Me and everybody in my family, a 12, 14, 9, 8, and 7 year old, got ring worm including the two family pets and we could not figure out how to get rid of it and someone recommended bleaching them with Clorox Bleach so have been trying it and the 7 and 8 year olds are gone afer four days of using it. the 14 year old and the 12 and the 9 year olds are somewhat gone so are going to keep using it but i totally recommend using the Clorox Bleach to get rid of ringworm it is the best and oo yea if your family pet has the ringworm go to the vet and get the pills for animals, not the cream, it doesnt work.

I got ringworm in the corner of my mouth. A bad place to get it. I have been using ginger on it. The ground ginger and the ginger root bought at Wal-Mart. Scrape the root with a knife apply to the ringworm. Then put on the powder. They say ginger has 23 anti fungus fighters.

Remedies That Didn't Work
Posted by GJ (Springfield, Ohio) on 01/04/2009

T3from Chicago, are you sure what you have is ringworm? I have a niece who was told she had everything from ringworm to dermatitis to eczema. Much like you she battled it for several years with it spreading to different areas of her body. Certain foods and heat and sun exposure made it worse. Finally one very alert Pediatric Rheumatologist recognised her skin condition as Skin Lupus, confirmed by a skin biopsy.

Remedies That Didn't Work

I took baths with the vinegar stuff and that didn't work, athlete's foot creme, not working, back to applying the vinegar. I do not have itching or dark rings around the circle, i don't see any white in between. Dr. said fungi, the ointment didn't work either. Now years later, no job or insurance still, I'm at a loss. Spreading more, now to my legs which, I do not touch the bumps then my legs. Now what about our insides, how are we being affected? I heard we need a anibiotic as well.

Mom thinks garlic pills everyday will help. If I can't reach on my back and the others do go away, I think it will come back. But when I took baths everyday in it, that didn't work anyway. It is ugly and embarrasing, can't ever let anyone see them. I also from coming back from FL started getting like heat rashes or bumps every time I sunbathed. I didn't have that in FL, or would I had I stayed. So I have 2 battles now and no insurance. I"m worried about my insides and my vision, is what I heard. I'm already half blind anyway, so this is not helping matters. Man, I stink of vinegar right now, everyone will be looking at me.

Fig Tree Sap
Posted by Mary (Chatsworth, Georgia) on 12/27/2008

You can't put that on if the skin is scaly and blistered already. If you cannot find a green leaf at this time of year winter how can you extract the sap from the fig limb? I took the antibiotics and the cream I did what the doctor told me. I am boiling the twigs and getting ready to put the liquid on the very infected area.

Menthol and Wormwood Oil

I had a spot of ringworm on the back of my hand, and tried treating it first with black walnut extract, which seemed to make it redder and incubate it more than anything. I then read about tea tree oil and tried that, applying it 3-4 times a day for a week and a half. This seemed to dry out the whole area, killing everything and seeming to take care of the ringworm. If I kept applying it, it seemed like the skin underneath would never heal so I lessened my applications down to 1 or none each day, and as the skin came back to life, it appeared as though the ringworm was rejuvenating as well, and not only that, but was now getting larger. I reverted to black walnut extract, which I'd forgotten hadn't really worked the first time, and had the same effect (seemingly spreading/incubating the fungus). I was getting a little frustrated after 2 weeks and no effects, so I tried ACV and wrapping the ringworm in garlic under a bandage for a night--in the morning it was as red as ever. Read about Absorbine Jr. on this website and got some from the pharmacy 1st thing in the morning. 4 applications a day for two days, it's now day three, and I don't want to be too optimistic but the spot is barely visible any longer and the ringworm appears to be dying out completely. There was noticeable improvement just within the first 12 hours after the first application, and each day I see progressive improvement, and no major skin death/drying out as with the tea tree oil.

Absorbine Jr. appears to be the cure my ringworm was asking for, and at $9 a bottle, well worth it. Thanks, Earth Clinic, for pointing me toward this.

(If for any reason this fails and the ringworm comes back within the next few days, I'll report back)

I had some problems with ringworm and found that Absorbine Junior worked within one day - I applied it and put a cotton boll over with tape, let it stay for a while. I have had no recurrence and that was 3 months ago.

Tea Tree Oil

My son was driving himself (and me) mad with his itchy skin patches, for which the doctor prescribed Cannestan, which is used for treating fungal infections, but has a steroid in it so can thin the skin. I wasn't very happy about it, but I would have done anything to stop my son's irritation. However, it wasn't working very quickly and I could see his itchy area spreading and going on for weeks and weeks. It was at this point of desperation that I found this web site and was astonished at the variety of natural remedies. I had some tea tree oil (diluted) in my medicine cabinet to treat spots, so I put it on my son and within days it was gone. I just put the tea tree on a cotton bud and spread it over the affected area, which was quite large. I have now gone out and bought a new bottle of tea trea oil for any future breakouts. I would try this again and would also try garlic and the apple cider vinegar.

I used the sap of a fig tree to heal my ring worm on my ankle. I had tried tea tree oil and it didn't work for me but the sap cleared it up by the next day! I used a knife to peel a piece off of the trunk and rub it all over the ringworm. It worked for me!

Selenium deficiency and anemia appear to the biggest factor of candida or ringworm. Silver mercury filling can deplete the body of selenium, zinc. This can lead to fungal infections.

