Alcohol Swabs

I woke up this morning with a bloated stomach and a feeling of low energy, which quickly turned into nausea. My first thought was food poisoning, and my second thought was "Oh no, not today. It's a big day at work and would look bad if I missed it." Also, I knew I had to be there in just a couple of hours.
Desperate, I checked here at Earthclinic and thank God I did! This trick with rubbing alcohol worked like a charm!
Here's what I did:
At home I grabbed the bottle of rubbing alcohol (that's 70% isopropyl alcohol & 30% water - standard ratio), and took a sniff. I repeated a few times over the next hour and a half, and the nausea disappeared!
Before I left for work I made myself a "just in case" dose of alcohol. I took a paper towel, folded it into thirds, and placed it into a sandwich bag. Then I added a splash of rubbing alcohol so that the paper towel was fully saturated. That went in my pocket, should I feel nauseous at work. I did end up going to the restroom and using once there. Worked fine.
Thank you so much to those who shared this gem of a remedy. You have been a life saver!
Baking Soda

Sodium bicarbonate is purported to be helpful for many health issues, but some people are more sensitive to it than others. I have seen people get diarrhea from just one level teaspoon in a glass of water.
It might be helpful to experiment with baking soda when it is "convenient" for you, to make sure you are not one of the "sensitive ones" before you actually try and treat yourself with baking soda.
Diarrhea can be a very unwanted and unexpected "surprise"!

I was bed bound with nausea until I sipped on 2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda in 2 cups of water 3 times a day and was cured. Thank you for this site.

I have been using charcoal tablets for 26 years! I suffer from stomach problems although I am much better since using natural remedies. I have recently started using baking soda and have seen amazing results!
Eliminating Lactose From Diet

Just wanted to say that this is what worked for me. I used to have intense bouts of nausea, absolutely awful. I could barely move, I just felt so sick. I couldn't leave the house for long, it was just nightmarish. I hope I never go back to feeling that bad, and it just went on and on and on.
Until... I gave up lactose. And then ta-da, no nausea! As you can imagine, I was very happy!
Now, I still have other digestive problems and probably Candidiasis or some other kind of infection down there, but in terms of the intense nausea, it's all gone!
Sometimes I get mild nausea such as after acidic food and stuff, but really, it's very mild. I have also made some other overall dietary changes, but the lactose was the main nausea trigger.
Oh, also, ginger and baking soda are both godsends!
Best of luck :)

I have found that high alkaline water is a godsend for nausea. The best part is that it tastes just like regular water. It is available at any health food store and my brother and I have found that it settles our stomachs greatly. I highly recommend it.

Ginger helps! I was nauseated yesterday and my mother had ginger mints in her car. I sucked on one and within 10 minutes I felt better. However I can't eat them back to back. They are strong. They make me burp as well.

If you do indeed have h.pylori, read everything you can find about treating it with antibiotics before actually taking it. I have h.pylori and refused to take antibiotics.
ACV-only Bragg brand works for me, other brands I tried gave me a stomach pain.

This is a very dangerous habit. When one inhales alcohol, the fumes enter the lungs, which causes some of the alcohol to get absorbed into the bloodstream. Side effects include headaches, trouble breathing, gastric issues, and even death. Look up isopropyl alcohol huffing, and read about the host of side effects people suffer from doing this.

Get some organic cotton balls. If you are right handed, put a cotton ball in your left ear, if you are left handed put a cotton ball in your right ear, this helps some people with seasickness.

I keep ginger candy on hand because it cures my occasional indigestion. But yesterday I had terrible nausea, likely from something I ate. All I could do was lay there with my eyes closed. I didn't believe that ginger could help but my husband convinced me to take a piece of ginger candy. Within 5 minutes I felt 90% better, the nausea was totally gone and I just had a little bit of yucky feeling for the rest of the day.

★★★☆☆BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS
I suffer from Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome and everything with ginger I try always works. It could be candied, tea, fresh ginger boiled in water, fresh ginger itself, pickled ginger, with or without other foods as well. Even ginger supplements in capsule form work. Everyone is different so you should find out how your stomach reacts to ginger in these different forms in case one of these ways causes stomach cramps which I have found each one has a different effect.

Ginger is one of the best remedies for nausea. You can get fresh ginger root at the health food store and make your own ginger tea. Just carefully cut off or peel the skin off it first. Cut off a few small pieces and soak them in a cup of hot water for 10 minutes or so. Then when it's cooled off enough, you can drink it like tea.
Ginger tea is also sold in tea-bag form, too.

Alcohol Swabs for Nausea - Nay.
I have nausea due to pregnancy. I soaked a cotton ball in alcohol and sniffed it a few times. I didn't notice much difference, if any. This is my 4th pregnancy, and I never vomit. I just have a sick feeling all day long. I was taking turmeric pills 2-3 times per day at first. They helped for a few days, but then I started getting reflux so bad that I would spit them up about 10 minutes later. When they would stay down, I would notice I had an offensive body odor the next day. I am waiting for acupressure bands to arrive in the mail. I hope those help. Otherwise, I will just have to deal with the nausea for 6 more weeks.

I wanted to let people know about the success I had with rubbing alcohol for naseau. I read about this idea here on earthclinic. I don't get naseau very often. However, tonight I was sitting in the bathroom with a bowl and I had naseau and the dry heaves. It was awful. I remembered about the alcohol, but I really didn't think it would work. I had nausea at it's finest. I grabbed the bottle and sniffed. I had to sniff a couple times and then it stopped. In it's tracks. It was amazing. I will never be without alcohol. There isn't anything much worse than being nauseous. Thank you to whoever posted this tidbit. I give it 10 points and a huge thumbs up!

Go to your pharmacy and get a Seaband. These go on your wrists and work by accupressure.

I am about to do a 14 day cruise (first time) but am prone to sea sickness and am worried about being on a ship this long without some good standby remedies. I know ginger is reputed to be beneficial but also would like to be able to take a range of possible cures with me. Would like to hear from the EC community on this one. Thanks.

This website has helped me on a lot of issues. I decided to give ACV a try. I could have written the post about belching and nausea from breakfast, to dinner, and to bed. This time papaya tablets would not work. Neither did rubbing alcohol, but the vinegar, YES. I am back to being a happy camper.

Yesterday my wife had outpatient surgery for a torn Meniscus. Prior to the surgery, she was given general anesthesia and morphine. The surgery went well but soon after returning home she became extremely nauseous and vomited.
Eager to help I decided to google cures for nausea and came upon your website. After reading all the posts about the use of alcohol packets to cure this condition, I decided to give it a try. I poured a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a gauze pad in a bowl for her to sniff. It was amazing, the nausea stopped almost immediately.
This was a simple folk remedy that really works and should be given more exposure to help the thousands of people who suffer from nausea every day.

Laura, your symptoms sure sound like an H-Pylori infection. I had this and it caused ulcerations like you described, as well as constant nausea, gas, burping for months. Anti-biotics will usually clear it up. They can do a blood test for this. I realize your post is a couple years old, but maybe this will help someone else. Clearly ACV worked for you.. It can work like an antibiotic. So glad you got relief.
