treatments, along with correct alignment of the hips and back, can cure this problem. Ultrasound is commonly used in the sports medicine field to help increase blood flow to areas of pain and where problems persist (note that this type of ultrasound treatment is not the same ultrasound as used on pregnant women). The ultrasound will help soften the calcium of the heel spur and help the body reabsorb it.

Treatments should be continuous 5-7minutes per time with a intensity of .5. Athletic trainers, physical therapist and chiropractors have access to this type of treatment.

Also, I have found that correct alignment of the hips and back can lead to severe heel pain which can result in heel spurs. If the hips and back are out of line then too much pressure can be put on one heel as opposed to the other. This mis-alignment can cause poor biomechanics and cause severe heel pain. A chiropractor can help assess and see if this can be the problem and help correct it.

Heel Spurs:

It's hard to believe, because it's so simple, but 3 gals including myself healed heel spurs by taking Vitamin B6, 225 mg, once a day for 2 weeks. Also my Cousin has Plantar Fasciitis, and after the 2 weeks told me it was 80% better.

Can't hurt to try it?

L: I started taking extra B-6 & P5P recently for improved metabolism & detox but noticed little in that way; BUT, perchance, taking B-6 w/ Zinc was significant improvement. After reading up on B-6 it is known to readily bond w/ Zinc or Magnesium for added benefits compared to either alone.

Heel Spur Remedy (Cold water/Hot water, Tennis Ball)

I found many of the suggestions quite helpful and ended up combining a number of treatments which had immediate results.

Although my foot did not seem as bad off as some others, it was still impacting my mobility and posture forcing me to walk on the outside of my foot. I was schedule to see a doctor tomorrow and feel as if the treatment has eliminated the need to see the podiatrist. After reading many of the "Standards of Care" remedies used by doctors, they did not sound very helpful. They sounded expensive and invasive...

Treatment:
One tub of very cold water about 3 inches deep. Non chlorinated.

One tub of very hot water with a half cup of epson salt about 3 inches deep. Non chlorinated.

First start by placing the foot in the cold water and leave submerged for about 5-10 minutes or as long as one can stand the extreme cold. Then placing the foot directly into the hot water.

This was repeated twice by replacing the water over a 30 minute period.

Then a tennis ball was used for about 20 minutes under the arch of the foot.

Using a combination of fast rolling and pressing the ball motions, the objective was to compress the ball as much as possible and apply pressure to the back of the arch near the heel.

I intend on following through for several days with this treatment to make sure that the heel is back to normal.

Hello,

After Reading the comments of Anonymous' and Allen from Cincinnati about the Ice water treatment for the heel spur, I decided to give it a try.

BTW, I have the heel spur and the pain for more than 7 months now. I have taken anti-inflammatory drugs, Cortisone injections and also Shock Wave Therapy for 3 times to get the heel spur cured, but all this did not cure the pain. All these treatments led to somewhat decrease in the pain but did not cure completely. Finally, I decided to try something else and fortunately I found this forum and the feedback from the users about the Ice water therapy.

Yesterday, I decided to try it out. I just took ICE cold water in a tub and immersed my feet in the water for 30 minutes . Already today iIfind great relief and most of the pain from the heel is gone, since I have done this only once the pain is not gone 100% but around 80% reduction I would say. I plan to continue this regime for few more days. I thought that this feedback might help some one in great pain caused by heel spur . I would suggest you to just try the Ice water therapy, which works wonders.

After reading the anonymous' comments about relieving heel spur pain with soaking the foot in ice water, I decided to give it a try.

I started last Sunday evening soaking in about 3 inches of water with ice cubes for about 5 minutes. I continue doing this 2 times a day and after only 2 days my heel spur pain was gone. I had dealt with this for more than a month, trying custom orthotics, a cortisone shot, stretching exercises and Advil to no avail.

Ice water worked for me too.
