Oil Pulling

Stumbled on this site after using castor oil after brushing for 20 minutes daily or pretty much daily. I have Medicaid which allows $500 per year for a dentist. The dentist wants to do deep gum cleaning because of 4 mm on 2 quadrants. I'm only allowed one quadrant per year on Medicaid! I don't know what effect castor oil has done on my gums but after much reading on this site, and seeing the whitening of my teeth for myself I can feel assured my assumption I'm helping my gums is correct with castor oil pulling. I love this site. I was glad to see some more recent posts so I hope the site stays up. I'm almost 50 and need what's left!

Hydrogen Peroxide
Posted by Val9000 (New York, Ny) on 01/09/2018 2 posts

I believe most of the regulars who use and post on this website are referring to food grade peroxide when they say H2O2, which must be diluted down for specific uses. I usually use the 12% (because it's less volatile than the 35% F.G. H2O2), add about 1 heaping TBSP of Celtic salt and dilute the H2O2 to around 1 part per 6 or more parts distilled water for a mouth wash, shake & try it, adding more water, so the mixture is strong enough to be effective, but not strong enough to give a burning sensation after gargling several times in a row.

I believe the problem about killing more than just bacteria is what the NON-food grade kind of hydrogen peroxide sold at all pharmacies (that says on the bottle to dilute 1 part peroxide to one part water to make a mouthwash). It has toxic impurities, and you can't ingest it after diluting, but you CAN drink diluted F.G. H2O2. I got some kind of food poisoning after eating a tasty fried fish off a food cart in Mexico City and immediately got capsules with instructions to take 16 every 6 hrs to kill every kind of possible parasite, but after 7 days of that and still vomiting all day long, I remembered the instructions on my bottle of F.G. H2O2 that tells how much to add per litre of water and to drink each liter within 8 hrs, so I followed those instructions and was COMPLETELY healed in less than 24 hrs, like nothing ever happened. Nonetheless, I just read that raw, organic apple cider vinegar or even white vinegar kills 99% of all bacteria & viruses, and it is very good as a household cleaner when diluted and is non-toxic to smell it, or get it on your skin, and is edible, so maybe a certain dilution of ACV would be a better mouthwash to cure gingivitis than F.G. H2O2. I've heard many times that ACV kills the bacteria that causes stomach ulcers, so it may have cured my food poisoning, also. My mother used to put alcohol to hold for a minute or 2 in our ears if we got an ear-ache and that worked very well. I got great results with the same concentration of F.G. H2O2 as for my mouthwash minus the Celtic salt. I'm not so sure about putting diluted white vinegar in my ears with a dropper to prevent ear aches, as I occasionally do with diluted H2O2 in the amount I stated above. I believe the same people who say don't put peroxide on cuts, say not to put alcohol on cuts either. Perhaps after washing with soap(with ~40% of it, white vinegar I mixed in, which I already use for washing hands & dishes, and then putting some Neosporin on the cut could be a superior treatment for cuts. We can look further for vinegar mouthwash as a cure for gingivitis on this section of Earth Clinic and see how many votes it got for working for that. I've always liked hydrogen peroxide for cuts because it barely stings. They say that when peroxide stops bubbling that means it has killed all the germs. I've always liked the idea that when I put the diluted as above F.G. H2O2 (without salt) in my ear, I just waited until it stopped bubbling in side my ear canal before sitting upright and letting it come out. I'd feel better trying well diluted in distilled water, organic, FILTERED ACV, than some unnatural combination of toxic drugs purported to cure ear aches - I don't believe it would work - but I'd like to see several people on Earth Clinic say they've tried it in their ears or as mouthwash, and it WORKED, 1st.

Let's read all the experiences & votes about it on Earth Clinic!

A.C.V for tooth care should only be used once every 3 weeks. Had bleeding gums so put baking soda on them, waited couple of minutes, swished with water and swallowed. My gums don't bleed anymore.

For bleeding gums,

you can try just putting baking soda on gums {where bleeding} for couple minutes and then rinse with water and swallow. I had bleeding gums and it did work.

Try oregano oil and apply it directly on the teeth. Do it several times a day. Also take 1 tbs of baking soda and 1 tbs of sea salt mixed very good and after you brush your teeth put the tooth brush on that solution and brush your teeth, it will take about 3 weeks to see some changes, make sure to dilute oregano oil with olive oil.

Oil Pulling
Posted by Alexandra (Cheshire Uk) on 07/18/2017

Have you seen some improvement in the three weeks? Tooth pulling is so final. 20 min is usually recommended for oil pulling. Try using a different oil occasionally eg coconut, or adding essential oils to your oil pulling oil. DON'T USE TOOTHPASTE, try making a solution of bicarbonate of soda and use this with your tooth brush instead. Using it dissolved in water is not abrasive. Sea salt rinses are good too. Take large doses of vitamin C spread throughout the day. Eat foods that contain garlic. I had success with these things. Sometimes I use a solution of xylitol for a good swish. Sugar is obviously bad, but I have found going wheat free and drastically reducing carbohydrates is amazing. I would give these a try for another couple of weeks before you go to the extreme of tooth pulling. Good luck.

