So what brand has more copper in it? Most of the labels don't mention the copper content. So how are we to know?

Iron Content
Posted by Robert Henry (Ten Mile, Tn) on 01/16/2017

KIT,,,,,,, our BSM is 3% iron and there is no way a molasses can have 20%. I think that is 20% of what the FDA recommends daily. Suggest you reread the label. I use a tbsp of BSM in my coffee every morning. My back PT is at the age where she needs iron, but pills cause her grief. She was not aware of the iron content of BSM. I cannot believe what health folks and MD's don't know. They need to read EC.

Daughter from Atlanta came in with a bad cold. I put her on apple juice and Echinacea and Gold Seal and she was good the next day. Folks need to understand that it is your immune system that solves your ailment. Pharma can help your symptoms, but not solve your problem. Your body does that.

Our pioneers learned about Echinacea from the Western Native Americans.

House of Herbs Blackstrap Molasses

Hello Sleger,

My Organic Molasses claims to be Unsulphered and to be a good source of Vitamin B6, Potassium, Calcium and Iron. Says it is USDA, organic and Fair-trade certified. Fields are not burned, the sugar mill is energy self-sufficient and the crushed cane is used to generate electricity!!

Not sure if a sulphured version would matter to me but I must follow up on that one - my MSM tablets are not agreeing with my stomach sad to say and that is sulphur.

This Molasses is made in Paraguay by/for "Wholesome Sweeteners". It is my go-to favourite whenever available.

Comes in a 32 fl oz. / 944 mls bottle.

You might wish to check it out?

Works for me - usually combined with the ACV in a warmed drink.

Cheers, Michael

According to the actual product labels for Crosby brand I found on Amazon, the Crosby brand does NOT contain copper at all.

Brer Rabbit Blackstrap Molasses
Posted by KT (Usa) on 07/21/2016

I just received a case of Brer Rabbit BSM that has a "best by" date of 6-25-19. The label has different nutrition facts than what was posted here in 2007.

I'll just report the different ones:

Sodium 30 mg., Potassium 450 mg., Total Carbs. 13 g., Sugar 9 g., Protein 1 g. and Iron 4%

I have emailed www.bgfoods.com to confirm their iron % amount from the 2007 post of BSM comparisons.

Dear EC,

This is a reply I received this morning about the Brer Rabbit inquiry about the nutritional content change. I only specified my concern for the amount of iron so I assume their testing was current for the other nutrients. I was happy to see the increase of potassium.

From: [email protected]
Date: Tue Jul 26 08:31:36 EDT 2016

Dear KT,

The iron content was changed to reflect the amount found in the molasses used in the current product.

Sincerely,

Right now, I've been buying Blackstrap brand "Aunt Patti's" which just indicated "unsulphured" on the front label. I'm glad to find this thread as I don't know much at all about which kind to take, but figured at least starting on this (specifically for my spleen issue) was better than not getting started at all. Thank you for posting, and any feedback for me is welcome, Denise

I have used House of Herbs blackstrap molasses for several years to keep my iron up so dr.'s are not on my case but it is no longer available thru them + it says 70% iron but I have not been able to find a new company offering that % or 3.9 mg. Can anyone lead me to where I might get it? Thank you.

Hello,

Can you please tell me where I can buy melrose organic unsulphered blackstrap molasses in the United States. It's the only one that contains copper. Thank you.

Iron Content
Posted by KT (Usa) on 01/15/2017

I have two brands of BSM. The % amount of iron per TBSP of one is 4% and the other is 20%. What determines such a difference?

Iron Content
Posted by KT (Usa) on 01/17/2017

The label on my "Tree of Life", 100% natural, unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses says a serving size is 1 TBSP. It lists the iron content of 1 TBSP as 20%. This is just 20% of what is needed for your daily dose. My Brer Rabbit label says 1 TBSP contains only 4% iron. So that would translate to 4% of what you need each day.

My question was what determines the iron content?

Golden Barrel

Golden Barrel has additional sugar added in the form of cane juice. It may not be obvious to most people, but it's on the label and I'd rather not have that.

Golden Barrel
Posted by Wayne (Ca) on 02/04/2018

Hi Darbla, where did you see on the label about the added sugar? I've looked at various entries on Amazon for "Golden Barrel Unsulfured Black Strap molasses" but all of them just list "molasses" as the sole ingredient. Thanks!
