Coconut Oil

I'm in my twenties and like most women have had my share of yeast infections. I don't like to take medication anymore and a couple months ago I had a bad infection. In the past I have tried numerous methods like the yogurt tampon, ACV and this past time I first tried the garlic clove and that actually made things worse! I then read about how a few people had success with taking coconut oil for yeast infections. I've used coconut oil for various health reasons in the past but never took it consistently. I luckily had some on hand so before bed I immediately ingested 2 tablespoons mixed with OJ( tastes like candy!) The next morning, my yeast infection felt 50% better after just a couple spoonfuls of CO. I continued to take it for a few more nights and it knocked the infection right out. I couldn't believe it. I was so happy!! I would highly recommend ingesting coconut oil if you have a yeast infection. It really works and I've already told several women about this awesome remedy!

Coconut Oil

I have found a cure for my yeast infections! I have been reading earth clinic for years, and promised myself that I would never post until I found something that was worthy. I don't get yeast infections often, but when I do, it's horrendous. It quickly gets out of control, even when I abstain from all sugars, grains and anything else that would worsen the problem.

So for the last two days, I was in horrible pain, and I had this crazy idea that seemed like it would work. Take the two most powerful antifungals - Coconut oil and acidophilus, and keep them in your vagina somehow.

Here it is ladies :

1. Take a tampon (I know this sounds excruciating but wait)
2. Soak the tampon in coconut oil. Don't need to go nuts, but just enough to coat the tampon.
3. Take a tablespoon of coconut oil and put it into a cup.
4. Next, get a good probiotic( acidophilus) in capsule form and take three to four capsules, open them up and add them to the coconut oil.
5. Stir together to make a paste. Not too thick though.
6. Then coat the tampon with the paste and insert.
7. Scrape up the rest of the paste and coat the labia and just the very outside of your vagina, to relieve any discomfort.

Sit back, relax, and wait :)

I woke up this morning and my infection was gone! No more pain, AT ALL!!!!

I would suggest doing this for a few nights though, just to be extra sure it's gone.

Hope this helps!

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar for Bacterial Vaginosis and Yeast Infection

I have been suffering with some sort of vaginitis for the past 3 or 4 months. At first, I had itching and a fishy discharge and it seemed like Bacterial Vaginosis. I started taking P. Reuteri probiotic capsules and it seemed to go away but after sex it always came back. After that I tried taking folic acid. The smell went away but the itching was worse than ever and my vagina was red and irritated.I then tried golden seal suppositories at night while taking golden seal and garlic capsules orally. The itching and redness were worse than EVER. At this point, it was starting to look like I actually had a yeast infection, but I had no cottage cheese discharge. After reading the entries here on yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis I noticed that Apple Cider Vinegar was used to treat both, so I bought unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with the mother) and I folded 2 paper towels together to use them as a rag. I put warm water on them and poured about 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and put it on my vagina. I left it there for about 2 minutes but I noticed it wasn't burning or stinging so I thought it wasn't working. I added about 2 more tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and it still wasn't stinging, but I still kept the rag on for about 2 more minutes. It didn't help right away but about 5 minutes later, I'm sitting at my desk typing this up and I am finally ITCH FREE! The redness has also decreased. I am so happy to finally get rid of this! I'm also going to start taking the apple cider vinegar orally in a glass of water before bed. Just wanted to say that if your symptoms are ambiguous and you aren't really sure if you have a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis, it's a really good idea to try the apple cider vinegar, because people with both types of infections have seen results. You have nothing to lose !Good luck everyone! Don't give up!

Hydrogen Peroxide

i just tried a suggestion from this site, but I wanted to give measurements used because that is as important as the remedy. I 've been using acv and boiled water ( can't afford to buy water) to wipe the vaginal area. It helped at first, but the pain and itching returned. so I made a solution of 16oz. boiled water w/ 1 TBSP of hydrogen peroxide ( cvs brand ok for external wash) and THANK GOD IT WORKED!!! I always keep boiled water refridgerated. using really cold water for this really helps. When I did the acv I used 2TBS per 16 oz, of cold boiled water. hope this helps someone else suffering w/ vaginal problems, it's miserable.

I am a young woman about 22 years old. I tried Hydrogen Peroxide half water half peroxide in a little plastic cup for a yeast infection. I was suffering for about two days from this certain one, but I have been having yeast infections for what seems like every other month and I am a healthy woman I go to the doctor take care of my body and my healths #1. I was sick of having the discomfort of monistat and all the leakage and painful burning! So i tired the peroxide mix with water. I let my tampon soak up the water still in the applicator and then inserted into my vagina I did this at night of course I also ran some of the mixture down my vagina as i sat on the toliet. I put the tampoon in for a few hours took it out ran the water over it, then soaked another tampoon and inserted it, i got instant relief and in the morning it fel really good by the next night I believed it was clear I changed the tampoons twice a day kept one in for atleast 8 hrs each night it's great not painful or itchy love it! :)

Borax

Decades ago I was informed by a nurse that douching with a tbl. of the borax used for cleaning laundry(don't want to mention the BN) and 8 oz. of warm water twice daily for just a few days works. Well it really does. I've been using this remedy for many years now with no adverse reactions. If you do it gently, it should not cause problems, just wash out the vagina. Very simple and super cheap!