Iron folic acid, b12 deficiency lead to anemia that can cause fungal infection.

I took:

  • 200mg selenium 3 times a day
  • zinc 50mg 2 times a day
  • folic acid 3 times a day
  • iron 1 a day
  • b12 3 times a day.

It doesn't take long for it to work.

Too much copper in the body can deplete selenium also causing fungus growth.

Urine

I haven't actually tried this myself but am quite sure it works, due to the fact that the fungus that causes ringworm is the same as athlete's foot. My reason for this conclusion is that my husband who was in the Marine corp from 94-98 was taught that if ever he was to get athlete's foot and could not get medical treatment to urinate on it. and he says it did work.

Garlic

i work in a medical clinic and contracted a ringworm from one of my young patients. the nurse told me to buy some otc antifungal cream and it would be gone in about 3 weeks. i have been interested in alternative meds for sometime, so i grabbed one of my books and read that garlic is antifungal. i bought a head of garlic, sliced a clove of it quite thin, applied it to the ringworm, covered it with a bandaid, and waited. now the chemicals in garlic will burn the skin for a minute or so, but after applying the garlic 3 nights in a row, the ringworm disappeared. i recommend this remedy to everyone. garlic works for lots of things.

Green Walnut Juice

When I was a kid and got ringworm my Grandfather told me to go get a green walnut off of the tree that we had in our back yard. He cut the walnut and told me to rub the black juice on the ringworm. I did this one time and the ringworm disappeared and never came back. This is an ancient remedy that originated in the european country of wales and was passed down to my grandfather from his dad. My cat recently acquired ringworm but I no longer live in my childhood home in the country that had the walnut tree out back so I went to the health food store and got some walnut extract which is diluted with 50% alcohol. It is working, after 3 or 4 applications but it's still not as good as the green walnut juice. It cured the ringworm with one application.

Menthol and Wormwood Oil

After 3 long years of pain, embarrassment and discomfort, I am happy to report that something finally worked for the ringworm that I had on my hand/wrist area. I have tried countless remedies (H2O2, turmeric, tea tree, clove, neem, lavender, oregano and other essential oils, etc.) I also tried over the counter, as well as doctor prescribed medications all with little to no improvement. I was told that my lack of success may be due to the fact that the treatments that I attempted were for things other than fungi, which is essentially what ringworm is, a fungus. I used Absorbine Jr. Original Formula (which seems to be different than other versions of the product), which is regularly used to treat athlete's foot itch, insect bites, etc. I had immediate relief and within a few hours, I could not believe my eyes as to the healing/improvement that took place. This is truly amazing: I can hardly see where the ringworm was before. Thank you very much Earth Clinic, I love you!

Light Bulb Cure for Ringworm
Posted by Mel (New York, New York) on 07/15/2008
★★★★☆

Ok, this is my second visit to your site, first one was when i was desperately searching for a cure.

I tried almost everything.
1. clotrimazole.
2. tolnaftate cream and spray.
3. Apple cider Vinegar.
4. Witch Hazel.
5. Rubbing Alcohol.
6. Bleech.
7. Hydrogen Peroxide.
8. Tooth paste.
9. Salicylic acid.
10. Vicks.
11. Mouth wash.
12. Hand-sanitizer(alcohol)
13. Anti-bacterial liquid soap.
14. Icy hot

I tried all the above mentioned items, plus a combination of some of them together as a foot soaking agent.

The moment when i completely lost it, came when I saw a second ringworm right next to the original one. ARRRRRR

I poured a little less then half a cup of bleech, half cup of rubbing alcohol, half a cup of witch hazel, half cup of ACV, and then as soon as i poured half a cup of hydrogen peroxide I heard a whooshing sound and saw bubbles and some somke :-) grin, I thought to myself this would kill the fungus once for all. I then poured cold water, just enough so that I could soak my foot fully into the small plastic bucket. I then rubbed the two ringworms with my fingers under the solution, and kept my foot under water for atleast 10 minutes. The skin peeled off from the ringworms, and the itching stopped. I went to class, and then after few hours, Itching came back. I came home, and I was furious, at the drug agencies and the FDA for creating creams that only stop the growth of the ringworm instead of killing it. (thats how you make money).

I then took a small night lamp in my room, with .10 WATT bulb, and turned it on. Once the bulb got hot, I started cooking :-) It hurt really bad when I started to roll the bulb on the ringworms, but the feeling of killing that nasty bugger overcame my own pain. I really burned the suckers good, the skin turned red, and the bulb was covered in some sort of mildue. Ringworms started flaking, and I kept going, until I knew that the ringworms were dead and were now burning in hell. The itching had stopped. It has been 3 or more hours since this experiment, and the itching had not returned.

The skin of course was red due to minor skin burns, and may even leave a mark, but I will accept it open heartedly because it is just on my foot, and it will be just another battle scar to my body collection.

Arrrrrrggghhh 142nd Pirates for life.

(Do not tell me that it cannot be killed; if it is living, then I will find a way)

Menthol and Wormwood Oil

My cat had ring worm soon me and my kids had it. Gentian Violet cured all within a week and there was no burning. apply daily. It is messy. No odor and will stain. BUT as a rancher I use it on my animals as well as my kids. and THERE IS NO PAIN. follow up with coritizone or anti itch and that should take care of it. Tip a q tip in and rub on it and then get a new one to rub the violet around it.
