I have been without symptoms of scabies for about 3 months. I had them mostly on my calf's my inside forearms also my face, eyebrows and hairline on my head. Mostly on my lower legs. My treatment was baths with one eighth cup dish soap plus one cup borax or baking soda or salt. I also used in the bath super washing soda which is something called sodium borate it is by far the strongest and can really burn. Also I used coconut oil a small amount goes a long way. And I got great results with the coconut oil or I seemed to. I would massage the coconut oil into the affected area. My recommendation start with massage coconut oil into affected areas run bath put dish soap in plus the amounts will vary baking soda up to 2 cups borax up to one and one half cups super washing soda (sodium borate) up to one cup and that is alot. Always start with a smaller amount and see how it goes.

Tea tree oil really works on scabies! I had tried just about everything over a 3 month period and finally relief!!! I applied it to the itchy parts a few times a day and at bedtime and it took a few days to calm down and maybe 10 days to completely cure. I still had lots of scarring and weird patches over most of my body. I treated these with lavender oil and they cleared up like magic! So don't give up - there is relief!

Orange Oil

a friend of mine had scabies and came in my house to tell me about it and even sat on my bed!!! (before she told me LOL)

she had welts everywhere and she had been scratching for days and it looked very uncomfortable!

i told her to try orange oil added into her bath water and also to make a mix in spray bottle of about 50 drops or so for 16 ounces of water.

she came back and told me that it had worked!!!

now she only came to me after she had been to the doctor twice and used the prescription creams and they didn't work - but the orange oil did.

WARNING: do not go into the sun after applying the orange oil - it photosensitizes skin (makes it easier to burn) so it may be better to use it at night which is what she did.

also, keep orange oil away from MALE pet rats. the limomene in it can cause them to develop tumors in later life supposedly.

orange oil is very cheap also and it smells good! although after using it for a while you may get sick of smelling the orange smell.

oh - and i immediately did and orange oil bath and sprayed the same mixture of orange oil all over my bed and in my room and had not scabies trouble myself!!!

I filled a 10 x 14 plastic laundry basin with a half inch of full strength laundry bleach-- then stepped into it-- then I rubbed it in to my skin--it stung--small white grains of sand started to come out-- these were the larvae of the crusted scabies--i intend to repeat daily for two weeks to kill them at all stages of development--then took shower--finally I applied the second tube of the 5% permethrin cream--slept with no crawling sensation!!! At least I know that bleach will kill these critters.

Did the garlic work for you to cure your Scabies problem really? People post all kinds of horror stories on here and it never seems like they finish saying what their outcome is? Does Scabies always get cured eventually?

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak
Posted by Craig (Windsor, Ontario) on 01/17/2010