Make your own boric acid suppositories by filling size 00 gelatin capsules. insert one capsule in the vagina at bedtime for 2 weeks. To prevent a recurrent infection, boric acid can be used twice a week for 6mo. to 1 year. I am 37 yrs old and put up with chronic yeast infections for the past 10 yrs. I tried this treatment after every medication had failed. I have been yeast fee for almost a year! This really works, I told my gynecologist about this treatment and he is now letting this patients in on the cure! You can go to a website WebMD.com to read more about it.

Ozone Insufflations

Ozone Insufflations for Yeast infections/BV/Trichomoniasis

Ozone insufflation inserted vaginally at 42-65 gamma over 5-15 minutes works every single time I, or my patients have had either of these infections. This is entirely safe for all ages. I did every day when I was 8 months pregnant to enable me to have a vaginal birth at home (I swear all that oxygen to her developing brain is why my daughter is so smart:). Yin Care and ACV are great compliments to this treatment and help reduce symptoms until you get to a clinic that will administer ozone.

Start with a low dose/time and work your way up. You often only need one treatment to eliminate the infection. It is always good to balance pH and microbiome for long term defense.

Please be careful not to give yourself a UTI while using vaginally inserted probiotics. If you do acquire a UTI from this method, which I have done, be sure to use UT Vibrance crisis intervention to eliminate the urinary tract infection. This also works every time I or my family have ever had a UTI. UT vibrance, coupled with oral UT probiotics also cured my young niece of a kidney infection caused by a UTI.

Niacinamide

Ted you are a lifesaver!

Re your 2007 post from: https://ted.earthclinic.com/cures/yeast_infection.html

"One major vitamin I have narrowed down, is the niacinamide vitamin B3, usually taken at about 300 mg/day has usually resulted in 50% reduction in yeast infection on the first dose, and the resulting doses, on the third or fourth day nearly all the yeast infection goes away and never came back, provided of course the body has sufficient vitamin B3 maintenance dose without causing a deficiency. The reason why is that yeasts have a gene called SIR 2 mechanism whereby the niacinamide induces early death of the yeast cells and hence keep their growth in check and stays within normal biological parameters and ideal symbiosis. If I am looking for that one single bullet it has got to be that niacinamide B3."

I tried the niacinimide B3 supplement 500mg for a yeast infection that would not go away and was keeping me up at night. None of my normal remedies were helping... low sugar/carb diet, yogurt, probiotics, walnut oil/tea tree/oregano oil douche. I also took an iodine supplement and took the baking soda/lime/water mix to normalize Ph levels. I noticed a huge difference within 24 hours. I am going to incorporate the baking soda/lime drink plus one cup of green tea per day and take a multivitamin that has iodine and all the B vitamins you mentioned as a maintenance routine.

I thought I knew how to handle yeast infections after dealing with them for 20 years but you helped me so much. Thank you for sharing your knowledge in such an accessible and understandable way. I have learned so much from your website over the past 10 years!

I put a few drops of tea tree oil into a bowl lid and added coconut oil. Put in the freezer and let solidify. Broke solid pieces into chunks. Several times a day I took a chunk into the bathroom and inserted it. I wore a pad daily until the yeast inflection was gone, which took about 2 days after first starting this. Worked great. I now have the rest of the broken chunks in the freezer in a bowl handy if I need them again.

I always get a vaginal infection when I am taking antibiotics. A simple cure is to put a capful of Hydrogen Peroxide 3% in your mouth daily and swish it around for 10 minutes. Spit it out. I have no problems when I do this. Olive Leaf Extract supplements are marvelous for combatting yeast infections. Pau d Arco is another powerful anti-yeast supplement. I take one of each three times a day for as long as is needed.

Hydrogen Peroxide, Saline Douche

Ladies, Ladies Ladies! This is the BEST way to be comfortable again - and it's affordable! My story goes back to when I was 15 and was prescribed antibiotics for Acne. By age 16 and 17 I was a crotch mess and virgin and until I read in a woman's magazine I never knew that antibiotic use could cause vaginal infections - I thought it was "puberty" and plenty irritating and itchy. I wanted to punch that doctor in the nose that never told me about possible side-effects.

Of course, when asked I got some drippy cream, an expensive prescription and some relief! I struggled with vag infections EVERY TIME I took antibiotics after that -just asked for the vag cream to go with it whenever I had sinus, or strep. I heard about peroxide on a religious talk show and GOD BLESS THAT LADY!

My HACK:

The DrNeilMed Sinus rinse bottles to use in the shower!!! $10 Lasts years. Not advertising - just sayin' it works and squirts!

