Thanks for the info, I just started taking it, for two days now, for an bacterial infection. I felt really bad last at first, but then I started feeling a lot better than I hadfor a long time, today I had more energy too. I'm going to do the same thing, take it for a year and hope it gets rid of this infection. I bought a large box online, it's not expensive. I'll post more about my progress.

I had back aches all the time with these 2 cyst in my lower back, back pain is gone and the cyst is way smaller, started on Diatomaceous Earth to see if it would help and so far I see that it is making my real thick and ugly toenails shrink back to normal. You need to get off white sugar and white flour they are fulled with pesticides only eat sugar cane sugar which is found mostly in organic foods. 80% of the food in the grocery store is poison to our body, but look for the Non gmo list on the internet and start getting your health back.

I am also a user of DE, and any other item I can use instead of going to the Dr for every little thing. Had some pretty miraculous things happen. AND, had some scary thing happen. Went for a long time working on a painful lower back, right side. Finally caved and had a Colonoscopy. Now the scary, I now have about 1/3 less larger colon on the right side. ALL my pain was in the lower right back. Cancer stage was 3a. What I want you to know is that your symptoms are identical. My suggestion, get a colonsocopy to make certain your good to go before you continue with anything else. With all the GMO in american food, no matter how well we why try, we are not immune to cancer. Now I am on my way to recovery, doing well. AND right back to my good old natural remedies. Have a good life! Yehsams

DE Tips

Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is one of the richest sources of silica around, at ~80%. In comparison, Horsetail has ~4% (often touted as the highest source), and bamboo stalk has ~28%.

Silica is important for bones, hair, teeth, nails, ligaments and especially the skin. Silica is best absorbed with acid (stomach acid works quite nicely) as silicon dioxide must first convert to orthosilicic acid before it can be utilised by the body. Silica will convert to orthosilicic acid when in contact with water.

If you are making your own toothpaste, face cream, toner, nail treatment or moisturiser you should consider adding a small amount of DE as it will be very beneficial and is absorbed by your skin.

To supplement your daily intake of silica, here is a method on adding DE to water that I got from - http://www.mountainmistbotanicals.com/info/Silica_Diatomaceous Earth vs Horsetail Grass.htm (I am not afilliated with this site whatsoever, but this article is a really, really good read. If you are interested in Silica, DE or Horsetail I strongly recommend it.)

"...add a spoon full of food grade DE to a gallon of water and allow the DE to settle to the bottom. This may take a few days initially. Pour the water you intend to drink from the top of the container, but be careful not to disturb the DE on the bottom of the container. Refill the container with water and allow it to settle out again. Keep repeating this process. A spoon full of DE should last several years if it is not poured off in the water."

This method of adding DE will work especially well if you have a water urn/dispenser that has a spigot (tap) slight above the bottom - you can put a touch of DE in the bottom and it should supplement your water without any problems.

Warnings:
- Diatomaceous Earth must be food grade if you are considering using it for yourself, as many other posts have mentioned.

- DE contains ~2-4% aluminium oxide, so if you are avoiding all aluminium then do not consume this as a supplement. It should be known that orthosilicic acid reduced aluminium uptake in digestion as well as increasing the excretion of aluminium through urine. The DE water method above uses a very small amount of silica over a long period that it will minimize your ingestion of aluminium.

- Vegans/vegetarians generally should find DE acceptable, as it consists of phytoplankton (algae) but it is important to be aware of this just in case.

Yes the stuff for pools is hazardous. But the Food Grade DE is 100% safe! It is put in grain to keep bugs out. It is fed to livestock and it is 100% safe flea powder for pets.

DE and Amalgams
Posted by Baise (New York) on 02/10/2021

Can I use DE while having 6 amalgam fillings?

I know some people have commented on this but I realize that it's just people's opinions based on what they think is right. I've read every single post on DE on this site, but I haven't come across anyone who explicitly said they have amalgam fillings, they have used DE and have improved their health. So if there's anyone out there who has these toxic fillings and has also successfully used DE please can you respond to this post?

Please no posts telling me I need to get rid of these fillings. I know that better than anyone else and there's nothing more I want to do, but it's not cheap, especially since I need to go to someone who specializes in the removal of them and I can't afford it right now, but hopefully I will in a couple of years. I can't find anything on the internet on this topic and would appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

Hi, I know you wrote this in 2021 but since it looks like no one else answered I decided to. I also have fillings from when I was a kid. I swear I never needed them. There was a lot of malpractice back in the day. Was told I needed the fillings and glasses as was told to almost every kid in my neighborhood and our parents trusted the doctors and never asked questions.

