Anti-Candida Remedies

I tried nearly everything on this earth clinic list for anal itch for about a month. Sometimes the itch would stop for a bit but just continue. It felt more like crawling rather than itching. In my case it is yeast. The only thing that stopped it was prebiotic suppositories for yeast infection. It says it's for vaginal but I used for anal in the morning and at night.

I also took a 9 multi-strain candida formula to drink 1 tsp morning and night. This stopped it immediately!

It also helps to follow an anti-candida diet, no starches, breads, sugar, alcohol. Look up 10 best foods to combat candida. There are also teas and supplements to fight yeast.

Comfrey

Funny illness this. Anyway, I started having the sore/tender anal itch a month ago after I overdosed on probiotics(am cleaning out candida poisons from my system). Massaging wouldn't do it, though it felt good, ahhh. Worst thing is I couldnt see a thing down there to make a proper exam(Who can??). I just figured out reading this that it is due to overdosing the probiotic supplements that caused all the mayhem down there. Who knew some good old bacteria could do that?

Anyway, I decided to take 4 comfrey tea teabags daily last week, and that worked. The open sores and tenderness are gone a week on, though some itching still remains. It's not so bad.

Comfrey plant is a true healer. It healed me very quickly of the internal pain after candida came out last year. I guess my gut was in holes after 30 years of candida infestation.

For anal itch, pierce a vitamin E caplet and apply the contents liberally on the anal area. Immediate relief.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Penntony (Erial, Nj) on 01/19/2015

I have had this itching problem for about ten days. I called the Doctor and she sent a cream. I have used it for about 5 days and it has shown some relief. Today I got some apple Cider Vinegar. It helped but, then I put some more and left it there for a few minutes. When I took the cloth out, it had some surface blood on it. I dried the area up and have checked several times since without seeing any blood. So, I guess that you have to be careful about using this.

I had anal itching for a couple of years. I thought I had pinworm and was looking up remedies for that, but nothing worked.

I was a no-sugar freak--after reading William Dufty's The Sugar Blues. I used real maple syrup or fruit-sweetened jams for deserts or on pancakes, cereal, and plain yogurt. Then when the American economy tanked around 2007, I could no longer afford real maple syrup and bought brown sugar instead. Suddenly, no itchy butt. Then when I tried real maple syrup again, the itchy butt came back. I guess I have a sensitivity to it.

DO not use pure tea tree, it can cause very painful skin burns.

Good news! Arugula salad eliminates Candida!

I have been going absolutely crazy with (embarassing!) anal itching. However, today, I tried a cream I bought in Mexico, called "Comazol. " The key ingredient is Ketoconazol. This is a prescription in the States. (Not a prescription in Mexico) However, perhaps, it would be available on a Canadian website... Not sure. It was absolute MAGIC! Everything (including my vaginal area, which also itched) stopped itching within ten minutes. Not sure if it's a "cure, " yet. Praying it is. Hope this helps someone....

Eliminate Coffee

Yes, quitting coffee makes my bum all happy again. I had to ween off it completely, drinking even 1 oz of coffee my bum still itched; I get that headache withdrawal, coffee is an addiction. It's hard to stay away from coffee when others in the house are brewing it (sigh). I want to try cold-pressed coffee tho, see if that makes bum itchy. Still a mystery, because I've had this problem for over 40 years since I was a kid and I didn't drink coffee as a kid. My little brother also had this problem as I remember growing up, he was suffering too. I often wonder if my mom passed Candida on to us. No one else in the family wants to talk about it, such a universally taboo issue. On one hand it's so good to hear I'm not the lone freak :( but on the other it means it's a bigger social health dilemma. I eat VERY healthy, mostly organic, though occasionally sugar-binge. I eat good yogurt every day, have made keefir water for 2 years now, and good BM's. So it's the acidity in coffee, wow.

Thanks for all input to this great site.

I tried aloe vera and tea tree oil applied to itch. Then ate raw garlic first thing in morning, as per advice on this site. This, combined with applying cider apple vinegar, cleared it up in a few days.... after months of discomfort.