They come with 50 tiny packets of salt. I used it for repeated sinus infections - and with a capful of hydrogen peroxide (all peroxide caps the same size) to about 12? oz warm water - my sinus infections went away and have never had to take an antibiotic in over 10 years!

I got to thinking...and tried the same mixture as a vaginal rinse -using the same bottle in the shower! VOILA'!

So SIMPLE So CHEAP! Keeps everything in balance! Makes me want to punch the doctors in the nose who prescribe expensive yucky creams and suppositories which I struggled to pay for sometimes. (they weren't OTC then). I never used more than a capful-or 2. I am past menopause now -and the vag infections still come and go-but I have INSTANT RELIEF!

After 40 years of dealing with this...I am glad to know but disgusted no one in medicine told me. Oh and in a pinch for a quick tune-up -you can do it on the toilet and be fresh and itch-free anytime.

Another embarrassing item...I have hypothesized and tried it...if you make your man brush his teeth extra good...it happens less. I believe it is associated with oral contact - ALWAYS happened with my first husband...but NOT with my second...they can harbor bacteria in their MOUTH that causes infections. Someone shared something embarrassing for me to be comfortable...so I must share what I have found to be true. I couldn't sit still for itching most of my life. ~sigh~

Coconut Oil, Tea Tree Oil

Yikes! This is my first (or maybe second) time dealing with a yeast infection, although I think I've had some degree of candida issues throughout my life looking at my other health issues (eczema flare-ups, acne, Hashimoto's disease, autoimmune disease etc). Lately, I've been feeling foggy, tired, depressed, and have serious stomach bloat and am having difficulty loosing weight.

Yeast is very difficult to treat so I think it's important to use several remedies unless one particular one works for you. Luckily, my yeast infection isn't as bad as others report (my symptoms: cottage cheese like discharge, watery discharge, lower back pain and abdominal fullness/pain, some itching although it isn't terrible). Here's what worked, and didn't work, for me:

First, I tried using oral probiotics for 2 weeks, and although it seemed to help it didn't clear the yeast completely.

Next, I used a yogurt douche, and while that helped temporarily or about 24 hours I actually feel it made my yeast come back with a vengeance.

Next, I tried the ACV remedy, taking 1 tbsp 2-3x day orally in water, as well as soaking a tampon in a diluted ACV mixture and wearing for 15 minutes for a period of 3-4 days. That did help, and I did notice some lessening of yeast, but didn't clear the yeast completely.

Next, I tried storebought vaginal probiotic suppositories which, like the yogurt douche, seemed to help initially but then made the condition worse within a day or two. I think it's safe to say that adding other probiotics in the vaginal tract doesn't work, at least for me!

Desperate, I found some coconut oil in my cupboard and then realized I also have some tea tree/lavender essential oil from. The caprylic acid in coconut oil is reputed to kill yeast, and I have had great success using coconut oil for many things, including coconut oil suppositories for hemorrhoids, so I thought, why not? I used the blister pack that my vaginal suppositories came in for the mold (you can use any blister pack for pills that have a round, pill-like shape), put my coconut oil jar in a bowl of hot water to melt the oil into liquid, poured the liquid into the mold and added 4-5 drops of tea tree/lavender oil into the mold (any more will burn! ), popped the mold into the fridge and then waited for it to solidify (15 mins or so), then quickly took out the suppository and inserted vaginally right before bed (might be good to do while lying down IN bed because this melts quickly from your body heat and will drip out if you stand up! ) Just note that in the morning, this will come out and it can get messy, so wear pantyliners or pads to protect your clothing.

The first night ... INSTANT RELIEF! The coconut oil/tea tree combo is so cooling and soothing... the tea tree oil makes you feel fresh. The first day, I did not experience itching at all, and there was a large reduction of discharge. This is my third day doing it and my vaginal symptoms are almost completely gone, I will continue for a week until I am *sure* I am completely asymptomatic!

I still feel a bit foggy, bloated and tired (I assume I have candida overgrowth everywhere, not just vaginally) so I am drinking ACV 2-3x day, taking 1 tsp coconut oil 2-3x day, and also using Yeast Cleanse tablets from a popular brand. I am also drinking thyme tea as it is a strong antifungal (I make my own by putting a few strands of dried thyme in water, bringing water to a boil, covering it - this is important to save volatile oils - for about 5-10 minutes and drinking). I will also be cutting out as much sweets/bread and dairy as possible. Good luck and I hope this helps someone as much as it helped me :)

The borax works and it does require keeping up with the capsule suppositories several times a day for a week - yes, it does make the discharge watery.

In my late 20's and early 30's, I had chronic yeast infections. My OBGYN suggested that I use I cup of 20 Mule Team Borax in my bath water and soak in the tub. It worked. That was 30 years ago.

I had the worst yeast infection, I ran out of ACV. I ran into the laundry room and I had a box of Mule Borax detergent and I put a 1/2 cup in a tub of water and soaked in the tub for 20 minutes all the itching was gone what a huge relief. I know that Ted has mentioned Borax many times for candida.
