Juicing for Untreatable Health Problems

I have an encouraging story to share with you all! My husband was repairing a roof for a 74 year old lady, who is also a friend of a friend. This lady ended up telling my husband a story about her restoration to health.
Apparently, several years ago this lady was having constant itchy skin and her hair was falling out. She was in a lot of pain. Doctors thought it was because of her thyroid, so they were going to take it out, but were unable to do so because of a genetic issue she had. In the end they said, "Sorry, there is nothing we can do for you."
Well, this lady is a go-getter and wasn't going to give up that easily. She took charge of her health. She found a reputable naturopathic doctor. She ended up juicing and using essential oils. She started drinking 96 ounces (that's 3 quarts or 12 cups! ) of freshly juiced juice each day. That is a LOT of juice for anyone, and this is a petite lady. She was juicing carrots, celery and I think kale. She was also using essential oils, though I am not sure how.
Well, over time, through her regimen, she was completely healed of all of her health problems.
There was some recent discussion here at EC about attitude and health. I think this lady's positive attitude and motivation to take charge of her own health also went a long way to her healing. Healing is sometimes a lot of WORK! Juicing and drinking 96 ounces of juice a day would be a pain! Sure, it is easier to just take a pill or whatever, which is why some don't bother with the natural route. But her hard work paid off.
This lady also cares for her pet dog and volunteers at a local women's shelter. I think staying involved to the level at which you are able and doing for others in some way also affects your health in a positive way.
This story was inspiring to me and I hope it encourages you, too! Take charge of your health, don't give up, and have a positive attitude. :)

I started juicing about a year ago, when a friend of mine became obsessed with enzymes and their healing properties. At the time I was dealing with severe fatigue, and was willing to try anything.
My favorite juice consists of (all organic):
2 apples
4-6 carrots (depending on size of carrots)
a handful of fresh spinach
I drink this every morning, and sometimes in the evening. I notice an increase in energy, revitalization, my skin glows, acne clears up in days, any congestion disappears, and it also helps suppress appetite.

I noticed one day that my contacts looked rather orange. They're supposed to be mildly blue. After deciding it must have been all the carrot juice I was drinking, I quit drinking carrot juice. Probably a little now and then or diluted would be ok, though. So far the new pair is not orange and I have had almost zero carrot juice. Just a word of caution.

Ha! Ha! Thats a little funny, you must admit! But you are right. When my son was about one years old the only baby food he liked eating were sweet potatoes and carrots among others, but the orange food for some reason he liked best and therefor I would always give it to him because he had a poor appetite. Then when I took him to the doctor for a check up, he went of laughing and told me to take a good look at him and his hands. They were orange! It was funny because here I thought he had a nice summer hue to him! The Doc said you are what you eat (which its true) and therefor you must eat in balance moderation. I guess if I eat to much blue stuff I'll end up looking like a Avatar! LOL... Good advice, for I was a teen mom and rather clueless at the time. Wish I knew all the things I've learned from this amazing website back then!
Love you guys!
Acid Reflux

After a long battle, first with prescriptions, then with nearly every suggestion made here on Earth Clinic, I have finally defeated Acid Reflux by juicing. (I love Earth Clinic, & many of the suggestions here helped, but juicing seemed to resolve my problem.) I improved after juicing for the first time and now, after several months, I can eat anything (except I still avoid chocolate, coffee, & excessive sugar). At my worst, even a single mouthful of any food would set off symptoms. I couldn't lie flat for almost a year. I was up all night many times. I had symptoms of a hiatal hernia as well as reflux. Before I started trying natural remedies, I was on 80 mg/day of Nexium with little relief and discontinued when I started seeing blood in my stools.
A typical juice may have kale, carrots, ginger, cucumber, celery, zucchini (+ maybe 1/2 beet or apple). Be creative but don't overdo it with fruits or sugary veggies.
I also eat oatmeal (soluble fiber acts as prebiotic) w/ cayenne, virgin coconut oil. I eat papayas too. I found baking soda in water at bedtime controlled symptoms when I still had them. These things helped but juicing was the key to conquering. Make small quantities (1 glass or less) and sip. If you are prone to constipation, don't drink too much and take a fiber supplement. If you don't have a juicer, some healthfood stores make fresh juice blends by the glass (again, avoid the sugary blends). My juicer cost about $75 and has been well worth it. One more thing- in my experience, there is no substitute for the nutrition of real, whole food. I have had a pretty healthy diet for a couple of years but never was able to consume the quantity & variety of raw veggies I get w/ juicing.

