Dear Earth Clinic,
I was having a very difficult time with UTI's off and on, including using various over the counter medications and UTI aids. I was about to go to my Doctor for help. Instead I decided to eliminate my love for COFFEE and see if my love for coffee was the culprit! And sure enough my UTI's stopped bothering me when I eliminated Coffee for good!
The first few days of no longer using coffee (and I drank loads of it starting at the AM) and my UTI problem halted! I still am no longer drinking coffee and I am doing FINE! I just wanted to share this with other sufferers! I still use the AZO cranberry capsules twice a day for good measure! Thank you DianeC.
Lemon, Cornsilk, Oregano Oil

Once again, I got a UTI. I'm older and seem to be getting them more frequently. This time after I had an illness (was told by a cupping practitioner I'd had COVID) and I had had diarrhea for a couple of weeks. This gave me the UTI, even though I clean always with water and soap after using the bathroom and am careful to not do the things I should not. I got it anyway.
I'd gotten other utis in the past couple of years and never want to go on antibiotics but I could never get rid of them on my own. Cranberry never worked for me, I tried D-Mannose without success.
Then I read two solutions that worked for others that also worked for me. I'll post this under each solution.
The first is lemon water. One person said cranberry never worked for them (me neither) but lemon did. Hot lemon water 2x a day. It was so much reduced at the end of the day, I was so surprised! I did it for two more days but I still felt twingey.
I had a doctor's appointment the next week, and I thought I'd have to go on antibiotics because even though lemon helped tremendously and immediately, I could still feel it.
So I came back here and started going through every cure. One woman posted about oil of oregano and cornsilk tea, and that she'd had a bad bout of diarrhea and got the UTI right after that, like me. It helped her so that she did not need antibiotics.
I have both cornsilk tea in the house and oil of oregano and made it right away. This was the solution that kicked the final bit of it out of my system. I had to do it for several days. By the time the doctor appointment came days later, I didn't need to say anything to them about it. I felt a little twinge about three days after I stopped taking it. I took two more cups on two more days.
This is the first time ever I have not had to go on antibiotics for a UTI. I hope this helps someone else.
Also the practitioner I saw said if you have diarrhea and UTI, after using the bathroom, first rinse the area with water, then wash with soap and water. Then mix a teaspoon to a tablespoon in a small container of warm water (like a handheld bucket, mine is maybe four cups max). Use that to cleanse the area well. Don't do it frequently because you don't want to kill the good bacteria in the area, but this can be done as a cleanse on a short term 3days or so basis to keep the area clean to help heal. It helped me feel better right away. It doesn't heal the UTI, but does a great job of sanitizing the area for you.
- Thank God for this website. May our Creator bless and heal everyone who comes to this site looking for cures, to those who post their solutions and give all of us hope, and blessings to the developer and people who work on this site.

Thank you both for sharing this wonderful remedy. I'm on my second dose and see a big improvement after adding turmeric. Hopefully this will help someone else :-)
Garlic, ACV, Cranberry Capsules

I've also been plagued with UTI symptoms over the very many years, and can now literally recognize them a mile away! My urologist recommended D-Mannose as a preventative as it prevents the bacteria from building up on the wall of the bladder. Well, I've been using it regularly for the past 3 months, and have had no UTI symptoms for awhile. Of course, staying off sugar and "bad" carbs definitely helps!

I used colloidal silver by Oxysilver with p73 oregano oil. I also drink goldenseal tea daily. I took this after antibiotics didn't clear my bladder infection. I re-tested at the doctor and it was gone.

Having had UTI's periodically, all of my adult life since having children, I was quick to dose myself some ACV and cranberry juice as soon as I felt the symptoms last week. This method usually clears my symptoms up within 24 hours but this last bout was more tenacious, so I came online to look for a more invasive natural approach. My main symptom was continued pain on urination so I scooped up a portion of organic coconut oil, knowing it's antibacterial, antifungal, antimicrobial properties. Utilizing it as a suppository, the symptoms were immediately alleviated and together with my ACV, cranberry with a pinch of baking soda cocktail regimen, I was right as rain within 24 hours. The real task is trying to remember to include ACV in my diet several times a week to prevent the onset of another infection.
Bromelain and Quercetin