I have been oil pulling for about 3 weeks for severe gum disease. I use sesame oil three times a day for 10 min each time. I have been told by my doctor that the infection is too far along for oil pulling to be effective. His solution is to have my teeth pulled. Am I wasting my time with oil pulling and is there another option?

Hello everyone. I happened upon this site because I've been trying to get a little healthier?! I've had REALLY BAD teeth FOREVER and reading some of these remedies has really been amazing!! I've already done oregano oil as a supplement for a natural antibiotic & use a couple drops with my toothpaste (all natural!! ) and haven't noticed too much of a difference?? I am really intrigued with the coQ10 option I've just read? We have heart disease in my family (my father) & my oldest Sister passed BEFORE 50 & one of my younger Sisters has already had a heart attack at 38 & they put a stint in? So I'm gonna make sure I tell the other 5 Sisters about the coQ10?! My Father was only 67 when we lost him & it's scary to know I'm creeping up?! So THANKS for the info on this! I was looking for my TEETH...but got 2 birds!! I will be checkin in on this site more often😇

I have slight gum recession which has gotten worse lately. I found out that it's because I was eating (cheating, actually! ) too much sugar! First, cut out all sugar, then start oil pulling with organic unrefined virgin coconut oil (put the glass jar in a pan of hot tap water first so some of the coconut oil melts). Put @ 1 Tablespoon in your mouth and swish it around for 15-20 minutes. Then spit it out into the waste basket (otherwise it'll clog up your plumbing pipes). Rinse well with warm water and sea salt. Search for oil pulling remedies here on the EC site for more info.

Also, when you were using the Apple Cider Vinegar, was it the organic unprocessed ("with the mother")? Did you dilute it? I'd suggest drinking ACV with Baking Soda and filtered or distilled water with a straw if you want the internal benefits. The straw will help the ACV bypass your teeth.

Baking Soda: Bleeding Gums and Bad Breath

For bleeding gums, I take a measured tablespoon of dry baking soda, put it directly into my mouth and swish it around for a minimum of 5 minutes. (DON'T SWALLOW) Be careful (DO NOT GARGLE) with it in the back of your throat because the baking soda is to harsh in this concentrated form on the soft tissues of the back of the throat. Also be careful when putting the baking soda into your mouth, make sure you are breathing through your nose while taking it because if you are breathing through your mouth, while in the process of putting the baking soda into your mouth, you may accidentally inhale the powder through your mouth and it will get into your throat and block your airway. After doing this for 5 minutes or so spit it out and rinse and take your toothbrush and dry brush your teeth and tongue (TOOTHBRUSH AND WATER ONLY) until you feel a neutral clean feel in your mouth. Do this morning and night. Also be sure to floss, (BEFORE) doing this baking soda regiment. I also use my regular toothpaste, but I use it before I do the baking soda regiment and before I floss. So here is a quick simple step by step of what works for me.

1. Brush with regular toothpaste (brush tongue as well)

2. Floss (I like using waxed floss)

3. Baking soda regiment, as mentioned above.

For years I have had bleeding gums, mouth odor etc. This is the only thing that I have ever tried that worked. When I went for my last dental check up, my dental hygienist told me that the pockets in many of my gums shrank dramatically!!! Some went from 7's to 3's and 4's and I had only been using the above regiment for only 3 months. I am now looking forward to my next dental visit in March 2017 to see how much more healthy my gums are!!!

Apple cider vinegar for gum disease

I have been using apple cider vinegar 2 to 3 x a day in a pineapple smoothie. It tastes great and has cleaned out all pockets of plaque on my gums. I rinsed mouth out with water after drinking smoothy so I so not erode enamel on teeth. The Apple Cider Vinegar also cleans out my stomache, relaxes me due to high content of magnesium. I recently started drinking my smoothy with a straw, that way teeth are protected from enamel erosion. My dental technician was amazed at how healthy my gums and mouth looked.

I recently read that bloodroot is very effective for P.D., but I don't want to poison myself...

Bee Propolis
Posted by Cheryl (San Diego, Ca.) on 12/03/2016

I have researched all of the known benefits of propolis. My question is regarding the use of pure propolis powder in all my kitties organic food which also includes powdered Garden Of Life and plenty of probiotics. The cat rescue that I run sometimes houses numerous animals, many of which have been homeless, neglected, and abused. Some of these four legged fur babies suffer from periodontal disorders. I am currently using an herbal propolis tincture which I make into a homeopathic tincture so that it does not sting their mouths. But it is quite a job to medicate each one individually as well as impossible to treat the skittish ones. Please if anyone has any information or recommendations, on dosing amounts etc. that can help me help them contact me at the Earth Clinic website.

