Coconut Oil, Turmeric

A dear friend has a horrible rash on her legs, with high fevers and pain. No doctors know the cause. Pictures have been sent to Johns Hopkins and Cleveland Clinic. I started rubbing her legs with warmed coconut oil. She was immediately better. Even more so when I added turmeric. Biopsies show inflammation only. Her legs when broken out look like untreated Relapse Fever. It is not well known in the US but is in the west and southwest. South American disease. My son diagnosed her when he was in nursing school from information out of his microbiology book. She has been tested for Relapse Fever and it has not shown up in blood tests. But, coconut oil works for her.

Cleansing Toxins and Oral Hygeine for Swollen Glands and Rash

I recently broke out in a terrible blistery rash from my waist to my face. I had been in a hot tub, so initially I assumed it was an allergic reaction to the hot tub chemicals or a bacterial infection from the pH not being right. I was wrong. But first the rest of the story:

I was taken to the ER because my throat began to swell from the inflammation and I was having difficulty breathing. There I was pumped full of antibiotics and steriods. I immediately began probiotics to counter-balance the antibiotics, although there was little to be done but suffer the side effects of the steroid treatment. After that course of treatment was complete, the rash returned to a lesser extent. Also my neck glands were painfully swollen, so I knew infection was in my body. Finally, I also noticed constipation. This was when I started putting things together.

Where was the infection coming from? The nodes in my neck indicated the source of the problem was in my head area. The answer was in my mouth: periodontal disease. It along with stress had over-taxed my immune system, so that my bloodstream is full of toxins. When I went in the hot tub (which I never had problems with before) it relaxed me and released toxins through my skin: hence the rash. It had also caused my immune system to be lower, so that I had been sicker more often recently with upper respiratory infections. Those were secondary infections, however. So when they were treated and went away, the real problem was continuing unaddressed.

So I began treating my mouth every other day with a solution of 1 tsp of household bleach to 8oz of water (this kills staph and is recommended at periodontaldiseasetreatmentguide. Com) through a water pik after a 5 minute brushing, followed by 1 minute swish of 50/50 water and hydrogen peroxide, and also began a bowel cleanse (an organic fiber blend with colon cleansing herbs). Day one of the bowel cleanse/oral disinfecting reduced all of but one of my lymph nodes to normal, and only a few small patches of rash remained. In one week, my gums are in much better condition - although I will continue to disinfect my mouth twice a week for the rest of this year to allow bone to grow where the disease created pockets inside by gums. I don't have x rays, but better to be safe than toothless or worse.

Probiotics, oral hygiene, and detoxifying is working better than the drugs because it is addressing the root of the problem. Antibiotics and steroids temporarily brought relief but not permanent cure because they did not resolve the issue of toxin overload in my bloodstream nor did they resolve the periodontal issue, prolonging and ultimately worsening matters.

It's important not to make assumptions about what appears to be allergic reaction. Swollen lymph nodes happen when there is too many toxins for your white cells to carry, and these cause problems and symptoms in all kinds of ways in the body. They get expelled either through your hind end or through your pores. So if you have a combination of symptoms like mine, consider cleaning your mouth and bowels as a first step.

Eliminate Steroid Cream, Ice Packs

Hi Gert from Someplace, please go to itsan.org and read about topical steroids and steroid inhalers and red skin syndrome. From your post it sounded like your husband's problem started before he used any steroids and the steroids made him worse. I hope he is not using any still. For some people they cause an eczema-like reaction and the only thing you can do is stop using them and allow your body to naturally detox and heal. If the antibiotics caused problems then look into probiotic foods - yogurt and fermented vegetables. Good luck!

I went to look and it said redman syndrome is from a reaction to a certain antibiotic and even children get it, causes a rash, chills, fever, pain , and redness around neck. It talked about high dose IV of Benadryl which is an anti histamine, that would stop an allergic response.

Maybe baking soda would help, it stops allergic reactions. I use to take it when I was freaking out from something I breathed or ate or touched.

My husband has had a rash since the tornadoes of 2011--we thought it was a reaction to that dust. He also got a lung infection, so dr put him on antibiotics--rash appeared then. So, onto steroids, rash got worse. He's tried every inhaler for copd, everything give him/exacerbates the rash. Pharmacist said redman syndrome. Poor guy, he's so miserable. Any suggestions? Oh, he won't take any supplements. Just won't. So, I have to prepare foods that will fix it, or lotions, etc. Thanks.

