Taurine
★★★★★
Taurine is very cheap and is abundant in the human body. Being Taurine deficient can cause anxiety.
I read up on this at the following site: http://www.thewayup.com/newsletters/011500.htm
If this helps just one person, I'm glad I took the time to share it!

Taurine: Another helpful remedy is adrenal supplements; since taking them, I've gotten my life back. I noticed an extraordinary difference in less than a week. I take them every day, although now at a third of the original dose prescribed by a nutrapath.
Ted's Remedies
★★★★★
The remedies I take are:
- 1/4 teaspoon borax & some drops of H202 in 1 liter of water sipped slowly throughout the day.
- Chlorella
- B complex
- Amino Acids
- Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate) in 1/2 glass of water with citric acid.
I take these five days a week. I also use borax in the bath daily.
This program has been adjusted, and I will continue to do so, but I really wanted to write about a major change in my health: anxiety is gone! and most of the kidney pain too! It takes time, it takes alot of reading, it takes a willingness to change diet, lifestyle and our conditioned beliefs, but these remedies have been the best thing to help me....and until I found earthclinic, I had tried it 'all'. I am no longer a slave to untreatable diseases from doctors, or dependent on expensive naturalpaths.
Let's not just 'thank Ted'....let's 'show' him our appreciation. L

I had always loved undershirts that "hugged". And now I found out why! How does it work? I dunno. But it does.

Valerian

I then noticed during the day when it would wear off and saw how much it helped my general anxiety and took half doses as needed. It's incredibly calming and soothing and helps relax my muscles and all the tension in my brain. It's made a huge difference getting through an incredibly stressful time. I hope this helps someone else too!

Agree with you about Valerian.
I have tried Ambien, Lunesta, sominex, booze, etc to sleep. Ambien made my head feel like drank a liter of vodka and I didn't sleep on it either. Booze can also make you feel like you hit your head against the wall. The other stuff just doesn't work. Valerian will never give you a hangover. And if you take it in the day it doesn't leave you sleepy... just relaxed.

Valerian Root, 5-HTP
★★★★☆
Another question regarding my 10yr old son. He was diagnosed about 4 months ago with ADHD and anxiety. I will not put him on Rx medication but we've been doing therapy and extra vitamins and supplements. Like me, his anxiety comes out at night and he also has trouble sleeping. We've tried Melatonin and L-Tryptophan but he still wakes up multiple times per night and has a hard time falling back to sleep. Can he take 5-HTP?

Hi Lauren,
Regarding your son taking 5 - HTP, I don't know what the recommendations are for children. For me however, I would feel more comfortable with that than prescription medications. If you try it, You could do a half a capsule (empty half out) and see how he does with that.
I think you are wise to avoid prescriptions for his ADHD. I am guessing you have probably already tried a lot of things... Just in case, I will mention that food dye makes one of my children very hyper. So, there could be some things you might want to avoid if you haven't already.
An Epsom Salt bath at bedtime might be good to relax him. (1 cup per 20 minute bath - my kids love it. ) I put a drop of lavender in the bath for my one that is high energy (even without the food dye! ) Sleepytime tea is also great at bedtime - even 1/2 cup. My children love it.
Hope you both start getting better rest soon!

@Lauren0305: Both sleep and mental issues or the presence of both are many or most times only symptoms of underlying problems which are almost exclusively associated with modern lifestyle. There are many factors happening in these cases, and the key is removing these factors. Clean(er) air, food, water is where to start. A good whole food multivitamin/mineral supplement is essential as well as extra antioxidant nutrition. Oil Pulling and Detox Foot Pads help remove any stubborn toxins.
This is just my general assessment and there could be other factors involved of which you might get answered here on E. C.

Thank you for the replies. Yes, we cut out all artificial dyes, preservatives, etc many years ago b/c of his ADHD symptoms. His diet isn't as healthy as I'd like b/c he's picky, but I buy about 90% all natural and/or organic foods. I'm trying to cut him back on gluten to see if that affects anything.
Vitamin B3

Vitamin B6
★★★★★
Vitamin B6 will calm you down and if you take it with B12 in the morning, you'll feel energized during the day without any feeling of nervousness or anxiety. Do not overdo B6 because in large quantities it can be harmful. Some say that up to 500 mgs a day is the safe upper limit, but it seems like a lot to me.
I also take 100 mg of B6 at night to help me sleep. B6 is referred to as Nature's Sleeping Pill. I usually take it with inositol, and sometimes add a little L-theanine or Gaba.
Melatonin diminishes as you age, but do not take large doses or it will have the opposite effect. 3 mg works just fine for me, but 10 mgs may have you tossing and turning. With melatonin, less is more.
Vitamin D-3
★★★★★
I would highly suggest this for anyone experiencing anxiety or depression, especially in the winter months or if you work indoors all day. (Make sure it's Vitamin D-3, not D-2). L-Theanine is also nice to supplement this for more immediate relief of anxiety attacks.

Hey Rexine, I must say that I feel the same about the wormwood medicine. I wake up less neurotic and at ease, something that I'm not even familiar with . Great recommendation!
