Just finished my second "normal" period thanks to BSM. Fairly certain that any fibroids are reducing in size as the pressure I've been feeling in a couple of places is now much less... but still there somewhat. Plus, 99% reduction in heart palpatations - and they were bad ones, very scarey.

Coconut Oil

I've had problems with extra virgin coconut oil, but it seems that all extra virgin is not the same. The brand I took goes rancid after a few weeks and ends up smelling like engine oil, so it ain't pure despite having the appearance of being genuine.

I'd advise anyone to check the brand carefully and see if it putrifies after opening before chugging tons of it.

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil caused my heart to race several times - heart racing, profuse sweating, and feeling like I couldn't breathe... I would like to think this was a detox reaction bc it helped clear up a fungal issue, but I'm leaning more towards it speeding up my thyroid and I am hyperthyroid to begin with.

Vitamins B1, B6 and B12

Hi Kristy... I am confused as to why you suggest that iodine would cause racing heart and high blood pressure. You posted that you had these symptoms directly after eating a high salt meal. Was this salt refined salt? Because if it was, and it doesn't matter if it was iodized salt, then that would be enough to give racing heart as well as high blood on its own. The worst diet combination for racing heart and high blood is refined salt and glucose. Just check the reasons for high blood pressure and racing heart on EC.

Your reaction might also have been due to the fact that iodine was removing fluorine/bromine from your body. This can give some strange detox reactions.

When I had tachycardia(racing heart) there were two supplements that stopped this problem completely. One was magnesium chloride and the other was lugols iodine. Now, every day, I take about 12.5 mgs iodine. This is 100 times more than the RDA. I even experimented and increased my lugols iodine dose for two weeks to between 50 mgs and 100 mgs a day to see what would happen. No racing heart. I was taking 400 to 800 times more iodine than the RDA. If you have healthy kidneys then you should have no problems with this dose. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi -- the Nobel Prize winner and discoverer of Vitamin C -- took 1000 mgs of potassium iodide every day. That's 8000 times the current RDA for iodine. He lived to the ripe old age of 93.

Unfortunately, regarding the benefits from iodine intake, I would completely agree with you that kelp tablets are useless in ths respect. And it's not the fault of the kelp but is because of the restrictions imposed on dosage by the RDA via the FDA. If you read the dose on the kelp bottle it will probably say that each tablet contains 125 MICROgrams of iodine. As I've said before, this just might satisfy the iodine needs of a mouse but will do very little for a human who is hypothyroid.

Taking selenium, tyrosine, magnesium and large dose vitamin C(1000 - 2000 mgs/day) as well will aid and assist the conversion of iodide to iodine for storage in the thyroid gland. Vitamin C removes any of the transport and cell absorption problems associated with iodine and selenium, amongst all its other wonderful benefits, also works to convert the T4(throxine) into the more active and useful T3(triiodothyronine) thyroid hormone. These supplements should also help your hypothyroid problem.

Also, Taurine regulates heartbeat and can smooth out tachycardia. It also helps alleviate other cardiac issues such as MVP and MI. It can also protect against cardiac side effects from drugs. This is a link to a non-selling page, with technical information on taurine's effects on cardiac functions and EKG results. Most doctors will scoff at it because they can't sell it to you.

Beth, my mom has heart palpitations and hiatal hernia. I'm thinking that has something to do with the palpitations. But now I'm getting them! I used to get them as a teen and then they went away. Now I'm 43 and started getting them after my meals or in the morning. It's so exhausting and the only thing that helps is lying down. I'm wondering if I might have hiatal hernia also?

Arrhythmia Triggers
Posted by Sharon (Tennessee) on 10/26/2015

Everytime I eat something with aspartame, I start having heart arrhythmias. I am very sensitive to it. I think Splenda does similar, but perhaps not quite as bad. I have even found that aspartame (also known as)phenylalanine is found in almost all chewing gums, and many times hidden in most unlikely things. Since it has the word Phenylalanine, most don't know what that means. But is a form of aspartame. It cause heart rhythm in me, headaches in my husband, and seizures in his grandson...do I need to go on? Please use honey, molasses or even a bit of real sugar if you must sweeten. Of course, Stevia is an option if you can stand it....but it's a flavor I don't much like... Oh, I even found some pills have the aspartame Phenylalanine added as a "inactive ingredient." Come on pharmacy companies!! Just use sugar if you must put a sweetener in!!

This is by no means all that causes problems for me. For 30 years, I've been trying to find out all the triggers. The worst is stress, negative thinking, fear, fear of impending event - or life change, panic. But any adrenaline inducing food or medicine can easily cause them. Bloating, or gas is a bad trigger also. Oh, I learned to NEVER let the dentist do epinephrine on me. It's an immediate heart racing and rhythm all over the place....I must get up and pace around the room.

I've tried magnesium. But I'm not giving up on that yet. I'm just not sure I've tried the RIGHT type- or enough. I think the HARD PILL Supplements may not absorb right- and just pass through.... And there may be a "combination" I'm not finding yet.

I'm open to suggestions!! It got a lot better for awhile, but gotten worse lately- with some stress issues. The stress issues are subsiding, but left me with "sensitized heart" again. (Read Claire Weeks books) She deals with some of this stuff. How- once the problem (stress) is gone, the body still responds like it's still there for weeks and sometimes months- a vicious cycle. Until biofeedback and meditation/relaxation is done "during" attacks....