Cranberry Juice

I have had issues with this for some time now on a daily basis and it is worse with a bowel movement. It is incredibly painful and irritating as you all know. I didn't put two and two together until yesterday when I had cranberry juice, which I started drinking again yesterday for its health benefits and ability to flush out fat. Low and behold today I have had no issues. I don't know what exactly causes the itching and pain, but I had wondered if it wasn't a yeast infection. Even on a low carb diet I still had issues though. In the past I have had cranberry juice and it went away, but I didn't realize that's what worked. Cranberry juice is great at fighting bacteria and yeast and my problem is totally solved whenever I drink it. It must be the unsweetened one that's just 100% cranberry juice, NO other juices or sweeteners (or you can also make your own which I've done before and it isn't hard.)

Cayenne
Posted by Bill (Charlotte, Nc) on 10/08/2011

I'm going to give you the cure. I tried everything too. I came accross this in dermatologic paper on line so I'm not taking the credit. I had very bad night itch and this cured it immediately. There are two catches to this:

Catch 1: You have to do it every night (or most nights). But so what... you brush your teeth every day right?

Catch 2: You have to be prepared for intense itching (about 5-7 minutes worth) every night before bed.

The treatment is capsaicin cream (0.1%) or less if you can find it. You can buy it right from CVS, Walgreens, etc. In the area that sells muscle pain heat creams (e.g, Heat). This is made from cayenne peppers. You need to use a very very small amount. Trust me when I say if you are using more than a bb size it's too much! Don't think more is better. Apply the tiny bb sized amount. It will spread, don't worry such a small size not covering. Its enough. After you apply it wait for the itch. It will come and it will be intense! But after its gone there will only be a sort of cool feeling. You will sleep through the night. Since you have abrasions down there my friend, the stinging and itch will be worse the 1st week. But, since you are awake for the itch, you'll be able to will yourself not to scratch unlike when an itch comes in your sleep and you're kind of on autopilot to scratch. Good luck.

After using toilet paper, I use a PORTABLE BIDET, which can be bought on-line or some drugstores for under $10. It fits over ANY toilet. You fill it with water, then dump the water right into the toilet. First, I use hot or warm water, then cold and the itching stops. I do this after almost every bowel movement. My mother gave it to me and it has saved my life. For travel, I have a squeeze bottle that suffices. Hope this helps someone.

MSM, Raw Garlic

In my case the itching of many months went away (it's been 2 weeks) with CLOTRIMAZOLE AND BETAMETHASONE DIPROPIONATE CREAM USP, 1%/0.05%. Made by TARO. Mine was a fungus that did not let me sleep every night for months. Cortisone only aliviates for short term, but did not cure.

This medication combines both benefits, takes away the itching and kills the fungus. In two to three days you will start to see improvement. If you have tried everything else with no results, ask your doctor to treat you for fungus with this product.

I wish you a healthy butt.

Witch Hazel, Diaper Rash Cream
Posted by Maria (Bethany, CT) on 01/20/2009

Itchy Butt: I also suffered from this. Two things worked. The first was witch hazel. Saturate a cotton ball and apply to the infected area. Slight sting but worth it. What many don't realize is that sometimes toilet paper alone doesn't do the job and that any amount of (stuff) left behind (pun intended) may cause a reaction to that sensitive area. I suggest using either flushable wipes, or wet the T.P. and wipe again. Also, good old baby diaper rash formula works wonders. If you are still having problems, consider the possibility of diet and/or parasite. Consider a
parasite/worm natural cleanse product that contains black walnut hull and extract. Good luck!

I wonder if your condition could be said to be caused in part by an improper balance in gut flora? What about considering the use of daily probiotics for a month or two?

Zinc Oxide
Posted by Paul (Christchurch, New Zealand) on 04/13/2011

But Itch, or Anul Puritus, I am concerned at the comments from someone about stopping probiotics. I have suffered from this condition for 30 years, doctors have no idea what causes it and go for the old "don't scratch, keep it clean, don't drink coffee ETC ETC. All Rubbish. My research has narrowed it down to a lack of good bacteria in part of the colon, the lack of these bacteria cause a higher alkaline excretions with stools and this causes the itch. This is why some people get help from the use of ACV because it is acid. But all of these treatments are like the stupid doctors only treat the symtom. To treat the problem we need to get the Bifidofolus back into the gut. One link I think it was springer link put me onto a research paper that had people use Malt Soup Extract and most of these people got great results in stopping the itch. But MSE is almost impossible to get so I use Malt Extract and probotics. The best thing to stop the itch is capsicum cream at about 25% stings like hell for a short period then the P factor cut the itch right out.

