Anyone had success with ACV that was unfiltered/organic but without "the mother"?

ACV Vs. Other Types of Vinegar
Posted by Gumby (Haiphong, Vietnam) on 06/14/2010

Are the curative powers of Apple Cider Vinegar also found in other kinds of vinegar? In the country where I live, they don't sell ACV but there's plenty of rice vinegar and I've even seen banana vinegar.

How much of the ACV benefits are due to the acetic acid which is present in other kinds of vinegar too? Are other kinds of vinegar also beneficial, even if ACV is better? Can one substitute other vinegars for ACV with good results? Thanks.

Liquid Vs. Pills

Thanks Carly for your information. I will try it that way. Maybe it will make it a bit easier to swallow:)

Liquid Vs. Pills

Hi Derbychick77

The way I make the ACV taste good is to put 2 TABLEspoons of it (maybe a bit more some days) in a 16 ounce glass. Then I add 1/2 TEAspoon of baking soda.

When it is done fizzing, (and not before)add water and then just a splash of orange juice. The baking soda cuts the sharp twang of the ACV, and is good for you. (Read teds alkalinizing formula posts).

The oj makes it surprisingly smooth. It actually tastes good!

Pills do not work - in my opinion.

Best,
Carly :)

Liquid Vs. Pills

I have been trying to take the ACV daily but I am still having trouble with the taste. I just about gags me every time I use it. I am wondering about switching to the ACV pills. What dosage should I start with? What brand to use? Any feedbacks, either good or bad, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Apple Cider Vinegar Tips

Is there a way to "nuetralize" the smell of ACV? It is very strong and is not so pleasant to smell. Like an oil or something that would make it be less strong? I use the organic ACV with "mother". Thanx I appreciate any comments. I tried to add olive oil to it but i think it made the smell stronger if i remember correctly.

My husband and I have tried.... it didn't help us! His dandruff is not going well and I didn't notice a difference with the hair problems I have.

I've been using ACV as a hair rinse for decades. We keep a bottle of it in the shower with a plastic cup. After washing my hair, I dump about 1/2 cup ACV in the cup, fill with water, and then rinse my hair with it. I do not rinse again with plain water. The vinegar smell goes away when your hair dries and no, it does not change the color of your hair. I got my husband to try it years ago and he hasn't needed to use dandruff shampoo since - yay!

IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Have been having severe IBS-D symptoms for the past week and on and off for months--nothing has helped, except sometimes peppermint. Finally decided to give apple cider vinegar a try, since it's so highly thought of. Stirred a tablespoon into a glass of water with a little cinnamon and ground ginger, plus the tiniest drop of honey. Not only was it delicious, but my stomach feels great for the first time today. I hope the good results stay consistent!

Recently i used indoor tanning cream (for a tanning bed) with tingle on my legs and arms. I got home and showered and was so itchy and blotchy i called in sick to work. I applied ACV with a cotton pad twice directly to my legs and arms and within about 8 minutes the pain and redness was completely gone!!

Apple Cider Vinegar and Probiotics
Posted by Lisa (Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa) on 05/15/2010

Hi Pat,

Actually, acv is a prebiotic which is what probiotics feed off of. These two work well together. Still, personally I would give a space of time between the two. I find that my body handles things better if I keep it simple. In the early morning I usually take a glass of water with either fresh lemon, acv or baking soda added to it. Awhile later, I have my young coconut kefir which is loaded with enzymes and probiotics. Then after that I have a green smoothie which takes me to lunch.

Anyway, they definitely do not cancel each other out but rather work synergistically. Peace, Lisa

Apple Cider Vinegar and Probiotics
Posted by Pat (Athens, Al, Usa) on 05/15/2010

Can ACV and probiotics be taken together or would the ACV override the probiotics? Or can I take both as long as there is a space of time between the two? Currently I'm doing both with no ill effects I'm just wondering if one is canceling out the other or if they both are "doing their own thing" in harmony??? Thanx in advance for any input.

Dental Enamel Issues

If I mix cider vinegar with water and drink small amounts during the day, wouldn't that slowly remove my tooth enamel after a few years?

I believe it lessoned an episode of slight food poisoning as my symptoms seemed far weaker than others poisoned.(drank after meal)

Apple Cider Vinegar as Panacea
Posted by Zachary (Norwich, Ct) on 05/06/2010

Hello,

I am a big fan of the site and consult it regularly for a variety of issues and have had success! For that, Thank you.

I am concerned about the recommendation of Apple Cider Vinegar for almost ever ailment in question. I did have success in treating myself with ACV but the frequency with which is appears as a remedy makes me wonder if the site is sponsored by _____ or something! haha. Just curious because I am considering using ACV in my hair and a daily routine but I am uncertain as to the objectivity of the site.

EC: Hi Zachary,

During Earth Clinic's first few years, we allowed brand names to be published on the site, not realizing the extent of fake product posts on the internet. Most of the feedback back then was about apple cider vinegar. Then we received an email much like yours in 2004 (or thereabouts), asking us if we were a front for the Bragg's company! It was a most excellent wake-up call and I am forever grateful for it. Shortly thereafter, all but a few product names were banned from the site. Bragg was the first brand name to be deleted from the site. Tis true, there are now thousands upon thousands of Apple Cider Vinegar posts on the site. However, most ACV posts arrive from different ip addresses from around the world, which is why we think most (hopefully all) are legitimate posts.

acv worked well at getting rid of my prostate infection. it also helped for my gout and constipation. i'm using 2tsp acv to 8oz. of carrot juice, also added 2tsp of wheat grass.

question: will the acv destroy the benefits of carrot juice and wheat grass? thanks for a response.

ACV Chasers
Posted by Francisca (Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France) on 04/22/2010

I believe that we often crave things that our body needs. When my oldest daughter was small she kept eating lemons, a while ago I was craving sourkrout the whole time, a friend of mine recently had a huge crave for avocados and avocado oil. We also keep away from stuff our body doesn't need or want and that is one of the reasons one should be careful when one finds a child should eat some food they really don't want to. I have no problem drinking diluted ACV at all but I wouldn't drink it undiluted because I am afraid it would damage my teeth. I always flush my teeth with water afterwards. If I were you I wouldn't drink too much, like anything too much of a good thing can be bad for you. With the sourkrout I know where to stop because I get diarrhea if I eat too much. Your body gives you a lot of signs.... Another thing which doesn't bother me is drinking diluted cayenne pepper, most people hate it. I suppose that we are all different........

ACV Chasers

I love vinegar. I bought ACV after reading this site and I drink it straight. I could drink it all day long. After reading so much about how people really don't like the taste of it I wonder why I do? Should I be carefull about how much I drink? Does my love of vinegar point to a some biological warning sign?

Storing Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Ben (Baltimore, Md, Usa) on 04/19/2010

Regarding dioxins in plastics and freezing or heating them, do a google for "dioxins in plastic hoax" for hundreds of web sites on the topic. Apparently, it is not something to be concerned about.

Storing Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Debbie (Okanogan, Wa) on 04/14/2010

Hey Brenda, I just read your post, I don't know if you're freezing plastic water bottles, if so, don't, by freezing the plastic bottles, it causes the bottle to release dioxine, I believe that's what its called, which causes cancer. Don't freeze plastic bottles, use glass. I use old peanut butter jars. Bye for now, debbie