I have had palpitations for about 6 or 7 years now. During my pregnancy I had several tachycardic episodes where my heart would race for 2 or 3 minutes then stop. I have been trying everything I have read about on this site (BSM, pedialyte, mag/pot, B50, CoQ10, iodine, fish oil) and the palpitations continue. How long do these "remedies" take to work? I also wonder...does anyone feel like this could be a hormonal thing vs. a low in this vitamin or that vitamin? (Palps are 10x's worse before that time of the month) I am truly at my wits end with this stuff. Just want something to work for me. Hate feeling anxious about this :(

Multiple Remedies
Posted by Mama To Many (Tennessee) on 02/12/2015

Dear Extex77,

I think it could be hormonal. If it is, Motherwort tincture may be the solution for you.

Motherwort is used for a variety of heart related issues. (To lower blood pressure, to help with fast heartbeat) and is also used to treat hormonal issues (post-partum depression, hot flashes, etc.)

Motherwort is sometimes combined with Hawthorne. Hawthorne berries are often used for heart problems. My husband has had success with it helping Ventricular Arrythmia. (He combined Hawthorne with Ginger and Cayenne.)

I would suggest a tincture or tea over capsules. A tincture would be easiest. You could follow the instructions on the bottle, or start with half and work up to the what the bottle recommends. Then see how you feel.

I am hopeful this would help you. Please let us know how it goes.

WORKED TEMPORARILY

Hello All.

I want to start off by saying Happy New Year & May God bless you, your off springs and your families with perfect health and long lives!!!

My Heart Palpitations started in early 2013 when my general physician gave me Claritin-D to open up my eustachian tubes he thought had blocked up causing water to get stuck in there make Tinnitus. That Claritin-D started giving me racing heart.....i started feeling my pulses in my throat...... Then once in a while my heart would skip a beat.**BOOOOM** that right there creates anxiety, panic attack and cold hands & feet like you have just seen a ghost or just avoided a bad bad accident.

This also creates a hurricane of all those negative thoughts like possible heart attack ??heart failure?? cardiac arrest??blocked value?? cholesterol?? hospital bed!!! Painful death!!! & what not.

I'm 34, Diabetic due to obesity. Married for 6 years, just bought a house. You can imagine the barrage of negative thoughts like...what if.............

I did some googling and turns out low potassium helps but why am I losing potassium??? Did claritin-d caused this?

Potassium helps but next day my heart starts racing during breakfast and don't calm down till I take potassium and even after that I feel like its lurking somewhere inside...the palpitation is alive and not dead.

There was a time when I had to stop drinking water to stop losing potassium...that also helped palpitations...

Homeopathic remedy called Thuja Occidentalis in 30 potency me for a month but for some reason they came back again.....

I sometimes feel chest tightness but I guess that's due to anxiety and that barrage of negative thoughts that come after one heart flutter.....

What do I do? I hope it gets fixed. There have been some bad people and events I had to deal with in my life that caused me a great deal of stress.

Someone plz advise!!!!

Heart Racing. I had that for 4 years before they finally figured out what was causing it. It started after I took my Two rounds of Levaquin Antibiotic, but it took the doctors 4 years to figure out what was causing it, and yes it will put a lot of stress on your mental state, and as the years went by the heart racing got faster and would not stop until Emergency services gave in IV meds to stop and start my heart. I was finally sent to UAB 2 years ago and they did an ablation and I have (knock on wood) not had any more heart racing issues.

But as my on personal opinion, I think that the antibiotic started it all, I think I had a condition called Roemheld Syndrome condition, which was discovered in the 1700's, and if you read up on it, it will cause your heart to race. There was not one doctor knew anything about Roemheld Syndrome Condition, even though it is in the encyclopedia and what was more they did not seem to care. all they wanted to do was go down my throat all the time and do Colonoscopies all the time. I make sure my digestive system is taken care of because I still have issues with it, but never had any problems until I took those back to back Levaquin.

Or drink a glass of water with 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt stirred in...Don't worry about the sea salt..It will raise your BP if it's low and lower it if it's high...

I have had heart palpitations and it is scary. I react to foods and my heart palpitates after I eat dairy. You can do an internet search, there are folks that react the same way I do to other types of foods and additives/preservatives. Also, magnesium supplement made my heart palpitate, it was messing up the prednisone I was taking and my heart felt really weird.

Lastly, if you are anemic it could make your heart palpitate.

Look at the side effects for every pill you take too. Prescription medicine and otc meds can cause heart palps. Hope it gets better, it's scary for sure.

If the palpitations are due to MSG being eaten... (easy to do, that poison is in almost everything) then take 1,000 mg taurine. Taurine competes with the MSG and helps to clear it from the system.

Also, sometimes palpitations can be caused by being dehydrated, so a good amount of water can help.

I agree with what others have said re magnesium also.... take 400 mg a day of a good mag supplement.

Alkalize, read about it here on EC.

Last, but not least.... Look at electrolyte imbalance. I would eat potassium rich foods, and use a good pink hymalayan (spelled that incorrectly, I am sure! ) sea salt. Lots of minerals in a quality sea salt.

Good luck.... Heart palpitations are scary.... I know.

And this has made my high bp come down but still on some medication which looking to wean off of... I also do EFT which lowers my heart rate.. Last night heart was racing a bit but not too severe so I immediately did EFT and took some Apple Cider Vinegar and felt okay.. Oh; I had missed one day of Taurine and not sure if that had something to do with it...