Aloe and Tea Tree Oil
Posted by Michael (Providence, Ri) on 09/11/2011

Ok, it's been a week now and I've had ups and downs thx to reading this page. My butt was so itchy I woke up crying and drove myself to the 24 hour pharmacy. Mind you I'm a 42 year old man, this condition has been so frustrating, embarassing, and has taken over my life.

I tried tea tree oil. A little relief.

I tried Apple Cider Vinegar. OUCH! Made my sensitive area worse.

I tried Zinc Oxide, major change, but now I want the cure.

Witch Hazel is wonderful, but I think we are gonna see a doctor tomorrow. I've narrowed the iritation down to only when I have to poop. What does that mean people?

Colloidal Oatmeal, Mineral Oil

You can put Aveeno cream (the best) or generic oatmeal body/hand cream on a Q-tip and, well, stick it in there. Wipe off excess with TP. And for me personally- I get itch after too much gin (even expensive gin) and if I have had poison ivy or sumac, after eating too may cashews (come from the same family as poison ivy)

Bidet
Posted by Tiberius (Oklahoma) on 06/04/2024
★★★★★

If you suffer from anal itching and you've ruled out parasites.. Get a bidet! Even if you dont suffer from anal itching, get a bidet. Hands down the biggest thing that took care of this awful issue for me was a bidet. And even if you dont have this issue, a bidet is significantly more effective, gentle, and hygienic than toilet paper or wipes alone.

You dont need to buy a whole new fancy toilet, you can get on amazon and purchase a bidet that installs on your existing toilet.. they start at about $25 and go up from there. They're super simple to install and they're life changing.

I realized my problem was my toilet paper and abrasives. My toilet paper would tear up as I wiped leaving little pieces in my butt. Also, I usually had to get so forceful/rough with wiping that the area would become so irritated I'd sometimes see little spots of blood on toilet paper before I was totally clean. Also, I would use loofa in the shower and scrub. All of this would leave me with micro abrasions that would itch. Using toilet paper alone is not a sufficient or effective method of getting you completely clean. There is absolutely going to be fecal matter left to some extent. Wet wipes have soaps and chemicals and also can leave debris from the wipe.

A bidet is nothing but clean tap water that sprays you clean. No fecal matter left, no debris from toilet paper or wipes, no chemicals. I use a bit of toilet paper to carefully dab the area to visually inspect the toilet paper to make sure I am totally clean. And I dry myself after with a towel. I feel as though Im freshly showered in that area at all times now. I have no problems with anal itching anymore. And Im saving money on toilet paper.

Another big tip, make sure you keep the area dry. When you get out of the shower or if you do purchase a bidet, make sure to carefully/gently dry the area with a clean towel or rag.

I also changed my soap. I used to use irish spring.. which is a great soap. But I switched to Kirks Castile bar soap. Not only does the soap have super simple/clean ingredients, its also a VERY good soap. No scrubbing required.. lather up, wait a couple of minutes to let the soap work and built up dead skin will rinse off like nothing leaving you squeaky clean. Its very impressive soap. I dont use a loofa at all anymore. Most cost effective place I've found to buy the soap is walmart, it's like $4.98 for 4 bars.

Its also true that your diet plays a big role in the issue of anal itching as well. Sugar and caffeine seemed to be the biggest culprits for me. I love my morning coffee and really didnt want to cut back or give it up. Im happy to report that with the bidet Im itch free despite consuming the same amount of coffee as I always have.

Thanks for reading!

Kidney Beans
Posted by Zark (Emerald City) on 04/07/2024

UPDATE - so I tried to make my own maxi beans using kidney beans and it didn't seem to work well. The main difference appears to be that the store bought one had maize starch (corn starch) added. That's my best guess, and I've noticed for some time that corn and some other foods with added maize starch make me feel better in general.

It would appear that in fact corn starch is in fact what is helping me! Sorry folks!!

Parasite Connection
Posted by Cece (New York ) on 02/17/2023
★★★★☆

Please before applying (symptomatic) itch relief, think about checking yourselves for parasites. I have been extensively reading up on parasites in the gut as one of the major causes for anal itching. I'm not sure what the test is, but the cure for worms is usually black walnut hulls and wormwood -- tincture and or capsules. Something else I read was that if you have dogs or other animals, chances are you have worm parasites. I think you can do an on line test for parasites. This is as much as I know for the time being.

