I use 1 teaspoon extra virgin Olive Oil for 15 minutes every morning, first thing.

Oil Pulling has made my teeth stronger and whiter and it is healing a disorder I was going to doctors for nearly 20 years. I've tried all kinds of antibiotics to cure sinusitis. Now after oil-pulling, I feel the pressure in my upper gum, above where a tooth was extracted. Above the bony part of the gum. So I 've had an abcess for two decades. No wonder people stepped back when talking to me. My breath smelled like 20 year old decay.

I developed tinnitis and oil-pulling may eventually clear up all the abcess right at the base of my maxillary sinus, BUT actually above the bony part of my gum where a tooth was extracted in the 80s.

I have been OP with 1 T. sesame oil and also taking coconut oil - 2 teas/ 3 x day as a supplement (not OP with coconut). The OP has been fantastic, however, ingesting the coconut oil has caused some pretty intense detox reactions. Since it has such excellent antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties, I suspect your symptoms are related to the release of toxins from these organisms as they die off. I've experienced heavy metal detox symptoms with the sesame oil OP, but they've been manageable with the addition of a oral chelator or metal binder like charcoal, zeolite, etc. My brain feels much clearer, I have more energy and the mercury staining on my gums has decreased greatly. Try using a different oil, like organic unrefined sesame for a while before using coconut.

What you're describing is an onset of intense detox. This is not unusual for many of the natural remedies here on this site hence why so many people caution to go slowly. I eat very healthily, try to stick to organic for the most part, eat close to the earth and don't use any drugs or medication. Still, upon taking apple cider vinegar last December without much thought after purchasing the one with the mother from Whole Foods, I went home after work with it and took a capful in water. That night I woke up with a raging headache, chills and fever throbbing neck pain and immediately I knew that what I was experiencing was a major detox. Basically, it is best to try to let the detox occur instead of masking it with other drugs, etc. That's why it's best to move slowly. By going back on medications you are creating more toxins in the body. Also, be aware that they are finding a lot of connection between candida and chronic fatigue. Do research and learn how to move through the symptoms (lots of water, rest, alkaline foods, etc.) The phlegm that comes out is poison trying to get out of the body and is what causes much havoc through the body. Chinese medicine has lot to say about phlegm and what it can do to the body. You really want to encourage that to come out. When I worked with H2O2, the amounts of mucus that exited my body- well, you don't even want to go there! I cannot believe how great I feel though since that detox. I have loads of energy, my skin is clear and I don't have to constantly clear my throat as I used to. Now, I'm on oil pulling and that is miraculous in and of itself. I wish you the best in your exploration and research.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I tried the oil pulling for bleeding gums and a tooth that had started to feel loose. I did 10 minutes two mornings with unrefined sesame oil followed by brushing with baking soda. The results were amazing for my tooth and sums. The tooth was not loose anymore, no bleeding and I could chew on that side after many months. However, I started to feel sore with serious headaches and neck pain, and fatigue. I have chronic fatigue, and I really try to avoid doing anything that would trigger this. So, I stopped the oil pulling. Things got worse, I had to go see my doctor, he said I was badly congested and that was causing the severe headaches and neck pain. Now I am on 3 different medications with no relief. Could this be due to the oil pulling? Did it bring out all this mucus without getting rid of it?

Any comments would be appreciated. I would like to go back to the oil pulling for my teeth, but cannot risk the sinus congestion. One episode last year led to 5 months on 2 different antibiotics, and I really wish to avoid a repeat. Thanks.

I started OP about ten days ago with 1 tblsp of Safflower Oil for twenty minutes in the AM. I had no side effects except for a mild tummy ache after every pull. Within a week, I noticed that I was sleeping so much better. This is huge since I am always battling with sleep issues.

After reading testimonies from this site and talking with my friend who OP, I decided to try Coconut Oil. I did this one time, before bed, with 1 tsp. of VCO and I had a huge reaction! I woke up at 3AM with great pain in my neck, back , arms and feet, and my stomach was hurting. I also felt very anxious. It's hard to believe that I would have such a reaction, but there is no other explanation.. I have stopped OP for a few days, because I feel so terrible still. I even feel slight nerve pain around my face. It makes me think that I was triggering a heavy metal detox with the OP.

Has anyone else experienced such a strong reaction? I really want to get back to pulling with the Safflower oil, since this felt so healthful to me, but am afraid to start again with this pain in my body.

Thanks!

