Hi Earthclinicians. I think I've found a way of increasing/decreasing grey hair. When I drink alcohol or caffeine my hair is very much greyer the next day.

When I drink wheatgrass over a few days or I juice vegetables, my hair goes back to its original colour again. It also gets thicker. I've had this confirmed by others who've seen the change.

I think it's about about blood pH and keeping on an alkaline diet.

This is my observation anyway.

I am 61 years old and my hair was all grey, it started going grey at about 50.

For one year now I have been having the same smoothie apart from one ingrediant every day, replacing one meal.

I make my own kefir and to that I add, 1 Tbsp chia seeds, 1 Tbsp Vital Greens, 1 scoop of whey protein powder, I Tbsp organic coconut butter, 1 Tsp turmeric, 1 Tsp cinnamon

Two months ago I also added 1/2 tsp of organic Shatavari because I'd had some abnormal cells show up at a Pap smear. They are all normal now and my hair is going back to its natural colour, brown.

It is half brown and half grey in my regrow the now with more brown every week - yeh!

In my opinion the best remedy for Grey Hair, and this will restore it to its younger time in some people.

Plenty of whole grain Breads and Cereals which contain lots of wheat germ and bran for Brown Haired people, and some blondes who decend from Brown Haired Parents.

Some Blondes decend from Black Haired and Red Haired Parents and they need plenty of Thiamine and Folic acid in their foods.

People who have brown hair and decend from parents who have brown hair need lots of Niacin one of the B-Complex Vitamins.

I also make sure I'take a good multiple vitamin every day plus I get enough Vitamin C and Calcium and I also make sure I take a good B-Complex and at an advanced age I have found I can turn my hair back to Gray or color it naturally simply through diet, more rest and less stress.

My friend is 65 years old and three months ago he started drinking distilled water. He bought a machine to make sure the distilled water he buys is pure distilled water. His gray hair is turning brown again! He is so happy!

It is possible to reverse early stage greying by regular use of a micronutrient rich oil for scalp massage such as egg oil twice a week, left on overnight. The Omega-3 fatty acids and anti-oxidant xanthophylls nourish the follicular cells.

Remedy for Gray Hair

I used 1 healthy egg, avocado, honey. Whipped it up so it is smooth and mixed good. Worked it through my hair and my hair seems darker. Maybe once or twice a week. (Gray hair).

THERE IS NO MAGIC CURE. A TOXIC LIFESTYLE, HOW YOU APPROACH STRESSORS (REACT), LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. YOU MAY NEED TO TAKE GLUTAMINE AND CAL/MAG/ZINC COMBO FOR A WHILE AND STOCK PILE YOUR BONE SALTS FIRST. THEN ADD SELENIUM OPPOSITE (AM/PM) YOUR ZINC, THEN AND ONLY THEN COPPER, BORON AND YOU MAY NOT BE MEETING YOUR REE, THIS SHOULD HAPPEN FIRST. YOUR WEIGHT IN POUNDS X .45 HIGHEST FIBER VEGGIES AND GRAINS YOU CAN (HIGH THERMIC AND CRUCIFEROUS VEGGIES). THEN LOOK AT A TRACE MINERAL SUPPLEMENT, SO MINERALS ARE ALL PRESENT FIRST. THEN LOOK INTO SMALL AMOUNTS OF THE HIGHEST BIOLOGICAL VALUE PROTEIN TAKEN REGULARLY THROUGH THE DAY, NOT THE NIGHT. STAY A LITTLE MORE ACID PH IN THE AM AND AT 3 SHIFT TO ALKALINE. STAY AWAY FROM COFFEE, NO ALCOHOL EVER!!! DO BLACK TEA, IF YOU MUST. MAKE SURE THERE IS CONSTANT PERIPHERAL BLOOD FLOW, WORK ON THIS, QIGONG IS A GREAT TOOL, OR PILATES OR YOGA (OR ALL).EAT ALMONDS, WALNUTS, AVOCADO, FLAX OIL FOR YOUR FATS DAILY! I WILL MIX BSM WITH WHEATGERM, 20 DROPS TRACE MINERALS AND 1 TABLESPOON OF FLAX OIL WITH A HIGH QUALITY PROTEIN POWDER AND SIP ON THIS THROUGH THE DAY, IT IS ONE OF MANY "CURE CONCOCTIONS" I HAVE DEVELOPED WITH MY OWN RESEARCH, I DO HAVE A LOT OF NUTRITION EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION AS WELL. EACH CYCLE, OR SHIFT I MENTION IS IN 6 WEEK CYCLES, GIVE IT 3-6 MONTHS IF YOU ARE THIS IMBALANCED AND ARE GREY AT 25 YEARS OLD, SHAME ON YOU I AM 40 AND HAVE ALMOST NO GRAY HAIR, MY ENTIRE FAMILY, EXCEPT ME AND MY RAW FOOD CHEF LITTLE SISTER ARE ALL GREY. BUT STAY POSITIVE BECAUSE THIS IS A GOOD MOTIVATOR TO FOCUS ON YOUR ENERGY BALANCE, THAT'S ALL IT EVER IS, ENERGY BALANCE (IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, THINK ABOUT IT) = ) IN GOOD HEALTH BARRY

