Funny enough the tooth paste I use since I gave up on fluoride contains salt. It is a Veleda toothpaste which at least here in Europe you can find in any health shop of pharmacy. After trying it the first time I had my pink tongue back!

Hello there.... I enjoy cooking immensely and use various if not all the spices I can get my hands on.... Because I love the robust flavor! There is nothing more irritating than eating Bourbon Glazed Salmon and having it taste like nothing... UGH UGH... Knowing that my spices have many uses, I began to dig around for what would fix the all time annoying "white tongue".... Hence I couldnt taste any of my robust flavors....

So, I came across the salt fix. Needless to say, after about 10 minutes and looking like a St. Bernard (the drooling )which I thought was quite funny by the way.... Here is what I did.... I salted my tongue with the sea salt, brushed my tongue with the sea salt, gargled with the sea salt... And lo and behold... Ten minutes later.. I found my pink tongue!!!!!!

Tommy, I have the Pylori bacteria from a blood test only and have been on BETAINE HCL for many months now and I can state firmly that I never experience the type of stomach pain attributed to the common Pylori infection. I will know soon if this bacteria is in fact active in my system from a urea breath test that I will be taking in 3 weeks from now. If the test is positive then that will explain why my stomach produces such little acid and put in doubt your theory that the Pylori bacteria thrive in an acidic environment. The internal structure of the stomach lining is of course much less acidic than the stomach itself. How do you explain the fact that the Pylori bacteria always prefer to live and grow inside the stomach lining being the main reason behind the inability of our immune system to destroy it ? Thanks

Hi Mike,
The rescue therapy against H. Pylori requires HIGH DOSAGE OF PPI to expose H. Pylori. The first treatment against H. Pylori was amoxicillin alone but that treatment had very low rate of success. Studies after that showed that when amoxicillin was coupled with an PPI or acid reducer, the eradication rate increased incredibly. That can be understood because H. Pylori NEEDS the acid to survive. The ammonia it produces increases the inflammation of the stomach and it's concentration dependent which means more acid more ammonia. Also HCL makes H. Pylori reproduce to have more colonies to handle the acid. Adding HCL to an infected stomach with H. Pylori is adding gasoline to the fire.

To answer your first question is that ACV is only alkaline at the tail end of the digestive process. The same applies to lemon juice as well. Initially when ACV is ingested it is at this point extremely acidic in the stomach and becomes quite capable of reducing and even preventing heartburn. But that is really a band aid solution because ACV does not have the same vital chemical features HCL is capable of. As mentioned earlier ACV works just because it reduces the PH value of the stomach being the main trigger mechanism for keeping the valve shut against escaping acid into the esophagus. That is why it is so effective in preventing heartburn. You could have just as well used another type of vinegar with the same results as long as it has an extremely low PH value. The pylori bacteria can survive only because it is capable of hiding inside the stomach lining away from stomach acid. HCL will serve to only make it very difficult for the pylori bacteria to move around in the stomach and thus render it almost completely inactive.

On the other hand, very low stomach acid will allow this bacteria to navigate very freely and that is how the bacteria can do most harm to the body! There are of course specific treatment programs just for the Pylori bacteria that does not involve HCL and should be followed to eradicate it at once if its existence is confirmed inside the stomach. Sufficient stomach acid only serves to decrease its mobility inside the stomach. I hope this has answered all of your questions.

Dear Mike,
I'm a bit confused about your theory. You mentioned that ACD works because it's acidic. But some other guys here said that because it's alkalizing. What is the more plausible theory?

Also regarding H. Pylori, HCL presence is crucial for the bacteria and in the rescue therapy, HIGH DOSE of PPI are required to eradicate the bacteria and disturbed the biofilms. You don't think that HCL will just help the bacteria to increase in colonies rather than kill it?

I hope that Mr Ted can help us out here. I'm really confused. Thank you very much Mike :).

WHEN SHOULD YOU START USING BETAINE HCL ?

Here is a simply way to determine if you really have a serious low acidic stomach and I must caution you it is not pretty to talk about!

(1):When there is much undigested food particles in your stools.

(2):Your stools becomes small in size, consistently yellowish in color and mostly sinking.

(3):Whenever you consume fat or meat, your stools are very smelly. The main role of Stomach acid is to convert proteins to peptides for easier assimilation, stimulate the flow of bile and pancreatic enzymes.

(4):Excessive stomach gas and bloating after a meal. I was suffering from all of the above and clearly saw concrete results from my stool appearance as being floating, larger in size, dark brown colored with the consistency of toothpaste. That is considered as normal stool for a healthy individual. Since then my stool has never reappeared as yellowish in color! The subject of gallstone is an explosive subject on the internet. Did you know that the low PH of Stomach acid actually STIMULATES the liver to producing bile? Low stomach acid causes the liver to be sluggish which in turn leads to the formation of dangerous gallstones in the gall bladder because bile does not flow properly into the gallbladder causing thickening of bile fluid that eventually produces stones.