Hopefully will get this right someday.... but it feels like all an experiment until the right formulas are found....

Marie

I was getting heart palpitations as well. Rather than take supplements (which may have nasty additives in them) you are better off seeking out natural herbs.

I started taking dried hawthorn berry in a tea form (mixed with other dried teas) and the problem has gone and not returned. Hawthorn Berry or leave is an old renowned remedy for heart problems.

Lemon Balm is also a great herb to take for heart palpitations (grow it fresh rather than buying it).

There are other herbs for the heart you can grow for free in your garden.

Marie, have you tried going wheat and gluten free. Research reviews for the book Wheat Belly or look on youtube. Many people have reversed blood pressure after eliminating wheat and gluten.

The herb book I have by Isabell Shipard (wonderful book-google it) says that in controlled medical studies Hawthorn Berry was able to dilate the arterties and bring down blood pressure. It will also stop palpitations. It is one of the best herbs known from antiquity for the heart. High blood pressure is treatable. You just need to be under a Doctors supervision. Doctors don't want you to get off the medication as it is a lifelong money spinner.

Many people have been able to get of HBP medications by taking herbs.. Google it. You are responsible for your own health.

Hi.. Thank you and yes I am pretty much wheat and gluten free.. Funny you should say bowels because I am having what feels like gallbladder issues so working on that also but was told cant do a gallbladder flush taking medication.. Don't know why?

NO doctor unless its a naturopath would help me use herbs instead of medication so I need to find one. Not many practice where I live and to get an appt. takes months..

If herbs would help me get off medication then that would be great.. But I am afraid to do it without supervision.. I am at a loss now unless I find someone who cares..

I do have some lemon balm which I tried tonight. I forgot the man in health food store gave it to me.. I also use magnesium and iodine.. Thank you

Hidden sources of MSG can be anything processed from corn (citric acid or citrate). I had very scary palpitations, referred to cardiologist, diagnosed with PVC (premature ventricular contractions) but found out it was caused by the magnesium CITRATE I was taking. Stopped taking the citrate formula and went back to regular magnesium and the palpitations went away. I still drink coffee with no problem and if it had not been for the kindness and friendship of the managers of the truthinlabeling campaign, I would have never known. It has been over a twenty year piecemeal learning endeavor that has saved my life. You have to read labels and, in addition, pay attention to the binders and fillers in any vitamins and/or supplements.

Could I have an allergy now to shell fish? The rest of my diet is pretty much wheat, gluten free and mostly organic .. it's a pretty healthy diet... I read labels and rarely take in any chemicals if I can help it like msg and the like.... Thank you

This post needs to follow my post about the "magnesiun CITRATE" because it was correcting Beberobozo's misunderstanding about my post, thinking I was referring to "magnesium".

Magnesium is an essential mineral. "Citrate" is more than likely manufactured from corn. MSG can be created as a consequence of manufacture. Citrate is such a product. It seems like double trouble when using GMO's to "manufacture" the binders, fillers and capsules. As far as the magnesium oil, I don't know anything about that. I had been advised that any "extract" can be a hidden source of MSG because in the extraction process MSG is created. Oil is an extract.

Was your shellfish breaded or did you use a sauce that is not used on other food? I would have bouts of hay fever even as an adult until I learned what I was eating was breaking down my ability to tolerate different foods so I have a different opinion about all these "food allergies". There are so many variables.

In addition, there is a substance manufactured called mycoprotein that is fake meat/fish. It has been textured to resemble meat and is sliced, diced or shredded and used in restaurants.

By the process of elimination over the last twenty-plus years I have learned so much about how our food supply has been making us sick and the medical profession seems to be focusing on finding cures and/or quick fixes instead of acknowledging and eliminating the cause. The genetically modified food is harder to digest and even the "organic" produce is no longer safe. Not sure about this but the fungus in that soil may even be similar to the fungus used to produce the mycoprotein. I don't think anyone has full knowledge of what has happened to our food supply.

My first fish which was breaded and was crab must have had something on it like a sauce I never had before. Not sure what it was as it was in a restaurant.

I'm 65 years old and have had palpitations since I was 16. I heard that the condition was caused by the Darvon or Darvoset pain med that I was given after surgery when I was 16. It has been taken off the market for that very reason. I have recently found that eating a Red Delicious apple gives me immediate palpitations, and would like to know why. I have them a lot when I get tired or exhausted. I have never had a doctor believe me when I complain about palpitations. They just treat me like I'm crazy or a hypochondriac. My doc now has me on Bisoprolol-HCTZ (a beta blocker) that sometimes relieves the palps but now when I miss a dose the palps go wild. I haven't found any natural remedy that has worked but am willing to try the recipes that you all have advised.

Dear Lars,

You're correct that "propoxyphene" which was branded as Darvoset and Darvon, were found to effect the electrical action of the heart. In fact, you can still seek compensation for damages. Google, "Darvon darvoset lawyers" and you can find firms that will give free case evaluations.

If this were me, I certainly proceed cautiously but read the article on AEP (google: nutrition review calcium AEP...and you'll find an article that discusses how AEP works on the cellular level to HELP the electrical action). Maybe the AEP could help with the palpation damage done by the Darvoset.

Also I have found that without sufficient "magnesium" in the system one is almost certainly going to have heart issues. I take a lot of natural vitamin E (not the synthetic form); potassium and magnesium; calcium AEP and arginine daily. Those just for the cardio system.

