Today is the 7th week I've been taking 2 tbsp of Blackstrap Molasses every morning for my gray hair. I have black hair and I've had gray hair since in my 30's. And I don't see any change of my hair color from the roots. I had high hopes because I am extremely allergic to Permanent hair dye. It makes my scalp swell up & itches like crazy & I been using temp hair dye but the color fades fast. I was hoping to at least get a slight darker change of my gray. But no results here. I will keep taking it for couple of months longer. I'm not giving up that easy LOL!

Thanks for all the posts on this site. Very informative. I just came across this site. I'm in my early 40s and my grey has been a source of concern to me especially because it is increasing lately. Pls I'll like to know what to do with the potato after using the skin. Can I eat the bulk or not, or I should eat only the skin and throw away the bulk? I want to try this remedy and come back with my testimony. I'll appreciate your response. Sola , Nigeria
Wheatgrass

There may have been a misunderstanding on the issue of gray hair, Amar. To my knowledge there is no instantaneous cure to convert gray hair back to normal, but if there were and it involved Wheat grass then it would involve Living Wheat grass juice. That means you have to grow this stuff in your kitchen and juice it and drink it while it is fresh. Wheat grass juice is a living drink. I can say from experience that Wheatgrass juice will help you but it is not a drug, and it does not work in a week, in two weeks. When I did this it was a daily commitment for three months. It worked so well that I continued to grow and juice wheatgrass for over a year after I noticed my issue had disappeared. (Mine was Acid Reflux). So the first issue is time. Even with the dry product which you bought may have some positive affect, but it is not going to work over night. This isn't magic we are talking about. Consider this word-image: The general direction of a man's health is like a two hundred tonne Ocean liner going in a direction. if the captain of the ship decides to change directions, he turns the rudder. But the ship does not immediately go in the direction that he turned the rudder. It takes time for the body to respond to proper nutrition. I have seen God Almighty heal people instantly. I have witnessed crippled men jump and walk perfectly who for years have been in excruciating and debilitating pain. So I don't discount instantaneous healing, I am a man of Trust/faith in the operation of the Law of God. But for most people time and proper nutrition is the solution.

Hello, I just read your post, and I am really wondering if you are having any success? I was so horrified when I read the word microwave for your recipe. I wanted to suggest you research as to what a microwave does to the food, from my research anything microwaved changed the structure to be way too acidic for my liking. The other concern I had was the milk. But, I guess if this is working for you than you can really see how the power of the mind works which is great news and I hope it is.
Personally I gave my microwave to my neighbor, and although the stuff I am using to help my kidney and liver functions better tastes great with raw sugar and milk in it, I just can't see how those two substances are really aiding to the reversal of my grey hair. Fact with me is, I had heaps of hair! All the little blonde ones started to fall out and others were replaced with grey. I thought to myself, at least I didn't go grey at 33 like all my girlfriends (who loved wine and vodka), but now I'm thinking, I am not quiet even 40 yet, why should I be going grey at all! So, I am rubbing magnesium oil into my scalp, and taking this Chinese root which I boil on the gas stove for 20 minutes. I than use take the root and mash in with my mortar and pestle (made from copper) and blend it into my 15 year old dogs food to help with his kidney function, since recently he just started to go grey around the face. The root has a few names, and I do not believe it is bad for dogs as there is no caffeine in it, but it certainly has a nicer flavor than a coffee drink and it is doing wonders for my body Fo-ti. I recall showing my fiance one of my blonde hairs that was blonde grey blonde a year or so ago...so I KNOW you can reverse grey, it just might take a little time to get my kidney's working as that is where my problem lies. I guess we possibly might all be different I also need to get copper into my diet some how as I want to have a nice colour to work with as it starts to grow back.

I've been taking Iodoral capsules about 2 months and my hairdresser cannot believe my totally white hair now has about 15% restored colour. Not my natural colour however, its dark brown. I used to be a redhead! However red hair does tend to fade with age. I wish I'd known I had sever iodine deficiency years ago, as I was 50% grey by age 35 and 100% by age 45ish. Red hair goes white not grey for some reason. Answer is yes. My hairdresser thinks its a miracle and said I have magic hair! She never saw this happen before. I am taking a fairly high dosage original reason was for heavy metals, fluoride, have amalgam fillings still.

