Here's what I do when I get a bladder infection:
Little to no sugar during treatment
Raw veggies/juice and a little fruit only
Unsweetened cranberry juice, sip throughout day
Every two to three hours, take:
one chopped clove garlic
one tsp coconut oil
2 Tbsp acv
If you are not used to lots of garlic, you might want to throw a gas-aid in there per instructions on the box because it can get pretty painful! Once I can wake up in the morning with no discomfort (usually day 2), I continue this regiment for another 24-48 hours to make sure there are no lingering bacteria.
Hope this helps!

I used to have bladder infections a few years ago but not anymore. I did several things, I started drinking more water because I noticed that if it was very hot and I didn't drink enough I would get one. I also started peeing and washing myself after intercourse, I do it every time now. And using lube..... When I did a kidney and bladder scan to see if I had any problem, which I didn't, the doctor told me to wash myself with a French soap called Savon de Marseille which I have been doing ever since. No idea what helped exactly, maybe several things? By the way, I eat normally, fish, meat, eggs, everything except milk which I don't like! I hope this advice helps you because bladder infections are awful! And the antibiotics are awful too! By the way, peeing at regular intervals helps too, don't keep the urine inside! The cranberry pills or juice never helped me but I do take quite a bit of Vitamin C.
Zinc
Posted by Gavin (Manganui, Northland, New Zealand) on 07/07/2011
With regards to bladders. Dont forget they need zinc, far more than any other area of the body, that includes the reproductive system as well.. You can take all the herbal wonders in the world but if the essential elements are not in the body, they will just be builders waiting for the cement to arrive.
Ted's Remedies
Posted by Bette With A Pebble (Nj, Usa) on 07/07/2011
Uva Ursi worked for me (Thank you Ted). I used up one two-ounce bottle of the liquid over the course of a day and a half by taking two teaspoons approximately every five hours (during normal waking hours) on an empty stomach. It does taste terrible. Also used Alka Seltzer original as needed for the pain; only needed two separate doses. Also used the sea salt as recommended by Ted.
For maintenance I now take a good probiotic, olive leaf, and lots of stuff that Ted recommends. Please, everyone, look back at the older posts, from Ted in particular, they are priceless when you are in pain.
Check out Ted's old post from 2005:
https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/bladder_infection.html
TED'S REMEDIES 03/23/2005: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "There are other herbal preparations that can be helped with UTI and they are taken usually 4 times a day:
1. Uva Ursi. Has antimicrobial and research has support its traditional use, usually 1-2 teaspoon of the herb.
2. Goldenseal Root. Also long known as a strong antibacterial agent to be used as tea or 1 teaspoon of dried herb in a cup of water.
3. Althea officianalis, used as cold infusion soaked in cold water and drink.
4. Galium aparine (cleavers) Has long history of use and taken with tea.
5. Zea Mays (Corn silk). Diuretic.
6. Buchu - Diuretic and antiseptic properties.
7. Equisetum arvense (Horsetail) - Diuretic, astringent and healing properties."

There is always good old cranberry juice for a UTI. It worked for me when no antibiotics did. You want pure cranberry juice and not the so called cranberry juice cocktails. I was prescribed this treatment as 3 cups per day of pure cranberry juice by a VA doctor after trying every antibiotic available and it worked for a chronic urinary tract infection when nothing else did. It cleared the infection in about one week for me....Oscar

Putting 1/2 cup sea salt in a bath of hot water to which you bathe for at least 20 minutes helps with a bladder infection.
Grapefruit Seed Extract

I find Nutribiotic Grapefruit Seed Extract (tablet form) to work on my UTI's. I also use Miracle II Neutralizer Gel to relieve the burning/itching. It will help in the vaginal area, but for maximum effectiveness, use some type of syringe or applicator to get it further up into the vagina. Make sure you wash the applicator well first.
These two work consistently for me.

(Drinking
enough water is a good thing. For me, enough water is 1/2 my weight in ounces.)
Responding to Ronald's post:
Or, from what I've learned from a iodine/iodide Yahoo group I'm a member of, the chlorine will displace the bromine, which will then displace iodine in the body, making folks deficient.
The halides -- fluoride->chloride->bromide->iodide -- lightest displacing the heaviest on the empirical table. I'm still trying to figure out though how taking iodine in larger doses (than recommended) would displace fluoride if displacement happens by weight.
So people ought to do more searching for info/facts before drinking chlorinated water. I'm not so sure chlorinated water is a good idea if it's the chlorinated tap water we're talking about.

What works like a charm for me is to drink water before bedtime, urinate before bedtime, then after intercourse urinate again and drink a half a glass of water. I haven't had a UTI develop in quite a long time.
Also, if I feel the 'twinge' of a UTI despite my bedtime routine, I will either use a cotton ball w/diluted ACV to cleanse, or spritz once with ionic colloidal silver -- this discourages any bacterial to travel. I haven't seen my MD about UTIs in over 3 years; I used to get them regularly.

Chlorine is not god to drink. For starters it depletes the body of Vitamin E. If you leave water sit for about 15 minutes the chlorine vanishes from it.
Google the dangers of drinking Chlorine.

Drinking a lot of water is good for UTI's. It washes away germs. I wonder if drinking Chlorinated water is the best way to go. Chlorine is a real germ killer. It is so powerful that it can kill fish. So if you drink chlorinated water and it goes out the urinary track, then the germs get it good.