A safer and equally effective solution is to use apple cider vinegar with your meals. Lemon juice from a freshly squeezed lemon is also equally good to help digestion. 1 tblspn of either or in a small amount of water or pomegranate juice is perfect. Other juices are not really as good as pomegrante juice as pomegranate juice is so high in antioxidants that it is in itself a mineral supplement, and other juices are not as safe in that they have high fructose corn syrup etc in them. This recommendation is very effective in elminating digestion problems. It truly works, give it a try. Good luck, Ellen

Absolutely. Have you ever considered the following in relation to stomach acid and Candida:

If only people can start taking this matter more seriously about the importance of maintaining minimum stomach acid levels in their body then they would not experience half the symptons they are now currently struggling with. With sufficient HCL did you known that Calcium, iron, zinc and potassium can be absorbed more efficiently into the body. It is incredibly unfortunate to those who spend a fortune on supplements without realizing that their body can only absorb perhaps as much as 20% of the substance because of low stomach acid. What a waste of money! Also did you know that the infamous Pylori bacteria cannot survive in a healthy acidic stomach environment ? Those that have died from cancer related to the damage cause by this bacteria perhaps could have had a much better survival rate if they would have focused specifically on maintaining proper acid level in their stomach. Why do you think that Apple Cider Vinegar has such an impact against a disease like GERD ? I will give you a hint, Apple Cider Vinegar is very acidic and works only because it raises the acidity of the stomach. Betaine HCL is far more potent for raising the acidity to even much greater heights. The following excerpt from a website summarizes my feeling about BETAINE HCL:


"While it certainly is an inconvenience to supplement stomach acid with each meal for a lifetime it may be less inconvenient than the alternatives. It is well known that hypochlorhydria (lack of stomach acid) is associated with increased risk of stomach cancer, and this may be due to the conversion of nitrites into cancer inducing nitrosamines in an abnormally alkaline stomach. Also, intestinal overgrowth of bacteria and the incidence of parasitic infections is increased when stomach acid is low. Risk of cancer, risk of parasites, expected bacterial overgrowth and remember the always present yeast organism, ever ready to become a problem — all adds up to a lot more inconvenience than popping a few betaine HCL caps with each meal. "

Let me conclude by suggesting the admin of this website to open a special new thread focusing very specifically on the use and health benefits of BETAINE HCL. For some like myself this could become their only cure for they disease.

Thank you very much for sharing with us your experience. That also could be explained by the acid killing candida. Because I remember reading that anti acids ( histamine blockers and PPI) can cause Candida infection in the stomach and the esophagus. What do you think?

You might say that after 1 year of having to endure a white tongue I have developed a real obsession in trying to find a cure for it. I have tried just about every method described on this website but without success and not even temporary success. Now I can sit back and celebrate BECAUSE I HAVE FOUND A CURE FOR THIS MYSTERIOUS AND FRUSTRATING DISEASE!!!! There are many reasons for a white tongue but the one that affected me for so long was really the result of ACID REFLUX not Candida as I originally thought from the beginning. It was only after I finished my last packet of treelac considered as probably one of the most promising cure against Candida that I realized that it may all along have been simply acid reflux. What finally worked for me is a CONTROLLED dosage of BETAINE HCL without risking in finding myself in surgery with a hole in my stomach. In case some of you don't know, BETAINE HCL is really pure stomach acid in a capsule with a PH less than 2 enough to burn through metal!! Here is the theory behind my complete success for eliminating my white tongue:

White tongue for me proved to be the greatest health challenge of my life as this was the result of 2 major heartburn, a fever, and a little jaundice. Since I have totally changed my eating habits by favoring raw fruits and vegetables along with stomach enzymes and of course Betaine HCL, I have not experience another major heartburn for more than 10 months. My last major heartburn caused me to have WHITE stool and in the medical profession that is serious S***T!!!! Another major heartburn could have potentially permanently damaged one or several of my vital internal digestive organ including my liver. Your body should secrete more acid naturally if you continue with the consumption of BETAINE HCL for a little while until you cannot ingest a single capsule without feeling a burning sensation in your stomach. At this point your white tongue is COMPLETELY CURED since your body will no longer need to secrete this white thick mucus that ends up on your tongue. When I started using BETAINE HCL, most website suggest no more than 3 or 4 500mg capsules at mealtime before feeling a slight burning sensation in the stomach. For me I would consume 12 capsule per meal or 24 capsules in a day without feeling ANY burning sensations!!! This goes to show how low my stomach acid really was that got me seriously ill in the first place. Now I am down to only 5 capsules per meal and improving with each passing day. My tongue is nice and red most of the time so that is a tremendous relief for me. Oil pulling cured a small but painful white bump on the tip of my tongue! I had it for a few days and it was very painful. I remembered oil pulling a while back and the thought came to me to give it a try. It actually relieved all pain while I was swishing. The next morning I awoke and walla-- no bump, no pain, completely gone. Amazing! I have started oil pulling again. I had forgotten how good I feel afterwards. I used olive oil.

