Fungus

I had read somewhere that fungus could not grow in the presence of cinnamon oil (found in any aromatherapy store), so instead of going to the doctor for an expensive and harmful prescription I decided to try it. I applied it to the cuticle of my nail morning and night and the nail grew out perfectly healthy. My mom had the same problem and when she saw my results she decided to try it too and got the same results.

I also know that a sliced apple eaten, as well as green tea with a stick of cinnamon to brew and a dash of black pepper lowers blood sugar. It worked with my elderly mother and some of her friends. Also fenugreek, available in Pharmacies, eg. CVS, works well.

Clogged Drains

Cinnamon for smelly drains! I discovered I had a sulfur-smelling kitchen sink drain when I moved into a new apartment -- it was a strong smell that would spread through the house! Tried repeated treatments of pouring baking soda into the drain, then washing it down with vinegar, then rinsing with hot water 30 minutes later. It helped some, but not enough. By accident, I discovered that true cinnamon powder would fix the problem. I had spilled about a half cup of cinnamon into that sink and simply rinsed it down the drain with enough water to avoid clogging the drain. The drain smelled fresh the next day and every day after. Cinnamon acts as a natural antibiotic. It saved me from having to bring in a plumber.

Hello, I am new to this site; am really enjoying and learning alot! I have a question for anyone that takes cinnamon supplements. Are there any recommendations of which brand? I know it helps reduce inflammation and would like to take it daily.

Hello Rocky. I currently take cinnamon myself & have been quite a while now. You should look preferably for an organic cinnamon product. There are many to choose from but make sure you do get organic. Google cinnamon research & its many health benefits.

I have also gotten my mother on it for her diabetes which this substance is known for helping treat. I take 1/2 tsp twice daily with a little water or olive oil. You can take it with or without food but I take it right after meals. Good luck & God Bless!

Hypoglycemia

WARNING!

Hey ya'll, I've been battling hypoglycemia lately and I've found some great stuff here on EC. So thanks to everyone for posting and special thanks to Ted for all of his input.

I did want to point out, however, that if you are dealing with hypoglycemia, be careful of taking too much cinammon. Most of the blood sugar supplements out there are for diabetics and the emphasis is on lowering blood sugar.

I read on one post that cinammon will "stabilize" blood sugar and it will, if you are diabetic. On the other hand, if you are hypoglycemic, cinammon could potentially drive your blood sugar too low. I guess "stabilize" means "lower" to a diabetic, I should have caught that.

So just be careful with cinammon and hypoglycemia. I experienced this myself when I tried taking 500 mg, twice per day. I took one tablet at night and one in the morning and by mid morning, my sugar plummeted. The cinammon was the only thing I changed in my daily routine. Before this, I had been getting progressively better and sugar swings were becoming less and less frequent.

Cheers, JRo

Using Cinnamon to reduce Glucose Levels.

I have read much research on the internet that shows 3-6 grams per day of Cinnamon included in the daily diet will reduce Glucose levels. It consistently states that regular, daily intake of cinnamon improves glucose control and cholesterol levels in people with type 2 diabetes. 3-6 grams of Cinnamon would be approximately the tip of a teaspoon.

I also saw that other factors can also raise or lower your Blood Glucose levels.

FOOD: Bread, pasta, rice, pastry, and some types of fruits and vegetables can all contribute to a rise in blood sugar. Research this on the internet to see what works for best you.

EXERCISE: Even the smallest amount of daily exercise can help to lower blood glucose levels. I suggest that you work a little exercise into your daily schedule - walk more, park your car a little further away from the store, use the stairs instead of the elevator.

SUNLIGHT: Low levels of vitamin D in the body have been linked to insulin insensitivity and lowered glucose tolerance. Sitting in full sunlight for 20 to 30 minutes, at least three times a week, can help maintain calcium levels and help lower blood glucose levels.

Hopefully one or two of these will appeal to you and you will use them.

Sinus Issues

I have a question instead of a remedy? I had nasal septoplasty and turbinate reduction in Oct. 2008. Still having some trouble with congestion and doctor says I have GERD now. Which is a type of reflux. I have been on Previcid for 2 months and even though I do not feel I have reflux he says I need to take pills two times a day instead of one. How does honey and cinnamon work with breathing issues? I always thought honey worked against asthma. I do not have asthma but how would honey and cinnamon affect this? Thanks

Essential Oil Inhalation cure for Bronchitis, Sinus Infections, Pneumonia

I regularly get sinus infections due to a deformity in one of my sinuses. Until a few years ago when I found this cure I had regular bronchitis and lastly in 2005 I had serious pneumonia. I opted out of health insurance years ago so I had to take responsibility for my own health.
I got onto one of those $39.95 sites with the magical cure but this one WORKED! So here it is for all of you.

The following essential oils are 89% antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal. Cinnamon, Clove and Oregano. First, get the best quality you can.

These oils work magic together BUT, you can use just one or a combo of two if that is all you can get. Put 2-3 drops of each oil in a steamer or a steaming pan of water. BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET THE OILS ON YOUR SKIN...They burn. Cinnamon and Clove burn. (Cinnamon Oil is the main ingredient of all those lip plumpers :-) Now, inhale the steam with your eyes closed and take it in as deeply as you possibly can, breathing through the nose and the mouth alternately. When I did this with my pneumonia, I felt a kind of crack in my lungs after three or four breaths and everything started to come loose. I coughed up all the guck and was completely well in 5 days. I was so sick that I had bruised my ribs from the coughing and I was very, very weak. Now at the first sign of anything respiratory, I do this. I have never had a reoccurence of bronchitis or pneumonia and very seldom get any sinus trouble anymore. How happy I am that we can all share these wonderful old rememdies with each other! Thanks to this site and all of you.