I am thankful for any help.

My very best regards,

Cheryl

Horsetail

During the middle of the night my tongue found a huge deformation in the upper gum on the left in the back. Didn't know what it was but upon thinking that I have had recent occurrences of my upper tooth being loose, I sensed it was an inflamation/swelling of the gum. It was hard to the touch of my tongue. I knew that equesitum hyemale had strengthened the bond of tooth to bone before so I thought that it would possible take that down if it was swelling. I had 1tsp of horsetail powder by the name above mentioned in a tea bag soaking over night in a mug of water and had already drank some. I in the past took it into my mouth and held it there for as long as I could. Last night I did that for about ten minutes and spit it out. I thought the swelling had gone down a bit. So I did it again. I went to sleep and this morning I know it was swelling because it was completely gone. I have been taking the horsetail not religiously to get sillica into me and organic grass fed beef bone and organic chicken bone broth, which ever bones I had, also for the silica content, religiously every day at least 2 cups per day.

I hope this helps. It is the direct application (transdermal) that works the fastest. I have also been taking borax 3 times a day 3 tsp (1tsp in a liter of water solution) sometimes with food sometimes with juice or water. I noted it in a recent post and reported that I was still alive.

My pet Babe, my only living heir, has had a growth on her chest inside her left leg and she is getting borax 1/4 tsp 3 times a day with a little sardines. I had been giving her tallow with olive oil on it and nothing was happening so I thought that I may have been nourishing the growth. Two days ago I began applying the borax solution with a cotton swab and today it is much reduced. I find it problematic applying the borax liquid and was wondering if something like DMSO would get it in deeper. I read that lanolin is a carrier (getting a substance in sub cutaneously). Anyone with carrier experience, please help.

Resveratrol for Periodontitis and Gum Disease

Resveratrol! Either as Japanese Knotweed Powder (Polyganum) or Red Wine Extract. I am somewhat amazed by how miraculously well and quickly (in my case) this worked. Within days of using japanese knotweed extract, my teeth began to tighten up. (I had mostly 4's but a couple of 7 pocket depths in the front teeth.) And my dentist appt confirmed that my teeth were tighter. I had this suspicion that my gum disease was due in at least in part to constricted blood vessels. I had been a smoker for many years and only quit 2 years ago, but also felt that as I got older (I'm in my '60's) my circulation was not great. I had been working with massaging my gums in the morning when my teeth seemed looser -- and that would help. But once I took extract of Japanese Knotwood it happened pretty quickly. Turns out it's a vasodilator -- so in my case part of the problem would be reduced blood flow.

Hard for me to recommend a dosage because I'm hypersensitive and don't need much -- but I suspect using what's shown on the bottle in whatever form you use as a daily supplemental dose would be enough to see if you find a difference. (As a secondary benefit -- this also seems to have improved blood flow to my brain...I had felt the same way -- like the blood flow was constricted and I wasn't getting enough oxygen to my brain -- and this helped to clear some cobwebs.)

I had chronic gum disease inflammation. Tried cleanings and many natural products. The best was rubbing oil my Oil of Oregano and Bentonite Clay on my gums a few times a day. At night I would rub White Oak Bark powder. I also take 3-4 drops of Oil of Oregano 2-3 times a day either under the tongue or in water. I noticed the tips of my front teeth's enamel was wearing thin. I tried the natural remineralizing powder and it worked. I also make my own mouthwash and added natural green Stevia powder to it. Stevia prevents tooth decay.

Here's the remineralizing powder (brush on and keep on for 3-4 minutes then rinse with water).

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp. calcium carbonate
  • 2 tbsp. bentonite clay
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1/4 cup Himalayan salt, whirled in your spice grinder until a fine powder

I've rinsed with H2O2 3% 1:1 or even 1:2/1:3 solution only twice with a few days break between. It made my tongue whiter. Now, after the second rinsing I can "feel" the white coating on my tongue. I feel as if hydrogen peroxide has killed all the bacterias in my mouth, like my tongue is completely sterile now...

What can I do now? I'll definitely NOT rinse with h2o2 anymore...

Try using sage as a mouthwash for bleeding gums. I buy a toothpaste which has sage in it. It stopped my gum disease and it helps heal bitten lips. Bites took me 4-7 days to heal as it swole up and kept on being bitten... Now I know I've bitten myself 'cuz it hurts but that's the last I know about it! I know it also sooths and heals the gastrointestinal tract. Good luck.