I went through this as well. My doctor said I had dry skin and a cream would work. This didn't work. I had the red bumps and it bothered me at night the crawlers as well and in the heat I was itchy. After finding this site I found out that it was scabies. Now I don't know where I got it from and I'm a very clean person but there is a lot of cures out there but the one I like is the borax when I shower and a warm the bottle of h-peroxide in the shower, after I shower I dump the bottle over me yes it does sting for a bit but it kills them, always put clean clothes on after words put dirty clothes in garbage bag first before showering! My cure is as follows...Clean everything, you house including window curtains, sills and ledges, clothes and any one there will have to be treated as well. These things are hard to get rid of. You should put dirty clothes in garbage bags IE orange for dirty black for clean that way bags don't get mixed up, use disposable latex gloves when doing laundry as well never us the same gloves twice (re-infection is why) so throw them away each time, bleach all floors including wood floors as well, they will get in the cracks, steam clean furniture throw rugs and carpets, for the bed get a plastic liner to encase the bed, same as the pillows. Wash plastic bed liner and pillows, head boards, foot boards bed rails basically sterilize the beds each day, rubbing alcohol does not work so don't bother it only chases them away do this before new linen goes on each day, keep bed away from the walls nothing should touch the walls if you have pets keep the bedroom doors closed at all times they will have it to so they will have to be treated as well and possibly caged and Isolated sadly enough:( the vet will have something for them or a cure on this site. For both dogs and cats it called "mange" as well all their bedding or scratching posts collars even the leash and dog house, everything must be done. You can get over the counter stuff, the pharmacist will know what product you can use. (NOTE: BE CAREFUL OF THIS STUFF IT CAN BE DANGEROUS AND POSSIBLY ALSO SIDE EFFECTS, IT HAS A PESTICIDE IN IT, THE SAME AS RAID USES.) If you use this stuff use only once. Make sure you get under the toe nails and finger nails also your private areas basically cover your self from head to toe and don't forget the bottom of the feet inside the ears as well, right up to your hair line, ANOTHER TRICK IS TO KEEP ONLY A SMALL QUANTITY OF CLOTHES FOR EACH PERSON TO WEAR ABOUT 3 DAYS WORTH ONLY, THE SAME AS BED LINEN AND ALL BLANKETS MAKE SURE TO DO ALL JACKETS,COATS SHOES AND BOOTS AS WELL. If you have a basement cement floor and you put dirty clothes on the floor well you guessed it this has to be bleached as well. The scabies can't live off the body for more than a week or two but I wanted to be safe so I waited a month with double bag dirty clothes, wash all clothes in the hot wash cycle( a little borax in the wash doesn't hurt either) and dry on high for 25 min or more. The expensive way is to dry clean them but let the cleaner know about the infection first. You must be very "I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH ABOUT THIS" you must be very diligent about this or they will come back trust me Third time's the charm. Really it took me three attempts and experimentation to get rid of these things but 5 months later we're all free and clear of these little buggers and my family and I have never felt better. If you follow this diligently and to the letter I promise you this will work but don't skip a step. Good Luck. Craig

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I've had scabies for over 2 months. I've had 3 full body treatments with permetherin cream 5% from the Dr. It didn't work for me. I also tried one of the online treatments with enzymes and oil. It got better, but didn't go away. I started that after the 1st permetherine treatment failed. The combination didn't work either. I tried the borax/epsom salt/hydrogen peroxide bath suggested above - now that seemed to work, but I think the person who mentioned it could be toxic was right. I got the runs the next morning. I kept using it and it got much worse. I started vomiting too. I think it would work, but that was way too strong for me. I missed almost a week of work recovering. I found another one online that is the enzymes only and less expensive. This one also seems to be working, but I'm not getting sick from it. There was a big difference the first time. Hopefully, I'll be able to tell you in a week or so that it's totally gone. Another tip that someone else mentioned - avoid sweets. I'm borderline diabetic and when I ate a dessert or something, I noticed they were a LOT more active, and the # of bites went up. I felt like I was being eaten alive. I stopped eating any sugar, and it went down. So, that's my experience. Good luck.

I just recently figured out that I have scabies, so my boyfriend and I have been doing a slue of things both to ourselves and the apt to do a full cleanse and it has been going great. We've seen a significant reduction of bites, itching, and all that jazz.
Cleaning house/apt. we've been using a mix of bleach and water on the mattress, borax powder on upholstery that we vacuum off after letting it set for an hour or 2, anything small enough and un-important enough has been bagged and will remain sealed for at least 5 days, and as far as cleaning the floor we've been using rubbing alcohol and water. Rubbing alcohol kills the mites when they're host-less. As far as your other inquiry about how long it takes, well, we've been doing all this stuff for a few days and have seen significant improvements (sulfur scrub in the morning [Brimstone salt scrub from lush] followed by calamine and lotion, tbls applecider vinegar at breakfast and before bed, borax bath at night along with an anti-histamine. Itching less, fewer bites, and it's only been a few days.

Wanted to mention a piece most seem to overlook; I am using borax and peroxide; what a grateful being I am for it! But please realize there are welts and bites, and secondary allergic reactions; so often they persist and can keep the idea you are still infected, when you actually are free of the mites.

been using tea tree and neem oils topically if I am bothered between baths, I dry my bedding each morning, and clothes I wore the day before, and keep everything separated.... Best of luck!

Bird mites cannot reproduce without bird blood. They can feed on any blood, but need bird blood to reproduce. Get rid of the birds, ( I had one in my dryer vent with mites, and I was diagnosed with delisional parisitosis, before finally finding the cause) The doctors thought I was insane. Despite being very tiny, bird mites can sense your exhalation and will travel very very long distances to reach food. It was probably 30 feet of dryer vent and another 50 feet to reach my bed.

