How to Make Ginger Oil

Turning ginger root into oil, one of the best ways to use ginger medicinally, couldn't be easier. All you need is fresh ginger root and oil. The total cost for making a month's supply of ginger oil is less than $8.

Medicinal Properties of Ginger Oil

Ginger oil is is an easy way to consume ginger and is used medicinally to help with the following conditions:

How to Make Ginger Oil

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of Thinly Sliced Ginger Root
  • 1 ½ Cups Coconut Oil or Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Rinse one cup of thinly sliced fresh ginger (with the skin left on).
  2. Spread pieces out onto a baking sheet and let air dry for at least 6 hours.
  3. Add the ginger slices to an oven-safe bowl (pyrex baking dish) and pour 1 ½ cups of coconut or olive oil into it.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Place the bowl in the oven and let it simmer on 150 degrees Fahrenheit for two hours.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool.
  7. Cover bowl with unbleached cheesecloth and secure top with a rubber band to hold the cloth in place.
  8. Pour the ginger oil into a new clean bowl.  Squeeze the left-over oil on the cheesecloth into the bowl.
  9. Transfer the ginger oil into a bottle.
  10. Label your bottles with an expiration date of 6 months from the date you made the oil.
    (example: Expires December 4, 2019)
  11. Store your bottles in a cool, dark place or in the fridge.

Ginger Oil Dosage

  • 1 or 2 drops is typically added to a glass of water when taken internally for stomach pain, nausea, food poisoning, pms symptoms.
  • For joint or muscle pain, massage two to three drops of oil on the area up to three times daily.
