I had chronic cough for 6 years. I have been in Jewish Medical Center in Denver for many tests but the conclusion is nothing wrong with me. Every time I catch cold and it make me cough for three or four months. In August 17, 2007, I search for chronic cough remedy and stumble in to this site. I start taking ACV and honey the same day. The cough stopped the third days. I had surgery for my both knees, and the pain is constant. The ACV stop knee pain after the fourth day I take ACV. It's unbelievable. The cough does not go away completely. The ACV cure my cough about ninety percent. After suffer so many years, I am happy with the result. I still have to take ACV every day. Thank you for all of you who post your experience at the site.

Breathing Exercises

I have had swelling in my knees for awhile now and have tried many things with limited success. What worked best was basically staying off my feet but at the end of the day my knees would still be swollen. I came across a you tube video by Wim Hof and his breathing method to make a long story short it has had a immediate effect on the inflammation in my knees it cost me nothing but doing the method two to three times a day, no pills, nothing required but his breathing method . He is also known as the ice man and has done some amazing things if this helps you as much as it's helping me that will be great give it a try. You might be amazed how your ability to hold your breath increases also.

So, you might well remember me from such blockbusters as "The Crook Kiwi with the Knackered Knee" or maybe you have been following my sad tale on Twitter, then again maybe knot. Whatever, I got exasperated with this knee that had "Never complained before" (unlike the other one that I had injured a couple of times but was not playing up). As we get older, things take forever to heal (if at all). Weird. Wot to do?

Well I pondered on this Potassium / Sodium imbalance theory and cos it was the right knee I increased my Magnesium and Potassium levels by taking a supplement.

Still not a happy chappy so I phoned my "Guru on the Hill" down the road:-

Ring, ring:

Guru "Yes my son."

Me "It's me Don."

Guru "Indeed, I know this to be true"

Me "How so?"

Guru "You called me eighteen months ago and anyway I recognized your voice. It is, shall we say, distinctive"

Me "Small community".

Guru "Indeed so - I am already feeling the pinch: my client base is tottering"

Me "Well maybe I can help you with that, I wish to prevail upon your services oh wise and expensive one - are you by some fortuitous chance any good with knees?"

Guru "Argh, I'll give anything a crack eh."

(Not being encouraged by said response, nevertheless, I prevailed)

Me "I need to take the car (auto mobile) to the garage in the morning to have its "Warrant of Fitness" checked and I wondered if I could attend upon you afterwards?"

Guru "At eleven suit you?"

Me "Surely, but I will have to leave the car at the garage and walk up the hill. Will I be able to walk down after you have finished the treatment?"

Guru "Well, I can always ROLL you down if all else fails"

Me "Thanks a bundle mate - see ya then then"

Working his magic, he poked and he prodded, lifted and lowered, grabbed my ankle and twisted the leg, spun me around the room a couple of times like the proverbial cat and spent a LONG time rotating the whole leg in various configurations of loops and circles.

Finally he gave the whole leg a sudden, alarming pull just when I was about to tell him that both legs were (almost) the same length. No "longer" (sorry) perhaps?

It's a foreign language he speaks at times but the rough jist of it was to the effect that he had found that a ligament connecting the femur to the tibia had stretched (or torn) allowing the meniscus to protrude and he had "Poked it back"!! Whoa. Way to go!!

He recommended more Vitamin C.

And there I was remembering that the Good Doctor had said that I "Probably had Tendonitis"!

Anyway, feels a bit better to-day.

I am on the "Pirate's Blood Tonic" (Tart Cherry Juice) as of yesterday, so will keep you kind folks posted. This Site has given me so much HOPE. Cheers to all you fellow sufferers: together we shall get there one day!!

Michael

P.S. I think he must have done this before: he was just pulling my leg eh?

I have used this site for years but I had to make a statement on the Apple Cider vinegar and pain. Its AMAZING and it's real. Apple Cider is the magical natural elixir. I read many posts about people using Apple CIder to help with swelling and pain.

So I had been having swelling in my right foot during the middle of the day for about the past two weeks. The swelling would go down overnight when I slept except the last week it had been swollen first thing in the morning. And then my knee started to hurt. I turned to this site and read about Apple cider vinegar and cayenne pepper.