Try using Eno salts and Glyco-thymoline. The ENo will alkalinize the body, a teaspoon in a glass of water every morning before breakfast for 6 to 7 days. Then take a cotton ball soaked in Glyco-thymoline and put that on the parts that are affected. When it has dried, put 2 ounces of Camphorated oil (which is just camphor and olive oil) and 1/2 ounce of lanolin in a bottle. Bathe the body with a sponge or massage this into your skin. It wouldn't hurt if you drank a little bit of Glyco-thymolie in water once or twice a day either, 4-6 drops in water.

I would like to thank everyone who posted a cure for scabies on the site, you were all a godsend. I recieved some items, clothes, furniture ect. from a family friend who was cleaning out her garage. I also got bedbugs and scabies. We had no idea what was going on. I have four boys and they were scratching up a storm. I thought I was going crazy. We'd just switched detergents, so I thought that must be it, but it wasn't. When I told my friend about it, she was very concerned that we may have gotten scabies from her things, because she didn't think they could live that long. So I went to the dr. and she thought it was allergies too. But it wasn't and the use of the borax and peroxide soak proved it. I found a questionaire on another website, and every answer was yes. When I found this website, I thanked god. I combined 2-cups of borax with 1 bottle of peroxide, this into a full tub of water as hot as you can stand it.

For my children I used 1 cup borax and 1/2 cup of peroxide. I also decided to use the antibacterial soap. I did this because although we have all been afflicted with the bites, my husband hands and arms are totally clear. Where he works he always has to use the antibacterial gel, you know the inst-wash stuff. and he just rubs it on like lotion. So we've started using that too. Just in case anyone else thinks it might help. Good luck to all of you. We'll be taking bath #2 tonight, and another tomorrow. Then start again next friday. Also I'm gonna try the Diatomaceous earth powder. Have any of you ever heard of Dri-Die? It's supposed to kill bedbugs, and other creepy crawlies. Is it anything like DE? Thanks...Lori

Hopefully this will be posted because it really seems to be working! December 08 I started getting lesions all over my legs, back and head. I went to see my doctor and was told it was scabies and prescribed 5% permethrin cream,an anti bacterial oral med and topical steroid ,did NOT work! Also tried Ivermectin paste for horses (out of desperation,3 times)I did get what seemed to be a reduction in lesions but even after 12 Permethrin treatments it kept coming back. Dermatolagist said I was healing... just quit scratching. I came across a scabies blog where people were getting great results with soaking a half hour in 1 cup washing soda, dissolving washing soda (1) in 4-1 water (4), no rinsing and spraying floors, furniture walls etc. To my astonishment after 2 treatments my lesions are healing quickly and I think we got a Winner! The results are so dramatic I could not wait to post this, even if this is not a cure (to early to tell)it is worth trying. good luck fighting whatever super scabie or morgellons this is.

I think I have scabies. Possibly from a new coworker, who is always using hand sanitizer. I stumbled on your site and found many helpful tips. I tried tea tree oil and other oils, and the borax peroxide soak, somewhat helpful. I also greased up overnight, even with petrolium jelly (what a mess), and could feel little frantic strugglings. But tonight I used lemon juice straight, with salt, even mixed up a little for dabbing (dousing), and found it to sting wonderfully. It also revealed the true track marks and infested areas. I just wanted to post and let people know that the two most common kitchen ingredients are very good at killing the mites. I will continue with sea salt soaks/borax also, and the nightly castor/olive oil (gave up on essential oils, roommate... ), and will finish the bath with a lemon juice wipedown. Also, spot killing with my lemon/peroxide/salt/water mixture. I also mixed up a spray bottle of non-chlorine bleach (apparently lemon juice/peroxide/water), and will continue to leave a bucket of bleachy (chlorox) water with a rag in it for cleaning my belongings and surroundings. Iwanted to tell people about lemon juice and salt, basically. Thanks for this wonderful site, and all the brave people contributing their stories.