Hello everyone at Earth Clinic,
Could someone please give me some advice on the best way to intake BSM, so that the nutrients can be bioavailable? I have been taking one tablespoon neat with breakfast: just pouring the viscous substance on a spoon and putting it into my mouth: but after quite a number of months I have not seen any change in the proportion of gray hair. Don't know whether it would perhaps be better to dissolve it in water or milk, though I don't see why it should. Thanks so much for your help :)

When I started getting grey hair I didn't care. Everyone in my family that I remember went grey, then white if they lived long enough. After reading this post I went to the mirror, looked and I don't have it anymore. I don't remember how long ago I started taking BSM every day but prior to that, when I had grey hair, I remember I was only taking magnesium powder and an occasional vit C. (I drank OJ everyday but when I consumed a little more cheese I took one or two of the 1000 mg C tabs for preventative reasons).
I am poor and cannot afford a variety of vitamins and/or supplements. These are available in our food. There is a problem with what has happened to our food so any added vitamins or supplements could cause an overload of something. According to a nutrition almanac BSM is a balance of nutrients in itself. Who knows how long that will be safe?
I started taking BSM because of the water soluble B Complex vitamins. Taking only one of the B vitamins for something specific can cause a deficiency in the others, contributing to major depression which I had years ago. I'm convinced that BSM must have given me what I needed to get rid of my grey hair even though it did not matter to me.
Copper Supplementation
Posted by Joy (Battleground, Wash) on 05/29/2013
While it is TRUE that hair goes white and grey due to mineral deficiency and mineral imbalance could be the cause. Also, if you take kelp and you are hyperthyroid you will SUFFER. Copper toxicity causes liver problems and thyroid problems.
A healthier appoach would be to take a full spectrum mineral with supporting vitamins since minerals are only part of the orchestra. My grey hairs are going away with supplements and I use very little copper or zinc.
If you use the supplement you bought; try 1 every other day so you don't get overload and cause a deficiency in your other minerals
A progesterone deficiency can also cause grey hair.

Dianna from Austin, on the blackstrap molasses upping your blood sugar in coffee but not in a smoothie- what was in the smoothie? was there yogurt? Milk? What was the protein source? Do you have fats in there? protein and fats WILL modify the effects of sugars. That is why one's body often will normally crave milk (if you like milk) to go with a dessert, especially a chocolately one. Because of the protein and fats, that is also why ice cream (which is also high in calcium) isn't such a terrible effect on the blood sugar compared to more carbo pure desserts.

May help with a copper deficiency which may cause grey hair. Better to make sure you are copper deficient first, or it won't work. Worse if you are high in copper, it may make you feel worse. Adrenal fatigue can cause you to have lower level of copper binding protein, making the copper you take in bio-unavailable. Then the copper you take in gets stored in your brain and liver causing problems. Poor adrenals may underly grey hair. Something common in Starbucks customers!

BlackStrap Molassas does make your hair darker like it says it does, I am proof of that! I had just colored my hair "blond" and all of a sudden within about I'd say a few days after that, my hair is getting dark all over from the top to the bottom! It does take about 3-4 months for the BlackStrap to kick in but it does work if you are a natural Brunette! I take two tablespoons a day.

To Sandy from Boston, From what I have read, premature grey hair can result from stress and a low level of minerals in the diet. Today's diet consists commonly of processed foods and and foods that are quick grown with standard fertilizers. These growing techniques result in foods that are lower in minerals than our grandparents ate. We also are in higher stress states due to the pace of society.

I am a man in my early forties with a lot of white hair (not even gray - it's stark white). As my hair is naturally black it really sticks-out. Now here is the thing: I have a brother who is 3 years older than me. I am the "healthy one" - always working out and watching what I eat whereas he drinks heavily and smokes a little, he has virtually no gray at all.
I have tried to work out why we have this difference and can think of two reasons:
1) We are both very tall but I am an inch taller and often have cold hands & feet. I reckon this means scalp circulation is also not as good.
2) My "healthy" diet of no alcohol was not as healthy as I thought. For years I was drinking diet sodas and my bro drinks beer by the case-load. Turns out beer has copper and a couple of other minerals and my diet sodas leech minerals from the body.
So now I have quit sodas some time back and am trying to get more copper in my diet. First off was BSM which may be very, very slowly working. A black spot of hair about the size of a fingernail has formed around my temple area.
Recently I have been taking a bit more powdered cocoa and the spot has turned into more of a streak of dark hair - seems to be working. Encouraged by this I am trying to eat more nuts and have even tried liver - it has to be the most disgusting thing ever but if it can help me get some hair color back I will eat it now and then.
I am also drinking a little beer these days. I have read that those who drink in moderation tend to live longer than those who drink nothing. Today I ordered some liquid chlorophyll and will add that to the diet.
I would love to hear the thoughts of the board. I hate having so much white hair at this age - it is the only thing that ages me. I really, really want to get more of my black hair back naturally.