Seven or eight years ago, I paid a nurse on the phone on the internet to help me she suggested I take bromelain and quercetin as I had had three and a half years of bloody UTIs! The doctors were no help at all. They kept giving me antibiotics, which never worked. One time I saw about a half an inch of sand in the urine cup. The lab never caught it and it never got recorded! So it could have been kidney stones!
The pain was so severe, it would put my blood pressure up into the stroke range. This was three and a half years of this! Never got any help from any doctors ever! Oh, actually there was one doctor he was a GYN and he prescribed estrogen cream to put up in the vagina every few days a very small amount and that helped tremendously.
Also several nurses said off the record they thought it was Interstitial cystitis since cranberry juice, even unsweetened, would make it worse!
The bromelain and quercetin pills were the answer! They are both enzymes. The bromelain is in the pineapple and green apples and red onions go on my salad with Romaine lettuce and flax seeds and whatever else I want to pile on there with real olive oil from either Italy or Israel and that red vinegar.
Of course, drink plenty of water 20 oz of water first thing in the morning 20 oz before bed and I'm a hundred 25 lb. If you're heavier, drink more. Also, another key is hydration very important hydration means eating the right foods. The minerals you need come from the foods, the water just carries helps carry it around. Drink a cup of water every hour, and don't drink out of plastic bottles.

Tea Tree Oil

As I have gotten older I am more prone to UTI's. It got to the point that intercourse was a guaranteed UTI the next day. However, I have learned that if I use tea tree oil and coconut oil after sex I pretty much won't get a UTI. (I get about 1/4 teaspoon of coconut oil and a drop of tea tree oil and use it topically/vaginally after intercourse.)
This week I got lazy and skipped the tea tree treatment and woke up the next day with pain. Bladder spasms, I think. I immediately used frankincense oil (a couple of drops) in some castor oil on my lower abdomen and used the tea tree/coconut oil vaginally.
Symptoms improved within hours. I was also drinking water with Apple Cider Vinegar.
There you have it. Hope it helps you as much as it has me.

D-Mannose

★★★☆☆
I have suffered several UTIs. For me, D-Mannose did end up clearing up the UTI but at a price...I had horrible abdominal pains because of the gas buildups. I guess this is sort of a freak reaction that happens to some people, because my friend took it (as do many others based off of reading the reviews), and they don't seem to have this issue. I took the recommended dosage on the bottles. I got two different brands just to make sure one brand wasn't bad, but had the same reaction with both.
I have since switched to colloidal silver for treatment for UTIs and it works wonderfully, and is faster and more effective than all other treatments I have used. Also, as a sidenote, I have gone over 7 months without a UTI since I started to change my diet. Generally, I eat little to no meat or dairy, and lots of veggies, fruits, and whole grains. Though meat for me seems to be more of a culprit than dairy. If I eat meat more than 3 days in a row, I tend to get a UTI. It's crazy.
Cranberry

Very nice post. But let me suggest that cranberry concentrates may be a better option than 100% cranberry juice. One that you mentioned is the taste of the juice, which is bypassed by concentrates. The other one is the limit imposed by the volume of juice that has to be consumed, and the sugar load inherent in that volume of juice. Concentrates can give you more potency, and almost no sugar.
Thanks for the post. It's good info.
Enterococcus UTI Remedies

To Tina of Ontario - What you want is grapeFRUIT seed extract (not grapeseed extract - but read up about it first, to make sure you're buying the real thing). In addition to taking drops of it - and perhaps even more importantly - put (say) ten or twelve drops in a small bowl of water by the loo, and give yourself a wipe every time you go.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda

Hello, I am new to this site but I was just researching UTI and accidently came across this site, and wanted to offer some advice. There is a natural way to treat UTIs that is supported by evidence based research; it is call D-mannose. It is a sugar that binds to bacteria and is eliminated through the urine. It has been show to significantly reduce UTIs. It is safe enough to use daily and helps to prevent reoccurrence. Hope it helps.
Multiple Remedies

