I just want to THANK ALL THE POSTERS on this board. I planned to have my fibroids removed this summer as I have had enough of taking pain medication for many years. For the last couple of years, the pain felt like I was in labor whenever i had my period not to mention the "flooding, clots and bloating stomach". I learned about this site a couple of months ago and started taking the recommended 2tbsp ACV with 1/4 tsp baking soda mixed with 1/2 cup of warm water then followed by 1tsp of BSM then a whole glass of warm water. I took this in the morning and evening. My period in March was much better than when i used to have my period before I had fibroids. It was "normal", no bloating, little clots and I did not even know it came until i went to the bathroom. I used to get pains on my lower back and legs a couple of days before it started. I did not have to take pain medication at all. I waited for my next period before writing my comments and appreciation on this board for validation. The next period felt even better. I lost 8lbs for the last couple of months too. I hope the ACV with baking soda the BSM have shrunk my fibroids. I'll find out after my next OBGYN appointment.
Again THANK YOU everyone for sharing your experience/s and comments..

Been 4 months since I've tried qi gong (on and off basis due to hectic work schedule). I find it is helpful in minimizing monthly pain. Had I been more consistent, I believe the improvement would be very much more better. As long as there is very little discomfort each month, I do not care very much if the fibroid is still there. The bulge in my tummy is not really apparent.

Hello Diana from Boston,
First a question or two. Is your thyroid just sluggish and still functioning or totally wiped out? If it is still functioning then it needs some iodine to function properly, so why did your doctor tell you to avoid it? Hopefully you also picked up on the use of SSKI to liquify secretions in the respiratory tract so you can get them out, which means that it should help with asthma and COPD. Another thing to consider if it is just sluggish is that a deficiency of B complex vitamins causes a sluggish thyroid, so I suggest that you get a good stress tab (B complex with vitamins C & E) and take 1 at mealtime and bedtime although the container will tell you to take 1 a day.
Another question, while you were up to armpit in the goop in the service, were you taking SSKI or anything to protect your thyroid from radiation? If not, it is unlikely that the radiation isn't part of the cause of your problems.
I have also read that those with asthma are low on selenium. Wild cherry bark tea is supposed to be good for asthma. You might also want to read Bill's inhalation method of H202 for the asthma and COPD. I am all for trying what is likely to help, and not likely to harm with unwanted side effects. I also recall reading in EC about someone curing their COPD with a home remedy which included mullein, so you might want to look this up. Mullein is a very easy to identify wild plant, but since it mentioned using the seed pods, you won't likely find seed pods until this coming fall. Some herbal shops might sell them though.
Could you share your source for the recommendation that people with type A blood should not take ACV? I think I am type A and I have been taking ACV/honey for a long time (at least 40-50 years) and I am still alive and kicking.
I believe that if you reread Dr. Wright's article on SSKI, you will find that he mentions cystic breast disease. But you would have to follow what your thyroid is doing because you would be taking it for several months and it can suppress the thyroid. I figure that if it gets rid of fibroids in the breast, it should also get rid of fibroids in the uterus or elsewhere.
My breasts were nothing much but lumps for years. I can't say for sure that vitamin E is what got rid of them, but vitamin E is what I had added to my daily vitamins, and several months later I was surprised to find that all my lumps were gone and replaced with normal breast tissue, so if you aren't taking vitamin E, start taking at least 400 IU/day and see what happens.
To find out how much perchlorate sulfates might have done to you, just type it into a search window and if you find that it has been a big part of your problem, print it out and take it with you to visit the VA Hospital doctors and put in a claim for the damage done to your health by the exposure. Hope you find some of this useful and hope your health improves.

