1 for BS. Got my first run-in with gout 2 days ago (left big toe joint). I have had a couple of bouts with tendonitis in the upper arm and shoulder (rotator) in the past so after taking two 8-year-old naproxin pills over approx 8 hours, I settled in for about a week of slow recovery. However just before hobbling into the sack I borrowed some old baking soda from a friend's fridge and downed about 3/4 tsp in a glass of water. Slept good, and as I sit here writing this the following morning, I have just finished cleaning out the storerroom in my apartment. Swelling/redness 90% gone and 100% no pain.

I once caught gout after eating sea food and it hurt like hell in my right big toe. I could barely walk it hurt so bad. I did an internet research and found that gout was caused by the build up of an excessive amount of uric acid in the joints. Men and Women-How do you get rid of too much acid on your car battery? You neutralize the acid by adding an ALKALIZING substance: Baking soda and water. For gout suffers, start drinking alkaline water and a 1/2 tsp. of baking soda to the water and you'll start flushing out the uric acid from your joints. You can also go to a local health food store and get yourself some celery seed extract. This will also help get rid of the excessive uric acid build up. Your body is 70% water, start drinking alkaline water and watch and feel your health improve.

My daughter just called me to confirm that in 12 hours, 1 tsp. of baking soda to a 1/4 cup of water REMOVED (completely) horrible gout pain... So bad they "wanted to cut their foot off" last night. She said she probably put too little of water in the mix, but it worked for them. Shocked, they said there was NO PAIN this morning. Not sure if it took away the pain last night but I think so! I just sent her the link on gout remedies and ACV! That's the one that is really supposed to work. Thank you for this website.

Had gout several times, suffered with it till gone. Was at the V.A. Hospital one day when it hit me and the Dr. Prescribed medication. Several days and no help. Found a web site that said to take 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and glass of water daily. Two days and no gout. Really enjoy your site and am taking Apple Cider Vinegar for copd. Been on it for about two weeks and have cut meds down to less than half and breathing is much better with more energy. Thanks and hope this info helps others as it did me. Keep up the good work.

I have had terrible gout in the past. I was so desperate at one point I looked up home remedies and found that taking 1/2 a tsp. baking soda in a large glass of water 3 times a day works for me [every time] over nite, for at least ten years. It seems not to work for everybody but I always keep some on hand. Good luck, Ricky

I've had muscle/joint stiffness in my right big toe for 10 days now and it has just gotten worse. I have been trying toe flexing exercises and massaging my foot. It felt good but didn't help. It took three days for me to remember this sites name! I have it book marked now. Every other website didn't even mention Gout nor baking soda. I had been taking ACV for four days now (with the mother). Not much of a difference, if any. I wasn't even going to try the baking soda at first. But, after reading that it only took a day I decided to give it a try. I had a glass of water sitting in front of me and the baking soda was just a few feet away. Within 2 hours, I barely noticed any pain in my foot. I'm only 44 years young. I eat well and I am a yoga and zumba instructor. I run, bike and hike when I'm not doing my first two hobbies. Gout be gone!

The easiest and simplest remedy for gout is simply 1/2 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in half a glass of water 2 or 3 times a day outside mealtimes. This will alkalize the blood and quickly dissolve the offending uric acid crystals in his body.

Another remedy which works also is Chanca Piedra -- 1000 mgs twice daily. This herb is an alkalizer and also a gentle diuretic which also spruces up both the liver and kidneys. I gave this remedy to a friend to help with his diabetes problems and it also cured his gout pain completely as well. Best to also take 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt or fulvic acid per day to help replenish and minerals lost through the diuretic effect.

I have had a few severe bouts of what was diagnosed as tennis and golfers elbow. After many weeks, my qulaiity of life destroyed and trying all the remdies of straps and ice and rest and even accupuncture I finally had to have cortisone injestion. This time round I decided to try 'Applied Kinesiology'. The diagnosis is believed to be gout. I was prescibed 1/4 Bi-Carbonate Soda [Baking Soda] in a small amount of cold water three times daily and 1/4 teaspoon liquid zinc twice daily. After 48 hours I definately have relief. I wondered if anyone has had experienced gout in an elbow. By the way the kinesiologist said "definately no AppleCider Vinegar".

Baking soda works, the gout is somehow associated with ph and the baking soda will neutralize it. I have had severe gout where it will attack both feet altenatively and I need to crawl on my knees to get anywhere. I've had it spread up into my wrists with intense pain. I even have passed stones through my urine and experienced terrible pain. If u wanna get rid of gout drink baking soda and water. I don't know how much. 1 glass with a spoonful of baking sode u will see results within the hour.

The sodium in baking soda is not a salt compound.

Is it only my husband who has gout everywhere except his feet? He's had it for about 2 1/2 months and has been wracked with pains, in his hips, legs, shoulders, forearms, wrists and hands. It was only diagnosed as gout after 5 weeks and he was given hip x-rays, blood tests and paracetamol. Then he was diagnosed with gout and given codeine (double dose). We're hoping that the baking soda we've just bought will work. Has anyone else had such a severe dose of gout, and used baking soda?

Also, is baking soda the same thing as baking powder?

EC: No, baking soda is sodium bicarbonate. Baking powder contains sodium bicarbonate and two more acids, monocalcium phosphate, and sodium aluminum sulfate.

I have had Gout for two months now. Seems to stay with me even though I have quit drinking any alcohol, sodas, now I just drink water. I am trying to figure out what foods triggers it with no results. Yesterday I came on your website and started the Baking Soda Remedy since I cannot find the products for the other Remedies here in Thailand. Started with one half teaspoon last night and Ibuprofen (2 tabs of Advil) and the same this morning. I am about 25% better and will take another one half teaspoon tonight. I am interested in any reports of side effects of the baking soda! Have any been reported on this website? Thanks-More later.

Respectfully, Dan

After suffering with acute pain in my right big toe for one year i heard about this site and what baking soda can do. I took half teaspoon in a glass of water and the pain disappeared in minutes! Previously i couldnt even stand the weight of the sheet on my toe. I am yet to try acv and b.soda. but will do so' and report back. have also been suffering from a lot of joint pain and that is subsiding also. I am very grateful for the info on this site. I received no help from doctors who only prescribe dangerous drugs! L.Wilson NZ.
