Antioxidants, Vegetarian Diet, Herbs

I went to a naturopath after suffering from H.S. for the last 20 years (since 6th grade) I found taking a trustworthy brand of antioxidants twice a day with food helped tremendously. I also take Echinacea and Goldenseal and eat a primarily vegetarian and organic diet. More than anything I believe a 12/12 probiotic supplement taken daily to be the most helpful for my HS. Do avoid smoking cigarettes or anything for best results. I plan on taking the turmeric and trying the tea tree oil. I experience the pain and embarrassment of this disease every day whether it's because of the scars or an outbreak. Good luck to all.

The reason (I think) that no one could find Elapse Corralineous is because it is spelled incorrectly. I believe it's Elaps Corallinus, which can be bought online at hmedicine.com. A direct link is: http://www.hmedicine.com/homeopathic/dilutions/D-E/Elaps_Corallinus

I haven't tried this yet (I'm still just new to the turmeric and the ACV/Epsom salt treatments) but I'm going to order some of this stuff off hmedicine and see how it works. I think 200cc a day is what it should take, but you might want to ask a homeopathic doctor to make sure.

Hope this helps!

EC: At long last! Thank you so much!

Baking Soda for BO- what to do when you shave

If Baking Soda is used after shaving your armpits will become extremely sensitive even irritated. I use VCO after shaving for a few days until any small wounds (invisible to the eyes but there nonetheless) heals. VCO's effect is not as long lasting as Baking Soda - so on a very hot day a few application might be needed. However, VCO expedites the healing then one can return to the Baking Soda. Hope this helps!

Anyone has a better interim solution than VCO - please share.Thank you.

I have to say that I agree with Jessy from Sarasota. The tomatoes or citrus cause me to break out. I have been in recession and I ate a tomatoes every day for a week...and suddenly I had a massive breakout like never before. Beware of the TOMATOES for sure!! Hope this helps.

Check this link for an explanation of the Elapse remedy. http://www.homeoint.org/books/boericmm/e/elaps.htm Sorry I do not know where you can find it, except that I purchase unusual remedies from my naturopath's clinic. A homeopath's and or naturopath's office should have it or be able to order it for you. Good luck!

Hidradenitis Suppurativa Remedies: Please beware of any suggestion to try ACCUTANE, if it is still being scripted. The side effects can be immediate & devastating. Please notice if summer's heat aggravates your HS. There's already an internal body heat issue, coupled with the external heat of the season. There are several Chinese herbal formulas that may be helpful, but they must be given professionally, because each person's constitution is different. PLEASE CONSULT A TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICAL PRACTITIONER WHENEVER YOU CAN, as there are a variety of herbal washes, tablets, & foods, that may be effective. I am trying a remedy called Coptis Detox that seems to have been of great relief in reducing the internal heat that adds to the pain of breakouts. Will report more as results develop.

Also, for the Lady & the colonics - YES/YES/YES, they are helpful too, but not without a change in intake of foods that could be aggravating the condition. Notice your intake & break-out routine, so that you can capture what triggers an outbreak. For me, for example, BEER-CITRUS-TOMATOES, much as I love all those things are guarenteed break-out starters, AS WELL AS STRESS & WT. GAIN. In fact if there's any goodness to this, it is that breakouts tell me that a weight gain of at least 10 lbs has happened...Jessy