Hi, I use Bsm for anemia and I have not noticed a change in my hair colour- I use the unsulphered organic type. I also have worn 2 copper bracelets for a few months but really I haven't noticed a change in hair colour. Obviously we are all different and we have different body chemistry. Interestingly when I had my last hair mineral test it didn't say I was low in copper but I swim in chlorinated water once a week and this may have skewed the results. Maybe the answer lies in having a hair analysis and seeing what you are deficient in? Interestingly, of health gurus actually have grey or White hair so perhaps there's not a cure? My mother is in her mid 70s and has mostly brown hair( she has less grey than me!! ? Her hair is auburn colour which is dark brown with quite a lot of red in it( copper). The main drug she takes is thyroxine which could be similar to taking iodine? If this helps I'm not sure- her father didn't go grey till he was in his 80s..

You do your research. Lack of copper has been linked to aneurisms in a very real way not a we kind of think way like they do with Alzheimer's disease. Lack of copper also causes the skin to age faster and sag. Cornsyrup depletes copper and it's in practically everything. Raw Cacao and Molasses are both high in copper and good for you if you don't have sugar issues.

In ref to the candida, I researched for over a year and kept trying different remedies, but nothing worked well. I kept a list of the recommended herbs, etc, and kept researching. One day while shopping in a health food store, I saw a product called ____ that had many of the herbs on my list as ingredients. First time I had seen that, so, skeptical, I decided to try it. I began to notice some relief from itching within hours, and relief that lasted more than 3 or 4 hours in about a week. It was the first time I had relief. I used it for about 4 maybe 6 months. After that, I switched my focus to better choice of foods, and doing well.
I appreciate this website doesn't like to list product/company names, because often there are other motives. My only reason is the product had natural ingredients and actually worked. I was so incredibly grateful, that I wanted to share the information. If the website can't list the product name, I will provide my email, but I would rather not do that at this time. I will check back.
Lugol's Iodine
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Philippines) on 10/05/2012
Hi Jac... Hydrogen Peroxide(HP) can be mixed with sodium bicarbonate in water and can also be added to the lemon/lime or ACV remedies that Ted recommends. But HP should not be added or taken at the same time when you take anti-oxidants. HP has pro-oxidant action which tends to neutralize the anti-oxidant action of vitamin c and LI(lugols iodine). Therefore HP should not be taken with any anti-oxidant at the same time.
Ted also recommends that LI can be added to Vitamin C(as Ascorbate) in solution. This converts the molecular iodine to KI and converts some of the Ascorbic Acid to dehydroascorbic acid(DHA). DHA is exactly the same as Vitamin C but has the added property and advantage that it is able to penetrate the blood/brain barrier -- ordinary ascorbic acid cannot do this.
For more on remedy combinations -- see this link:
https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/remedy-combinations4.html#TED
If you have a job then you can still alkalize etc by:
1. Buy some sodium bicarbonate as tablets from the chemist and just take them with water at the approproate times during the day.
2. Get a small dropper bottle and put some of the LI in this and take it to work so you can also take LI during the day with some water.
3 Similarly using a dropper bottle containing a saturated solution of ascorbate (with or wthout the LI). Take this throughout the day as needed.
Some ideas for you.

Sorry Bill- that last comment got posted accidentally...
Can you please tell me if it would be safe to take 10 drops H202 300mgs Vit C a dash of baking soda? Then take the LI in water 15 minutes later?
We absolutely want the fulls benefits of the LI, but trying to consolidate wherever possible as the opportunity to ingest during the workday doesn't exist.
You stated mixing the LI & H202 can create a powerful acid, but I've been taking it this way for a year and am wondering if I've negated the effects of the LI in doing so.
Thank you for your replies!

Hi Earthclinicians. I think I've found a way of increasing/decreasing grey hair. When I drink alcohol or caffeine my hair is very much greyer the next day.
When I drink wheatgrass over a few days or I juice vegetables, my hair goes back to its original colour again. It also gets thicker. I've had this confirmed by others who've seen the change.
I think it's about about blood pH and keeping on an alkaline diet.
This is my observation anyway.