Thank you Earth Clinic! I was suffering from "Red Man Syndrome" due to using the Steriod cream Triamcinolone Acetonide! The horrible rash was on both feet and traveling up both legs! I was extremely depressed! I felt like I had leprosy! The condition was blood red in color! A poster posted a "heads up" regarding this skin problem and the use of the steroid creams and I was able to identify with his post. I stopped using the Steroid cream and left my rash ALONE. Ice Packs really helped the problem for me. My Red man Syndrome is nearly healed competely! Thank you poster and thank you EARTH CLINIC! This rash can take a month to peak so be patient. Leave it alone, sun bathe and use ice packs. (My condition healed almost immediately after leaving it alone)

I've had a terrible rash mostly on my legs and sometimes my face for the past 10 yrs. All of my pores are raised, skin is extremely dry and tight, breaks easily and is hot to the touch. My legs also have reddish purple tint whereas the rest of my skin does not. It also itches unbearably! My legs have to be in open air and freezing all the time to get any relief. I mix org olive oil w/ org aloe based lotion and apply up to 5 times a day with no relief. I also have candida in my lungs which I thought could be the issue but I'm not so sure anymore. I'm incredibly strict w/ my diet and have basically only eaten meat and veggies for the past 8 yrs. I also rotate anti fungals regularly. I have no energy and weak immune system. Please help with your feedback. I need relief!

To Caitlin from San Diego: You might try wearing rubber gloves or surgical gloves (get these at the pharmacy) when bathing the dogs. I had the same issue when giving my own dog baths. Wearing gloves protected by hands.

Bathing dogs is part of my job, unfortunately the HARSH shampoos we use cause me to have a horribly painful, red, and slightly swollen rash on my hands and forearms. It's only dog shampoos however. Dish soap doens't do it to me. I have tried everything. Nothing prevents it except not bathing, vaseline does nothing to help the pain, and lotion only makes the stinging unbearable. I tried some unrefined coconut oil tonight. Within 5 minutes, the pain was gone. Completely. Still a bit red, but that is easing up a bit too. Not sure if it's an allergy, but it's similar to when I break out from handeling certain dog breeds. So I am assuming allergies have something to do with it.

Peppermint oil is amazing, I just put three drop in I tablespoon of virgin coconut oil with a few drops of Vitamin E and it starts working. Essential oils are miracle but you must do your research before you try it... You NEVER use it essential oils full strength, they must be diluted.

Jelly from Farnborough, what you have sounds like a case of shingles, which is from a type of herpes virus that initially manifests as chicken pox, I believe. It can be triggered by stress or sunlight, and the symptoms are basically as you describe. I don't think it's staph.

When my son came home from a two week job in Tampa, he had contracted some sort of horrible itchy rash that was spreading from his knee area up and down his leg. Had he been home I would have started using grapefruit seed extract on it right away. At any rate, it was so far along he decided to go to the doctor for treatment with corticosteroids. Because I was worried about catching it from him, which I did because I was doing his laundry, I kept apple cider vinegar, grapefruit seed extract, lavender, and calendula ointment in my medicine cabinet, just in case. Well, sure enough, about a week after he came home I got a little spot on my leg that was very, very itchy. I immediately began a ritual of dousing it with apple cider vinegar, then a drop of grapefruit seed extract, then a drop of lavender and following up with a dot of calendula ointment. After 2 days it began to subside and the itching was gone. Whatever that stuff was that he brought home, it was tenacious!!

About 5 days later a tiny pinhead of a spot showed up on my hand between my index and middle finger. It itched like heck and I was really worried that I was going to have a huge outbreak like my sons. I began the same routine as before and after 2 days it began to subside. A week later, even though the little spot left a scar, it has not spread nor been a further bother.

I believe the routine of acv, gse, lavender and calendula kept it at bay and that one of these or all was a great contributor to that. In the past, when I have had small rashes break out like that, I have tried everything I knew at that time, such as calamine, benadryl, ivy stop, etc. And none of them ever kept it from spreading. It would always spread throughout my body and I would have to finally go to doc for something. They always prescribed prednisone. Yes, that would work, but I believe that that was one of the reasons I became adrenal fatigued. So, nowadays I try to avoid the use of steroids. It was on this site that I was able to figure out what might possibly be useful that was natural. I am grateful that this site is here and I hope this will help someone else make a useful determination for themselves.

I've tried coconut oil and acv, none worked. Then I filled a bag with ice and placed it on where my rash appears. I did it when I was watching an hour long tv show. By the end of it, gone!

First, I am so thankful to have found this site. After spending hundreds of $$$ at my vet, and my poor 2 little Shih Tzu's scratching till they bleed, (on top of that, I am battling chemotherapy) i was desperate. No kidding........... One rinse of the ACV and I could see a noticeable improvement. Get this, i am an rn by trade, and it didn't even occur to me. Their hair is growing back, no itching whatsoever, and their hair is shiny! on top of that, my father in law, who has battled dandruff for 40 years is now rinsing in acv and all signs of his dandruff are gone.

Thank you so much for all your help, and esp my poor pups thank you! may god bless!! sheila :)

ACV worked when nothing else would. I have a rash on my face from detoxing. I tried coconut oil, oil of oregano, and black castor oil. I then remembered Earth Clinic and came to the site to see what others have tried with success. The ACV has reduce the rash by 30-40% in 1 day. I will continue use it 2-3 time a day until it's gone. Thanks Earth Clinic! I've gotten great suggestions from this site.

