Jock Itch Cure...??

I have used all the over the counter antifungals to no avail. I know H202 was a good astringent for Jock Itch. However, I used Benzoyl Peroxide 10% cream (acne treatment) and within 2 days my severe rash was diminishing quickly. The Itch and smell was just about gone. At 6 days it was evident that this was the best treatment. At $2.60 a tube (generic brand) I can walk again!!!

Lemongrass Oil

Jock Itch:

What worked for me was lemongrass essential oil diluted into a carrier oil (best is squalane but maybe any will work). How dilute to make it depends on how sensitive your skin is, which partly depends on how bad the fungus is. At first, make it pretty dilute, like maybe only 20% lemongrass oil. As your fungus goes away you will be able to increase to 60% or even 70% lemongrass oil.

Apply it 4 times daily or more. If it burns like hell then dilute it more. It should burn just a little bit if your fungus is bad.

Coconut Oil

Awful. I tried coconut oil for about 4 days before giving up. It was about as effective as using canola oil. Basically any oil will tend to help a little bit since it deprives the fungus of moisture, but my fungus just seemed to go a bit dormant, then grow like crazy once it found any moisture.

Garlic
Posted by Rune (England) on 03/11/2018

Hi, I just tried the direct garlic application, I've suffered jock itch for years, god knows how many at this stage. Also had all the usual over the counter and numerous Doctor visits all giving the same result. The over the counter creams are for me, a complete waste of money. The prescribed creams and even oral pills work for the time you use the plus maybe a few days, then back to square one.

So I mashed up 3 garlic cloves in a desperate bit to even get a little relief, I applied them direct! I won't swear here but, the air was thick with mixed screams and shouted profanities!! Burning like I imagine Hydrochloric Acid would burn! I held out for only 5 minutes. At that point, I ran to the shower. Ice Cold water directed to the area, I stood about 10 minutes washing off the garlic.

This method should have a Government health warning,

I will check back in and leave feedback on the results as they happen.

Do not try this in the vicinity of anyone whatsoever! The screaming tends to scare even Hardiest of Marines!

Update to the second to last comment about salvaging shoes, I neglected to say the socks should be lightly soaked in the Citric Acid solution.

Which type of alcohol?

EC: Rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol. A common dilution is 70%. This is only for topical use.

Borax
Posted by Joel R (Pa) on 01/22/2018 17 posts

Hi Becky, I don't get notified of comments/replies so just randomly saw this because I wanted to add to my original testimonial by saying that I do think the jock itch is an internal and external problem.

The borax works externally for a while, but then the itch comes back after some hours. I found that if I fasted, eating only a bit of spirulina and glutamine, the itch would not come back. There is an antifungal diet (rather, multiple antifungal diets) which I may try (basically no carbs + some some other ideas), tho I need to do a longer fast anyway for some other issues.

Still, borax is the best that I've found. I have also tried alcohol now, and it doesn't work as well as borax--maybe on par with vinegar.

Now, you asked how I apply the borax. I dissolve it in hot water and then smear the water on. Then I rub some fine borax powder (i ground it up) onto that wet area as well.

The main thing is at night, while sleeping, I sweat a lot. So I keep the borax powder by the bed and apply it at that point, and it absorbs into the sweat.

If you are dealing with a vaginal yeast infection, just insert a full 0 or 00 size capsule with borax powder.

I've tried nearly every cure for jock itch so far (except rubbing alcohol). MMS just made it terribly worse. Coconut oil was doing nothing. Vinegar worked for some hours but burned like hell. Lemongrass oil worked longer but burned even worse.

Then I tried topical Borax. Not only is it extremely effective, but it doesn't burn at all! Why on earth are pharmacies selling all these lame antifungal creams that barely do anything, when Borax is the real solution? What is wrong with the way knowledge is spread in this world?

After 12 years of ineffectively dealing with athlete's foot fungus, it migrated to my crotch and so I made a full commitment to getting rid of it. It took two more years after trying many cures including ones on this excellent blog and also prescribed Lamisil taken internally.

The high points of my cure are:

- soak in a whirlpool bath that has a regulated anti-fungal solution (chlorine level monitored and maintained) for at least 10 minutes every day until the fungus is killed. If you have had the fungus for as long as I did, it is deeply embedded in your skin so it takes the chlorine a while to be absorbed adequately. You will feel the areas that are infested as they will itch while you are soaking. When the itching stops, the fungus has been killed. Repeat this treatment until the fungus is completely gone. It took around three months for me as it was deeply embedded. Chlorine has the benefit that it can actually kill the fungus and it's spores. Swimming in chlorinated pool suppressed my fungus, but wasn't concentrated enough to kill it off. Most other treatments cause the spores to go into a defensive mode that is very durable and will re-emerge.