I wrapped my ankle and my knee with a mixture of apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper and coconut oil. I did it once I was ready for bed. I used a towel to sleep on and to wrap my knee with. I put the mixture on my knee wrapped the towel around my knee and wrapped it all in plastic wrap. For my ankle I made the same ingredients but this time I just wrapped it in plastic wrap. I eventually fell asleep. But I woke up when I felt the heat of the cayenne pepper on my skin.

The cayenne pepper did make this heat up in a few hours and I had to take it off. I massaged the residual in my skin. Next morning took a shower but the difference was a 100% decrease in pain. In addition, 3 days later still feel great. Apparently Apple Cider is so good you can just rub it on your skin. I read an article that it was good for varicose veins and you can massage it on the area where you have issues and you will see a difference.

Castor Oil

I've been using castor oil packs as a healing treatment off and on for years since first learning of their efficacy from a 'holistic' doctor here in Phoenix. Once years ago I accidentally slammed a car door on my ankle which caused tremendous swelling and bruising and I simply could not bear any weight on my foot. Elevated the leg and wrapped the ankle in a rag soaked with castor oil and applied heating pad over ankle. Remained that way for most of the night and upon waking, nearly all swelling and bruising was gone and I was able to walk and bear weight on injured ankle again! Amazing.

Several years ago tripped and fell down a flight of concrete stairs landing on both knees. Both knees swelled and were in excruciating pain. Proceeded to lie down with both legs elevated on top of several pillows and applied a well-soaked castor oil pack to each knee. Placed heating pad on top. Next morning - pain, stiffness and swelling was 95% gone and was able to go about my normal activities.

Am currently working on severe tendonitis in right shoulder affecting rotator cup and extending down right arm, using castor oil treatments at night. Will let you know results.

Ok, this is my 3rd post in 3 days after finding this site. My first cure was for my son's fever, second was for losing weight, depression, surgery recovery, and skin clearing all due to ACV. This one is for my knee sprain. i am 30 and I was sitting on a chair with my leg/ankle resting across on my other leg, when my 2 year old son (27 lbs) jumped on my knee and it twisted back and I it was painful but the pain has increased in the past 2 weeks. I tried tumeric and it helped, but I stopped for whatever reason. I after my last sleepless night, I went back on this site and read about acv and arthritis and muscle pain. I also read about cayenne pepper for muscle pain. I soaked a cloth with acv and cayenne pepper and placed it on my knee under a wrap around 7:30am MST, around 8:30 I noticed I was walking around a little better, 10:30 I felt as if I never had an injury. Thank you to all who care about others enough to post these remedies.

I used to have chronic knee pain until I was led to purchase and use colloidal gold. The 2 droppers under the tongue had this knee pain gone within a couple of weeks! It's amazing. Also took away this numbness I use to get in my left shoulder that stretched down my arm. It's completely gone.

Comfrey Oil, ACV

I've been suffering from meniscus tear for about 6 months. It started with me having serious digestion issues causing serious weight loss which reduced my energy and increased my pain from RA. I slept all day and everything I ate caused me severe joint pain. I went from being crazy active to bedridden in such a short period. This caused me to lose strength bc I couldn't exercise anymore. When I started feeling better but still extremely underweight, I would try to exercise slowly on my elliptical. This caused my knee pain which worsened to the point from walking to wheelchair bound.

I now suffer from a locked knee that's 40% angle and can't straighten my knee. I also didn't have health insurance so seeing a doctor was very expensive. The doctors I saw which I paid out of my pocket all wanted to give me a cortisone shot. I was too scared to try it bc of my digestion issues. I also was too scared to take Alleve bc of my digestion issues. So I just suffered pain every day all day. I tried leech therapy twice which alleviated my pain but the 3rd time, it worsened.

Finally, after 4 months of getting no sleep from my knee pain, I remembered reading about comfrey oil. Native Americans call it "boneknit" bc it heals broken bones and torn tendons. It also relieves pain and inflammation. I bought the oil and put liberally on a cloth and wrapped it around my knee and placed a heating pad on it for 30 minutes. I did this once in am and once before bed.

I also took 2 cups of apple cider vinegar baths with the hottest water I could handle.

Within 4 days, my knee pain was 95% gone and swelling down 60 -70%. I think the combo of both Apple Cider Vinegar bath and comfrey oil with heat healed some of the tear and inflammation. I'm still suffering from my tear and my knee is still swollen but I can finally see my knee cap.