I've searched everywhere but I can't find any threads that match my heat rash. It only happens when I've caught the sun, then two days later I come up in a nasty bumpy really itchy rash which seems to have fluid in the bumps. I've tried everything but nothing works, I'm sure its related to Candida though. Anyone have any ideas?? Many thanks.

Soap, Hydrogen Peroxide

I thought what I had was poison oak, but it wouldn't go away. It was an inexplicable rash that came right up to the outside corner of my eye with little irritating, nearly invisible, itchy bumps. I did a search online, and found someone else who had done cortisone and all sorts of other silly doctor prescribed medicines and then finally tried washing the area with soap, drying it, and then applying hydrogen peroxide. Worked for him. Worked for me. The bumps dried up, my skin got scaly, and then it went away.

I started breaking out in a rash all over my torso a month and a half ago. After two weeks of ineffectual colloidal oatmeal baths, rewashing all my laundry (twice! ) and a few days with groggy head from benadryl, I went to the doctor. She and the other doctor in residence had no idea what my rash was, nor did the resident skin specialist, nor did a dermatologist. Over the last month, I've been scraped and poked, been given prednisone (for 20 days! ), perscription strength steroid creams, and all kinds of anti-histamines. All of this cost me tons of money -- I'm an uninsured college student -- and nothing worked. The swelling would decrease for a few days, then nothing! In the meantime, the rash continued to grow and coalesce and spread to my breasts and legs. I stopped wearing undergarments (too painful! ) and couldn't sleep at night. The steroids gave me a vaginal yeast infection and made me so hungry all the time, I put on 12 pounds! Needless to say, I was absolutely miserable, itchy all the time, depressed and reduced to rubbing ice on my body. Finally, I googled "cure for rash" came here, and TA DAH!!!! In six days of treatment with ACV, I am COMPLETELY CURED.

I started with organic ACV from the grocery store. It was $5.00. I mixed 1/2 cup ACV with 1/2 cup water, grabbed a paper towel and dabbed it all over my body. It stung badly, but my rash was pretty itchy at the time. In literally TWO MINUTES, the swelling of my bumps decreased dramatically, so much so that I started taking pictures to send my mom.

I went to bed, woke up in the middle of the night itchy again, so I dabbed myself liberally again (it still stung), and the itching stopped again after about 2 minutes of hopping around and swearing. Thye next morning I woke up to a very diminished rash! Over the next three days, the big bumps flattened and dried. Then they started peeling and fading to nothing. The second day, I stopped dabbing with paper towels, and started taking 15 minute luke warm baths, morning and night, with about 4-5 cups of the good apple cider vinegar. I also got a spray bottle for any itching emergencies that came up during the day. After the third day, there haven't been any! The transformation has been so rapid and so remarkable that I went back to my doctor. She confessed she has pretty severe eczema, has been on steroid reams for a long time to very little use, and will now try ACV!

Thank you, so much, all the people who contributed their stories! If there hadn't been so many people who told of their success, I'd never have tried it myself. I'm a changed woman! And now, I'm curious -- what other home remedies are there that I never knew about?

My 1 yr old has been with a so call "wild rash" for the past 2 weeks I took her to her Dr. and was given Atarax and Clotrimazole which did little to nothing but make her dig her skin out till it bleed as well as start talking in her sleep and sleep walking. I was at my wits end until I read about ACV. This has become my savior after reading about it I went asap to the nearest supermarket bought the biggest bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar and started working on her. When I first applied it she screamed so loud she started to tremble and drool she said Ma its burning please stop it but I kept applying within "and I timed it" 7 mintues she said Ma I'm not burning or itching anymore. So its now 15 mintues later and the kid is playing and haven't scratch not one time. I'm so happy I read this article cause I'm so sleepy from the past 2 weeks. Thanks for the help I'm greatful.

I went to a dermatologist for this and he put me on antibiotics. It cleared it up but then he said "now we just wait and see if it comes back and it usually does". He said he had no idea what the cause was but that I would probably need stronger antibiotics when it comes back. About 6 months later it did. So I googled it and that's when I first learned about a little thing called "candida overgrowth". I went off grains and sugar and it cleared up immediately. I still eat some corn but stay away from sugar and wheat and that has kept the rash away. The info was so easy for me to find on the internet. I can't help but wonder why that dermatologist didn't know. It's his job right? Studied all about the skin in medical school, huh? But he still doesn't have a clue? Really?

I have had a terrible rash that started 1 year ago. It started in my armpits, and moved under my breasts. It was like pimples that drained acid. Peeling layer after layer. I tried everything I could find. Then found article from Jim Hummel (mms). I think I got a computer virus from this one, but well worth it. He stated if mms does not help, or seems to make rash worse, than the treatment for it is 50/50 calcium bentonite clay/ vaseline. Mix together and spread over entire area every 8 hours for 1 week. Then a thin coat once a day for a month. If the rash is extremely bad, been there for awhile then you should take tbl. in water, daily for month as well. Sure I'm greasy, and staying close to home for a month... But the pain and rash was gone in three days!