I also might try getting magnesium in the system by taking a few Epsom salts baths two or three times weekly for a month. Two cups of Epsom salts dissolved in warm water and then added to a warm bath and soak for twenty minutes. The magnesium sulfate with absorb into the system and is reported widely to help calm and rejuvenate. Especially helpful in "a fib" issues.

Because papaya is such a system calmer, I'd also try a few tablespoons of that daily.

Hi, Magnesium Taurate is preferable form of Magnesium for heart palpitation according to the "Magnesium Miracle" book. I have read several testimonials about how it helps, if you'd google Magnesium and palpitations there's plenty of info ..

Sea salt has some Magnesium as well but not enough to get the palpitations completely under control .. and you can only take so much sea salt safely without getting over board..

Avoid Msg
Posted by KT (Usa) on 04/01/2014

Hi Mmsg--I'm the one you wanted to keep posting "piecemeal" but haven't been on here much. I get discouraged when I know what I have learned but it is not always received well. I see so many remedies for "cures" instead of making attempts to just eliminate the cause.

ABOUT THE APPLES: When you pick up the apple the wax transfers to your fingers and as you peel, the knife transfers the wax along with your fingers to the apple. Then you ingest it. The same goes for oranges and grapefruits. You cannot wash the wax off. However, I saw a post on here, I think, that gave a ratio of vinegar and water that would remove the wax after soaking for a short time.

It's not worth the trouble for me to do that. One time I had gotten some good ol' Ivory Liquid that was reported to be digestible (original formula) and scrubbed the grapefruit skin but I just don't want to do that. I learned about the wax from Jack Samuels. I sometimes get apples and scrub them but I also cook them before I eat them. Eating the skin is still important.

Because our fruits and vegetables have been genetically modified in one way or another, raw is no longer safe. I get the canned water/juice packed apricots and peaches for my fruit. They have been blanched and are easier to digest. Sometimes if they seem too firm I cook them a little more. I don't think I can give the brand name of applesauce I purchase but it is the only one in a glass jar and has "Natural Plus" on the label. I get the concentrated "country style" orange juice because it has the pulp. I cook all vegetables until tender.

Mmsg, I hope I didn't unload too much on ya!

I have been having "panic attacks" for awhile now, but have never thought to call it heart pulpertations. They have been very bad the last few days. Being holidays, I decided to have a break from all supplements aswell. I have gone back onto Selenium 500mg, Flaxseed oil 1000mg and CalciMag. What a difference. I also do the ice water to drop my core temperature. I would like to know if HP could be associated with menopause, as I actually take the above for the hot flushes. Works better than any chemical. Thanks for a brilliant forum.

Sandy, your problem is most likely MSG poisoning. I had the same symptoms as you.your heart is beating irregularly, skipping beats, heart pounding, getting little sleep. Waking up with a panic attack. Things going completely out of control. Check the website msgtruth.org and many others, do a Google search, msg poisoning. It?s in almost every processed food. And hidden under ingredients on the label you will spices, natural foods, soy, enzymes and anything hydrolized. Keep a food log of everything, time you eat and record when you are having an episode. Keep in mind that all the food additives have at least 20 to 80% msg. The FDA lets the food processors hide this poison in the ingredients I have listed. You eliminate all processed foods and within 2 days your symptoms will disappear. If you accidentally get poisoned by msg dilute 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tater in 8 oz of water. Also drink 4 to 6 16oz of water to flush this poison out. Restaurants are to be avoid until you know what foods are most natural. Lot and lots of home cooking.

My name is Bob I am 59, married and my wife is a great cook. I've had these symptoms for 30 years and have wasted thousands of dollars on BS treatments from doctors. Holtergrams, cat scans, heart specialists. Now I am living symptoms free.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did my usual breakfast this morning, with Mag Citrate after because that seems to have KINDA been working for me. On those ROUGH days it just barely gets me by. And I tried your suggestion of flax seed with coconut milk and for the heck of it blackstrap added. It was pretty good. I have no idea doing that every day lol. CAN I do it everyday?

I can physically FEEL my heart trying to regulate. Like I get a little flutter and then it goes away.

Heart palpitations are terrible, I think they suck even more for people with anxiety because you start to think "Omg, am I dying?" lmao. Panic sets in quick when you have anxiety and anything goes wrong.

AB, what are the reasons potassium is low? I have been prescribed 1 g potassium tablets for a long time, but nobody talks about why it's low. I get cramps if I don't take it.

And trying to get enough potassium from bananas would drive me bananas.

Cardiac Ablation
Posted by Linda (Ireland) on 01/19/2012

Hallo Yea. Thank you for your post and it sounds all too familiar. I am having the same procedure done in a few weeks time. I am 62 years old and quite scared. Can you throw any light on this procedure for me please. Very many thanks and I truly wish you continued good health.

Cardiac Ablation
Posted by Rebecca (Murrieta, Ca) on 01/25/2012

I had this procedure done as well. I had it done twice actually. I had a much more severe case. I have two leaky valves, an enlarged right aorta, and I had 9 pathways that needed ablation. The first procedure, the Electro- physiologist went in and did a minimal amount of burning. When I was on the drive back home from the hospital in Hollywood, I had two attacks that the rhythm was much different. Whatever the Dr. did changed things in my heart. Before I went in, I was having the ablation done based on a diagnoses of PSVT....