To Joyce from Joelton
I found the article you spoke of: Tohoma Clinic Dr Wright- here is the link for the future, I had to google for it because all that came up from this site when I searched were your posts telling people to look it up.. here is the link for others for future reference- you should just post the link instead: http://www.tahomaclinic.com/iodide.shtml
So I have some questions about the use of SSKI or Potasium Iodide : First, I am hypothyroid and spoke with my doctor just today and she said to avoid Iodine. So I am reluctant to take this product.
Second, I also had my Pelvic Ultrasound today and they found 2 Fibroids in the uterus just slightly larger than golf balls. One on each side.
With this help with my fribroids? Did not see that mentioned on the site. Also, I am type A blood, noticed that people with Type A blood are not suppose to take Apple cider Vinegar. Although at this point its either surgery or the ACV or some other remedy.
I did notice and found it interesting that the SSKI is also used to treat people that have been affective by Nuclear Fallout. I was in the service and I was the Nuclear Biological and Chemical Weapons Officer and was exposed to radiation and Perchlorate sulfates alot (dry cleaning fluids) we used them to clean parts of things.. weapons, helicopter parts etc.) I remember having my arm - pit deep in barrels of the stuff on many occassions. As well as a nuclear densomitor which I had to use quite often. Holding it by the spoke that you put in the soil. Was not aware at the time it emmited large amounts of radiation.
Do you think these things could have caused all my ILLS? Hypothyroidism, Copd, asthma, fibroids, diverticulosis and diverticulitis? Seems like all these things are listed on the tahoma site. If I could find a common cause then maybe I could find a common cure? Could use your input.
Thank you for posting to me - I appreciate your feedback and assistance from everyone.

Hello Diana from Boston,
Type "potassium iodide" in search window and click on go or search. When references appear pull up one from Tahoma Clinic. I suggest you print this one out for future reference because SSKI is useful for much more than fibroids. This article is written by alternative doctor Jonathan Wright and is very useful and everything I have used SSKI for has been as he said in this article. One other thing he didn't mention is that 2 drops per day helps keep our stomach producing HCl acid for digesting our food.

I just found this site today. I am so grateful. I have read thru most everyones comments on this topic and wanted to thank everyone for sharing their experience.
My situation is a little different. I have many symptoms and not certain if they are all connected or from several medical problems.
Started some years ago with Thyroid/hashimoto's disease - first illness - taking thyroid hormones since they iradiated it. Next, hair loss - got scalp injections from dematology for this 5% cortizone shots. Long treatments but it worked. Since then I have developed these fibroids and excema. Are all these things connected? Also vision has gotten bad, now wear glasses. Also, Acid Reflux. Never took the script they gave me, but I did switch my diet some what.. after reading here I need to do more!
On the topic of fibroids, I too was diagnosed a couple of years ago and told to be sent into early menopause. I said no. I dont have heavy bleeding like alot of people here are saying, but I have excruciating pain! Feels like razors or boulders going thru my falopian tubes on the left side. Every month. Plus, I get low grade fevers and feel like I have the flu every month. Typical flu symptoms- headache, fever, naseau, vomiting. Litterally bed bound monthly for two weeks with these flu symptoms. I know there is no way I can have the flu every month and went back to the doctors. They paid no attention to my complaints about the flu as of yet. I have had a stomach CT scan and the results where clear, more fibroids - they are in my tubes, in my uterus and on my ovaries. They scheduled an Upper GI and a pelvic ultrasound. I am at my wits end with the pain!! Today thanks to this site I started the 2 tbspn of Apple cider vinegar mixed with 1/4 Tspn baking soda..and will take it twice or three times a day.
I have gained 40 lbs in the past year, yes, all tummy. Thinking that maybe its all from fribroids? Or alot of it anyway. Two years ago I didnt have uterine fibroids. Im hoping it helps and will let you know as things progress. Thanks to everyone for your openness and willing to share your experiences.

I met a woman about 4 months ago. She was having severe vaginal discomfort from itching and had 9cm fibroids. After 3 months of treatment including, bathing in lavender soaps, using olive oil for skin and hair moisturizer, eating royal jelly and using it topically, drinking apple cider vinegar, also using olive leaf extract and lemon balm extract amongst other herbs she was able to receive some relief, but it drove her to eventually get a biopsy, get a prescription for an anti-fungal (diflucan), after further investigation she found out that her tumor had shrank to 5cm and the itching had stopped. Most of the herbs mentioned were taken in the morning and evening, by the products recommended doses. Apple cider vinegar was administered, by adding it to salad dressings, baths and from time to time an oz in water. She also used two bottles of floressence during this time and drank roobis tea and started to increase her intake of fruit and veggies(especially the combo of broccoli and tomato, which has been getting better results on prostate tumors, than rounds of chemo. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/6163233/Broccoli-and-tomato-ketchup-could-prevent-prostate-cancer.html
Mostly, i've just encouraged to keep fluids up, and keep up herbs and foods that work on thyroid function(royal jelly, lemon balm, grapefruit and grapefruit seed extract) Keep up with probiotics, whether be pills or greek yogurt, buttermilk, etc. But to keep up light exercise and mostly, pray and belive. Godspeed ladies!