- increase the acidity of the infested areas by applying a citric acid solution. Use a strength level of 1 teaspoon per cup of water. This acid is what is used for food products, can be ingested, is very effective and doesn't burn nearly as much as other options. This will keep spores from re-producing between whirlpool treatments. There are spores everywhere in your home if you've been infested for a while.

- wash your socks and underwear in very hot water for an extended cycle. Normal hot water washing didn't kill the spores of the fungus I had.

- toss shoes that are infested. If you have a really nice pair of shoes you'd like to salvage, you can lightly soak your socks and wear them in the infested shoes for a day. If this doesn't work, toss.

- clean your bathroom floors/shower/tub with a bleach solution to kill spores. This won't get them all as some will remain in bedroom carpets, etc. but this will get rid of most of them.

Ammonium Chloride for Jock Itch:

Dear readers, since I've got a lot of help on this web site, I'd like to share my success story with getting rid of this nasty and persistent fungus for good. This is actually a cure not just a treatment. I've tryied pretty much everything that's listed here plus many more. I've tried whatever I heard might help with jock itch. Had it for several years and anybody how's been in that situation knows how annoing it is. Hence the reason I am writing this to help others. The only thing that actually cured my jock itch was ammonium chloride. Dissolve one leveled tea spoon of ammonium chloride in about 50ml of water, put in a spray bottle and spray the affected area liberally twice a day. Don't dry it up. Let it dry by itself. Do it until simptoms disappear usually a few days to a week it depends how bad your condition is and continue for a couple of week afterwards. That's it. This will cure your jock itch, not just temporary releaf. And its widely available and it costs 50 cents. Good luck and God bless you all.

Sulfur Soap

Sulfur Soap for Jock Itch:

For years Ive had this terrible embarrassing condition. It appeard after a sexual relationship. THe doctor prescribed antifungal pills and pomade, it seemed to work but it came back.Rather than going back again and be prescribed a stronger antibiotic I decided to find a natural remedy. I believe it was a candida infection, I started researching changing my diet.. I tried all the remedies here at EC. Of all the remedies what seemed to work better was Olive leaf extract and EVCC orally. I stopped using soap and I took a shower everyday making sure I pat dry the area. I had it under control but the infection was still there cause I could feel that unpleasent smell after doing sports and If I skipped a shower I could feel it coming. Also when I ate too much sweets or grains. I happened to buy sulphur soap for my facial rosacea. It worked so good that I decided to use the soap in my genital area. and I'm THRILLED to say the smell is finally gone.

After one application it was gone. I have been using it 3 times now. My process is clean the area with hot water, apply the soap foam and let it sit for 1 or 2 minutes. I rinse off with warm water and finish with cold water. I'm so happy to have my confidence back. You can find sulfur soap at major online stores. Its usually 10% sulphur and it brings extra oils so it doesnt dry your skin much. Don't hesitate. I've tried everything and this works.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen Peroxide is Cheap and Effective for Jock Itch

Bottom Line on several suggested treatments? -each to their own!

I myself discovered Hydrogen Peroxide somewhat by accident and am most pleased with it. I merely wet my palms and apply to either side of the groin--no diluting necessary (for me). Gold Bond? Only tried it once with no satisfaction. I also use alcohol pads (meant for diabetics) as they're very handy and simple, but only as a temporal measure. A worthy observation too-- don't sleep under too many blankets so as to sweat overnight and thereby cause the problem. I personally find an H.P. 'splash' only necessary when moistness and itching is evident. But again, each to their own.

Dietary Changes

I tried rubbing alcohol and it worked -- eliminated jock itch that I had been experiencing for years. However, I still had to apply it regularly, once a day or once every two days, to keep it gone.

That said, for other, unrelated reasons, I switched to a whole foods plant based diet. After making this switch, the jock itch went away completely. It leads me to believe that either (1) something I was eating (eggs, dairy, etc.) was causing it or (2) something I was not eating but now eat on a regular basis (legumes, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts) has prevented the jock itch from returning. I recommend this strongly for anyone who has been struggling with jock itch.

Bleach, Apple Cider Vinegar

Jock Itch - Bleach, then ACV, then hair drier.

Use old, cleaned-out, peanut butter jars.