Long story short and after wearing a monitor for 6 weeks 24/7 I had AFIB. The Dr. scheduled a second ablation and did 58 burns... There was a steam burst and he had to stop the procedure and I was admitted overnight. I was told that there were still 2 pathways that they couldn't get to and I'd need to schedule another procedure. Problem is before the procedure my BP was averaging about 100/65... Now its averaging 79/44 going as low as 59/42. My cardiologist, whom I love & and was the one that set up the procedure with the Electrophysiology Dept. , just went out on leave because he has cancer and I have a hard time trusting cardiologists as I was told by 4 previous cardiologists that my condition was nothing and was all in my head. My Dr.... Dr. Benson believed in me enough to order the monitor for an extended amount of time and caught several events, one in which my heart had to be medicinally stopped and reset.

So, now needless to say, I'm a bit leery to go back, but I'm having episodes again and my hypotension is getting SO severe I can fall asleep just sitting in the couch after 8 hours of sleep. I'm SO tired ALL the time!!! I have had those procedures and 17 other operations as well... All in the past 20 years. I only just turned 47 in October for crying out loud!! #Frustrated!

My doctor suggested to take Biotin...

Pick up a bottle of it and take every day and you will have beautiful nails. I have used different strengths... and about in the middle will work or towards to high end.

Also nail polish remover can make split nails... either use no polish or wash well with soap and water immediately after using nail polish remover.

Good luck!! Betty

Avoid Multivitamins
Posted by Lee (New York New York) on 10/18/2013

It is important to consume your vitamins from food sources. It is russian roulette while taking vitamin supplements, because there could be additional/unwanted fillers, etc. In them. Soy (in vitamin supps) is believed to be a hormone disruptor, and can be one of the culprits towards heart palpitations. Of course, there are other culprits which can affect the heart; environmental, genetic, medicinal, psychological, dietary, etc....

It is also important to check the water in your home. If you are using a water filter/purifier, I suggest having the water tested for minerals.

My body responds negatively (or so it seems) to apple cider vinegar, coconut, cruciferous vegetables (esp, but not solely, raw).... I believe in the blood type diet, but am finding it difficult to strictly adhere to the diet.

It is also important to have your blood checked for minerals, vitamins, arsenic, mercury, lead, etc..

Pam: It seems you are "topping out" on the Vitamin B3 (niacin) and experiencing one of the harmless side-effects of it, either due to that 250mg being just too high for you and your body size, or having a digestive system that forces fast breakdown and release of the vitamin in far less than the nominal 24 hours! People have wide variance in almost everything, so you might be metabolizing that 250mg in those 3 hours of rapid heartbeat.

This page mentions the rapid heartbeat side effect of niacin: www.buzzle.com/articles/niacin-flush.html
The effect of niacin doses is different for every person and so is the symptom of niacin flush. Thus, some people may show severe symptoms of niacin flush, while some may not. Read more on niacin overdose. Niacin is not a drug, but a useful vitamin. Niacin flush benefits the circulatory system and hence, one should not worry about this symptom. Though niacin flush can be irritating, one can take proper measures to avoid this discomfort and enjoy the health benefits of niacin. So, if you are taking niacin medications for cholesterol or lipid treatment, and are experiencing niacin flush; then do not stop taking niacin. Instead, consult your physician and get the proper amount of niacin dose and learn the methods to avoid the niacin flush. So, either go to a much lower dose B3, perhaps 50mg or 100 mg NOT time release and see what happens, or don't throw out the time release, but just use a knife or pill-cutter to take 1/4 or 1/2 a 250mg pill at a time, especially before nighttime. Then once your symptoms are gone with a lower B3 dose, just reintroduce the other supplements one at a time over many days. There is a small outside possibility that the multivitamin you also take has one of those thick RED food color coatings, which you may have a sensitivity to. That red, if it is, despite FDA approval generations ago, is notorious for causing reactions. It will be derived from either coal-tar aniline, or an African beetle! Check the box or bottle label.

www.panicattack.net/treat.htm
FDA approved food coloring are to be avoided as much as possible. Practically all food coloring are derived from Coal Tar (Aniline Dyes) and can cause learning difficulties, anxiety, restlessness, and most are potential carcinogens. Children with ADD should not have food or sweets or drinks containing Red, Blues, Green, Yellow dyes.

younglivingcircleblog.com/category/nutrition-diet/page/3/
A red coloring frequently used in yogurt, candy, fruit drinks, and other sweets, labeled as "carmine" is made from the dried, dead ground-up husks of female red beetles to make a paste. The beetles are usually raised in the Canary Islands and shipped to the USA and other countries to use as a coloring in processed foods to give them a rosy-strawberry coloring.

Thanks Tom, I have started taking the vitamin supplement again, and the vitamin B3 timed released yesterday and today. Haven't had any bad rapid heart problems like before, but last night I noticed a slight increase in the night. The supplement has a yellow coating, but also since I have been having trouble with my hands, I started taking a 8hr timed release acetaminophen pill mostly at night so if my hands bother me I don't have to keep getting up and these pills do have a red coating, which all I can find is FD&C red food color. If I notice that I am starting to get that rapid heartbeat again, I will definitly cut down again. But I feel that the B vitamins have really helped my hands, even though they are not better yet, but I can start seeing knuckles again. I will also stay away from the coloring if you think that could be it. Also I usually take the vitamins in the morning after eating something, is it better to take them at night after dinner. Thanks again Pam

Magnesium Oil

Hi Lori, thanks for sharing. My dad just noticed something was off with his heartbeat and the doctor told him he had an irregular heartbeat. I want to suggest the mag oil to him. Funny I just got a bag of flakes recently. It came with a sample bottle of mag oil as well so I immediately tried it. Didn't notice much yet (i was looking for feeling more calm). Last night I tried it on my leggs (3 sprays). My legs broke out in hives, had to wash it off to get relief and apply emu oil alo vera. Have you head a reaction like that to mag oil?