Now have health insurance and can finally get surgery for it. If I had used this oil immediately after my injury, I think I would be walking and not wheelchair bound.

Btw my digestion finally improved after 8 months of being 15 lbs underweight. (110 to 92). I'm petite so this was very hard on me. My body was starving itself bc my food just wouldn't digest. Anyway, a Russian doctor told me to try Himalayan salt twice a day 1st thing am and before bed. He said to start off small and work your way up. Fortunately, I didn't have high blood pressure issues so I started with 1/4 tsp in warm water twice daily.

Within 4 to 5 days I started gaining weight. Within 2 months, I'm finally 106lbs and my food is digesting.

I have h.pylori and am still working on getting rid of it, but at least I'm gaining weight now and finally have energy and my RA pain is more bearable. I do take natural supps for my RA: turmeric, acv, lemon juice, moringa, raw honey. So that is helping the joint pain. I've seen several Dr for my meniscus tear and hopefully I will get my surgery in a few weeks and get out of this wheel chair. I hope this helps.

Agili-C

A company from Isreal called CartiHeal has something called Agili-C. It is like scaffolds, for regenerating cartilage in knees. They just got 4 patents this month, clinical trials there in Israel though. Hope the AMA allows this to happen, as real cures are forbidden-

Gelatin Powder
Posted by Helen From Houston (Houston Tx) on 01/21/2015

The OP mentions telling Knox about the cure but they weren't interested.

By USA law Knox is forbidden to be interested. No food can be sold for health effects, only drugs are allowed that. If Knox were to advertise it's food as helping knee cartilage, they would be forced to stop selling it or spend $50-100 million on double blind clinical trials to prove the validity of the claim. That's what Congress decided, it's a food with no known health benefits or it's a drug that must undergo expensive trials before being sold; supposedly this rule protects us all from scams.

Knox is not the bad guy in this game. Sites like Earthclinic are how we find out what different foods might actually do good for us, bypassing the impossible $$$$ clinical trial requirement.

Turmeric for Arthritic Knee Pain

Turmeric is amazing! I have been dealing with a swollen side of my knee because I don't have cartridge there for 2 years. I toss and turn at night if I don't have a pillow between my legs because its sore. I finally made a Dr appt with my orthopedic Dr. After doing that I remembered hearing about Turmeric and how it helps inflammation. So I shopped around to get the purest kind with pepper and found one with 1,000 mg. I took 2 pills, the suggested dose on the bottle. This was the middle of the day. By night time the swelling was reduced and I had no problem sleeping on my side without a pillow. My knee was not sore at all!!! Amazing! I'm cancelling my Dr appt.

It has been a week and the swelling has not returned!

DMSO
Posted by Robert Henry (Ten Mile, Tn) on 10/02/2016

HI U KATHY,,,,,,,,,,, worked in the 60's for the company who produced DMSO and sponsored Dr. Jacob in his research. After reading your post, I encourage you to buy and read Dr Jacob's book on DMSO. He was the DMSO guru who testified before congress when the FDA tried to outlaw the solvent.

He never advises using DMSO full strength. You use 50% above your waist and 75% below your waist. Also, Dr Jacobs did not sell his DMSO in a glass jar. He passed this last year and his company is no longer in business. I bought from his company for many years, but I don't know the plastic he used for his bottles.

Myself, I use DMSO daily on my right knee and my lumbar. I first use Bio Freeze or Voltren Gel, a topical prescription, and then add the DMSO to drive it into my ailments.

If 100% worked for your brother then I'm not going to throw rocks. There is usually a reason the experts recommend protocols. That is the reason I say read his book.

The reason DMSO has never had a FDA double blind test is that when you use it your breath smells like garlic. So folks would know if they were using DMSO or a placebo. The FDA did not want it to succeed, too effective, too cheap, natural, so it could not be patented.

Out of spit. ========ORH========

I can practically guarantee you, that once you lose the weight, your knee issues will be a thing of the past.

I gained a lot of weight during/after the birth of my daughter many years ago, and oh MAN...my knees were always aching. It took me a couple of years to finally get the weight off, and once I did, *voila*...no more knee pain!

The same was true of a co-worker who suffered with "bad knees". He was very overweight and ended up having weight-loss surgery. When he was within 10lbs of his goal weight, I asked; "How have your knees been?" (I already knew what he would answer.) He said; "They never bother me at ALL now! "

While you're losing, be kind to your knees and do a lot of walking instead of squats, etc. In the meantime, I used to find that massaging castor oil on my knees helped a lot as well. It's also helped the sore knees of many of the friends I've recommended it to as well.