It might just have been a coincidence that you had chest pains when you were doing your OP. You can get chest pains for no reason, maybe you had a stressful day or maybe it was humid, or maybe you ate something that was giving off referred pain to your chest. but ask your doctor and maybe he can help with why you were having chest pains. usually OP wouldnt cause chest pains, but if it does, it would probably be due to detoxifying reasons. good luck.

Triggers Hip Pain

Hi:o),
I came across your post and thought it was interesting. I started oil pulling about 2 months ago. At the same time I started a bottle of gold coin grass to help out my gallbladder situation. I was painfully limping for ~3 days and sore for a few weeks. I had attributed the pain to the gold coin-gallbladder meridians pass through hip areas. But now I wonder which caused the pain. I continued on through. Healing crisises are common and at least signify to me I'm heading in the right direction. My hip pain has never been as bad as that first month. Hope this helps:o)

I took a couple of teaspoons of raw honey in my mouth and kept swishing it around for 20 minutes (procedure same as oil pulling), and the spat it out and rinsed my mouth. Voila! Toothache gone immediately!!

Oil Pulling Causing Crippling Pain in Hip

Hello, I started oil pulling some weeks ago now but after two weeks I got a crippling pain in my hip. I switched oils from sunflower to olive but this made no difference. I stopped the oil pulling for two weeks and the pain stopped. I restarted the oil pulling again yesterday and immediately the pain came back. I've never had this pain before and it's so bad I've started to walk with a limp. Has anyone else experienced this pain? Should I stop? Continue? I was doing so much good for the pain. Help..

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I started oil pulling about a month ago. I've noticed my sinuses are a whole lot better and I sleep better at night. The changes I noticed were fever blisters on my lips and my eyes are having that crusting over thing going. Something's definitely happening.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I have just started OP and have found that on each occasion (first thing in the morning for 3 mornings now) I couldn't get past the 5 to 6 minute mark of 'swishing' before I would start gagging and have to spit out. What I have noticed is that the oil I'm swishing seems to change - we all know that it needs to thin out and goes white but it's as though the toxins are infusing the oil, taste absolutely vile and thereby make me want to puke. I'm guessing that as I continue with the OP, this will lessen. Has anyone else experienced anything similar.

I should also add that I have horrid allergies which seem to have significantly reduced even from day 1. I also feel alot more engergised in the morning after OP. So I'm definately feeling benefits which is why I'm keen to continue and indeed make this a part of my daily ablutions.

Thank U. Mx

I have a very bad outer ear infection for about two years now very sore and tender. I tried OP for the first time using cold pressed Sesame oil. In about 3 pulls my ear infection cleared up the next morning AMAZING getting bumps on my arms guess it is the toxins being flushed out. thanks for a wonderful site.

Hi. This is my third week of oil pulling, and the oddest thing has happened. I've had ingrown hairs for years. Suddenly when I woke up this morning, those ingrown hairs were no longer hidden beneath my skin. I pulled them with no problem. What in the world does oil pulling have to do with ingrown hairs?

By the way, other results so fair: the whites of my eyes are particularly white. They're usually off-white, even yellow; mucous drains at the back of my throat when I pull (this just began happening a few days ago); my skin is suddenly baby-soft; and facial pockmarks are lightening up.

Oil pulling has become a very peaceful exercise for me. Love it! Thankfuk for the knowledge!

Hip Pain

Hi everyone, I have been using this site daily since November 08. I have tried so many of the remedies from this site too numerous to list and each has been effective. No negative results. I have tried all of them for at least one month if not more. I have used them on all of my kids ranging from 10- 24 and my husband as well and sent many people here to check this amazing site out.

My biggest issue has been incredible hip pain. I have been a ballet dancer my entire life and 3 years ago I suddenly could hardly move my legs in my hips. When I say suddenly I mean within a weeks time- from being able to dance, take class and show steps when teaching. It has been a long journey with taking Chinese herbs (I highly recommend them especially over any medicine as they are healing rather than masking), acupuncture, chiropractics, massage, energy healings as well as remedies from here. At any rate, I avoided trying the oil pulling as it sounded to simplistic to be effective and tried many of the others.