I am following my mothers "wise women syndrome" (menopause) history and don't want to any more. Period stopped for 9 months, started for 2 weeks, stopped for 7 months and is still continuing after 5 weeks. Clots, heavy flow, embarassing moments the lot. I am of average height, weight and exercise x5 days a week, for at least 1hr 30mins each time, eat wholesome (no processed foods) mainly fruit, vegies and meat.
I wish to cease the blood flow and move onto my "wise women syndrome" sooner. I am unable to take AVC because of my very low blood pressure (I have tried and got incredible dizzy bordering on fainting.
I am considering taking Black Strap Molasses ... any advice on how much, how often and what else is out there that could help. Cheers in advance.

The Blackstrap Molasses and Cider did slow/stop the bleeding for a day or two, but it would return there after. I tried Saw Palmetto 2 times/day followed by the BSM and Cider and the bleeding has stopped, but reoccurred. The latter method is causing my cycle to become more "normal". The fibroid has shrunk, and the 'jury is still out' as a cure. So far, I'm more satisfied.

Hello Everyone!
I've been reading the posts on this site with great interest...so many of us have similar stories! So, I'd like to share mine with you...
I'm a (very young!) 45 year old black woman. Up until last year I had normal periods, heavy flow & cramps on the 1st day, gradually tailing off and coming to an end on day 4. However, last year I was diagnosed with one submucous fibroid (which was the size of a 3 1/2 month foetus) and several small intramural fibroids. My periods went up to 8 days (heavy for at least 5 days and very bad cramps for the first 2-3 days). I was getting through a 12-pack of pads per day for Days 1-3. Plus, regardless of my exercise regime, my once-flat tummy now resembles a woman who is 3-4 months pregnant. Not fun at all.
I visited 2 gynaecologists who gave varying drastic "suggestions" for treatment, including "microwaving the lining" of my uterus and a hysterectomy: I'm 45 with no kids, so I suppose that's why the male doctor felt these were options for me. I soon set him straight and put a flea in his ear in the process!!
My dear friend Janice sent me the link to this site, and I decided to try the apple cider vinegar and blackstrap molasses. A few days after my last period, I started with 30 mls ACV (2-3 large tablespoons), 1 tablespoon BSM, the juice of 1/2 a lime, mixed with 150 ml of hot water, twice a day.
Almost immediately, I started getting period cramps. Sometimes quite severe! I used a positive mental attitude to think that the cramps were related to my shrinking fibroids (lol!)
My period started on Saturday 3oth Jan. On the 1st day the flow was lighter than it has been in ages! On the 2nd day the flow was quite heavy and the cramps were awful. I went to a party, got home in the late hours of the morning and was tired all day Sunday, so I don't know if that was a contributing factor. However, in the past I wouldn't have felt comfortable leaving my house, let alone attending an all-night party!
BUT on Monday (Day 3) the flow had reduced to a trickle! Today is Day 4 and I'm only on panty-liners. I won't know if the fibroids have actually shrunk until my next check-up (next month), but I'm just glad it seems to have had a positive effect on my period!
This stuff has worked for me in a short space of time. My stomach has gone down a LITTLE. I just wish I'd known about this remedy before. I shall keep taking it and will let you know if the fibroids have shrunk.
Hope it works for everyone as well as it worked for me!
Peace & Blessings

Hi this is Carol from South Florida (formerly of Tampa) again with another update....Well the BSM does seem to help very much with the cramps. However I continue to bleed even more every month with even more blood clots then before. My large uterine fibroid last measured at 9.4 cm back in October. On the positive news, I found two surgeons in Florida who have removed fibroids much larger than mine while leaving the uterus intact (not a hysterectomy, you can keep your uterus and keep your reproductive abilities). I have in-office consults with both of them next week. One has taken out ones as large as 17cm and the other has taken ones out as large as 15cm with the laparascopic treatment--and WITHOUT removing the uterus. So anyway, with mixed emotions, this is the direction I am heading. I have tried so many things with the natural approach but I could not find the right thing and with my periods lasting now for 18-20 days of bleeding every month and a huge protruding stomach that looks like a bowling ball, it is just too out of control....Wish me luck and prayer!

