I live in wine country and they really push the olive oil here, but if you seriously want to lose weight, ditch the olive oil(yes, even the organic extra virgin olive oil) and switch to butter, butter works for burning fat. If you Google it, everyone will tell you the opposite, but the truth is that the oleic acid in olive oil is not compatible with your liver while the butyric acid in regular butter revs up your metabolism and starts the process of burning fat immediately. The olive oil actually clogs your liver, prevents you from burning fat, and actually increases insulin resistance. Why do you think you can cook with olive oil and pour it on salad for years and never keep any weight off? I was eating 3 salads per day at one point and actually GAINING weight. I was even measuring the olive oil in each salad and still could not lose weight. Everyone told me it was my age, it was menopause, it was carbs, blah blah blah.