ok. real progress with salt today. I took a sea salt/borax/super washing soda bath with a little sulphur shampoo for twenty minutes, rinsed off and turned the shower off. Then applied sulphur shampoo all over and waited ten minutes. Then I rinsed that off and turned the shower off. Then I applied a mixture of salt, water, borax, and super washing soda and didn't rinse off. Then I went and did laundry in plastic bags. At night I am soaking with olive oil with a little castor oil or whatever. Tonight I might try mixing a little clove oil, but I'm still pretty burnt on my shoulders... I've been wondering if plastic bags might make things worse, and am considering using my dresser again (clean). Anyway, things are really starting to clear up, only a couple thin scabs on my stomach where it once was a big rash. My house has been sterilized fairly well, but I think my roomate is in denial and could slow this down. So, from clorox baths to lemon juice to borax to clove oil to salt and sulphur. We'll see... The winners are oil, salt, and sulphur/citrus. Good luck all.

so, I started taking a salt/borax bath (with a few drops of tea tree oil), and then rinsing off. Then taking meat tenderizer and mixing it with warm water and applying it all over and letting it sit. Ten minutes and rinse off. Next, sulphur soap ten percent, ten minutes and rinse off, warm water. Then, lemon juice all over, ten minutes and rinse off. Also, scrubbing with the green side of the dish scrubber. This seems to really kill them. I also have been using oil with a smaller amount of clove oil in waking hours. Leave it on as long as I can stand it. This seems to work also. I am also trying to get some 5% permethrin through some form of doctor. My other thing is sea salt dissolved in a spray bottle for all day body spraying. Things are getting a little better. I might try lice shampoo permethrin 1%, but I don't want them to build up resistance.

so, I started spraying myself with clove oil in water, which burns and makes me cold. It seemed to help. I also have been using lice shampoo. I just leave it on after drying after a bath. But tonight, I mixed up some sulphur powder with petroleum jelly, mineral oil, olive oil, and clove oil. I put this on after letting the lice shampoo dry. I also ordered 10% permethrin liquid from a pest control supply, hoping to mix it with petroleum jelly, and avoid doctors altogether. The sulphur cream I made is still on right now, and it feels pretty good, like it's working. Will keep updated. Also have been using meat tenderizer with water after (sea salt/borax/clove oil) bath for five minutes. Also straight lemon juice. then rinse.

I realize this is an old post but for those with the same question: if you don't have a bath, get a little container plastic, metal, or whatever and mix the solution in it. Use a small facecloth or any piece of clothing and soak it in the solution. Then scrub the saturated cloth all over to apply the solution. Repeat to keep body wet if it dries out fast.

I am pretty sure they ship internationally and they are very affordable. The sulfur ointment is a little grainy, I imagine it is the sulfur powder and petrolateum already made up for you. Very few ingredients. My son and I have been using it daily and no new bites, fingers crossed.

Thank you Ted, for your answers, when dermatologists are in denial, you are a God send.

I believe I have mites burrowing into my scalp and skin. Bumps/bites become itchy, I scratch (try not to). Then I end up with tons of bites/scratch marks on my arms, legs, chest, back, face, nose, and scalp. I have had this for approx 2 yrs now and have tried many remedies. Nothing has eradicated the mite. Sometimes I feel I am reducing the problem, then out of nowhere I end up with a new set of bites. I always seem to have more than one new bite in an area of my body. I have colored/bleached my hair for over 20 years. When I color/bleach my hair once a month, the bleach formula is extremely strong and is left on my hair for 30 mins. I can't help but wonder why the mites, at least the mites on my scalp don't die when I bleach my hair? If the strong bleach/peroxide formula doesn't kill them, how will borax and peroxide kill them? I recall that the initial itching began over two years ago when I went swimming at the beach and just let me hair dry in the sun, didn't shampoo until the next day or so. I have been reading voraciously to try to identify whats biting me. Some kind of mite seems to be most likely. My mites are white and look like a grain of rice but much, much smaller than rice. I would be forever grateful if you have any helpful information to rid my body of this parasite.

Sincerely and Thank you

how to get rid of them near your eyes: coconut oil smothers them and is safe to use around your eyes and on your face. Also, hydrogen peroxide is safe on your face if you use it on a cotton ball. Be sure the excess is out of the cotton ball before you dab it around your eyes. HP is a pro-oxidant so I would recommend it for just a few days each week.