ACV & Black Strap Molasses for Fibroids
I discovered last year that I had a fibroid a little smaller then a golf ball, which explained the heavy bleeding and large clots. I tried an herbal remedy for about 4 months, which seemed to be help up until last month. I an alternative that I could try, since it seemed that the pills I were taking were no longer helpful, and found this site. I read the other comments, and figured that I had nothing to lose. So I ran to Wholefoods and got the ACV(undistilled)and the Molasses and started immediately. I tried 2 tablespoons of ACV, and 1 of the Molasses and a little warm water(about quarter cup). At first I had to get past the taste, but found that it was more like drinking prune juice...really not that bad. I figured that I would do it twice a day, In the morning and before dinner. Well I have to report that my period this month was good! Cramps weren't an issue, barely any clots and only one day of somewhat heavy flow and I didn't have to run to the bathroom to change...I was pleasantly surprised. I'm going to continue this and see if it continues. Now if anyone has a remedy to get rid of the spotting before and after the normal flow, I'm all ears!!!

Acv and Baking soda for fibroids
I read about people on your site using ACV and Baking soda for excessive bleeding associated with fibroids. I had excessive bleeding for three months and found out I had 2 large fibroids in my uterus. I tried your formula and the bleeding persisted. The second week I had forgotten to use the acv/baking soda and by the end of the day my bleeding had slowed us, alot! The next day I used the formula again and once again started bleeding, the next day and there on I stopped using the formula and the bleeding slowed up considerably. So I immediately stopped using the acv/baking soda. It may help alot of people but not in my case. But I felt it was worth a try.

I just left my doctors office, I was suppose to go back to work but I can't after hearing that I have been unable to get pregnant because I have 6 fibroid tumors inside my uterus. 3 of which are 4-6cm each. My doctor wants to schedule me for surgery in 4 weeks. We are waiting 4 weeks because it wants me to take a drug that will place me in a clinical menopause. This will effectively stop the estrogen production in my body hopefully shrinking the tumors so it will be safer to operate.
I want to have another child and according to the doctor surgery is my best option. I am so glad I found this website. I am on my way to Whole Foods to pick up the ACV and BSM and I am prepared to do whatever it takes. I am scheduled for another ultrasound prior to surgery to see the status the fibroids and I will report my progress.
Stay tuned! Thank you all for your support.

Dear Carla,
I think you may be on to something important about red meat! I normally don't have painful breasts but over the holidays but I ate red meat at a friend's house for dinner (I never eat red meat, but it's what they served) and the next morning I woke up with very sore breast and sharp shooting pains near my armpits. Infected lymph nodes? I couldn't figured out what could have triggered it until your post.
Please keep us informed of your progress. I hope the remedies you are trying help you.

I was just confirm as having fibroid at age 39, and hoping to have a child. I am praying that that is still possible. What I have found out is that my period discomfort comes based on the diet I have before the cycle begins.
I only eat fish for about three years and my breast and period was doing fine. Now I am eating red meat and drinking milk and my breast is tender, my back ache and my belly tender.
I realized that when I drink the beetroot, carrot and ginger, I do quite well and dont have to take any pain killer. I remember 2 doc telling me to do what works well with my body and now I tend to agree and will defineately taking that root.
I just lean about the molasses and apple cider vineager and will be trying these, both where alreading in my kitchen cabinet. I have tried the combination last night......I slept well. A problem I was having.
I am thankful I live on a tropical island, so fresh fruits and vegetable are easily assessible. I am now going back to nature. I have a vegetable garden that I will certainly be using. I will keep you ladies posted on my progress. Let reclaim our health for 2010.

I was admitted into the hospital in Oct. for excessive bleeding after fainting in the shower. I found this website the following week. I began drinking a shot-glass of apple cidar vinegar daily immediately. I also ordered the blackstrap molasses tablets, which I've been taking daily for 2 months. So I would say I started seeing positive results during my Nov. and Dec. menstral cycles. I just received my shipment of ACV tablets. Good Luck!