For more than 1/2 my life...Re: Post-surgery of the right armpit and beyond. In 2000 I had a cyst removed from my right pit. It was benign, the size of a grapefruit, & was an outpt procedure, Was sent home with drains & Oxy-contin. Detoxed self off that, & came through well with the drains meaning little scarring. 6 mos. later I was to return for the same procedure on the left arm, but refused as the right was beginning to swell again. Hence, SURGERY DOESN'T WORK FOR A SYSTEMIC CONDITION. What does?? Every thing mentioned in this blessed site so far! Especially the ACV-Epsom Salt, & Kosher/Sea Salt. Messy as hell, but very healing. Paper tape as well when draining, as it took me years to find a solution to ripped-off skin. Also, Curry powder which contains Turmeric, at night, but it can stain so be careful. Then, Campho-Phenique after bathing can catch new erupts early and stop them, especially in the groin area. Hot compresses of Golden Seal/Burdock/Slippery Elm herbal tea are also effective, but on thin skin they are indeed painful - had to take several shots of liquor before applying - BUT, 30 YEARS LATER THERE'S BEEN NO RECURRANCE TO THE AREA AT THE TIP OF MY COCCYX BONE. Good luck all, will write back soon...Jessy

HI, I HAD HIDRADENITIS SUPPURATIVA. I CURED THIS DISEASE BY GOING TO A HOMEOPATHIC DOCTOR AND BEING PRESCRIBED ELAPSE CORRALINEOUS. I HAD BOILS ALL OVER MY BUTTOCK, UNDER MY ARMPITS, CHEST ETC. IN 10 DAYS IT CLEARED UP AND NEVER RETURNED. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

EC: When we searched for Elapse Corralineous on the web just now we could find no mention of it, so we emailed Dianne for more information. We will post her response as soon as we hear back!

Colonics

Hidradenitis suppurativa: hello everyone, i'm back with more suggestions on how to help this annoying painful skin disease. I've decided to try a colonic, I realize that with our fiberless, and nutrient lacking diets that our immune systems and internal health could be contributing to this disorder. The buildup of toxins over the years from not fully expelling fecal material could be causing our immune systems not to properly perform, therefore allowing skin disorders such as acne, hs, anemia from malabsorption of nutrients, fatigue, insomnia, and so many other health problems.

A healthy diet free from refined sugars, and processed foods, and plenty of water could only help this disorder. I'm guilty of terrible eating habits and smoking which could only be contributing to this problem. I strongly believe that a colonic which is like an intense enema rids our body of old fecal material, parasites, and toxins that have built up in the colon over the years from unhealthy eating habits, I think that colonics and a drastic change in eating habits can drastically make a difference in the severity of hs.

I think that antibiotics and surgery are only a bandaid to the true cause of hs. Getting to the root of the problem is the only way to pinpoint the cause of hs. I wil try the colonic and make healthy diet choices and let you know the outcome as soon as I see results. I hope that someone suffering with hs as i have over the years will read this and give others ideas on what worked for them, take care and god bless.

Turmeric, Tea Tree, Dial

Re: hidradenitis suppurativa. I've had the disorder since I was 22 and i'm 30 now. I was just officially diagnosed last year. Long story short i've had an area the size of a mini golf ball near my labia, you can imagine the pain, they have been lanced and drained only to return. It's gotton worse over the years, it started out as one large area on the left labia and now i have areas that affect both sides of my entire groin. Lately i've been cleasing the area with dial antibacterial soap, old fashioned yellow bar. 2 times/day, follwed by a few drops of tea tree oil, i also take 2 300mg tumeric tablets daily. When i feel a flare-up coming i take one alleve which prevents a full blown flare up. I suggest trying a variety of treatments and would advise staying away from antibiotics, they don't work.there are sites which i'm not allowed to name that guarantee a cure that are all natural, i would suggest choosing the one that gives you the ingredients of their product only. Don't let this disorder discourage you. It can be maintained. I can't stress this enough surgery and antibiotic therapy don't work, use natural herbal remedies for this disorder. I've had surgery only for the boil to return in the exact same spot. I'm a rn and i see so many of my patients think that surgery and antibiotics are the only answer. Please continue to research and find natural cures and lifestyle changes that can manage this annoying skin disorder.

Hiradenitis Suppurativa 1) Stop using any form of Spray on or Roll on Deoderant. Clean with soap and water in Shower (Not Bath). Use a Stick -Type of Deoderant ( and Make Sure No One Else Uses It). Make Sure that you Dry Off very good Before you apply anything and use a Different Towel after Each Shower. If Redness Persists after you have done this, Use Hydrogen Peroxide on the Affected Areas after Shower. Then use Corn Starch on them to keep them Dry. If the condition does not fade or disappear within one week, Go Directly to your Doctor.