My experience, Fo ti (He shou Wu) has worked quite well for darkening hair, and reducing grey hair. I'm a 50 something male, had about 20 to 25 percent grey, mainly on top and on the sides. I reduced it to about 5 to 10 percent in a few weeks. I purchased some of the prepared root from a vendor on Ebay in China. Here's what worked for me. The root is quite leather like and dark when you get it. I would take 5 or 6 pieces of the root and brew my cup of coffee into it and let it soak overnite. Drink the coffee the next day. I do that 2 or 3 times a day. When the root softens up enough, I put it in the coffee grinder and break it down as much as possible, and then drink that in with my coffee the next few days. Been doing this for a few weeks, and have noticed quite a difference, my brown hair has darkened and I notice alot of new hair growth that is dark. I plan on continuing it for about a month on and then a month off, month on, month off. It's a somewhat gradual process, I would give it a month or 2 for results. I didn't experience any negative side effects.

Polygonum multiflorum..herb.(Japanese Knotweed, Fo-ti, He Shou Wu ('Black-haired Mr. He'),) I haven't used it long enough to say whether it works but have tried it for hair loss and for this I cannot say whether it works since I haven't been consistent with it's use..A traditional Chinese herb used in tonics for rejuvenation, grey hair, erectile dysfunction. etc. I would try to buy an american brand..(better regulated quality free of toxins)

Hi Rob From Manhatten,

I've been experimenting with the herb Polygonum Multiflorum, and it does seem to be working but it is very slow. I was at about 35% gray, but recent pictures tells me I have decreased in gray, and natural hair color is coming back little by little. At first I thought I might be under 10% gray now, but the pictures tells me it's more like 20% still gray (wishful thanking I guess). I am making my own tincture, and it seems to be working better than the health food store pills. I still want to give it more time, and am not giving up.

I started taking the health food store capsules back in Mid January, 2009, with little effect. Then started making my own Tincture about Mid March, whereas I started noticing some results. So in essence I have decreased gray hair by about 15% in the last 3 months. It is stated on herb pages that it takes approximately 6 months for desired results. I am hoping I can report even better progress within the next 3 months.
My partner who is 62 has thinning hair along with gray hair, has only been taking my tincture for about 2 months. He told me his feels like it is getting thicker, and pictures are showing a slight difference. We are both hopeful, but again it is too early to be conclusive. I will report back in a few more months and let those who are interested know. Peace, Rena.

thanks EC...I wonder if it is from the herb itself or from possible contaminants? Good to know if any symptoms do arise... perhaps should alternate with Milk Thistle to protect the liver...?

I have to retract my Yea for fo-ti to a Nay. I was not meaning to be deceitful but I only figured out recently that it is due to where the flash of the camera is placed on my hair. The camera flash really picks up the gray, and if the camera is further away, my hair looks darker. However, recently I took another photo at exactly the same distance from a picture I took back in June and there was no change in the gray. I wish there was a way to post pictures on Earth Clinic to show what I mean. Guess I will have to put up with aging and the gray, such is life, Peace, Rena.

EC: We can absolutely post photos, but you have to email them to us!

I'm in my 20s and my friends and I have noticed we're all going prematurely gray. Even various beauticians said they notice the trend of many younger people coming in to dye their gray hair. What's going on? Personally speaking, I do eat quite a bit of junk food but I eat good food too. Is food getting less nutritious or something? How can we stop this very, very premature graying?