Hi,
Just wanted to update my previous posts. Brief history: I have had a growing fibroid for at least 3 years and in the fall of '09 it got much bigger (9.4 cm) and symptoms of long menstrual cycle and huge blood clots started. Anyway, for the past 2 cycles I have taken unsulphured BSM and my cramps are much, much less. However, length of period and clotting has not improved, bloating during period is tremendous, and I don't have the sense that the fibroid has shrunk at all. I have not been very consistent with the ACV. I tried Nattokinase and Indole 3 Carbinol but they producted severe diarrhea, so I had to stop. I am happy that at leat the BSM helps with cramps and energy so that I can now function during my period. However, as for shrinkage, I don't know what to do. Many of the women who have posted here did not discuss how much their fibroids shrank but emphasized symptom relief instead. I would be most curious to know if anyone had fiboid shrinkage from the BSM and ACV. Thanks

Fibroids: Tampons & Pads
Regarding Tampons and Pads: Ladies all tampons and pads are bleached with CHLORINE unless you are buying organic/non-bleached natural cotton items.
Chlorine is very toxic it creates a by-product Dioxin which is harmful and linked to cancer and tumors (google it). You can buy cotton items at any natural health food store or online (they are expensive but worth it). I would recommend buying these especially for women with Fibroids.

I started taking ACV about a month ago for fibroid relief and I noticed a significant, positive change in my heavy flow and cramping. For the last year or so, I would have to remain inside and well medicated for the first few days of my cycle. I even had a recent, 3-day hospital stay in October for severe anemia, due to blood loss and received a blood transfusion during that time. It was a scary ordeal. In November, after trying ACV, I noticed my cramping had subsided and my flow was lighter. The first two days were still a little heavy, but I could visit my family during Thanksgiving and enjoy the holidays without any "accidents". I'm still taking it and can't wait to see how this month goes!

I was just reading some of the other postings, especially the one for Gee. Im not a doctor but I do recommend getting 2nd and 3rd opinions especially before undergoing a hysterectomy or partial hysterectomy. These are all very personal decisions that we have to make and that even our closest loved ones cannot make for us. No-one should feel coerced into doing anything. Im very grateful that the ACV and black molasses (1-2x a day) have been working for me for the pain and symptoms. While everyone's body is different, and while I hope the remedy works in shrinking the fibroid, I also should share that I recently learned of laproscopy which is a less invasive way of removing fibroids. This may be in some cases be an alternative method of surgery instead of a hysterectomy for those of us that hope to have children one day. I spoke with my doctor here in NYC who is supposed to be the top doctor for this and feel much more at ease as he was my second opinion and the first doctor was very insensitive and didnt mention this option. While I wish they were, natural remedies are not always an alternative to surgery but they can certainly help relieve a lot of unnecessary pain and help the healing process if one does opt for surgery. Thank you all for posting on this site and for supporting each other.

Have any fibroids shrunk with ACV and Black molasses?
I have been using 1 tb of acv and 1 tb of black unsulphured molasses for the past 3 weeks after I was diagnosed with large fibroids. While I did not have too much pain initially, the remedy helped ease the pain that started almost immediately after I was diagnosed. Also, my period was much lighter and much less clotted than in prior months.I am scheduled for surgery in March and am wondering if for anyone at all the fibroids have shrunk???

DON'T be depressed!! DON'T have the hysterectomy surgery, AND I wouldn't go back to that ob/gyn either, myself (up to you though...).
Progesterone cream will sometimes shrink fibroids, and I just read an research report somewhere that indicated that concentrated tomato products, such as tomato powder and tomato paste may be helpful for such things.