Hi all, I hope this helps someone. I am tramatised in Philly and have been battling this SCABBIE mite for 3mos. I used a few things in conjunction. First know your enemy this mite likes to nest in paper, anything poreous(sp)curtains, rugs, books, unfoRtunatly humans, as we who are suffering know. So trash anyhing in your house made of these substances, it especially likes to lay eggs in your bedding. I threw out almost all of my belongings and minimized everything. I went to kmart and bought twin fold out iron bed frame(100 bucks) and a swiss blow up mattress (43 bucks) one allergy fitted mattress cover to protect against microscopic pest. I purchased xtreme clean, medicated wash and salve and pest dust from Q base solutions on line. The dust should be fine mist throughout your home, it smothers the mite and strips its skeleton and that of its eggs, I also put it on my body to smother any emerging mite. Neutrogena acne prone skin body wash and scrub has acid in it and I found that it flattens out those bumps and heals the skin. Use vitamin e oil to help repair skin. Eat as much fresh cloves of garlic as you can stand because it is a natural anti parasitic and it will also help to fight off infections. Eat alot of fruit and veggies for the vitamin c to keep your immune system up, its needed against this bug, Wash all your bedding and clothing everyday. If you can, after a bath coat yourself with petrolium jelly and add tea tree oil which kills their egg cycle to keep them from breeding in your home. Fine mist that dust in your bedding too and on all hard surfaces(not too much because you dont want them walking on it) you want to choke them out. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!!! dO NOT TRASH ITEMS UNTIL YOU GET THE DUST, if you disturb any of their nest they may come after you and you want to protect yourself. Use the dust in your car because the mite goes where you go. I hope to God that this helps someone.

Yes the bugs did come back because they lay eggs and the eggs hatch. I had to scrub with borax everyday for about a month. I also only wore clothing once and washed the sheets in hot water. I also bought food grade diatomaceous earth and put the dust all over my house and skin. The itching has finally stopped. I now actually think they were bed bugs instead of scabies but both are very pesty bugs and produce the same type of itch. This all happened because I took in and slept on an old bed mattress from my parents friend. I got rid of the mattress and will never do that again.

Hi taking neem leaf will make it so the bugs can not reproduce. No more eggs no more bugs and it will stop more than just bugs from reproducing. I took 6 cap a day and the bugs over time went away. The neem leaf will not kill them only keep them from reproducing.

EC: Is this a scabies or lice remedy? Not sure... thanks.

think i may have found a way. i have been suffering for almost 18 months now and have tried the creams and soaps. i haven't takin the pill yet casue my doc won't let me. sayes it may be too toxic. so what i did was took a soda bottle and messured out to equal sections on the bottle and marked them. then i took bleach and filled it up to the 2nd line and the rest with water, or a 1 part bleach and 4 parts water. then i sprayed my whole body from top to bottom. the first night i didn;t feel anything in the lostest time. secound night was great too. i woke up in the morning and noticed 3 new spots on my arms and a couple on my legs. i mixed the bleach again and then did it the night after. its been two weeks now and haven;t have a singls bite yet. i did do it a couple more times a total of six times in a 3 week period. aside from washing my cloths and bedding as much as possable. i also sparyed my mattress with the bleach/water once a week. i really think i might be rid of them and hopefully for good. seeing as i have no idea were they came from i hope to never run into them again.

I had my first bleach bath last night and no more crawling feelings today. The scabies were mainly on my scalp and chest. I dipped my hair in the bath for a couple of minutes as I was laying there. Then I aired dried and an hour later I had a shower. I had secondary scabies after not treating my scalp the first time (benzyl benzoate) I have tried everything. It looks like the bleach works. I will need to continue baths every 2 or 3 days as I will need to keep up with the new batches of eggs that hatch until the population is down. Fingers crossed