I was scouring around for information and found a few on the reviews on Amazon and blogs. One woman said that she uses it with 4 mercury fillings and she uses it as normal. Drinks it every day. Then I read one that said because they have fillings they use a straw to drink it.

I've done it both ways. Started just drinking it as quickly as possible in about 6 ounces of water. Now I use a straw. I'm still not at 1 tablespoon though. I'm going slowly. Just got to 1 1/2 teaspoons.

I wasn't drinking enough water throughout the day and was very dehydrated and had constipation as well. My large cup of coffee daily also contributed.

Used liquid IV a few times and slowly sipped on water throughout the day and it's gotten better. Also started on blackstrap molasses recently and that cured the constipation immediately lol. I'm anemic and am taking the BM and just ordered desiccated liver to help that.

Have you been on the DE since you posted your question? Is it going well?

HI U Timh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the whole world is saying that you must have food grade DE. We buy DE from the co-op in 50 # bags that is destined for livestock. It says food grade on the bag. DE is mined directly and I think without any other processing. So what is the process to get mined DE into this so-called food grade condition?

We also buy our MSM from the farm co-op that is 100% pure. It was made for horses, but it's hard to get bettern 100% pure. Bentonite clay is mined. How do you get food grade clay? It just is or it is not. You can't make it so.

In freshman chemistry we had to make the compound, salt peter. I spread some on a few cookies. All know how this compound affects men. I was SJS because my roommate came in that night and naturally ate my cookies. He got sick as a dog. That taught me a lesson especially the next day when he put a knife to my neck and told me to never do that again. My lab made compound was definitely not food grade. Tex was about 6' 4'' and brought that to my attention.

Parasites
Posted by Ali (Wales) on 09/23/2018

Yes, I believe DE works by strengthening the body and making it inhospitable to parasites. But it is a gradual process. It may well aggravate them at first. But DE is also a detoxer so it may even be shifting stuff in the lungs. It may not be hatch-out at all.

I would love to know how you got on and whether the DE helped.

Those side effects are fairly normal to have when detoxing with DE. Drink lots of water and perhaps take 2-3 days off to give your body a chance to clear out all the toxins and dead pathogens.

Tips on Using DE
Posted by Myway (Wilmington, De) on 12/20/2014
★★★★★

I have been using food grade diatomaceous earth (DE) for quite some time for both myself (supplementation and bug killer) and cats (fleas) but wanted to give everyone a tip on it's use that may make application easier and inexpensive. Purchase a plastic mustard or ketchup bottle from the dollar store (here in US). These bottles are either yellow or red...anyway, they have the small hole at the top. Fill the bottle about 1/4th way with DE.

For Flea Prevention: start at the head of the cat or dog and go to the tail with a line of the DE from the bottle. Rub it in. Do this once a week during flea season. Once a month during off season. DE is not a cure-all in my opinion, it is part of the prevention. Again, you don't want you or your pet breathing this stuff in so, the environment for application should be very calm. Wrestling a cat and trying to apply this stuff would kick up the dust. It is non-toxic but you don't want it in you or your pets lungs. If your cat is a mixed martial arts specialist, try something else. I also use an old rouge brush - dab it on the back of the neck of one cat who comes by occasionally.

For Ants: Try to locate the entry point of your ant infestation and squirt a small amount of DE in the corners of the house where they are coming in. The ants or bugs will die with contact of this stuff. I had ants coming into certain parts of the house...I watched them and figured out where they were coming from. Problem solved. No need for pesticides. Remember, if you apply DE to the outside of the outside, it will have to be reapplied if there is moisture (rain) or very high humidity. It will wash away.

By the way, I am asthmatic - DE has not bothered me at all when used in this manner. If I had carpets, a respiratory compromised person or small children, I personally would not put it on the floors. This is just my opinion.

Good Luck!

... "Estimates are that 60% to 70% of us with FMS have symptoms very similar to costochondritis. No one is exactly sure whether it is true costochondritis or why it occurs with FMS, especially since FMS doesn't cause inflammation."

----------------------------

Notice the contradiction in FMS definition says FMS does not cause inflammation while costochondritis which most people with fms is ignored. Costochodritis inflammation was the most painful part of the fms condition. The sleep disorder is caused by the physical pain.

Tiredness or difficulty exercising is not distinguishing. Stiff muscles - what does that mean. People can get stiff muscles by just being inactive.

They have fms - "classified as mild cognitive disorders". many fms labeled people would not agree with the word "mild".

One person talking about fms may be world's apart from someone else who has fms. I think the fms label needs to be broken down further. I think infections (inflammation) vs non-infection groups may need to be separated especially symptom wise along with cognitive aspect.

my integrative doctor suggested it. I suffer from food allergies that keep my body from absorbing nutrients and my hormones are being thrown out of balance. I have acne, which is my main consern right now. Also my hair sheds more than usual. Mood swings. Delayed periods. migraines.