I haven't tried the molasses yet, but I will now try after having read what I see here. I will say that I do believe reversing gray hair is possible, because I was able to do it, accidentally.
One day, about a month ago, I had a gray hair that was just kind of hanging out of place, so I pulled it out. I was shocked to see that, while the tip of the hair and then up for about six inches it was gray, as it got closer to the root of the hair, the hair had returned to black and there was two inches of dark hair from the bulb to the point where it turned gray again). So, something I was doing made me start growing dark hair again. I wish I had kept track of what vitamins I was taking back then because it was probably related.

I had been taking organic unsulphured blackstrap molasses for gray hair for the last year or so. Instead, I found that it cured my borderline anemia and I could donate blood again. I take a tablespoon every day with soymilk. It is also working on my gray hair but much more slowly. I realise that my roots are not turning gray as quickly as before and I could wait longer before retouching my roots. Very pleased with the results as I had been trying other remedies like flaxseed oil and vitamin Bs without success. I am vegan so blackstrap molasses is definitely useful for vegetarians or vegans who have problems with anemia.

I've been using BSM since I found this site 2-3 years ago. Before I started using BSM, I could find about 10-15 white hairs scattered around my head and I could tell I was at the start of becoming completely gray - I was in my early 40's at the time. I started taking 1 tbsp. Of BSM daily, very consistently, in my tea. Around the 3rd month (maybe it was longer), I noticed 2 hairs on my head that had white tips with brown roots. I even showed it to my husband who was extremely skeptical of me taking BSM to cure my gray hairs. My grays were becoming less frequent (I had plucked the previous ones) and was rarely seeing any new grays growing in. There was a period of time when I got sick of taking the BSM, and the white hairs started returning.
So I went back to taking BSM daily, but this time, I made the BSM fudge (equal parts EVCO, BSM and organic nut butter... Along with some added things to make it yummier like raw cashews, chia seeds and hemp seeds) and it's like dessert. I have a few teaspoons of BSM fudge daily and I love the taste of it so I never fail to consume BSM consistently. I rarely ever see any gray. Now I am almost 45 and I don't have any gray. I started telling all my friends about it, and there have been mixed results depending on the level of gray. My sister, who is like me with the scattered grays here and there, started taking it and it works for her. My friend, who has an entire head of gray hair and colors it every 6 weeks, started trying it. After consistently taking it daily and finishing the bottle of BSM, she claims it made her hair grow much faster but didn't change the color back to brown. It annoyed her because she had to color her hair even more often since her hair was growing out so fast taking BSM.
So, I think my conclusion is that BSM works, but you have to take it forever. As soon as you stop, the grays will return. If you are completely gray, it will either not work or you'll get tired of waiting so long to see results. It's a very slow process and you have to be patient. Take BSM if you're just starting to go gray, and I think you'll get positive results from it.

AMAZING! I've been drinking the fresh-squeezed juice of a lemon in water first thing in the morning for a decade (sweetened with stevia). Began this as a sugar- free alternativce to sodas. Noticed my back pain went away and my face that was usally washed-out pale became rosey! So I stuck with it.
Then recently I began adding two tsp apple cider vinegar and organic unsulphured blackstrap molasses to my morning drink (for minerals like copper, and alkalanizing). With ice it's so very refreshing! What I didn't know was happening was my 30% grey at the corners of my forehead was reversing. I've been under a LOT of stress lately and busy and just didn't pay attention till I went to have my hair foils done again and the lady mentioned I only have a few grey hairs here and there over my whole head. I checked in the mirror at home and, sure enough, there are no 30%-grey patches to be found at all!!!
I'm posting here as a way to give back to Earth Clinic because in the past I've used suggestions from here that have either worked or helped me find a combined solution that did. I can't say if it was the BLM or the ACV or the combo with the lemon juice. I do know that at 41 I had lots of grey coming on and at 43 I do not. The only thing to change of late to my already healthy diet (lots of animal fats, meat, raw eggs, raw milk, raw veggies, nuts) was the BLM and ACV in my drink. I have also included more virgin coconut oil in my diet recently but I don't think that would have given enough time for the change... but it's another bit of data in case it proves useful to someone.