No, I am no expert, but I have spent a lot of hours and years studying alternatives in many aspects from birthing, schooling, natural remedies, herbal and homeopathic remedies so, I figure if I can help someone else out there with what I have learned, I will do that. Knowledge is a powerful tool.
And yes, there are alternatives to having your own children such as adopting or surrogate mothers, etc., but that was not what I got from your post. Sorry if I misread what you were sad about. In naming some actions you could take, I was not trying to be forceful but just giving you a few suggestions you could pursue.
I also have seen my acupuncturist turn things around for women who were diagnosed by Western drs. that they would not be able to conceive. Of course, these are all just suggestions. In the end we all have our own right to choice. Peace, Lisa

Gee, Praying's good but do something actively as well about it. Like take charge of your health. Start juicing, check your diet, get maca (read about it in my past posts or research it online). ACV and Evening Primrose oil are not going to cut the mustard in this situation. Doing something actively to help yourself will alleviate depression too. Don't just accept the dr.'s diagnosis as final and let them cut part of you out because then you absolutely won't have children or have the chance. First, try alternative healing before you go that route. Lisa

I have been diagnosed with the 5 inch fibroids and blocked fallopian tubes too. I am very depressed about. I am scheduled to go back to the Dr. on December 22. The Dr. want to a partial Hysterectomy. I don't want to have it done. I have not been able to have any children. My husband and I. I have started taken the ACV this week. I feel better and I am not in as much pain. One my friends told me to take evening primrose oil from the health food store. I am praying the Fibriods will go away without having the surgery.

Like many others here, I just came back from the doctor's office and my surgery options were explained to me. My fibroid doubled in 2 years and is now 9cm. I am anemic and started having periods like a 14 year old teenager with a lot of clotting....also have lower back pain. I am 43 and the doctor said that considering menopause is still far away, there would be a good chance for the fibroid to keep growing and cause further complications.
He also pointed out by the way, that menopause only shrinks fibroids by about 30-50% !!!
I would like to avoid surgery at all cost of course, and went online to research natural options. So here I am. Just downed my first Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with a bit of juice, and love the taste of Blackstrap Molasses anyways so no problem there taking it straight up.
I have a question however regarding the anemia. I was prescribed an iron supplement and am now wondering if I should still take it considering the BSM is quite high in iron. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS?

I have just come from the Doctor's office today. I was informed that I have 1 fibroid that is 8cm large and another that is 5cm, as well as, muliple smaller ones. I am 48 years old and I do not want to give up my uterus. I was wondering how the apple cider vinegar has been working for you. Everything that I am reading so far appears doable, but does it work?? Please get back to me...

Hi. This is Carol from Weston. I posted a few weeks ago. In a nutshell, I have a large (grapefruit size) uterine fibroid with heavy prolonged bleeding (lasts about 2 weeks each month), terrible cramps for the first week, and tremendous blood clotting with the periods.... About 3 weeks ago, I started taking BSM, ACV and a variety of enzymes to help shrink the fibroid and reduct these symptoms. I am currently having my monthly period. Last month (before the protocol) I bled for 15 days. This month I am on Day 14 and still bleeding. The level of bleeding and clotting and length of period has not improved so far, as compared to the previous menstrual cycle. The bloating was just as bad as well--even worse maybe. However, on the positive side, my cramps were much lighter, I did not have to take nearly as much pain killers for cramps, and my breasts were not tender this cycle. So anyway, I am going to continue this protocol for another month or two and if I haven't had some more notable symptom improvement, I think I am going to go for the myomectomy or at least another measurement of the fibroid to see if the size has changed.

Hello, to tell you a little history of my health issue. Over 3 years ago I experienced my menstrual cycle lasting longer and longer and I checked with a couple Ob-Gyn's who really did not listen to me. While moving to another state, the first visit to a general practitioner she asked me have you had an ultra-sound done. I went to get an ultra sound done and they found a cyst on my ovary and I had fibroids. Great.... well at least I know what it was that was causing this additional bleeding. I went to see an Ob'Gyn and she told me to go on the pill to reduce the cyst that started to work but the bleeding from the fibroids got worst to the point I bled for 3 months straight without stopping and the doctor did not seem concerned or knew what was going on. I was desparate and tried looking for home remedies and found this website. Never heard of apple cider vinegar until I found this site and I tried Ted's remedy. That is ACV with baking soda and the bleeding ceased in less that one day. I take six to eight ounces of water with two tablespoon of ACV organic and quarter teaspoon of baking soda twice a day and it works for me. Thank you all for posting your experiences on this website. It is greatly helped me. I have my second opinion coming up and will give an update if the cyst and fibroids have shrunk. I will also try the blackstrap molasses for my anemia. God Bless You!