I had a very red, sore tongue for over a year. Went to an ENT who tried antibiotics & also zinc. Nothing helped. I eventually had a spectracell blood analysis done to determine what vitamins I was deficient in, although this was done for general health and not related to the sore tongue issue. As it turned out I was deficient in 5 vitamins including folate. When reading up on the symptoms of folate deficiency I was surprised to see sore tongue as one of them. After taking folate for just a few days the red, tender tongue was cured. I was also deficient in B12 which I see others have indicated might be involved w/ sore tongue issues. Hope this helps someone out there!

Re: Leukoplakia? I know that black pepper, garlic oil and cinnamon are anti-fungal since I used that mix for peach leaf curl on my trees. Maybe gargling and swallowing a tea of these would help. My sore mouth was relieved by safflower blossom tea, but you could also add nettle and turmeric/black pepper and/or ginger as they are good for inflammatory conditions.

hi, i have a problem with leukoplakia, a white raspy covering on the bottom of my tongue. it can be sore. there is also some inflammation, further making swallowing more difficult. my mouth sometimes bleeds when brushing teeth. treating it for fungus c nilstat at the moment). ive had it for a few years and it getting worse. have you any ideas? its been mentioned that methylcobalamine or turmeric may be helpful. i have visited different practitioners with no positive results. i am a vegetarian with no eggs. i dont drink or use drugs. any help would be appreciated. thanks, magenesta

Aloha, I have been oil pulling for 2 1/2 years, once a day in the morning.....It is one of my daily health giving rituals. My teeth are sparkling white, gums holding my teeth solidly in place, but I still occasionally have a bout with a sore tongue issue....So the question Kathy from Canada had on your site asking if oil pulling helps with sore tongue problems...I would say no, unless I should be doing it more often (2-3 times daily) when I have tongue distress. I will try the apple cider vinegar and baking soda cure next time.... Isn't this a great site !! The ACV, honey in hot water cured my cough, and the cayenne gargle fixed up my throat....Thanks for all the valuable information.

Basil really helped with my burning tongue, just chew it for awhile, I chewed on the strings of it from my Herb garden, it numbed it and took away the burning feeling, but if I would eat or drink something the tongue would burn again. I definately cannot eat anything hot or spicey or it sets my tongue on fire. I also tried popcycles, it was like chewing ice but better and yummier, suger-free gum helps alot but I got tired of chewing gum! I told my doctor but seems like he didn't care or did not know what to do. I am going to go to my dentist to see if he has any anwers. I might get a test for Celiac disease to see if that is what it is, I eat alot of wheat bread??? I cannot keep going on with my tongue burning, it is such a pain in the neck or really alot of burning pain on my tongue. If you have any ideas to help me I would appreciate your help!!!!!

For years my sister had a very painful red and cracked tongue and a sore mouth. She was prescribed various medications but none of them helped. Then she had her amalgam fillings replaced with porcelain, but still no relief.

One day someone suggested it might be caused by food additives namely sulphites. She eliminated all foods with E numbers (E220-E228) and since then she's had no more sore tongue or mouth.

Very occasionally she'll have a bit of a sore tongue but she can usually trace it back to something she ate in a restaurant.

Thank you for your miracle site. Being pensioners money is an affliction in itself. What joy to find this site. Well here is my small contribution.

Re-aligning a dropped little tongue. At the onset of a bout of sore throat or flu, the small tongue seems to drop back into the throat, affecting the ability to swollow. and is also very uncomfortable, almost worse than the flu its self. Take a small amount of pepper, preferbly white pepper, on the very tip of a round tipped knife and carefully dab onto the tip of the little tongue. This will pull the tongue back into position.

I tell anyone who will listen about this amazing site.

I got out of the VA hospital a day before Thanksgiving. I could swallow baby food and I had a hard time swallowing water. They had me on Prilosec for a couple of years due to acid reflux. A number of factors (stress and aspirin) wrong diet, put me over the edge. In the hospital I spoke to several gastro-intestinal doctors and mentioned my burning tongue. None of them had ever heard of such a thing.They all kept refering to a possible metalic taste in my mouth. They scoped my stomach took a biopsy and told me that I had a lot of Peptic ulcers in my stomach and a condition called "Eosinophilic Esophagitis" in my esophagas. They wanted me to continue to take the Prilosec and a Corto-steroid throat inhaler. It has been 4 weeks since I left the hospital. I have not taken these drugs, and I have resorted to natural cures (Kefer, aloe vera juice, leafy green soups, baked squash, yogurt, none of which has seemed to cure the burning tongue that occurs minutes after I eat something. I have started on your ACV and baking soda. I can already tell it's working. I also have itching all over my body that flares up from time to time, usually after I eat something. The itching is very intense. I have been taking "Doxapin" for it for about 7 years. Now I am not taking any alopathic medicine. I have just turned 67 years of age and finially want to do the best for my body, not my impulses. This has been a tough lesson. Thank you for your website.

Burning tongue-Mouth issues: When you have burning tongue or canker sores on tongue or in mouth. Do not drink any orange juice, ketchup, sauce etc. The best cure I have found is to rinse your mouth will Karo syrup. It seems to neutralize the acid. Also 2% hydrogen peroxide.
