Baking Soda

Hi, I used a lesser amount of Baking Soda for several months because I had very acute pain from heart burn (the heartburn had been ongoing for years.. I got the idea for Baking Soda one night when I thought I was dying).. I would take 1/3 to 1/2 teaspoon in 8 ounce glass of water whenever I had symptoms, usually only 2 or 3 times daily. The heartburn went away right away but I would have mild reaccurance and therefore I would take another glass of water with the Baking Soda. Eventually, I almost never get heartburn. I found that certain foods would be a catalyst to heartburn (or if my digestion was slow).. For me most ice cream, cake, and pie were triggers. Heavy meat (anything that is hard to digest). I eat more carefully.... less processed or fast food... more salads... One symptom with the baking soda was that if I took it too frequent I would get minor diarrhea but it would come on fast and made it so I could hardly ever go out.. I figured it out and cut back on the use of the Baking Soda... Turns out I was taking it too often and really didn't need it anymore... That is what I believe...

The baking soda and water works. My chest was burning and I couldn't sleep, so I mixed a lil bit of baking soda in a cup of water and it instanly made me feel better. My chest actually felt cool afterwards. This works great.

Every time I get heartburn I always put a teaspoon of baking soda in about 3 ounces of warm water and chug it down. Gets rid of it every time. My grandmother taught me this.

Carbonated Beverages

I had heartburn once and treated it quickly with ginger ale. It only took less than half a mouthful and worked as soon as I swallowed it. I believe the carbonation was the reason it worked and not the ginger. If this is so then other carbonated beverages like cola and carbonated water should also work. I would be interested if someone could try these out and get back to me. Thanks and hope this works.

Carrot Juice

I have discovered that carrot juice works very well on heartburn and acid reflux! It really helps better than anything else I have ever tried. Usually when I get heart burn I may have the need to belch or burp a little and I can always feel the acid creeping up. I drink about 4 oz of carrot juice and the problem goes away. If I need to drink more later I have another 3-4 oz. I don't usually juice my own carrots, I just buy the carrot juice from the grocery store. But if you own a juicer I am sure fresh carrot juice would be delicious!

really really bad heart burn... I have Barret's Disease, and the only thing i've found was presription. I think I am going to try the celery --- seems much cheaper. I'm talking pain from heartburn that one could confuse as a possible heart attack. the pain goes right through into my back, and in my shoulder. if any one has any other suggestions PLEASE PLEASE post them; as a chronic heartburn sufferer you know what it's like to live with every day.

I can't believe it! I had the worst heart burn today. Tonight it was making my chest ache and I didn't think it would go away. But then I found this website and ate a stick of celery, which was hard for me to believe, but now my chest is COMPLETELY painless after about 5 min!!! And the burning in my belly has almost completely subsided. I'm so happy, now I can sleep well :]

I had been suffering with severe heartburn for hours and after eating a few bites of celery, per a suggestion on your site, it went away, immediately! This post was super helpful as I find raw celery to be repulsive and never would have known it worked for heartburn. I had probably eaten at least 6 antacid tablets to no avail. Thanks for the wonderful information!

I love this website! I was looking for a remedy for a sore throat, and found your page. I wanted to let you know of a cure for heartburn that works every time! It's faster and much better for you than the medications you can buy. Celery. I didn't believe it would work until I tried it myself, and now everytime I get heartburn, that's how I cure it. It only takes a little bit, usually half a stalk. If it comes back, I eat more. If it's really bad, I'll eat a whole stalk. Great cure and I wanted to share it with your readers. Thanks for a terrific website