The blackstrap molasses is very rare and costly inside india. Still tried a bottle -one table spoon everyday, I'm 32 yrs and was using it when I was thirty one since I had 75 grey hairs on my head. I think the bottle lasted for very little time (plantation brand), also I was not very regular in consuming it. Maybe I should have continued it, but I stopped; planning to shop later. But, believe it or not, I found at least 10 gray hairs, dark brown at the roots and one of which, was a ver long thick white hair that had the darkest possible black region at the root for about 3 cms long! Darker than my original black colour ever! Now 6 months after I stopped and after lots of terrible eating habits I'm growing lots of greys. Panicked and have started on the molasses again, with lemon or orange juice and increased the dose to two table spoons. Hopefully something changes. stopped eating desserts and having just two milk teas with honey as dessert, everyday.
Milk is a substance that binds with vitamins and minerals and reduces their absorbtion just like caffeine and tannin. Stop having it with milk, instead have it with plain water. and I drink a spoonfull of flax or evo or coconut oil along with it to enhance the absorption of fat soluble vitamins and minerals from the molasses.

500mg Ashwagandha with breaky and dinner 5-6 days a week, and I might add not for grey hair, was taken for about a year. Hubby was about 10% grey but not now - no grey. We did not notice it till about 6 months. Has not had any for 6 months and still no grey. He was also taking neem and tulsi for 3-4 weeks on and off and zinc. The zinc was taken only once or twice a week. This is the second time he has got rid of his grey hair without trying, The first time he was young to be going grey.

Thanks Bill for all the useful information! Another question please, if I may; Is there any adverse effect you know of to combining the H202 w/LI? I believe Ted wrote they have a synergystic effect, but I don't want the mixture to deplete one form over another (iodide/iodine).
Thanks also for the warning- don't want any powerful acid here! ;)

Hi Jac... I would certainly not combine Lugol's Iodine(LI), Hydrogen Peroxide and Vitamin C together every day. Both Hydrogen Peroxide and. LI are quite reactive. If you combine Hydrogen Peroxide and LI together in an acid medium then this may form Hydriodic Acid -- a very strong acid. However, there are benefits if you combine Vitamin C with LI -- the elemental iodine in the LI will oxidize the Vitamin C to dehydroascorbic acid -- which is beneficial to the brain(Normal vitamin c cannot cross the blood/brain barrier). Also, all the elemental iodine in the LI will be converted to iodide. So, if you want to specifically get vitamin c to the brain or you want a larger dose of iodide as an antioxidant or to help recover just your thyroid, then combining vit c with LI is useful. But this form of iodine will not have the bodywide beneficial effects on the body as LI alone because LI, which is iodide and iodine in a solution of water, also creates Triiodide or I
3- in an equilibrium reaction:
I2 (elemental iodine) plus I (ionic iodide)¢‡Œ I3 (Triiodide)
So with LI you get all three types of highly beneficial iodine which are all useful in different ways to the body. These iodine/iodide forms are beneficial because different regions, organs and glands the human body absorb different forms of iodine/iodide. For instance the female breast can absorb only iodine and not the iodide form. Same with the prostate. Other parts of the body -- like the thyroid -- can only absorb it as iodide. So you must have all 3 forms of iodide/iodine present to obtain whole body iodine sufficiency (not just for thyroid sufficiency). In fact, as has been proved through research, the body needs 100 times more iodide/iodine than the thyroid requires. This is why Lugol's Iodine is the best form -- because it has the right balance of iodide/iodine that is required for whole body sufficiency -- including thyroid sufficiency. I usually always take iodine in a glass of water alone outside mealtimes -- with nothing else. I would also advise that you do the same with hydrogen peroxide(HP). You can also take HP combined quite safely with sodium bicarbonate in water which will help alkalize your blood at the same time.