Mix 1 tablespoon bleach to 1 cup water. Label jar with Sharpee marker.

Mix 1 tablespoon ACV to 1 cup water. Label it.

Take 1/2 cotton-ball and rub bleach mixture all around affected area. Set timer for 5 minutes.

Neutralize bleach with ACV on 1/2 cotton-ball. Let sit 10 minutes, then dry with hair drier set on low or no heat from 2 feet away (don't burn them, ouch! )

Repeat 3 times per-day for a week. Although you'll see immediate improvement, keep applying three times per-day to eliminate problem.

I had jock itch for over 6 years. tried everything. the itching is crazy. tried listerine, tried creams, tried pills. doctors couldnt help.

Finally I came across some information on the web about rubbing alcohol and jock itch

I tried it and it works. It burns like hell the first few times but afterwards you immedialty feel the itching has dissapeared. Do it after you take a shower. dry yourself well with a towel and a blow dryer. then apply some rubbing alcohol. Wait for it to dry. Then put your pants on.

Haven't had any itch in 3 years. Sometimes just as preventive I still use it, it doesnt burn anymore I guess I got used to it.

This is the first time I've had jock itch. I'm 52 myself and tried the over the counter stuff. IT DIDN'T WORK! All it seem to do spread it more really made worse! Started reading on this site someone mention olive oil and garlic and someone also mention baking soda made a paste with that applied it did burn a bit but took the pain for 30 min. Like they said to do after the first it seemed to almost disappear over night did this for 3 days just in case also did the rubbing alcohol treatment two to three times a day by the third day it was 90 percent gone and was still fading away. Thanks for the insight. Men women do this it worked for me. by the way I also ate one glove of garlic a day like some mention kills it from the inside out.

Rubbing Alcohol

I have used rubbing alcohol to fend off itching in the groin, but it always caused a lot of pain. I don't know what was different this time -- concentration, something else on my skin (witch hazel?) but the pain was really bad. I tried washing it off in the shower, which helped but didn't eliminate the pain. I put on some healing cream and later tried some baby powder -- don't know if anything made the situation worse, but the pain continued and eventually I noticed signs of burning - the redness remained very bad, there was some blistering, sort of like a sunburn -- dry, crinkly skin that peeled and of course ongoing pain. Wish I knew what made the reaction so bad, but at any rate, before trying this popular remedy I would suggest testing with a small amount.

Lemon Oil

I suffered from jock itch after getting a yeast infection, which happened right after I cured my self from a BV with greek yogurt (it always works for me when I have a BV). Yes, I had a horrible time for almost two months. I could hardly do anything. I finally treated the yeast infection using apple cider vinegar after reading reviews on earth clinic, which worked like magic. However, when I applied diluted apple cider vinegar on my inner thighs, not only did it not work, but it got worse. I don't think the ACV is to blame. I believe this happened because when I rubbed an ACV-soaked cotton on the affected area, some fungus were transferred to the cotton ball, and then when I rubbed it on close-by unaffected areas, the fungus was transferred there, and started multiplying. So I stopped using the ACV, and went on to try other remedies. I went on earth clinic to check for remedies. I didn't have rubbing alcohol at the time, so I tried other treatments, but none of them worked. Some remedies had a soothing effect for a couple of hours but then the itch would come back. I tried coconut oil, tea tree oil, oregano oil, clove oil, peppermint oil, olive oil, ground cayenne pepper, ACV, and Aloe Vera gel, but nothing worked. Then I thought, I have to give rubbing alcohol a try. I can't live like this! So I went to the nearest pharmacy and bought 70% rubbing alcohol, but guess what! Not even the least effect!! I was so hopeless! What kind of fungus is not killed by rubbing alcohol?!

Anyway, next I went to my favorite natural remedies guide for a wide range of ailments. It is published by the Budwig Center. I looked for remedies for jock itch (since it's also caused by yeast), and one of the remedies they suggested is lemon essential oil diluted in a carrier oil, like coconut and almond oils. Luckily, I had both lemon and almond oils at home. I mixed them together in a 50/50 ratio, and used a cotton swab to apply the mixture on my inner thighs. It was amazing! I felt a bit uncomfortable for some minutes because lemon essential oil (and citrus oils in general) burn the skin and must be diluted before use. So I felt a burning sensation for some time, which I thought at first covered on the itchy feeling. But after the burning sensation stopped, I didn't feel itchy at all. I repeated for two more days, and now I am yeast infection-free!! I feel so grateful!