To Sandy from Boston, From what I have read, premature grey hair can result from stress and a low level of minerals in the diet. Today's diet consists commonly of processed foods and and foods that are quick grown with standard fertilizers. These growing techniques result in foods that are lower in minerals than our grandparents ate. We also are in higher stress states due to the pace of society.

All of my hair on my right side has turned grey/white and the left side has not changed. What could have caused this?

Mark it is a good question and one I hope somebody will be along to answer. I wondered about your very question because my situation is quite similar. Although I have quite a lot of grey everywhere it is very prominent on my right side also and I mean remarkably prominent and noticable too. There seems to be no logic as to why one side would grey so much quicker than the other and I am very curious to know the answer too. I have tried to work it out myself but I am at a loss really only coming up with wild speculations but I agree something seems to be causing it.

A comment on the greying on one side more than the other- it's just a thought, however, from talking with my muscle tester, everyone has a weaker "side" to their body. I know mine is my right side, and so if I get, for example, a rash (perhaps due to liver toxicity), it will show up worse on the right side of my face/neck. I can tell it's getting worse when the stronger side of my face starts getting affected too.

One connection I see is that your right part of the body is linked to your left hemisphere. I could theorize then and say that you are likely over using your logical mind (left hemisphere).

Check your stress levels. Are they high or low?

Hi Everyone. I like many suffer from gray hair. It bothers me but being a guy I can buzz it off and shrug it off as looking distinguished. Bull, I want my brown hair back. My main reason for this post is in response to someone saying that we are all wasting our time and that gray hair is hereditary. Well, Scientists have discovered the reason for going GRAY... "It is simply building up too much hydrogen peroxide." http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/29468796/?GT1=43001.

Now, I haven't tried BSM yet but I will. Maybe BSM works because it is diluting the hydrogen peroxide in our body and hair. I don't know but, it is nice to know that there is scientific proof that gray hair could possibly be stopped or reversed with a sure product in the near future

I started getting gray hair at the age of 39 and started to dye it my natural color. After a few years of dying my hair I came to the conclusion that I am beautiful and that I will look beautiful even if I had gray hair, so I stopped dying it. Even though I feel beautiful with gray hair, I notice a few hairs changing brown again. I think the key is not to believe your old, but to believe you are beautiful, no matter gray or not, then your hair color will change.

Greetings. I have been following the hydrogen peroxide therapy. First week sick as a dog. Second week back to normal. Using probiotics and water keifer. 4 weeks after using this I feel a lot better but the weird thing I noticed and my wife noticed, my grey in my beard was disappearing. The new growth came in coloured and now I am back to a nice darky shines red over the grey that I had.

Can anyone explain what on earth happened and why????

What exactly was the therapy? I can only guess your body started to react against the increase of H2O2 and continued after stopping your regimen. I am curious what you did.

I had read somewhere that hydrogen peroxide is what turns hair grey in the first place! That our body's make it naturally. I always wondered if taking peroxide would work kind of like the way to fix water retention is to drink more water... Anyway I found this interesting, so thank you!

Hydrogen Peroxide
Posted by Robert Henry (Ten Mile, TN) on 06/20/2014

HI U WILD AND STRANGE PEOPLE, , , , , , , , ,

Been researching as usual and the topic is grey hair. At 78 I have little, whereas my wife was totally silver at 30. Hey, don't start that stress stuff. Anyways, the current theory is that the hydrogen peroxide you produce in your body does this trick because you lose a particular enzyme named catalase.

Now here is the fun part. Our Bill Munro at 89 had a head of hair like a teenager and no one in this world has inhaled as much hydrogen peroxide as he did. You can look his picture on the internet. Amazing. I bought his oxidation theory and also inhale hydrogen peroxide several times a day. One thing it has done is shut down the mushroom factory in my nose. I do 1 and 1/2% via my nose.

As Dr. Jacobs said about DMSO and double blind tests... Million dollar race horses don't know this FDA stuff, so if it works, they run. If is doesn't then they don't. I'm wearing that ditty out, but it's true.

Would like some of you wormy folks to address my postulate that inhaling hydrogen peroxide just may have the reverse effect on getting grey hair.

This should stir the pot pretty good.
