At first I thought it was my imagination because I didn't dare get my hopes up, but I kept taking the selenium. Now after a little over a year, I have a significant amount of hair so that my scalp doesn't show anymore. I also take B-complex 50 mg x4 and folic acid 800 mcg x 3. I've recently reduced the amount of selenium to 600 mcg since I noticed my nails flaking which is a sign that there may be too much selenium in the system. I also use coconut oil to moisturize my hair. I leave the coconut oil in my hair overnight and wash my hair in the morning. I do this a few times per week on alternating days. A couple of points...
1...the Biotine I used was capsules of 5,000 mcg each. Possibly your 300 mcg caps are not enough for this purpose. Has the hair loss cause been removed?
2...the hair on the crown of your head grows an average of 1/2 inch per month, so if the rest of your nutrition is adequate, you should start seeing some fuzz on the previously bald areas at the 4 to 6 week point.

It will burn for about 15-20mins later after you rinse off. Put on your hair for 2-3x/week. Week 2 should be not too bad as it will not burn as much. In about 2-3 weeks, you should notice some hair growth if you do it regularly. Also, on week 2 or 3, increase dosage to two capsules and keep increasing it to however you can handle. I have been visiting my favorites since answering Cindy's email and thought I would give you some information found to pass on to all EC'ers with hair loss problems. I will e-mail you the articles I gleaned the information from in case you want to read them afterwards, but I will give a short shot of helpful hints that I think will be all that most of our EC family will want. Going to the plant database I found several chemicals listed as anti-alopecics (anti-baldness).
They are linoleic acid, palmitic acid, inositol, oleic acid, linoleic acid and zinc.
Zinc is found in meats, seafoods, dairy products, nuts, legumes, whole grains and you'll even find 23 parts per million of zinc in turmeric or curcumin, and 13-17 parts per million in the coconut. If you take zinc supplements it is recommended that you not take more than 50 mgm. per day and stay with zinc gluconate as it consistently holds the lowest amount of cadmium which naturally occurs with it. (Cadmium is that toxic metal in the news now because it is being found in children's and adult jewelry made in India and China). Zinc has many other functions besides preventing hair loss, but this what we are concerned with today. You can easily search them on line to learn the others.
Inositol is "vital for hair growth", also combines with choline to form lecithin and reduces cholesterol. It's calming effect on the nervous system is thought to have an effect on depression, panic attacks obsessive-compulsive disorder and bipolar affective disorder (used to be called manic-depressive disorder), plays a role in preventing and treating cancer, improves nerve conduction velocity in diabetics, and used in constipation therapy by improving peristalti action. Inositol is found in dried beans, calves liver, cantaloupes, citrus fruits (except for lemons), garbanzo beans (chick peas), lecithin granules, nuts, oats, pork, rice, veal and whole grains. The resin, exudate and sap of the coconut palm has 690 parts per million of inositol.
The coconut (seed) also has 584-18,694 parts per million of another anti-alopecic chemical called linoleic acid. Our lovely, tasty coconut also has 770 parts per million of magnesium in its seed which adds another long list of anti-chemicals to this coconut. The coconut hull husk also has lignin 294,000 parts per million which is antibacterial, anticancer, anticoronary, anti-diarrheic, anti-HIV, antioxidant,antitumor, antiviral, chelator, hypocholesterolemic, laxative, and pesticide. I started taking 1 to 3 Tbl molasses and my hair started filling in and getting thicker.
Later I started taking biotin from 1000 mcg to 3000 mcg a day and it also helped my hair get thicker.
Both the biotin and molasses separately help my hair grow. I took molasses for about 6 months and quit taking it and then started in on the biotin for around 3 months and have hair that is about 2 1/2 inches long. I part my hair in the middle and there is new growth about 2 1/2 inches long all over my head but most noticable where I part my hair as the new growth is all the same length and the rest of my hair is shoulder length. To cure hair loss and have hair regrowth, the Bedouin here use grass oil (like normal grass in your garden turned into oil... it is a very thick oil.. just a bit thicker than olive oil sometimes as thick, if you get one that is watery know you have been cheated and its mixed with water or other things)
It is so effective I am 26 years old and I could never grow a full goatee ( always wanted one :P ) so I used it for about a week on the empty area and hair grew where none was!

If I may say the name here, I have personally used HealthCheck USA online a few times for various bloodwork. It's a very fast and easy service and totally legit. You get the blood drawn at the same labs the doctors send you to (like LabCorp); the only difference is that it's WAY cheaper than going through the doc if you're uninsured and paying out of pocket as I was, and the results go to you directly.
Assuming by your name that you are male, if you do end up needing to supplement with iron due to low ferritin levels, get rechecked periodically to ensure your levels don't go too high.
The foot fungus and allergy issues you mentioned - have you looked into candida? That could possibly contribute to hair loss as well. There's a lot of info here on EC about candida.