Juicing for acid reflux makes a lot of sense. Bernard Jensen, Ph. D. Says that we need organic sodium (found in vegetables) to make hydrocloric acid and to protect our stomach lining. He says that we have acid reflux, not because we have too much Hydrochloric acid but too little, thus digestion becomes slow and we are burping food up many hours after eating. The vegetables he said that were highest in sodium content include: asparagus, beets, red cabbage, carrots, celery, dandelion, kale, parsley and spinach. He also recommends whey and veal joint broth.
I also juice aloe vera (do not juice the outside, this will surely tear up your stomach). I just scrape out the insides, mix it with a little water and use my hand blender. Drink soon after preparing because much of it's healing properties wane after 15 minutes.

Acne

There are several posts relating to juicing helping acne. I just read research that indicates adult acne is a symptom of too little stomach acid (Google it). Vegetable juice has a lot of "organic sodium" which increases stomach acid. Maybe that's the reason it helps. Also perhaps you could Google for the veggies containing the most sodium & zero in on those for even better results.

Meenu from Vancouver, that heart rate is pretty high. I have noticed that since I have started the ACV therapy with baking soda my heart rate has gone up a bit and I have a lot of nervous energy. Maybe it is part of our detox... Maybe we should cut back a little bit on the ACV so detox won't be so intense. I do not drink coffee and eat very little meat. Look into Linus Paulins (sp?) vitamin c therapy (you could be suffering from cronic scurvy, causing a build up of cholesteol in your artieries) He recommends high dose vitamin C that heals your arteries and Lysine to cover the sticky stuff in your arteries so they won't stick to the walls of your arteries- it is like tepholone for the bad stuff). Drink your 8 glasses of water (it helps lower your blood pressure). Take care of yourself, Kathie

★☆☆☆☆WARNING!
Sometimes I wake up at night with one or both feet cramping and sometimes it is my ankle or leg cramping. Sometimes if I am in bed for 1/2 hour or so before going to sleep my feet will cramp. Someone said stretching your feet and legs will help but it didn't. Usually I will walk around for awhile and usually take Vit C, D and E. Within 5 minutes the cramping sometimes stops. During the time I was healing my liver from jaundice I was taking 45-60 ounces of carrot juice a day and then I had a lot of cramps.
Cabbage Juice for GERD

A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with GERD and I suffered from acid reflux and heartburn. The medication prescribed by the doctor rather worsened my situation and I suffered a number of side effects from it. I came across a site suggesting that drinking raw cabbage juice cures acid reflux and other problems related to the stomach, such as ulcer.I did further research to confirm this and decided to give it a try.
The general suggested daily dosage is about a quart [800ml] of raw cabbage juice to be taken about 4 times daily. I found that rather too much and I started with 400ml [100ml x 4].I noticed great improvement and after one week I reduced the dosage to 300ml [100ml x 3]. After about 3 weeks of the whole therapy, I decided to take only 200ml a day. Those with stomach ulcers or acute cases of acid reflux might need to take the full dosage.
I have stopped drinking cabbage juice since about 10 months now and I haven't had any serious reflux problems. For those who would like to try it, PLEASE NOTE that it is said to have strong impact on the thyroid glands [the more reason why I never consumed 800ml a day!]. Not to mention the stench - it is better stored in an air-tight water bottle and kept in the fridge. Good luck to all, and thanks for the great site.