Lugol's Iodine

Hi Susan, ... Insomnia can be caused by many factors but perhaps the favourite cause is acid brain. The best remedies that you can use for insomnia are Ted's Lime/lLemon and sodium bicarbonate remedy or his Sodium Citrate and Potassium Citrate remedy which is also a good one. My own favourite is his carbicarb remedy which is more strongly alkailine and which penetrates the blood/brain barrier easily and will have a greater alkalizing and calming effect on the brain.
Regarding the Lugol's Iodine and Vit C remedy that you mention, Ted only uses a couple of drops of lugol's for this. I tend to use more drops(for different reasons) and always in a full glass of water outside mealtimes for maximum absorption into the body -- this form has a tendency to energize the body, so might affect sleep. Ted's method of using Vit C and lugols iodine will create a mildly alkaline solution of just ascorbate plus dehydroascorbic acid and potassium iodide because the elemental iodine in the lugol's will all be converted to iodide. The usefulness of this mixture is that the dehydroascorbic acid produced can cross the blood/brain barrier easily whereas ordinary ascorbic acid cannot. Normally the body has to use up some of its glutathione antioxidant to help convert the vit c to dehydroxyascorbic acid. So this is really a method of, on the one hand, making some of the vit c more available directly to the brain and, on the other hand, creating more iodide as a useful antioxidant. Both should have a beneficial and relaxing effect on the brain.
Also remember that there can be many other reasons besides acidity for insomnia. These reasons can be due to a lack of nutrients such as vitamin B3, too much calcium in the diet, too much stress, too much fluoride, too much chlorine in your shower and tapwater or too many heavy metals(affects the pineal gland in the brain).
I can't really explain it all here, but Ted has got a very useful extended explanation for all insomnia causes -- with cures -- here, which should help you to understand it all better:

Thanks Bill, somehow I hadn't seen that you had answered my question already of when to take Lugol's!
Lugol's Iodine
Posted by Francisca (Zug, Switzerland) on 02/15/2012
Thanks for your comprehensive answer, Bill. So my husband was right and this Lugol's has 2, 7mg iodine per drop! That means that I have to take quite a few drops in order to get enough. Right now I am on 4 drops but that is less than 12mg a day. And do you have any ideas whether to take the drops all at once or spread out during the day?
I am taking most of the supplements you talk about, only the supplement I take has a lot less Vit. B2 and B3. As far as the Brewer's yeast you talk about, we won't be able to get it here in Europe. I take Lugol's in order to see whether I diminish the bags under my eyes which are starting to bother me big time, the quality of my hair, insomnia, cold extremeties, etc. I am not taking L-Tyrosine. Where I live right now they are not at all big on supplements, it is very difficult to get anything at all!
Lugol's Iodine