I always had really thick hair which I took for granted but over the past few years it had been shedding at a more and more rapid pace. It began to look thin, and I had a handful of maybe fifteen hairs nearly every time I ran my hand through it. YEA for iodine & borax (dandruff)
After the birth of my son 15 years ago, I had more hair loss every time I brushed or washed my hair than I had ever had before. I always had long, almost waist-length, thick hair. After the birth, I became so distressed over the thinning, dryness, & split ends that I cut my hair to chin-length. I kept trying to grow it long but every few years "chopped" it again due to split ends. My hair is medium-coarse and never seemed thin to people who cut my hair but I could tell the difference.
About a year ago I started taking biotin. I take 5mg per day, and I get a bottle of 300 capsules (10 months' supply) for $12, so this is a very affordable, no fuss remedy! It took a month or two to notice a real difference, but my hair loss became minimal. My hair is now so thick, and has grown past my shoulder blades for the first time in 15 years! Also, there are very few split ends--even though this doesn't make much sense, as only the new growth would be affected by the biotin, but it's true (a few months ago I bought some very sharp scissors and trimmed my split ends, but they haven't come back). And my hair is growing a little faster; it used to grow no more than 1/2 inch per month (I color my hair 3-4 times per year, and occasionally measure) and now it is growing almost 1 inch per month.
Another hair problem I had for about 20 years was dandruff. This started when I was 16. I tried many, many supplements, diet changes and topical remedies over the years with no results (except for a liquid zinc treatment for excema--this helped but didn't cure). I eventually tried a dandruff shampoo, which would give me relief for no more than 24 hours. I really didn't want to do this, but if I didn't I would actually get scabs in addition to incessant itching & painful inflammation.
A few weeks ago I bought a "liquid kelp" iodine supplement, took a dropperful twice a day in water and within 48 HOURS I had ZERO FLAKES! This is after 20 years of discomfort, self-consciousness, and not being able to wear black or use nicer shampoos! I recently found another supplement that has 150mcg iodine per drop, and I take 2-3 drops per day.
About 2-3 weeks after starting the iodine, I had a VERY slight return of the dandruff. But now I am not using dandruff shampoo at all. I shampoo, douse my scalp with a borax solution (1-2 tablespoons in 2 cups of water), let that sit for a couple of minutes, then condition. My scalp is super clean, I can go several days without shampooing (when I had the dandruff I had to shampoo every other day), and my hair seems softer & less frizzy.
As for my adrenal problem, it's not entirely fixed. Underlying infections can pull adrenal function down. I had a huge double abscess tooth removed last year, but I was disappointed that my energy did not increase. I seem to be carrying a virus that we cannot identify and have allergies that occasionally fog my head so much I walk into walls. (Claritin-D cuts that one right quick!) I was tested by a hematologist for everything they could think of. Allopathically, my bloodwork was normal. I ran the results by a naturopath: two indicators pointed to either parasites or low iron or both. Nobody seems to want to believe I have parasites! Herbals for hormonal causes - I don't personally recall seeing that saw palmetto shouldn't be taken by women, but I've read that it can *potentially* cause weight gain. If that's a concern, an alternative to try could be nettle root and pygeum. And take with lysine, as lysine has been shown to boost the effectiveness of DHT blockers. Ensure adequate zinc intake as zinc is also a DHT blocker, but keep in mind that it is very important to balance zinc with copper (2mg copper to every 30mg of zinc).
Nutritional - Top of the list in my opinion is to have your ferritin levels checked, particularly as low ferritin is common in thyroid problems, which you mentioned having. Ferritin is the stored iron in the body, and is present in hair follicles. You can actually have normal serum iron but low ferritin, so it's the ferritin you want checked for this. Low ferritin can result in hair loss, and if you're low you won't successfully regrow much no matter what you do until the levels are improved. Ferritin levels should be at least 70-90. I wouldn't suggest iron supplementation until you know your status for sure (especially for men), as excess iron can be dangerous. In your diet, have some orange juice or something with vitamin C in it when consuming iron-rich foods like red meats, spinach etc., as vitamin C aids iron absorption. Avoid tea for awhile after iron intake as the tannins in tea can block iron absorption - same goes for wine.
With your thyroid you might also check into whether you have adequate selenium and iodine intake as these are vital to thyroid function. There's a vicious circle with thyroid and ferritin problems, so you'd want to address all sides.
Let's not forget that the basics count here too - a good overall diet, stress reduction, organic shampoos, etc. And TIME! Hair can take awhile to show changes.