So ive had my acne and other symptoms somewhat under control for about 5 months. I started breaking out and having the mood swings again before I started the DE. Well my break outs are getting worse and I feel terrible right now. More migraines. When will I start seing clearer skin? im out of town and trying to enjoy myself but I feel miserable and gross. My head hurts. I just dont feel right. I do get migraines from the weather changes and it is spring and thats the worst time for me with the migrianes. But if anyone can give me some advice or encouraging words that wud be great!!! Im so tired of this acne problem. I had it under control for a while and was looking forward to summer and enjoying my nice skin, but now im just sad and dont wana do anything...

Fuji water has silica, so do bananas. Do a temporary stop on DE until you've used the water and had one or two bananas a day for a couple of weeks. For you, DE may have been a shock to your system. If you resume, start slow, very slow. 1/4 tsp for a while. If things get worse, stop. Increase by 1/4 tsp at monthly intervals. Don't know if this will work as everybody is different. Some people never get past 1 tbsp and do just fine. BTW, what's in your tap water? Not all tap water is the same. Reverse osmosis or distilled may be a solution, too. Good luck.

I would not use this to dust my sheets, carpet etc. Breathing the dust is harmful. Do your own research folks!!! Don't just blindly follow a review. Use wisdom!! If used responsibly, DE is an amazing product!

Mixing and Store DE
Posted by Carol (Ohio) on 11/11/2021

This link tells you everything you need to know about DE.

https://draxe.com/nutrition/diatomaceous-earth/

DE does not degrade from sitting or even when wet because (DE) is a natural product made up of fossilized remains of tiny, aquatic organisms called diatoms. Composed of the cell walls/shells of single cell diatoms, it easily crumbles to a fine powder.

In fact, the composition of the diatom cell walls are biogenic silica.

The substances used to make diatomaceous earth are safe and taken directly from the sea, since diatom silica deposits accumulate over time in the sediment of rivers, streams, lakes and oceans.

It usually comes in the form of a white powder and is also used in water filtering, food manufacturing, skin products and farming to naturally eliminate free radicals, viruses, insects, parasites and other harmful organisms by binding to them and drying them out.

S: This is a good example of "too much of a good thing". It is not wise to consider D.E. an end all for detoxification as there are many types of detoxification.

Anyway, you have gone beyond the daily limit of D.E. and so need to switch to other detox protocols. What exactly are you detoxing from, or just general detox???

For removing heavy metals, and environmental pollutants consider Detox Foot Spa and/or Detox Foot Pads. Steam Room Sweating or Saunas are good detox methods, as well as Mineral Baths. along with any of the above, there are herbs that hasten the removal of toxins in the body; one in particular is Dr Christopher's "Red Clover Combination", and maybe rotate with "Seaweed Complex".

You can easily replace the D.E. with Bentonite Clay as a gentle and effective chelator. Activated Charcoal is also used to remove toxins in the gut.

Accidental Diatomaceous Earth Inhalation

Sandee: I suppose you will use something like "Vicks" mentholyptus in the vaporizer and if so the same principle applies --start low and go slow; gradually increase the mentholyptus or eucalyptus. I forgot to mention these herbs but they are helpful. Back in the day, the steamrooms at the fitness centers I attended had the Eucalyptus available or allowable to mix w/ the steam and oh my what a cleansing & invigorating experience. Unfortunately nowadays most places have too many complainers of the "bad odor" and so goes the Eucalyptus. The advantage of the steamroom experience would be rapid cleansing as well as removal as per the sweating.

The only bad side effects I can imagine in your case would maybe be some heart pain or digestive discomfort as the lungs are clearing the toxins back into the bloodstream. Headache or dizziness would indicate a good deal of bad stuff, so it all comes down to what kinda levels of free radicals you have in your lungs. The marshmallow and Slippery Elm will help lubricate & protect the Kidneys as well as lungs so that would greatly reduce the stress loads on the Kidneys, although if there is any sign of infection some Cranberry will take care of it.

Am very glad to help and only hope to hear some good news from you soon.