Multiple Remedies

I ruptured L-5 ( bulging disc can also cause this)and it caused all hell to break loose. For years I fought bowel and bladder incontinence. I overcame that : ) ! The bowel incontinence irritates the anus. I read that B-12 and other B's help that, the gut normally produces b vitamins unless it's out of order, then even when you take b vitamins you may not be absorbing them.If it's part of a disc issue or prolapse issue then it means you don't need new spark plugs, you need a new engine. Get out the book and study the car and get ready to buy a truckload of supplements . Nothing is too hard to overcome given time and wisdom. Blessings, Charity

Most women don't understand prolapse until they get one diagnosed. They handed me this pamphlet and explained that the uterus the bladder and the rectum can all three at the same time crowd into the vagina as they fall . Or if you are lucky it will only be one. I was lucky. Thank God.

Nutrient absorption causes them to fail or pinched nerves from spinal issues, or both. See Eric Berg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdYiUztsxWE

Olives

Had a colonoscopy and from using toilet paper frequently and washing I was left with an itchy butt. It was driving me crazy so searched earth clinic. Many remedies, some complicated but I read someone ate about 10 olives and it took the itch away. Sounded good to me and pretty simple as I had just puchased a new jar of olives. Nothing special green with stuffed pimento. Anyway I ate about 10 to 15 and then went to bed. No itch in the morning. Good advice. Thanks Earth Clinic.

Triamcinolone Acetonide

I tried many different things & my ears, arse, & groin were all still itching like crazy. I was scratching the inside of my ear almost daily with a pen cap. My arse & groin areas were also itching like crazy for YEARS!!! Most likely inflammation & all the supplements I was taking. I was applying acv, rubbing alcohol witch hazel..etc. Nothing seemed to have a substantial effect. I'm very clean & up on my hygiene mind you. I finally went to the dermatologist & she wrote me some fancy schmancy prescription for like $250 + of ointments to which I made a call back to her & asked for something more reasonable. She wrote me a prescription for ‘Triamcinolone Acetonide' LOTION, usp 0.1% for my ears which is great because it's watery enough that it doesn't leave a residue build up that I need to dig out later AND the same ‘Triamcinolone Acetonide' CREAM usp 0.1% for my arse & groin. It all cost me like $50 or around that. Within I think the first day or two, it went away, thank you GOD!!! And that was like 3 months ago and now I just have to use those like maybe once a week if even. I love going all natural but sometimes you have to mix it up. I sincerely hope this helps someone if not many in need like I was for YEARS. Peace & Love.

Supplements

Pinworms maybe? Papaya leaf?

For the excema? behind your ear wet a washcloth with isopropyl alcohol and scrub behind your ear with it 2x/day, also drink kefir and not milk, eat yogurt and not icecream. You may like the oxygenated magnesium colon cleanser (do a search), too. Stay out of public pools and hot tubs. Eat raw turmeric root. That is what I would do and have done. Hope it helps you.

Dietary Changes, Probiotics
Posted by Cured (Oklahoma) on 02/02/2015
★★★★★

I had really bad burning and itching in my butt for years. Made me insane. It was so bad to even walk or sit. I had an application by the doc (I think you can get it over the counter though) of methylene blue...it cured it right away but the problem came back later. Finally found out it was candida causing an infection. Did a lot of candida research, what worked was a regimen of supplements such as aloe vera (orally), grapefruit extract, olive leaf extract, caprylic acid (the best one) and a couple others, rotated about weekly and cutting out all sugar and bad carbs like white bread and crackers, etc. Don't cut out all carbs like some say to do, you'll feel horrible and stop the treatment. And it's not necessary. Just eat lots of vegetables, whole grains, and fruit, and take the supplements, about two or three at a time, rotated to keep the candida from getting immune. Also you're killing good bacteria as well as bad, so you must, must take a probiotic to repopulate. I highly recommend kefir. Also, the only thing that worked for the itching and pain was tea tree oil lotion I got from natural grocers (I'm sure it's other places, maybe even just use the oil). Clean well (don't itch or scrub! ) and apply as often as needed, also helps slightly inside the anus. It helped so much, I would have gone nuts without it. I kept up the regimen for several months, you have to stick with it and do it long enough to kill all the bugs and fix your body's balance. I've now been cured for about two years, no new problems!!!!

Dietary Changes, Probiotics

Yes a similar experience. Probiotics and dietary changes also help me, as does .. reducing sugary foods and rice (especially strict at dinner); eating olives; taking omega 3 and wheatgrass (orally); also I use a bidet and pat dry with toilet paper.