I suffered from Hidradenitis Suppurativa about 3 years ago, in fact one sore under my arm got to the size of a baseball and my physician did an in office procedure to open it up, and if that did not work I would have had to go to a surgeon for the final draining, fortunately that worked. I swore I would not have that happen again, so I did some research. The problem seems to be linked with a skin surface yeast infection, occurring in the areas that tend to stay moist ( underarms , under the breasts, and around the groin area) so I have taken steps to treat it like a yeast infection with perfect success.

1. Stop using roll on, or stick antiperspirant. the repeated contact while infected only serves to reinfect you when you get clear, plus antiperspirant tends to clog the pores trapping the infection inside. So using a pump spray deodorant such as FDS is much more effective during the treatment.
2. Do not use antibacterial soap it actually kills the naturally occurring good bacteria that helps keep yeast infections in check.
3.Twice daily massage natural live bacteria yogurt on these areas like you would a lotion. (note: use unsweetened, unflavored natural yogurt for this, otherwise it is a sticky mess.)(you can also use an over the counter yeast infection vaginal cream for this if you prefer.)
4. Shower Daily taking care to thoroughly wash, and dry prone areas.
5. start a regimen of turmeric to help cleanse from the inside out.

Do this for 10 days and you can virtually say goodbye to Hidradenitis Suppurativa. I did all this myself and have been clear for 2 years, I have also recommended this to others with the same problem and they have also had excellent results. Even after they have repeatedly had doctors draining their sores and putting them on massive antibiotics for years. They are finally clearing up the problem.

i used to get horrible boils (golf ball to baseball size) under my arm pits. i had a doctor suggest that i may have a condition known as (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/hidradenitis-suppurativa/DS00818) Hidradenitis Suppurativa, he said this was incurable. i do not believe in incurable conditions. After lots of research and a trip to a local allergy specialist i found that was actually allergic to aluminum zirconium, a very common ingredient in antiperspirants (see http://health.howstuffworks.com/question627.htm for more information) i switched to an antiperspirant withouts actually allergic to aluminum zirconium and the boils stopped.
My allergy Dr. told me that alot of people actually get misdiagnosed with Hidradenitis Suppurativa because of boils in the armpit when all that is wrong with them is their choice of antiperspirant. i also want to point out that i have seen this ingredient listed on several feminine hygiene products for moisture control.

Hi. I wrote in last month about the wonders of baking soda for underarm body odor. Well I still agree that it's a great remedy, however I had a side effect that I wanted to share. A few days ago I shaved and after getting out of the shower, put baking soda under my arms. I guess I had knicked an area because it hurt like crazy after the baking soda hit it. That night, I started to feel shooting pain in the same area... it lasted all night. The next morning, still in pain, I looked in the mirror at my armpit and discovered a big ole boil forming. I am guessing that a chunk of baking soda got in and irritated the area. Knowing how great turmeric is for cysts and boils, I immediately went and got some warm water and put a teaspoon of turmeric in it and chugged it down. The shooting pain stopped in about 3 hours and the next day the boil was half the size. 2 days later it is gone. My suggestion is not to apply baking soda to your armpits if you have knicked them while shaving! I continue to use the b.s. but haven't had any more inflammation in that area.

I was Diagnosed with hidradenitis July 06. I have had terrible breakouts in the groin area from my bikini area to my anal area. I have tried everything to stop the breakouts, even bathing 3 or more times a day nothing has worked. Recently I went to a local natural food store and read a natural remedy book were it stated Tea Tree oil, pure tea tree oil will take out the staph from boils and soothe the pain. I tried it several times so far so good. It has a scent of eucalyptus and the same drying action like alcohol. So far it works
