Jock itch plagued me badly for a couple of years. I run, hike, bike and do a lot of outdoors, and the stuff seemed to be impossible to get rid of. I tried all the sprays, lotions, frequent showers, powders, constant underwear changes, etc. etc. Then, one morning in the shower, I noticed my wife's razor and thought---why not? I was pretty desperate. I decided to (carefully) shave off all the hair around my groin area--especially where the legs rub up against whatever. The itch disappeared in a couple of days. Now, I keep the hair fairly closely cropped, and I don't have a problem any more. Of course, I use my own razor now. So, I conclude that the kind of itch I had either hangs out in the groin hair itself, or that the groin hair retains moisture that enables the Jock Itch to survive.