I had a TERRIBLE bladder infection that, of course, reared its ugly head in the middle of the night while my doctor was closed. So I went searching online for help. I came across your site & it was filled with amazing information! I knew only of cranberry juice for UTI's. There were so many suggestions that I wasnt sure which to try... So I tried them all! I created a cocktail out of cranberry juice, baking soda, vitamin C, sea salt and excedrin. I felt relief within 15 minutes and the infection was gone after only 3 days... With no antibiotics. I will be visiting your site often s I have 3 children who are constantly picking up bugs from school & such. Thank you so much for creating this life, time, money and sanity saving site!! Sincerely, Chris

I suffer from frequent urinary tract irritations and do not want to alway go on antibiotics. I have tried almost every remedy out there from nettle tea to probiotics. For the past two episodes, I found a recommendation on the internet to drink a teaspoon of baking soda diluted in water and miraculously the burning goes away almost instantly. It might have something to do with the acid/alkaline in my system overreacting and the baking soda acts as a soother?

Thank you, thank you, thank you Ted!! I have been suffering for a week and a half with a TERRIBLE bladder infection. I have tried every remedy in the book, not wanting to resort to antibiotics. I tried D - Mannose, Uva Ursi, Baking Soda, ACV - NOTHING would touch this! As a last resort yesterday, I decided to try the Sea Salt Remedy. I did as Ted instructed and took 1 tsp. of sea salt disolved in a glass of water, then I purchased some unsweetened cranberry concentrate (100% juice) from the health food store. I drank about 3 or 4 glasses during the day, of the juice mixed with water, according to the directions on the bottle, and by yesterday evening everything was SO much better. I woke up last night and went to the restroom and for the first time in nearly two weeks - NO PAIN! I have just drank water since last night before bedtime, and each time I have gone to the restroom STILL NO PAIN. Everything feels pretty much normal now. No bacterial odor in the urine, no burning upon urination, no painful bladder cramps or urgency - NOTHING! I really believe that this infection is GONE! Ted you are a lifesaver. Thank you for this WONDERFUL REMEDY!!

This is the first time I have ever had a urinary tract infection. I hope it's the last time. I took the ACV but it still hurt. Then I read Ted's sea salt remedy and tried that. Wow! The pain is entirely gone! In just minutes. So far it has stayed away, just a hour or two later. I'm going to continue with cranberry juice etc. Thank you Ted! Alice

Also I forgot... The drinks that keep your kidneys open and runnin Is Grapefruit Juice(fresh preffered)and Cranberry juice that has nothing in it but straight juice... Mixed together it is a wonderful drink for any diabetic... Now you as a diabetic need Chromium... This is the diabetics FRIEND.... It will keep your bloodsugar in check... It may take a month to work but you will see it in your blood checks with your meter... Gluco sure is a brand name, check with a good health food store that sells suppliments... Ok... ? God Speed

Any time you use anytype of antibiotic medicine... You must put acidolphulus back in your system... I was on extream antibiotics for two months as an infection kept setting in on my left foot ( a bone piece was causing havoc in my toe, till it finally came out and I have diabetes) now I am ok except I felt really bad, every joint ached for weeks... I didnt know what to do, talked to a friend and he said get acidolpholus (sp?) and overnight it was so much better I was up and going to do all I had missed days before...!!!
Uva Ursi

Francisca, My mistake! Thanks for noticing so I can correct it. I meant to say 18 to 20 grams of vitamin C, not milligrams. Actually I've taken 6-9 or more grams a day for years. The only side effect I've noticed is that I look 15-20 years younger than I am. I can handle that kind of side effect just fine.

18 mg to 20 mg a day of Vit. C is very little, are you sure this is the right amount Linus Pauling advised? I am waiting for one of his books so I have no idea..... But the advised amount is 60 mg which is also very little, even if you are healthy!

I have also used Uva Ursi in the past for Candida. It can affect the liver so be sure to get plenty of Vit C as well. By plenty I mean a lot. I normally take at least 6000 mg of Vit C divided into at least 2 doses. Start little w/the Vit C and work your way up to larger doses. Dr Linus Pauling recommeded 18 to 20 mg a day just for health maintainance. You will definitely get diahrrea if you try to take large amounts of Vit C if you aren't used to that large a dose.

I have not seen the herb Uva Ursi mentioned to help clear women's bladder infections. Uva Ursi leaf (an herbal dietary supplement) is effective with stubborn lower urinary tract infections and kidney (pyelonephritis) infections. Uva Ursi has antimicrobial activity. Uva Ursi contains a glycoside called arbutin, which has an antiseptic effect on the membranes of the urinary tract. As a natural diuretic this herb drains excess water from cells and promotes an antiseptic effect on the kidneys.
It is best to take Uva Ursi leaf as directed on the bottle, with a large glass of water and the juice of half a lemon, lime or baking soad. Fresh lemon juice has alkalizing and anti-bacterial properties. Bacteria can not live an an alkaline environment. Uva Ursi and a cranberry supplement will work in synergy to clear the infection. Frankincense

UTI occurence is very periodic for me, I get it almost every month just before my period and sometimes, just because I ate something sweet. I've read about the coconut oil and ACV and am waiting for it to be delivered when I suffered from another attack.
As you know your mind gets fogged, you are in a constant dull pain, and you SIMPLY CANNOT GET TO SLEEP. There was certainly some despair.
I popped a garlic pill, vitamin C, drank water..... Nothing.
In desperation, I recalled watching the TV with this really old man talking about steaming a mixture of myrh, frankincense and some other ingredient that I can't remember, to subside inflammation.
Since I was travelling and have about 4 oils with me, I decided to go with my frankincense.
I dropped 2 drops onto a panty liner and wore it to bed.
Thankfully I fell asleep quickly and when I woke up in the morning, the pain that I usually experience EVERY MORNING when I visit the toilet, IS GONE.
I am in awe. For days my mornings had been associated with visits to the toilet and weird smelling pee. I cannot describe how troubling it had been and am truly happy I found some sort of a remedy.
TRY IT.