Fibroid Tumor Remedy - Tumeric
I found out about 4 or 5 years ago that I have fibroids when having an ultrasound for something else, and over the course of that time my periods have gotten heavier, started having clots and experiencing cramps which I rarely ever got. During the heavy times I would go through a Ultra Plus tampon in 1 hour.
I don't remember if it was on EC or another site, but I read that the heavy bleeding was caused by inflammation (either the Uterus being inflammed or the fibroids)during periods and it mentioned taking Tumeric.
Someone on EC recommended Natto, and I tried that for a while, but didn't notice reduced bleeding. Then I added a sprinkling of Turmeric on the Natto. The bleeding was reduced some, but I thought it was the Natto. I ran out of Tumeric & continued with the Natto and since I didn't seem to be getting great results, and the Natto is 'Natso good' I stopped.
It wasn't until I read the article about inflammation & Tumeric, that I put 2 and 2 together & realized that what had reduced the bleeding when I was eating the Natto with Tumeric sprinkled on it was actually the Tumeric doing it's thing. To be sure, over the last couple of months I've been taking 1 large teaspoon of Tumeric in juice, at least twice a day when my period starts, & it's nothing short of a miracle. Now I can actually get 3 - 4 hours of solid sleep without having to worry about an accident. Before on heavy nights, I would sit up, so I wouldn't fall all the way to sleep, so I could get up every hour or hour and a half to change. During that time if I could get a solid 2 hours of sleep I was estatic.
Other remedies I tried was the Unsulphered Black Strap Molasses. It reduced the clots by around 90% and the iron definitely gave me an extra boost, as the heavy bleeding caused me to be anemic, but it did not reduce the bleeding.
I hope some of you ladies try this and get the results I have. Although it's not a cure, it helps make the fibroid situation bearable. Lastly, the Tumeric is bitter, but well worth the results.

I suffered from VERY heavy bleeding and was diagnosed with uterine polyps and possible fibroids. First was told hysterectomy; I didn't want this so I was prescribed a hormone; made the cramping, etc., WORSE; a year later I had more tests - same problem, heavy bleeding & cramping - the tests (such as saline ultrasound) were so UNCOMFORTABLE and no relief, still recommended surgery which I really didn't feel comfortable about. I searched "natural remedies for fibroids, heavy bleeding, etc." and found this site. Tried ACV and black strap molasses first (1 dose of the molasses-could NOT handle that!); then tried the ACV with baking soda (2 TBSP natural ACV from health food store and 1/2 to 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 8 oz water once daily has worked for me). I started this in August; it is now November and I feel SO MUCH BETTER! It is unbelievable - very little bleeding at regular cycle time - little to no cramping; and I was in misery before-periods lasted for weeks and would only stop for a few days and then start again. I no longer have that problem-haven't since I started the ACV & baking soda in August. It WORKS!

Hi Carol - I too have fibroids and cysts, along with the horrible bleeding and cramping. The acv works miracles for heavy bleeding. When I have my period I drink it all day long.
One thing to research - look up "DIM" (it stands for a very long word that I can't type) on the internet...(go to a reseach site, not a site trying to sell you DIM!) DIM is amazing. I have been taking one capsule every night for over 6 months now - and will not go without it again. DIM converts bad estrogens (there are three types) into good estrogens. Too hard for me to explain - but well worth learning about if you have the time to search it!
Best to you - hang in there!
EC: DIM is an acronym for 3,3'-Diindolylmethane
"3,3'-Diindolylmethane or DIM is an anticarcinogen compound derived from the digestion of indole-3-carbinol, found in Brassica vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower.[citation needed] The reputation of Brassica vegetables as medicinal plants rests in part on the activities of diindolylmethane."