Hi Francisca... In answer to your other questions:
Right now I am taking 3 drops a day but I am utterly confused. And do you think that one should take it with the meals or not, divide the drops through the day or not?
The Iodine Project currently advises a daily dosage of between 12.5 mgs and 50 mgs of lugol's iodine. They say that 12.5 mgs of LI is enough as a maintenance dose once your body is up to the proper iodine/iodide saturation levels. But I much prefer to have excess iodine/iodide in my own blood on a daily basis and therefore take between 4 and 8 drops of 5% lugols per day(25mgs to 50 mgs). I do this because iodine in the blood greatly aids the immune system by killing 90% of all known pathogens. I also do this because iodine helps to chelate and remove cadmium, mercury, lead and aluminium from the body. Iodine also helps to solublize fats, helping to metabolize and remove unnecessary fats from the body. Iodine, when taken in large enough dosage, also acts like vitamin C in larger dose and helps to remove plaque from the arteries. It also has beneficial effects on bone formation helps prevent cancer, allergies and diabetes. I could go on but I think the point is made.
So there is really no need to be confused because iodine is so good for you. Up until WW2 medical doctors prescribed much higher lugol's iodine dosages -- 50 to 300 drops a day of 5% lugol's -- for chronic forms of asthma, bronchitis and emphysema. And it was successful because iodine is highly protective for the lungs -- T3, T4 hormones and iodine all have a propensity to collect in the lungs. Iodine is also a very useful anti-histamine because it blocks the conversion of histidine to histamine at higher dose.
In regard to when you should take iodine -- I always take iodine outside mealtimes simply because more is absorbed into the body than if you take it at mealtimes. In his experiments with Vitamin C, Linus Pauling discovered that he lost a third of his Vitamin C dose via excretion if he took Vitamin C at mealtimes. So that's why I take Lugol's Iodine outside mealtimes -- simply because more is absorbed into the body. Also best if you take the LI in split doses throughout the day and avoid taking LI at night because it tends to energize your body -- so you might have difficulty sleeping.
Iodine is lacking in all diets nowdays. Behind my house, in the shanty, I always advise the poorer people to buy seaweed in the markets(very cheap) here and put it into their rice and soups every day because goiter is a problem here in the Philippines and Lugol's is so difficult to find.
Lugol's Iodine
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Philippines) on 02/14/2012
Hi Francisca... It is certainly true that the old lugol's iodine contained 44 gms of iodine and 88 gms of iodine per liter of solution. This might indeed give the impression that this mixture contained over 12% iodine.
But in your calculations of iodine/iodine content you have completely forgotten and not accounted for the content of potassium in the potassium iodide of the iodide/iodine solution. Therefore, to obtain an accurate determination of just the iodide/iodine only in the solution you must therefore subtract the potassium content -- which will give a truer and more accurate percentage of just the iodine/iodide content of you lugol's solution -- which works out to be about 5% iodide/iodine in an aqueous solution.
If you are trying to improve your thyroid using lugol's iodine -- you must also take, on a daily basis, all the supporting nutrients which are defined here for success:
* 50 mg Iodoral minimum for breast cancer (may start with 12.5 mg). Some practitioners may recommend another form of iodine such as a Lugol's solution. Iodoral is the Lugol's formula in tablet form especially designed to avoid gastric irritation.
* Vitamin C - 3,000 mg per day (more may be necessary to detox bromide).
* 300-600 mg magnesium oxide (Iodine Investigation Project participants prefer magnesium glycinate or magnesium citrate.).
* 200 mcg selenium. The selenomethionine version is preferred by many.
* 500 niacin (B3) twice a day (NOT niacinamide). Start lower to avoid flush. See update in left margin on the ATP Cofactors as an alternative.
* 100 mg Vitamin B2 three times a day. *See update in left margin on the ATP Cofactor as an alternative.
* A comprehensive vitamin and nutrition program.
* (Feb 2008) Dr. Guy Abraham cautions that "excess calcium supplementation (2,000-3,000 md/day) has been the most common cause of poor response to iodine supplementation. " Vitamin Research News Vol. 22. Number 2.
Source:http://breastcancerchoices.org/iprotocol.html
As well as the above support for iodine supplementation, I would also take De-Bittered Brewer's Yeast and L-Tyrosine in support. Brewer's yeast helps to synergistically support the B6 and B3 intake by the addition of full support of all the B vitamins in this manner. L-Tyrosine is also necessary, together with the magnesium, in order to help convert and store the iodide as iodine in the thyroid. By using these support nutrients you eliminate any other side problems that might be causing poor iodine/iodide absorption into the body and into the cells.
The above protocol also applies for other problems besides thyroid problems because this is a method to obtain whole body saturation of iodine/iodide(not just thyroid saturation). Therefore, supplementing lugol's with these support nutrients will also help to cure other problems not connected with the thyroid such as uterine fibroids, breast cyst problems and prostate problems in the body.
Bye the way, I have also discovered that De-Bittered Brewer's Yeast, due to its quite nutty flavour, makes a very pleasant satay sauce. All you have to do is just add a tablespoon or two to any sauce and it will add a delicious and unique nutty flavour.

I don't believe that an iodine overload will result in hyperthyroidism. In Dr. Brownstein's book, he tested over 1000 people with iodine. People took iodine and were then tested as to the iodine content in their urine. The more iodine in their urine meant it was surplus to the body needs. In other words iodine not needed by the body is justed taken out in urine. Excess iodine is not stored in the body.

Hi Bill, thanks for your explanations. But what do you think about the Lugol's I bought then? They say that it is 12%, my husband who is a chemist says no, he says it actually contains 10% of potassium iodide, not 7%. If it contains 2.7% iodine per drop it isn't a 12% solution, is it? Right now I am taking 3 drops a day but I am utterly confused. And do you think that one should take it with the meals or not, divide the drops through the day or not?
Ingredients
Health Leads makes Lugols Iodine and iodide solution according to the Dr Hulda Clark recipe. Lugols contains iodine and iodide. This iodine in solution consists of 44g Iodine & 88g Iodide in 1000ml of distilled water. This equals a 12% solution.
Whats in our Original Lugols
Per drop: 5.3mg of Iodide and 2.7mg of Iodine
Per ml: 80mg of Iodide and 40mg of Iodine
Lugols is a iodine solution and contains 5% iodine and 7% potassium iodide in pure distilled water.