Hello, I'm sorry to hear you're out there feeling so low. I hear you ....but I have raised a - many children....and I am going to let you in on a little secret and that is: quit the junk food ... deny it all you want ..pop sugar french fries - or at least cut down to very little junk food ...it going to kill you internal and external ...

if you quit the bad the DE can start to do its job.....With DE you will go through a detox part of it ..cleaning out your system ... so it will get worse before it gets better ...and don't tell me you're not eating junk ..hahah your in that age group ...just be honest with yourself ....okay there is another factor if your on certain medication or any sort of liver malfunction can attribute to the acne ...so if the last two are not the issue... it would than have to do with junk food or..milk has been noted as a cause of acne to especial if you have ADHA too...

also what are you cleaning your face with ....wash your hands faithfully and don't touch your face as it will irritate the acne ..well unless your cleaning it out and use an astringent to close the pours ..and don't mix chemicals like acne pads and astringents that would hurt you bad ...do you use a steroid for medication on your face ....it really is simplistic

If it's not caused by a medical issue.

All the best sweety and don't give up

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Hi Paul,

I was working in a pharmacy when I found out about how abundant pinworms were. I had never heard of them before. After reading about them, I was certain I had come in to contact with them due to all the time I'd spent near infested patients. I took one dose of pinx to ease my mind. Four days later I had severe diahrrea and got a "cold." I thought this was because I was traveling. Two weeks later, when I was in bed, I was certain I felt a pinch and spotted a worm on my toilet paper. I took the second dose of pinx and three days later started DE, 1 tablespoon in the morning. After a few days I got extremely exhausted. Then a day later I got a headache. The next day I started feeling sick again. It's been 8 days and for the past three I have had a sore throat and extreme congestion (worse than ever). I will wake up vomitting phlegm. I'm aware of the herx reaction. But what worries me is that I've felt sore of detached and out of it the past week as well. It seems as though my vision is a little blurry but I'm not sure if this is because I'm having a hard time concentrating. It doesn't seem like this would be part of the detox reaction and that it may be a toxicity to the DE, or worse the worms have travelled north (big symptoms of brain prasites). I was wondering if you had any of those symptoms? And how long your "detox" symptoms lasted. I want to clean my body but obviously do no harm in the process.

As everyone has suggested make sure you use food grade d.e. but also make sure that it is in a powdered granulation... Not fine! And most importantly she was told not to put it right on top of the matress but rather to put it in the cracks and crevices, in the boxspring, on the headboard, etc. Where the bed bugs will hide!

BSM, raw or cooked Liver, Brewers Yeast, and Bee Pollen are the superfood exception to the rule of mineral depletion. Ionic Trace Minerals from Utah's Great Salt Lake is a superior source of major & trace minerals.

Just once and it solved the issue. I read somewhere that Dr. Hulda Clarke recommends a citric acid rinse to keep the eyes free of the borax. I put like 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon to a quart of water, rinsed my hair and body, and voila, no more issue.

IT IS NOT TALC - IT WILL CRUSH YOUR LUNGS!

I am all for DE, zeolite and bentonite but, for the first two - DO NOT INHALE! It doesn't come back out, and it is alien to your lungs.

I treat mine at arms-length until I can get it into water and, even then, it's fine enough to launch a dust cloud off of the water. Same with zeolite.

Get them into water, avoid that dust, then do as you might.

I've just started taking DE and I read up extensively on how much to take and what to take with it.

First and foremost. Water. Lots of water. That is probably more of a given. The other two things I take with my DE are a multivitamin and a pro-biotic. Since DE is removing things from your gut, you want to regulate it with a pro-biotic. I've also heard to take Omega 3 with it, but I haven't purchased any to start with it.

Hope that helps some.

I had read somewhere that you need to remove mercury fillings before detoxing. The reason they stated was that the mercury was being taken from your teeth and distributed it into different parts of you body. This could be dangerous cuz it can be redistributed to sensitive areas in your brain and can cause more problems.

Hi Timh ...I used diatamaceous earth (food grade) to get rid of carpenter bees. I used a pest pistol to get it into the openings. The dust did fly everywhere and I was not wearing a mask. Fast fwd several months later and a chest CT scan shows nodules (benign in nature...possibly from old pneumonia which I never had or breathing in some solvent) and slight swelling of lymph nodes. I feel it is safe to assume this was caused by my inhaling the diatomaceous earth as I have an autoimmune condition which keeps my immune system at a less than optimal level. I am going to try your suggestions and have a few questions if you don't mind. I have a nebulizer and will begin treatments with purified water...how often do you recommend. Of these 3 Marshmallow Root, Slippery Elm, and Mullein...which do you think would be best for my situation?

Accidental Diatomaceous Earth Inhalation

I was told when using DE for carpets/house to "wear a mask" due to the dust when applying. This makes good sense. I don't know about effects on Asthma victims, but would be cautious and be out of the house while someone else does the job. It settles really fast. You might want to dust excess off furniture if ppl are going to be running, raising the dust to inflict into lungs. (?) I would suspect that it is not that harmful. Read the bag! Follow directions. Asthma can be from many things, but mostly from a poorly functioning immune system.