Hi. This is Carol. I posted just recently on 11/02/09 about my situation. To sum up, I have a huge uterine fibroid (9.4 cm in diameter, large grapefruit) and ever increasing terrible premenstrual and menstrual cycles with long periods, blood clotting, cramping, and very sore breasts--all of which make my life very difficult for that time of the month every month..... Well, although it is early in my protocol/changes and I have not done everything I plan to do (only things so far I have done are BSM, ACV, and Maca daily), I want to report the following improvements already: My period in the past years has alway been preceded by very sore/tender/heavy breasts lasting for anywhere from 3-8 days before my period starts. However, this month, my period started today and my breasts are not and have not been the least bit sore/heavy/or tender. They feel perfectly normal. That alone is great. Also, my period started a few hours ago. Usually I would have cramping for several hours before the period started, but this time I just got some very light cramping after the period started....So anyway, I am already starting to see some improvements, which I correlate with the Unsulphured Black Strap Molasses and the Apple Cider--and possibly the Maca (herb to balance hormones)--as those are the only changes I have made so far. Well anyway, I will post again with an update as this hopefully continues to work. My overall plan is to deal with symptom control with BSM and ACV, but to also aid in shrinking the fibroid use enzymes and Nattokinase, while to balance hormones use Indole-3Carbinol and Maca. Thanks for this great site that has given me hope!

Fibroids: I am 52 years old. I am on Zoladex (generic name Goserelin) to help breast cancer and it helped shrink the 6 cm fibroid in my uterus. However, it has flared up again despite the strong medication. I believe it is because I recently started dairy products after abstaining for a year because of press reports about a link with breast cancer. I have also been using natural progesterone cream which in my case is not balancing estrogen as it is zero in my blood analysis BECAUSE THE DRUG lowered it to zero. I suspect the cream may have also fed the benign egg because I have used it together with this drug without specialist advice. It may have fed the fibroid. I tried ACV and it immediately helped.

I have suffered from fibroids for many, many years. My monthy periods were debilitating to say the least. The only thing that worked for me was taking Naproxen and that killed my stomach for the next few days. I had been reading about the black strap molasses and was willing to give it a try. I am so glad I did! The first month I only took it when my menstruation started and felt my cramps had subsided somewhat but the second month I decided to take it a few days before my mentruation and what a difference it made. I feel like a totally different person. I still had to take 1 Naproxen but not 4 or more like before and I probably could have gone without it all together...I will try that next month. As far as the way I consume the molasses, I just add 1 tablespoon to one of my daily green tea servings.

Hi all. I have a large uterine fibroid, for which the longest diameter is 9.4cm--in other words the size of a large grapefruit. They symptoms are awful--periods lasting 15 days a month and terrible cramping and blood clotting. I thought surgery was the only answer, because of the size, but did some research, including your site, and decided on the following protocol instead. I will have the fibroid re-measured in 3 months and hopefully it will have shrunk. Here is the protocol I have just started, which I will do daily:
1) Blackstrap Molasses 3TBS per day and ACV 2tsp per day to relieve symptoms and hopefully shrink fibroids. UNSULPHURED BSM!!!!
2) Indole-3-Carbinol to remove excess estrogen
3) Nattokinase to help break down fibrin and break down blood clots
4) Maca--helps to rebalance hormones, generally in favor of progesterone
5) Serrepaptase and digestive enzymes to break down fibroid
6) May add progesterone cream, but have been using the cream for 3 years and it is obviously not working, so not sure if will use that as my progesterone has nor increased on it. Have an oral progesterone (Prometrium) not sure if will take or not. Is supposed to be for people who can't absorb the cream. However, some believe that if fibroid is bigger than a grapefruit, it may not be a good idea to take progesterone, as the fibroid may convert that to estrogen--so again, not sure if will be taking progesterone or not.
7) Diet--Mostly raw, no meat, no dairy, no wheat
8) Exercise--hard to do cause of fatigue but will try
9) Avoidance of xenoestrogens (parabens, plastics, etc)
10) Avoidance of things such as caffeine, MSG, aspartame, etc.
11) Milk thistle to help liver
12) Would like to do some liver flushes but body doesn't seem to handle it well, so not sure.
Well anyway, I just started this protocol. My period is due in about a week so it will be interesting to see at that point if my menstrual symptoms are any better. I will re-update at that time.

Dietary Changes

Just taking blackstrap molasses alone will take much longer if you continue to eat foods with added hormones. Fibroids are hormonal imbalances. You must detox your liver and remove all animal from your diet as well as all of the rest.. eating a majority of green leafy foods, remove every hormone and animal product from your diet and remove caffeine as well. then just wait,, it took me a year and my periods are finally at a place that i can actually walk around and work ...what a difference!!!