You posted in May 2010. How has it been going since then? Are you still applying mag oil regularly?

Thanks.

Molasses
Posted by Aw (New City, New York) on 08/15/2010

Does this drink really work? I have blackstrap molasses, baking soda and lemon. Does this stop your palps? If so, how? Is the acid/alkaline balance really behind the reason for, or at least an antagonist, the palps? Why would the molasses work, because of the copper content? I have read where a-fib people are low in copper and this helps them. I've been told by a doc that I needed more copper. Is a copper deficiency perhaps a cause? I'm also curious about learning more about iodine. Another scary element that we are all deficient in. Just a note, I never started getting palps (though they said I had WPW since the day I was born) until I was living on the zero carb high protein diet for years. I was pretty acidic. Any insight would help. Thanks, AW

I have experienced very similar heart palpatations over the last 25 years. Once I was taken to the hospital and I too had my heart stopped with some injection to reset it. I was diagnosed with Super ventricular tacky cardia. I was told it has to do with the electric currents around the heart. I'm still not sure why it happens, because the doctors say otherwise might heart is strong. Doctors wanted to do some kind of surgical procedure, which I said no to. They also said I could take a beta blocker the rest of my life, which I don't do. I do find that when I feel an episode beginning, I just start to cough and it seems to throw my heart back into proper beating.

Probiotics are very important for digestive health, but current ones are grown on GMO corn - which is, well.... really bad for you. So, now a days people will get their probiotics from fermented vegetables like sauerkraut etc. You can get it at the store - avoid additives, or make your own - very easy and fun to do. Everyone should eat a little bit everyday.

I started getting heart palpitations every day for the last month or two. They are very scary. I was told to cough hard to get the heart back in rhythm. That worked for a second or two. I then took Black Strap Molasses (1 teaspoon) and a 1/2 hour later I drank water with 1 teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar. That combo usually stops the palpitations for 1/2 a day.

HOWEVER, I started OP (Oil Pulling) every morning on an empty stomach (1 teaspoon of either virgin olive oil or 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil) and since I've started, I've had no palpitations at all! It's amazing!

If you want to try this, please read up on it (on this website) first.

I was surprised to learn that yogurt may cause heart palpitations. However I know from my own experience that I would sometimes develop an irregular heart beat after eating this product. Orange juice or an orange can help reduce my heart palpitations along with calcium and magnesium supplements. Other people have also told me that an orange or the juice works for them as well. I've not tried the apple cider vinegar but will do so to see if it may work for me. I've had nuclear stress testing and apparently do not have coronary artery blockage thus far. I have learned through personal experience that high blood pressure meds (once took mycardis) may cause heart palpitations even after a year or more of use.

Magnesium

Regarding heart palpitation and magnesium supplements... It is important when using magnesium supplements to keep daily intake of maganese under 2 mg. Too much manganese crowds out magnesium uptake and causes an irregular heartbeat.

Check vitamin and all supplements to make sure there is no more than 2 mg a day

This is in reply to Ron B. I have had problems with heart palpitations in the past, and had very good success with Peppermint tea. The tea is also very good for digestion and possibly the palpitations are linked to faulty digestion. You mentioned also that you suspect an overly acid system might cause this. I suffer from this also, and take DeSouza's Liquid Chlorophyll which helps a lot. Chlorophyll is great for alkalizing the body. Any brand would probably work, but I notice other brands have added ingredients besides the chlorophyll that I would rather not take. I cannot take ACV because I become too acid from it. You mentioned also that you take a lot of supplements. I would go off of everything and just try the peppermint tea, at least 2 cups a day. Also, 1 tablespoon of the chlorophyll in an 8 oz. glass of water once a day. Also, an excellent remedy for nerves is liquid Celery Seed Extract. You can put 12 or more drops of this in the peppermint tea if you feel that nerves are also linked to the palpitations. I suggest going off of everything you are taking now while trying the peppermint tea, liquid chlorophyll and liquid celery seed extract. Something you are taking might be causing the palpitations to be worse. Once you feel better, you can always introduce the supplements back slowly. I hope this helps you, Ron.

One thing about heart palpitations that was mentioned in the definition in the begining is that they can come from anti-depressants. I was on anti-anxiety pills and was not told by my doctor that they were addictive. They said take up to this many a day as needed for anxiety. I took them for about a week on a regular basis, and the when I was feeling fine I didn't take them. I ended up calling an ambulance that night because I thought I was having a heart attack at the age of 27. So by the time I got to the hospital my paliptations had stopped and they just said to take my medicine as prescribed. I looked more information up about my medicine and realized that the withdrawal symptoms of any drug that has benzodiazapines in them is heart palpitations and other. Because I took these for only a week I was addicted and had to take several months to withdrawal off of it slowly so I would not go through the palpitations again. The website with the withdrawal chart was in a manual written by a UK woman doctor. It is on a UK website.