This is for Umatha and her post on Scabies. I know what you are going through, my husband and myself had scabies several years ago. I thought I was allergie to Lobster, as I had just been to Maine and had eaten Lobster for the first time, and I had lobster everyday for about a week. Was alarmed to find out we had contracted scabies while on this trip. We used Oregano mixed with olive oil so we could cover our entire body, this did help, but read later that DMSO used especially when the break out first occurs works wonders. You might want to try DMSO, but be sure you put it on only after you have bathed and have no other medication on your body. Be sure to wash your bed linens, towels and clothing each day with ___Natural Enzyme Cleaner until all sign of scabies are gone. Good Luck & God Bless God

Kleen Green works. Google it. It is an enzyme spray that dissolves their hard shells. I got some a couple weeks ago. You need to take shower and then dry off well. To one ounce of the Kleen Green add 7 ounces of water. Spray everywhere, all body crevices including your naval, ears, nose, genitals, (because if they can hide out they will.) Leave the spray on for thirty minutes, it is worth it, just stand there in the tub. Use the spray all over your hair too. You can leave this on. It is totally safe. It is organic and only made with 4 enzymes.

BUT you have to do this twice a day, along with washing all your bedding, clothes etc...

Make sure you also bathe your pets with it. They can also carry this and then you get it back again and it keeps on going.

To Dianna from Austin, TX

Thank you for posting the orange oil remedy. I have been battling with scabies for about one year, used different remedies and cleaning and washing. I used permethrin 5% x2, recently I did 3-day sulphur cream. It seems that I'm not cured! I ordered orange oil and mixed with aloe to 10%. May you post on how many times do you apply the orange oil a day? Do you make the lotion 10% to apply on the body? and how long did it take you or your friend to get rid of it?

I put 1 1/2 bottles of ___ Citrus Mouth Wash into a tub of warm water, and soaked myself for 10 minutes, completely immersing myself from head to toe, including hair. Afterwards, I dried off with towel. No rinsing needed. Then I put generous amount of perm all over my body, and left it on for 14 hours and rinsed everything off the next morning. I also washed all my sheets and comforter and towels daily in hot water, extra hot dryer. Clothes was treated in same manner, after every wear. it's worth it, even if the clothes shrinks. REPEAT for 2 days, or 3 days if still feeling creepy crawllys.

I think I am cured, I hope I am cured. This was by far the worse thing that has happened to me, and thank god for this website, or else I wouldn't know what to do.

When scabies are worse the next day after treating them. It is a sign you have disturbed their nest and they're fighting back! Think about when you step on a hornet's nest. They attack. Scabies are the same. They want you to stop putting poison on them so they go wild. Don't stop treating. Keep going!

OMG, I'm not going to tell Bobby what I discovered this morning or he'll freak out and get more stressed out. He's doing fine and only has a few bites left, but I discovered this morning that I have literally THOUSANDS under my skin!!!! I'm trusting the Lord totally on all this as there must be a reason for it all. It's not true about what the doctors say and the stuff you read on those medical websites about Scabies - it's not that easy to cure. Even on the Mayo Clinic website. If you want to know the TRUTH about his stuff, go to https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/scabies.html and read all the horrible, disgusting stories of these poor people's experience with this. I posted my experience on there too and am continuing to update the process that I am following so that it might help others too. I don't want to talk on the phone about this as I don't want Bobby to overhear me.

Bobby initially got hundreds of bites just from those first initial 3 bites that he got from me while I was feeding him. But with the process I'm using to treat him, he was 50% better after the first day, then 75% better after the second day. Last night he only had a few spots left on his face. Thank God. I am wearing gloves at all times and long-sleeve shirt and long pants so I don't spread it to him. I was pretty confident that mine was nearly gone because I only had one bite left. Then this morning I decided to put the hydrogen peroxide all over my body just to see if there were any more hiding somewhere. My upper right leg showed thousands of little red spots, also both of my upper arms and front legs. I even had them on the tops of my hands! I freeked out. OMG. Prayed. Calmed down and just dealt with it. Now I realize that those bites that I could see on my skin where where the bugs initially burrowed into my skin. They stayed under my skin and burrowed all over like moles laying eggs everywhere!