Lemon Ginger Blast

Hi everyone! This is the most helpful discussion on the topic of parasites that I've found on the internet. Thanks!
I want to share a raw juice recipe called "Lemon Ginger Blast" that I'm pretty excited about. It's supposed to be anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-mucus, anti-parasitic, enhances circulation, stimulates digestion, neutralizes free radicals, oxygenating, detoxifying, energizing, and anti-aging. It has habanero peppers so I'm pretty sure it's all of those things! Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 apples
- 1 - 3 inch piece of raw ginger
- 1 lemon (unpeeled if organic; peeled if not organic)
- 1 bunch cilantro
- 1 bunch parsley
- 1 bunch arugula
- 1 cucumber
- 3 habanero hot peppers
Directions:
- Wash all veggies (I use apple cider vinegar)
- Run all the ingredients through a juicer
- Pour into a glass mason jar
- Drink it daily for breakfast!
NOTE: For more information google "Lou Corona" "Lemon Ginger Blast". Also see Dan "The Life Regenerator" MacDonald's website.

I've had receding gums since I was a teenager, I'm now 50 and have gotten by. Lately my teeth are looking pretty good, my top gums have all grown down. About 2 weeks ago I started vegetable juicing again and feel that that has been a big factor. I have an old Juiceman and don't usually buy organic although I also have my own garden. A typical green juice would be celery, cucumber, some greens (kale, mustard greens, spinach, etc. ) and an apple. I was using juices from the Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead documentary. Also since my juicer doesn't do greens too well I also make green smoothies in my $20 blender which works fine. I've been a strict lacto vegetarian for 30 yrs. I feel my health has quite noticeably improved. I was getting a spot on my nose that bled so I think it was basal cell, I'm still watching it but it has almost disappeared. For teeth I highly recommend D3 which I don't take religiously but do take. For vegans there is now a plant source D3 from mushrooms, I guess you can't name products here but I found it in Earthfare. D3 should have k2 with it and you should take it separately from Vit A and with some fat (optimally).

Hello,
The below helped my blood sugar go from 140 to 96 in a few weeks. I take 10 oz of this every morning when I wake up.
1 full celery
1 big cucumber
2 handfuls parsley
1/2 piece ginger
juice of half lemon
Juice the above and remove all pulp. Drink immediately first thing in the morning on empty stomach. This helps balance and maintain blood sugar levels all day. If need be repeat at 4pm.

Slice Stringy Vegetables for Easier Juicing...
If you've ever tried juicing a hunk of burdock root you know that stringy vegetables can be nearly impossible to juice. If you slice the offender into lengthwise strips about 1/2 inch wide it will be much easier to juice.
Acne

I agree with vegetable juicing as a potential remedy for acne. I gave Hydrogen Peroxide a go for a few weeks and it did seem to help, but it wasn't stopping the root of the problem, only nipping it in the bud, as it were (not to mention dying a lot of my brown hair blond). My acne would still come, and then the HP would help tame it down sooner. Not really ideal, but I went along with it, because I loathe acne.
THEN I began juicing green vegetables. Actually I began this as an attempt to heal my chronic sinusitis (my number one affliction and arch-nemesis) by way of adjusting my pH. Sinusitis persists (still working on that), but my acne has halted--that is, more or less, gone.
I've been using slightly different recipes than above. I limit the sugary (glucose) vegetables like carrots to one or two. I try to use mostly dark leafy greens like spinach, collards, kale, with a base of small amounts of carrot, celery, and cucumber. Parsley and the like is good too. I've been told (and read), think "green." I experiment and switch it up form week to week, but try to make small amounts of concentrated green juice. I'm talking 10 ozs or less. I take mine on an empty stomach in the mornings. Within a few days, before I could pinpoint what was going on, my acne just stopped forming. It's been a few weeks now and the improvement is substantial.
I'm not sure what to attribute this to; my internet research (what other kind is there?) yields conflicting results. Some say pH! some say detox! others hormones! Fortunately I don't have to know how it works. I just drink it and smile my unblemished face.
Will this work for you? I can not say. Do I think it could? Yes. Do I think you should invest in a $40 entry level juicer and some organic vegetables to see what happens? Yes. Best of luck everyone.
PS I will say this last thing. I read you should be careful with too much greens too soon. I believe this is important. Please start slow. Maybe try some palatable juices first (as mentioned above, carrot, celery, cucumber), then slowly add the greens in. I know you're eager for clean skin, but take it slow and you'll be glad.
Acid Reflux