Hydrogen Peroxide
Posted by Mama To Many (Tennessee) on 09/22/2015

When I was a girl, I had canker sores often in my mouth. Once my mother bought an over the counter product for them. I didn't like the taste and wasn't consistent in using it. Now I realize it had hydrogen peroxide in it, because when I rinse with hydrogen peroxide, it tastes like that medicine did! It takes me back 40 years instantly. Of course, that medicine probably cost several dollars, and a bottle of peroxide back then was probably a quarter.

These days if I use hydrogen peroxide in my mouth, I do dilute it to 1%. 3% seems too strong for my mouth. So I just put one part peroxide and 2 parts water in a little cup to rinse my mouth.

Hi , I know this post is so very old and I am probably to late to make much of a difference if your gum disease has progressed. I got diagnosed with this horrid disease also and read up about it, Apparently I came across a dentist called Rami Nagel who cured his daughter's dental decay.

Well overall, I learned that a diet that is rich in grains that has not been prepared the correct way can lead to huge dental probs. Since I started eating more wholegrain stuff and became vegetarian that was the start of all my health issues. Apparenetly these grains are covered in physic acid natures way of protecting the grain and the body can utilise it, intact it binds to calcium and zinc and other minerals important for bone and removes it froth body as it passes through the system unassimilated. It has to be removed through sprouting soaking or souring. Google it up online, there are lots of sources.

Vit d also imperative and a good homemade remineralising toothpaste, flossing and I think mostly change diet, avoid sugar like plague. This is day 3 for me with no sugar, wow its hard, I did buy some xylitol for when I fancied a hot chocolate to take that craving for sweets away. Even too much fruit is bad, for teeth, that has decay or other issues. I hope even though it is years after your post, you or someone else finds this little bit of info helpful. Sorry I have not given lots of details.

Hi Joe, thank you for your post. I am in full agreement. I deal with my teeth myself having much support from HEALING YOUR TEETH NATURALLY online for years. It is a scam indeed and in my opinion, criminal, when researching, especially root canals and the effects of this ignorant practice. They learn how to make money, not to help fellow man.

People who poison with fluoride and mercury should be avoided. There is much one can do, yes, with abscesses as well.

Thanks, Namaste, Om

Baking Soda

Baking Soda is the cure all for your dental and mouth care. But you first need to understand how and why it works.

First let me mention what I used to use and what the condition of my mouth was. I am 43 years old. And I was raised as a "Crest kid". I thought my teeth looked good growing up. But it didn't keep me away from the dentist. I still got cavities. My teeth are food traps. So that made it even more difficult. But no matter how much I brushed, the problems would not stop.

I eventually suspected that toothpaste was not working at all. I began hearing about how Fluoride was toxic anyway. So I looked for alternatives. I had already been using baking soda for occasional stomach acid and washing hair. I also became aware that it helps get rid of cancer. And as it also turns out, baking soda was once a common cure for many health problems years ago. That is, until the political lobbyists worked to cover it up.

After some education, I realized that the reason baking soda is so marvelous for the human body is because it has a pH level that is very alkaline. And modern bodies are often very acidic due to the diet and water that is being supplied to the public these days. This affects hair, teeth, and every other part of the body. So baking soda basically fixes the pH for us. It helps cure cancer by making the body more alkaline, which will kill acid loving cancer. It helps hair by making it alkaline. So. When you wash it afterwards, using acidic shampoo, your hair will be more alkaline than it otherwise would be. And your hair will be more thicker and alive than ever. Baking soda helps your mouth by making it alkaline. Acid is what ruins your teeth.

I actually began using baking soda to brush my teeth more than two years ago. Every one of my mouth problems went away and never returned. Furthermore. Cavities that were starting came to a halt. They never worsened. The amazing thing here is that I only brush once a day. I still eat sweets more than ever. I basically wet my brush, stick it down into the baking soda, caking it on. I drip water drops on it until its full wet. Then spread it all around my teeth and then brush everything all through my mouth. I then take water into my mouth and swish and gargle well. Then spit. I do it once more to fully get out the baking soda. My mouth is then very alkaline. It then becomes IMPOSSIBLE for bacteria or any other monster to live in there ruining my teeth.

Now let me add. Do not fall for the gingivitis LIE. The dental industry is a big scam. They want your money. Its the same ole corporate/political scam to swindle the public. To keep us dumb. If everyone brushed with baking soda every day, most dentists would be out of business. Tooth decay cannot occur when your mouth is alkaline.

To add to this for Kay in Jax-- and for anyone else reading-- try fermented cod liver oil. It will help rebuild your roots, teeth and gums. Take lots of it, at least 1-2 tbsp every day. It also heals your gut if you eliminate all processed foods and sugars while taking it. I also highly recommend eating black walnuts. They do a FAST and easy job of remineralizing and healing teeth. I had a toothache once and chewed it and it was gone that very hour. We try to have our whole family chew some every so often, since we are dentist free.