So, I asked myself, why is Bobby doing so good and now I have this. These have probably been here all along without me knowing it becuase my process was a little different from his. The process I used was to put the hydrogen peroxide only on the bites, wait for about 5-10 mins - as long as I could stand the stinging/itching, then get in the hot shower, and clean up with peppermint soap, then cover my body with the non-itch formula (coconut mixed with tea tree oil and peppermint oil). Then resume my day and do the same thing in the evening. I wasn't putting the hydrogen peroxide on my entire body because I didn't SEE any bites. Also, I would wash off the hp in the shower. With Bobby being paralyzed, I could not wash his off, so I just left it on then put the co mixture on his entire body. THAT WAS IT!!!! I needed to keep the hp on my entire body and not wash it off. I took a video of my leg so I could show this to others who are going through this. So, I put the hp all over my body, took my shower, then put it all over my body again, then covered myself with the co mixture. This seems to be working better now, but won't know until tonight. If the red spots lesson, I'll know that I finally have the correct procedure to follow. If not, and it is worse, I'll need to call my doctor and ask her to prescribe the insecticide (Permethin) and just do it as much as I hate to have to resort to that stuff. What choice to I have. I also learned that you MUST treat your entire body, even your head, face, ears, private area - everywhere, because when you put the hp on, they freek out and look for a place to go where it is not on your skin!!!!! I'm praying that I won't have to use the Permithrin stuff, but I am getting desparate to get rid of thes awful, disgusing things. I will run out of sick time in about another week, so much find a way to get rid of these soon. Here's some good news. Yesterday I was so exhausted I didn't think I could make it through another night getting up every couple hours taking care of Bobby. Today I feel much stronger - thank the Lord. I also lost over 5 pounds so far with all the workout of taking care of B obby, constant cleaning/sanitizing everything in sight, etc. You can't beileve the toll this takes on a person. Please keep praying for us. Thanks.

Update 8/19/11. Contining to use the clove oil. Going on third day of treatment and for me they are 85% gone, for my son, 90% gone! Thank God. Will continue this treatment until gone. Read that you are still contagious up to 10 days after the last bite is gone! Be careful. If you get infested again, just hurry and apply the clove oil treatment and it will not get very far. Keep up the cleaning for at least two more months to get all the eggs out of your house becaues they can cause reinfestation even a year later! Just read all the posts from people who have been there! Thank God we finally have a way to cure these.

My son is suffering from Scabies only on his face, neck, and head, so don't believe this OLD understanding of Scabies. Scabies in the US has become more verilent and resists many of the drugs dermatologists still prescribe. My husband has been treated with Scafbies for 3 weeks with these drugs and is only 10% cured. My son and I discovered the latest research on this in Austrailia about Clove oil, w hich kills the adults, larvae and eggs in 15 mins! But takes at least two weeks of continued treatment to get them all out of your body! Mix 1 part clove oil with 3 parts extra-virgin coconut oil (or olive oil) I'm using cococut oil because it has other needed benefits to keep the bites from becoming infected. After 3 days of treatment, I'm 80% cured and my son, who is paralyzed, is 90% cured! Thank God. Also read about other's experience with using clove oil at: http://www.topix.com/forum/health/scabies/THU ...

I found eucalyptus oil to be quite a potent natural insecticide. I have read it fries small insects such as fleas and head lice and so far appears to have stopped the scabies. It doesnt irritate my skin. I think essential oils work but perhaps take a bit longer than the chemical based treatments.

Diatomaceous Earth
Posted by Peggy Sue Chan (South Houston, Texas, USA) on 08/17/2009

To Helpplz: I buy mine at a feed store, 50 lbs for $21.00. It's real name is Diatomite Silica. You can buy it at nurseries and garden centers, too, but for far more expensive. We drink ours. I don't have hot flashes when I drink it. I took several tablespoons twice daily, and the next day the flashes quit. I vacationed in the Carribbean without air conditioning for two weeks, and the flashes still didn't happen.

I also quit having gluteal hamstring pulls--I have no idea why they quit the day after I began taking the silica. I'd had them for 5 years previously, as long as I'd been running. However, four months ago I changed my running form from heel strike to forefoot strike, and the hamstring pulls never recurred, even without my taking silica. Strange, but my knees and ankles quit hurting when I changed form, too.

When I quit taking silica, however, my hot flashes returned.