I started taking Organic Raw ACV just this week and already have noticed that my knee pain has gone away. Just last week I was holding on to the banister for support when going up the stairs and today I realized I didn't need support, that the knee pain was gone. As for weight loss, nothing yet to report, but it's only been 4 days and my monthly friend is due any day now, so kind of hard to tell. I have noticed though a decrease in appetite and getting full a lot quicker. As for the taste of ACV, well I was hooked on GT Dave's Raw Kombucha tea for a while so it wasn't much of a taste difference switching to ACV. I now prefer ACV with water because it is not carbonated and it is just way cheaper than Kombucha tea. I mix 2 TBSP of ACV in 8oz water with 2 TBSP of agave nectar first thing in the morning and again at bed time. I might sneak in another serving while at work. Anyway, I read from some reviews that the weight loss is a gradual process, so don't expect it to happen over night. I would just be happy to lose the belly bloat, to be honest, which I happen to think is slowly taking place.

Cabbage

Hi. About forty years ago I badly sprained my left knee when the heel of my shoe broke. Since that time it occasionally becomes extremely painful, with a large swelling on the inside of the knee (I mean the side towards the other leg). A few years ago, however, I read about using cabbage leaves to treat joint pain and so thought I would give it a go. Hey presto! It worked. This is the treatment: Take some large dark green cabbage leaves and cut out the hard stalks. Next, in their raw state, crush them using a rolling pin until the juice starts to run a little. Then wrap them around the knee--right around and overlapping--and then apply a crepe support bandage to hold them firmly in place. This is best done just before bedtime. Go to bed, get a good night's sleep with your cosy knee held firmly in place, and wake up smelling like a compost heap. Unwrap the bandage, discarding the leaves, and test the leg gently. It works for me and also for a student I once had on a dance/drama course. He was about 16 and practically crippled with the pain from a knee that the doctors could do nothing about. He tried this remedy--and yes, it worked for him too! Excellent website--thank you.

This sure was a surprise, on Monday I had a bad molar extracted. That night at 2 a.m. I did my usual slow movement to get out of bed and slowly stood up expecting my normal extreme knee pain,,,, only to find no pain! I am completely perplexed! I am 95% better! Can a dental problem cause such pain in another area in the body?? How can it be a coincidence? This knee pain ruled over me! I am over the moon happy!! Would love to hear if anyone has had a similar experience?

Multiple Remedies

Hi

I'm female, in my seventies, and since I read an article in a health magazine in my twenties have followed a healthy diet, and my cholestrol, blood pressure, and sugar levels have always been fine. Twelve years ago I experienced twinges in my right knee, then fell and banged it, and the doctor diagnosed arthritis and when the knee worsened to have a knee replacement. I did not want to go down this path so followed the Margaret Hills Diet for Arthritis for nine months, and for twelve years have kept well.

However, two weeks ago I woke to use the loo, and had the most excruciating pain in my knee and couldn't walk. I rang the emergency health line and they arranged for me to be seen that day. Bearing in mind that overnight I'd turned from a healthy woman able to walk five to six miles with ease into an invalid, all the doctor suggested was an x ray and painkillers. I had the x ray eight days ago and am waiting for the results.

Since then all I can manage is to walk a few yards with a stick, and I feel that I've been left in limbo by the NHS.

My questions are "How come such a flare-up can happen so quickly? What caused it? Have any Earth Clinic readers experienced anything similar? And does it sound like rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis?"

I'm taking 1/8 teaspoon of borax in one litre of water a day, two teaspoons of MSM, fish oils, a sachet of gelatine, and a recently acquired health supplement containing boswellia, turmeric, UC-II standardised cartilage, and other natural ingredients (the instructions advise one capsule a day but I've doubled this). Over the years I've taken ACV with bi carb, but do not think it's done much apart from aiding digestion. I'm massaging my knee with peanut oil, castor oil, and soaking my feet in a bowl of hot water with Epsom salts (I did away with my bath in favour of a shower), and also cold compresses.

I know there are a lot of people worse off than I am, and my heart goes out to them. But the thought of not being able to walk again, not to experience the beauty of the countryside fills me with dread.

I'd be grateful for any help or advice on this. Best wishes.