Lugol's Iodine

There seems to be some confusion over the use of Lugol's Iodine. What people tend to always forget is that the drop dosage of say 50 mgs of 5% Lugol's Iodine per day is completely different from the same 50 mg drop dosage from say a 2% Lugol's Iodine solution.
A single drop of 5% strength, Lugol's Iodine -- where one drop contains 6. 25 mgs iodine -- would be about 8 drops. A single drop of 2% Lugol's Iodine would therefore contain only 2. 50 mgs of Iodine. So to get a 50 mgs dose from a 5% LI solution would be only 8 drops, whereas a 50 mgs doasage from a 2% LI solution would require 20 drops(2. 5 times more).
To help clarify this, here is a table that shows total Iodine content per drop for different % strengths of Lugol's Iodine:
Sourece:http://breastcancerchoices.org/lugolschart.html
Most historic dosages of LI refer to 5% Lugol's Iodine, whereas today, due to restrictions on LI strength, most Lugol's Iodine sold is at only 2% strength -- therefore the number of drops taken for an equivalent 2% LI dose of say 50 mgs will be much more.
This is important to understand in order to achieve correct dosages that you want to take every day.

Kwesol, the daily allowances are for the most part useless! They were either set up thinking of only one health problem like rickets or else are set up to make money for Big Pharma so one can't really trust them, sadly enough!
Bob, it would be interesting to know what the ratio of your Lugol's is because there are several different strenghts! I have just started taking Lugol's and the company selling it told me that it was 7%, meaning 5% iodine and 7% potassium iodide. My husband who is a chemist looked at the label and told me that it is 10% p. Iodide. In Dr. Brownstein's book he says that one drop is 12, 5mg of iodine, my husband says that according to the label one drop is a little less than 3mg. What a mess..... People here have said that one drop is 6mg..... Anyway, after starting with one drop I am now on 3 drops a day with no side effects! No idea how many drops I should really take! Do you really think that your hair has gone back to its normal color? I hope mine will too!
Yes Kate, the droppers are also all different. Mine is one of those you take out of the bottle and squeeze, not the ones that is incorporated in the bottle. I think that namely because I was on the Pill for a number of years I am very deficient on a lot of important vitamins and minerals. Too bad doctors don't talk about that to women on the Pill? They should! I think that all the white spots on my skin, weak hair, bad sleep and much more is all connected to this!

Actually we are rather deficient in iodine in our society. There are different forms and one to use is Nanscent Iodine. This deficiency affects all areas of our bodies. No one is suggesting overdosing and Bob is using a reasonable dose as those drops are very small from the droppers with quality iodine products. I've watched a number of integrative Docs speak about this deficiency and how it affects the ovaries (cysts) and so much more. Our society is over stressed with all the tech stimulation, jobs, finances etc. This also affects the adrenal glands. It is all connected and we need to slow down and rest more. God told us to rest for one entire day each week.... For good reason. Yes, sea salt is best and many who have switched and started to use it have seen improvement in blood pressure and more, our bodies need salt but with the minerals.

I've found something that truly works for restoring hair color/getting rid of grey hair. I don't know if it works for everyone in general, but I've seen it work with about 11 people including me, ranging in age from 50-83. I'm a believer in many kinds of natural supplements, but for the grey hair issue I'm talking about certain liquid mineral supplements. I use 1 in particular, though there are many. I don't know if the others work. I've used 2 wiht the same results & both are multi-level-marketing products & can't be found in stores. I comparison-shopped in the health food stores after I began using this and did not find anything comparable in price or quality/quantity. The liquuid mineral supplement is a total body nutrient that saturates the cells and is easily absorbable since the nutrients are suspended in the liquid.
I just happened on this page today and probably won't be here again- at least for a long while, so you can email me direct with questions, if any. You may be able to find simiilar products that work as well. The 2 mineral supplements also improved my eyesight and allow me to sleep an average of 1-2 hours less nightly.

A lot of natural oils mimic Ostrogen, if one of these is rubbed into the hair follicle it stimulates it to grow, There's an old Indian remedy that works, the oil can be bought in Asian shops. Bhringraj oil. You could also have poor thyroid function if so that would cause hair loss. So maybe, up the iodine. Small amounts of coconut oil rubbed into the scalp are beneficial as well.

To Mg from Dubai, Uae. Some people have had success with taking BSM for hair loss or premature grey but it does take time whatever the protocol used.
Be aware that on average, hair on a human's head grows about a half an inch per month.
If your treatment is successful you will see the new growth coming in in your natural hair color.
So over time you would see your natural hair color at the root end of the grey hair as the hair grows and eventually you can cut the grey ends off.