I talked with my doctor telling them I wanted off and told them the steps I was taking. They were ok with it and just said that if I had problems to call and they could help. They also suggested getting on something else after I was done withdrawing from this one. To finally get off I actually had to be put on a different anti-anxiety pill because I could not take the week where I had to come off all the way. These drugs are very scary to me, but may be needed by some. If you have palpitations though see if you are on this type of drug first to see if it could be the cause of this issue. Unfortunately I didn't try any herbal remedies because I had not thought of it yet. I love this website and plan on using it for many things.

My mom said my heart reached 143 beats pr minute. They say it was over stress over a boy but I think its more then that. They ran a cat-scan and they didnt find anything. They said I should just try to relax and not let anything stress me out. Iv tried to relax and its helped some but I have major migrains, idk whats going on or what to do. Heart palps can be scary, can't they? I get them often, too, and they used to really scare me. Since they checked you out pretty well, I wouldn't worry that it is anything serious. The anxiety they cause can make them worse, so try to just let them pass and don't focus too much on them. Do you take magnesium? Sometimes this can help. Have you had your electrolytes checked? It could be that you have a deficiency in that area. At your age, it could be just your hormones as you get migraines.

It could be magnesium and or potassium deficiency. As you get migraines have a look into magnesium. I started getting migraines as a small child and the Dr told my mum that I was putting it on as young children don't get them. Well he was wrong! About 10 years ago I worked out it was lack of magnesium that caused mine. I have not needed a hospital visit for at least 9 yrs nor have I been to the Drs for an injection or prescription for them. I too start to get palpitations (although very mild), a couple of years ago, and yes was under a little extra stress. Since starting to do some alkalizing and taking some potassium and magnesium have not had any more. Maybe you could have a look at EC's page:
https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/heart_palpitations.html#MRT_17816

You are the person who knows your body best, if you feel it is not stress causing it then keep looking until you find what works for you. We are often told stress causes this and that but maybe it is closer to the truth that it aggravates things or it could be that it causes your body to use up certain nutrients thus leaving you with symptoms from a lack of the same nutrients. All the best in finding your answer and keep searching and asking till you do.

Hi, a lil while back I was trying magnesium citrate which I had found in a lemon flavored powder at a gnc store. The first time I used it, it worked great for what I was using it for, the second time I used it that night I had heart palps got real light headed and it became difficult to breath. The symptoms stopped after but I was wondering why? A coworker of mine is a nurse and she had said that magnesium supplements can be hard on your heart if abused? But I had only taken the dosage it said a lil under in fact...

Hello David from Corsicana, Tx

Re your heart palpations...

When did the problem begin?...You mention a number of problems that might be associated...dizzy, nervous, sleepy and tired.

I'm always suspecting a virus lurking around causing all kinds of problems. And David, especially, I look for a TIME prior to the onset of the symptoms when one might have fought off a really bad infection like mono or strep etc.

Just checking...think back to the onset; did you have a bad infection prior to symptoms...think back six months to a year or so...a really bad infection like I named above. If so, then we need to discuss how to get rid of the probable causative agent...an infection of some kind. Now just because you can't recall one doesn't necessarily mean that no infection is involved but so often I discover a "smoking gun" in the form of a bad infection. Post again if you suspect a possible lingering infection, and I'd describe what I do to knock out such infections.

Posted by Dave (Fountain Inn, Sc) on 05/22/2014

Hey there Faith from Pdx,

Yeah, the "smoking gun" theory nails a lot of medical issues that track back to infection by virus/fungus.

Folks rarely put together an infection (even though usually bad...like mono or strep) and a condition six months later. The underlying culprit is the virus or fungus or both...a co-infection.

That's why I'm such an advocate for colloidal silver... or anything that used consistently might kill the invader. I won't turn my nose up at MMS or Iodine or ACV or the various "oils" that are virus/ fungus killers. The problem is most folks don't keep up the regimen long enough to finish off the infection.

And I'm an example!

I've mentioned a few times on EC how a Live Cell Microscopy analysis found fungus greater than the norm in my system. I had to increase my own CS dose to three times daily on empty stomach to kill the fungus. I had been taking a few tablespoons four or five times weekly...not enough to kill the fungus.

But I suspected the "smoking gun" so that is why I had myself tested.

Hi, my joints swelled last Christmas for a couple of months needed steroid injections to bring the swelling down, then started getting dizzy in April for 5 weeks it went away for 2 weeks and then since then I have been very light headed on and off throughout the day. Also, for the last 6 weeks I've been having heart palpitations and insomnia, extreme tension in my stomach and extreme emotions when the tension is great. I've had lots of acupuncture and been to see a Chinese doctor who has given me tablets to balance my hormones for the last 3 months however am still really struggling... any suggestions? Thanks

Potassium and Magnesium Citrate Electrolyte Solution

WORKED TEMPORARILY

After getting horibly short of breath and sometimes even distressed after a sudden bout of heavy exersise (e.g. climbing a few flights of stairs), an ECG reported that I have AF (Atrial Fillibration). I am a 59 year old male who eats of high plant low meat diet but drinks too much coffee and beer.

The local Indonesian doctor who found the AF issue, suggested a typical Big Pharma regimen of nasty drugs. I recalled a friend who said he had dealt with bad heart palpitations using Mg (Magnesium) plus other minerals and vitamin supplements.

Before coming here to EC, I researched the topic and found that in emergency rooms, Mg is often introduced intraveneously to control bad cases of AF.