Most common UTI is caused by either waiting too long to pass urine or sexual intercourse and the main causal is e. coli. Please try the following bacteria-killer drink.
Brew a green tea (in a big mug), then add 2 slices of lemon (or squeeze half of it, alternatively use the Vitamin C powder - but don't overdose it), 2 tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon of Manuka honey (or any other if not present), 2 slices of garlic, ginger and some clove and cinnamon (effective against E.coli), cranberry extract if present (or drink the juice separately), if having - mix in half of paracetamol sachet (250-500mg, find one without aspartame). Drink slowly and repeat every few hours during the day.
In addition, please drink plenty of alkaline water. During the night, give your liver a bit rest by drinking alkaline water only (high in pH, 9-10). Eat fresh fruits, vegetables (with peels when possible), food (avoid cooked, which is lack of enzymes) with garlic, onions, spices (ginger, clove and cinnamon) and anything that works as antioxidants. You may monitor your health by urine strips (leukocytes nitrites and blood). If your UTI is advanced to painful testicles or hematospermia (blood in your semen), ejaculate often for relief.
For external treatment, dissolve few drops of tea tree oil in warm water and wash gently. If not present, washing with any commercial gel/shampoo with SLS (neurotoxin) would do the job as well (by killing the bacteria). You can get some sunshine (which will work as detox), if not possible, try infrared sauna for the deep detoxification (raising body temperature assists the body to kill bacteria, parasites, viruses and other infections). Also don't forget to think positively and proper rest and sleep is the key factor as well. If conditions get worse, please contact with the doctor.

D-Mannose powder works beautifully! I have had bladder infections since I was a child. In took-2 cranberry capsules per day for several years but eventually made my urine so acidic that I gave myself IC :/
Any way, d-Mannose is a type of sugar not absorbed by your body, it creates a barrier bw your bladder & urine preventing bacteria from sticking to the bladder wall. I have been using it for a year & have had great success! No bladder infections! I also avoid sugar. Also I found out that I'm gluten intolerant. Food allergies can manifest in the bladdeR & cause problems. Not all allergist can detect food allergies with a skin test so you might want to try a holistic doctor. Good luck.

Baking Soda
Posted by Paula (Monterey, Ca, Usa) on 03/19/2013
I too had numerous urinary tract infections and lots of antibiotics for them, before I learned to both avoid them in the first place and cure them early on.
To prevent them:
- I wear nothing but cotton undies (silk or other natural materials might work too, but absolutely no polyester/synthetics).
- Never wash lady parts with soap or other substances, only clean water.
To cure them when I feel one coming:
- Drink a tall glass of water, or two. Or three.
- Absolutely do not consume anything sugary. Sugar feeds the UTI and makes it much worse. So soda does not count as water, it is anti-water here.
- I mix a tablespoon of baking soda in a tall glass of water (12 oz?), just stir it with a spoon and drink as much as I can. It tastes so vile I have to force it down, but this coctail has not failed me once since I found it. I have nipped every UTI (which come rarely now anyway) in the bud with extra water and the baking soda drink, but more advanced cases may require repeated doses.

I tried your remedy of 1 tsp of this pink rock salt in water and it worked and then I forgot to post up my YEA until now! Thank You so much Earth Clinic- I was going to go to the Doctor the next morning because the pain was getting to bad to bear, and I don't do anti-biotics but last time I had a UTI I tried all the other remedies and they made it feel better for a few hours but just wouldn't make it go. Anyway after the salt I woke up and the pain was gone- there was still a funny feeling when I peed, but I knew it was getting better. As I knew that the salt had worked I took another tsp in water that morning as a precaution and to wipe it out- as anyone who has had a UTI knows- you will do anything to relieve the pain- but thank you this time it wasn't antibiotics!! I will use this remedy next time. It was magic- I no longer live in fear of a UTI!! Nicola
Alkaline Diet

Been having a terrible time with the UTI symptoms and same as everybody else doctors try one thing and then another. Finally found a good doctor who took a lab test for kidney, did not show anything major, just a slightly elevated creatinine, not considered anything to worry about. I give all the credit to the doctor for at least focusing on the cause of the problem. I read all about kidneys on my own, came across renal tubular acidosis (does not show a high BUN or creatinine) and the explanation and cure is very simple and it is highly treatable--just raise the pH to 7.5, but for awhile go on an 80%/20% alkaline to acid forming foods diet. After achieving proper balance maintain 60/40 alkalinity. Important thing, potassium citrate very important to work with calcium and to prevent kidney stones which can cause burning like uti. Only about a week and feeling much better. Hope this helps along with the other alkalizing remedies etc. people say are helping them.