Finally, after minimal results to my hips from the many remedies (which helped other issues) I decided to go for the oil pulling with organic sesame oil after reviewing so many wonderful testimonies about it. I have used Aryuvedic therapies in the past so I figured why not and recall Deepak Chopra recommending this in Perfect Health when I read it many years ago. Well, I started doing it in the morning for 20 minutes for one week with no real results to speak of and then I decided to step it up to twice a day once in the morning and once in the evening. For me the results have been nothing less than miraculous after 3 long years of excruciating pain. At first, after two days, I was skeptical questioning if it was some fluke! But no, each day gets better and better. I have kept up this practice for almost 2 weeks now encouraged by my results. I went from not being able to stand up without incredible help from my arms or being able to get up the stairs without someone either pushing me from behind or using my arms to pull and prop myself up to being able to just stand and walk up the stairs with very little pain. I can now sit down to the floor and get back up. Many friends have asked me if I would consider hip replacements but I was determined to see if I could find a different answer believing that there are answers other than medicine, surgeries, no hope other than western medicine, etc. Well, I am ecstatic to say I have done it! Please give this a try if you have joint issues. And to everyone, I say never give up hope. Believe the answer will be given and have faith. I understand that there will be days that you will feel hopeless but don't give in to that.

Blessings to all, Lisa

I have tried oil pulling with sesame and sunflower oil for the last one month. my skin looks younger, softer and the age spots are quickly disappearing.I have also been taking EVCO now and then and have been using it as a moisturiser. In addition, I have used baking soda for brushing my teeth. They are whiter and firmer and when I wake up in the morning my breath is fresh! Thanks for this website.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Hi. I recently started Oilpulling, (EVOO) before breakfast. For the first 2 weeks it was fine, I felt, more energetic, my skin started looking new, dewy, soft to the touch. Plaque started falling off my teeth, which looks whiter, gums healthier. I started to sweat, (which I havent done in years, no matter how much outdoor work I did.) I wasnt aware the sweet cravings had gone away, untill I went to my snack pantry and saw it filled.

After that I started getting chest pains, (I do have a mitral valve prolapse, which I was told, will repair itself after a period of time.) The first night with chestpains, I just laid down and waited to die, the pain being so severe. I stopped the OP because I was scared to try it again. I do want it to work because of all the positive results Ive seen so far.

Do you think that the pain was part of the detox process, or should I switch oils, or do you think its not for me.

health and oil pulling

iam a 58 yr old female in good health. Since my early 40's when i had arthritic twinges (i remembered my grandmother's hooked fingers) i decided to learn about diet and have followed a healthy lifestyle influenced by reading and my own experiences.

I eat fruit on an empty stomach which is so effective that my sceptical husband does it! Also i eat according to my blood type ( i used to have eczema and discovered that tomatoes and potatoes, the deadly nightshade vegetables are like poison to A types)

i like hearing about other aids to health and i have been oil pulling for a couple of months it has helped my dry skin and hair. My theory is that the swishing and the saliva change the oil chemically so that the full goodness of it is taken up by the body. I clean my teeth carefully afterwards with a natural toothpaste then sip a large glass of filtered room temp. water (i do it once in the morning immediately on rising). I use 1 12 tsp of organic olive oil and will try walnut tomorrow.

My mother who is 81 also has found great benefit from it; she has followed my health ideas and is on no medication (she hops and skips about showing up many people who are years younger than her), Isn't it incredible how many people think that bad health is 'dropped on them from above' rather than the terrible high sugar, junk fat, high carbs diet that the advertisers 'make them eat.

Oil Pulling And ACV. Stumbled upon your site searching for skin care products... Anyway spent a few days reading the feedback and decided to try ACV and Oil pulling. Only three days into it but my teeth are whiter from the oil pulling and I have noticed a significant loss of appetite for the ACV. Very interesting, I thought it was all BS lol.

I started OP with VCO for 2 weeks ago; 1 tbls, 20 mins, twice per day (first thing in the morning and before dinner). I have been keeping a log of when I OP and how I feel about the experience of this. Reading peoples comments about this OP thing has been wonderful and helpful however I have not had these "remarkable" results as many have claimed. After doing much reading about the positive healthful results from using coconut oil and palm oil, I am convinced that using these oils is better than not using them. I am obese, diabetic and will be turning 54 this November. I have not seen any changes in my blood sugar levels but I do love the way my mouth feels after OP. The small amount of gum bleeding after flossing has completely disappeared and I do believe the OP has corrected this condition. I will continue with this form of treatment and keeping my log of experiences with it and I think I will try another type of oil after about a month of doing this. Does anyone else have similar experiences such as mine and can you tell me what other results you might be having? Are there any other suggestions people have?

In response to Linda from Port of Spain and chronic bad breath. Please look into Hydrogen Peroxide treatment as described right here on EarthClinic, in the Halitosis section. It should take care of bad breath in one go. I would use a 50/50 solution of 3% H2O2 and distilled water to swish around for half a minute or so. Good luck.