Thanks for sharing, so many great ideas here. I was in the hospital last yr.with low potass. and other gastroenteritis symptoms. I changed my eating habits over the past year. I finally got test and results last week were GERD. I had very similar problems as T and some.... Dry cough, breathing problems and inconsistent pain in stomach and back.
I tried magnesium citrate(nat. calm) along with potassium (vit. shop). Food has been my medicine and i could not be happier.
If i have tomato, caffiene, wheat, corn these things will throw my day off. I have found natural/organic is tastier and works better. Less meat more veges. fruits, rice, soaked beans and nuts(sprouted when possible)In general less packaged. Juicing or blender is a part of my prep but not everyday. most of what i do is in moderation and variety. Right now i have tried curry blend. Indian inspired food seems to help my digestion.
Whole Foods has been my favorite place to shop! LOCAL produce is ripe and edible :) I find some at walmart now. (figs, mixed greens,) Kroger has things but not as fresh. I find balancing electrolytes very important. I also have clear thinking, energy,no cravings.-- i was so addicted to sugars especially chocolate.
Questions i still have: does anyone know or have unwanted weight loss with Gerd? I have always been thin so it shows on me.sensitive system has increased over the past 10yrs. I do feel much better in general after eating good.
Thanks again everyone for your info.
Acid Reflux
Posted by T (Dumont, Nj) on 11/02/2010
Following up on my previous post on Acid Reflux, I have continued to avoid acid reflux. I believe celery may have been the most important ingredient in my juice recipe, although all raw vegetables include enzymes that help with digestion -- I think they work better than enzyme pills. I also think celery/juice heals the stomach lining and esophagus. I now eat whole celery, esp. with heavy meals, and still avoid chocolate, coffee, and excessive tomato sauce. Occasionally I juice and drink with my meals. I am sure to add a few pinches of chia seed for fiber. Really helps keep things moving, which will also help you avoid acid reflux! The other night my husband had acid reflux and I suggested he eat some celery. The reflux went away immediately. I juiced celery for him the next day as insurance. I added 2 drops of stevia for taste.

My comment is to Gaye from Greenwich, CT. I have been juicing for more than 20 years. You need to make 7/8's of your juice as carrot juice and 1/8 greens. Or 1/8 combination of greens and beets. Beets are a powerful cleanser and you will have to lay down for half an hour after taking too much because of the cleaning effect, no matter how long you have been juicing! So be careful. Carrot Juice is the closest thing to the make-up of your blood. To give you an idea of how much beets to use we juice 4 lbs of carrots, one whole cucumber and a small beet the size of a golf ball. You can judge from that what amount you will need. Maureen

Juice Fasting

I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis almost 25 years ago and was suffering on and off with painful inflammation in my hands. After taking all the usual prescribed medicines for about a year, I had enough and went on to cure myself. I did 4 weeks of juice fasting and afterwards ate only vegan and mostly raw foods (all organic). I also let the dentist remove all my amalgams. Over the years when my diet got poor and my stress levels high, I would get inflammation again. Whenever I went back to juice fasting (the ultimate detoxification, I would do this for all kinds of diseases) and eating RAVE diet (google it) foods, I get symptom free. Stress in life is often unavoidable, but we have power over the foods we eat. Juice fasting and RAVE diet are my cure for Rheumatoid arthritis. If I find myself eating too sweet (sugar is poison, I use Stevia and Agave syrup only), I counteract with greens. (alalize again). Industrial food (all prepared food) is poison. I don't eat it.