I went through nine years of hell with hair loss, which started at perimenopause. I would be out to dinner with a friend and hunks of hair would fall into my plate. I'd wash my hair and would fill up the toilet bowl with the hair that would come out. (And yes, I originally had a ton of hair, below the shoulder in length and very thick.) This wasn't just a general thinning, but patchy fallout and breakage. Every winter the hair would change texture, get hard as a rock and break off at the roots at the left side of the crown and at the nape of the neck. When I couldn't hide the damage, I wore wigs. I wore wigs for five out of those nine years. Doctors and herbalists couldn't find the cause. My thyroid checked out normal on blood tests; I did not have a fungal infection of the scalp. I tried everything I could think of: MSM worked for a little while, so did Black Walnut Hull tincture. I had some luck with Black Cohosh for a year, then it rebounded on me and I had to stop.
Finally, in 2006, a friend of mine sent me to a lecture on adrenal fatigue. I later had myself "spit" tested for levels of estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, thyroid hormones, cortisol and DHEA. Well, it turns out that at 5PM each day, I had no cortisol. Zip, nada. My adrenals were in trouble and there was no way they could take over and compensate for the lowered hormone output of menopause. The protocol for raising levels of cortisol is to take DHEA and Pregnenalone (sp?). Unfortunately, between slop bucket hot flashes, extreme fatigue and flipping out, I was too sensitive to take those "precursor" hormones.
Four months after this, I got very sick with Bronchitis and could not get rid of it for three months. A herbalist I was seeing for the Bronchitis decided that my problems were nutritional and prescribed a herbal mix that I was to take as nutrients and not as medicine. Formula:
Put 1/2 teaspoon of Raspberry Leaf in infuser or strainer.
Pour boiling water in cup to cover. Steep for 10 minutes, or if you like, to lukewarm.
Drink a cup of this twice a day. When your hair is recovered, reduce to once a day.
Kelp: 1/4 teaspoon twice a day; once in AM, once in late afternoon. Just put it on the spoon and follow with a big glass of water, or sprinkle it on your food. Can cause sleeplessness if taken in evening. Can also take 1/2 teaspoon once a day. Adjust dosage depending on how it effects you.
Another thing that's helpful -- switch to an organic shampoo and conditioner. Especially conditioner! You'll notice a difference right away. My hair texture really changed; it became much more elastic! Some "organics" are really organic and some are not. If you email me, I'd be glad to tell you what I used. I'm 58 years old, have COPD and celiac disease. I have for the most part quit eating gluten foods, but every now and again I binge on them. I just did this. When I did, I noticed my hair falling out much heavier than normal. I stopped and the abnormal hair loss stopped.

As to the h2o2 drops taken internally helps rid of fungus and pathogens in the blood, as well as oxygenate teh blood, so this helps with hair loss.
However, I also believe tin deficiency is one of the causes, a tin supplement isn't easy to acquire either and the dose is quite low, such as 1 mg. The only way I see to get an amino acid chelated tin is to get a real tin can, or a tin metal and soak them in a soy sauce. A soy sauce is actually amino acids which will chelate them in very low amount and use them as a food flavoring added for soups. Tin deficiency is relatively low in Asian perhaps because of the use of tin in cups and cans, while tin is a deficiency since the switchover to the use of aluminum cans and plastic lined canned, which by they way are the source of estrogen, in the form of bisphenol A, which I believe is unhealthy for hair growth and weight loss also. Also Western culture use a lot of carpets, which is a mjaor source of fungus, that also leads to hair loss too.
I have found woman who take progesterone help with hair loss, but it becomes an addiction. If discontinued, hair loss gets worse. So in men, one other common cause is hormonal imbalance, which in some instances magnesium and boron (from borax) supplementation often helps normalizes this condition and helps with hair growth. Peroxide cleans the blood increase oxygen in the blood also. This can be proven through medical examination where blood's oxygen capacity does increase after taking peroxide drops. Hydrogen peroxide is amazingly stable and don't degrade easily in low dilution where water is also free from free heavy metals. If it is high, they tend to degrade quickly into numerous air bubbles which came from an old rusty faucet, or a old rusty water filter. Luckily today Iand unlucky at the same time), most water filter are now from plastics, but certain water filter again may generate bisphenol A if the wrong kinds of plastic were used. There's no way we can find out without proper analysis on that one and water filter companies don't even have to disclose whether some of the water filter are bisphenol free, or other contaminants from it's production. In any case, I think its still better then the metal filter ones.