While visiting Australia last week, I bought some large bottles of Mg Ca K supplements and made up mixture of Epsom Salts (Magnesium Suphate) and water in a nasal spray bottle, which I spray into my lungs.

All this has helped. but it seems that if I let the amount of daily supplemented Mg drop too much, I too easily go into AF after heavy exercise. In other words, I have yet to find the right daily dose.

WARNING!

Although many of you believe you have been cured of angina by taking garlic and flaxseed, I am afraid that is is not true and you are in a dangerous situation. These supplements are very useful and strong if used correctly...as prevention. However, they cannot unclog arteries. Please be good to yourself and reasonable. Use all available treatments and advice together! There are plenty of wonderful cardiologists who have a holistic approach.

Molasses
Posted by Bella (Scottsdale, Az, USA) on 11/26/2009

I have the same problem with palpitations at night. I will try the sourgum and mollasses.

I also wanted to mention that all the soy here in this country is genetically modified. In fact, Japanese parents who have kids here going to college send them soy from Japan. They will not allow them to have the soy grow here because of the way we grow it. It also is not supposed to be good for women. It supposedly causes breast tumors and other female related tumors. I would investigate that if I were thinking of eating more soy. When I went on the LA weight loss diet several years ago(their diet is very heavy on soy products,) I developed nodules on my thyroid. It causes man boobs to. Thanks for the info.

Back to the palpitations. When you wake up at night, with them, what do you take and how quickly does it work? I'm pretty weirded out when it happens and I've been taking xanax an additional O.O5 when it happens. I've been trying to get off the xanax.

Thanks

Coconut Oil

I read all of the information and people feedbacks on your web site. Now TED is saying only hydrogenated coconut oil will cause heart palpitations etc. That is so NOT true! I took virgin coconut oil for one week and my heart started to race. Please watch what you advise people.

I would like to add that I am completely unimpressed with kelp supplements. After talking with the nurse from my doctor's office about a week and a half ago, I found that I will begin treatment for an underactive thyroid at my follow up appointment at the end of the month.

After trying to educate myself about hypothyroidism, I decided that I'd help things along and get some iodine supplements. Not impressed with the fact that iodine can worsen thyroid problems, I bought a low dose supplement and decided I'd only take it twice a week.

Tonight was the third time, following a supper with more salt that I usually have in three days. Apparently the combination was too much and I experienced the palpitations James, from Seattle, mentioned. And they lasted for several hours. Definitely NOT the good kind.

B vitamins or not, I don't think I'll be taking anymore kelp. The experience scared me so much that my blood pressure shot way up and I'm still trying to relax enough to get it back down to it's normal 'slightly high' range.

Believe the warnings, people. Check with your doctor before trying kelp. Even the manager of the health food store suggested I talk with mine before trying it, but I sometimes think I know more than anyone else.

Believe me, you don't want to experience this. In between considering a trip to the emergency room, I really worried about the possibility of dying. That's how scary it was. Check with your doctor first... or you might have an 'exciting' night, too.

Vitamins B1, B6 and B12

Hello from Chile.... A few comments of my own.... First time I read Earth Clinic and I thank everybody for their input. I am 71 and have had tachycardia since I was about 5, but had an ablation when I was 53 with great success. Now I have them once in awhile. Definitely, no caffeine, maybe a very diluted cup of tea. Definitely for me, the blackstrap molasses improved my digestion, very important because the food and gas push the diaphram upwards and causes palpitations. No overeating, especially in the evening. Cheese is difficult to digest. I will try all the things I think might help, especially not eating the yogurt. Try to avoid stressful situations as much as possible. Thanks for all the info

I started having heart palpitations, especially at night when I was lying down, about three months ago. It started to really disturb me. I take several prescription drugs since back surgery over a year ago. I am overweight and I smoke and was eating a very poor diet as well.

I did some internet research and started taking a B-complex vitamin and the palpitations stopped the very same day! This was exciting enough that I continued my research to try to solve other chronic issues I have such as acne, difficulty losing weight, and ongoing neuropathy (from my damaged spinal nerves) with a lot of success! I plan to post my success stories in other sections on earth clinic soon.

Among the more interesting things I learned while doing research was how long-term use of prescription drugs can deplete your body of certain vitamins. This is not something my doctors ever told me. With the smoking (I'm working on that) and a poor diet (I've since made some major changes), I think I was running on fumes, so to speak.

Since starting a good B-complex vitamin, I haven't had any heart palpitations at all.

I have A-fibulation of the heart and my heart rate is 90-120 all the time. I refuse to take beta-blockers and statin. In his book "The amazing way to reverse heart disease", Dr Braverman has described many cases of people with very bad heart conditions. He is returning them to normal by using mega doses of Vit B6 (at 500mg daily), magnesium - up to 3 gm, primrose oil (3 gm), taurine (3 gm), and many times recomends also garlic and fish oil of 3-5 gm per day (I'm vegetarian and replacing it with the better then fish oil formula of Ovega-3).

On the other hand, Dr Hoffer has also many cases when he had returned pationts back to normal with mega doses of Niacine (vit B3) of 2-4 mg per day (regular, not a flash free) plus mega dose of Follic assid (two to 3 doses per day of 15 mg (yes, mg, not mcg). You can read about his exeriences here: http://weeksmd.com/2009/01/dr-hoffer-on-cholesterol-and-niacin/

Best, Nick