I can't tell what else silica did for me because I am not aware of having any other health problems.

I buy DE online, it's cheapest. You can also buy it in the stores locally like health food stores and feed stores. I also buy my DE at the Tractor Trailer Supply Store. They also sell horse paste that people use for scabies but don't tell them you're buying it for yourself. They sell other things there that will help kill your mites. I buy the grey animal type of DE, it's not refined. I use it for my environment and my dog and my body. Internally I use the whitish type which is refined and for human intake and externally. The animal type you can consume too and it's a better quality but it seriously tastes like dirt. I can't drink or eat it. Gross!

I got scabies once in high school. I went over to a friend's house, and they had it all over, pets, and people. What I did was cover my skin with a thick oil. The type I can't remember now. I then covered the area with plastic wrap. I left this on for two days. I reapplied oil when it soaked in and added new wrap when the other got all messed up. It went away.

Papain does seem to work! I was reluctant to put meat tenderiser on my skin but I've experimented with mixing it in with hair conditioner, salicylic acid and the papain and massaging it onto the skin and leaving it there for a while. it doesn't seem to cause any damage to the skin, although I still have dense regions of scabies under my skin

My wife and I have scabies. Hers is worse than mine but I have had mine much longer - 3 years this month. She's only had hers for 2 months. I enjoy your site and have tried some of the remedies listed there with the following results: Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide Soak - no help. Oregano oil and Liquid Soap - no help. Peppermint Soap - no help. Will try Pokeweed root tonight and let you know if that helps. All of the remedies tried made us feel really clean when we used them, but the scabies and itching live on. The doctors can't help us so we are counting on a natural solution to our problem. Thank you for your web site and for all the people who have contributed.

Enzymes for Scabies

To those of you who think mites cannot be transferred between humans and animals, I'm sorry, they can. We got our initial infection from some chickens-not a scabies mite, but a rat mite according to the lab at University of Texas who tested ours. There appears to be some mis-labeling due to the spread of different kinds of mites. Also, keep in mind that your local vets and docs do not know how to deal with the unknown mites- they are only used to what their books tell them. You cannot see them without the aid of bi-focal glasses a good magnifying glass. This type of rat mite lived in some washed blankets I had stored in my huge closet for over a year! When we got them out the next winter,we were all itching like mad in less than 30 min. and had to get up, strip everything and take a shower. They have killed my mom's parrot (ate thru his ears into his brain), and my sister's dog (infested a cat bite in his throat and the vet said it looked like a tumor, only 2 months after the bite). When my mom got tested, they sliced a piece of her infected abdomen skin. Under the microscope it only looked like many bits and pieces of mites, but mites. We infected our 4 pomeranians, even tho the vet said they could not get them as they were taking Revolution treatment once a month. We do not have scabies, according to the books, but it looks like scabies. Its itches like scabies, and it spreads rapidly. On the dogs, it looks like mange around the eyes and mouth. If I had not had two adult males in denial, I could have already rid myself of them. Ps, I am currently taking 2 tsp of curry powder each day to keep them from biting me as I am extremely allergic and break out badly. If I get into an infested area, they will get on and crawl around and itch a little until I go shower them off with borax and H Pero. At least I am sleeping nights and no more sores, boils, infected areas. I am taking curry because it has a high concentration of turmeric and was all I had around the house. Started working after the second day. One website for spices said turmeric has been used topically (on the skin) for scabies. Best Wishes, and thank you Ted for your kind advice.

Hi there, I was just reading through your page and got a lot of helpful information from all of the posts. I have scabies intensely on my wrists, and a very small out-break on my netherands. Now, I had gone to see my doctor abut the condition (knowing already what it was (that's right, this isn't the first time) he prescribed me the same medication as before; NIX Topical Cream. Now, this worked absolutely wonderful the first time I came across scabies. However, it was only today (four weeks after my first application of the NIX Topical Cream) and now after applying the same cream for the fourth time/bottle/30g each) my scabies still haven't gone away, and I find out that the scabies mite just might be immune to the treatments? Well, that pissed me off as you could probably guess, and $120.00 later (not including cleaning supplies and time). After reading the posts, I immediately went (stomped) to the washroom and ran my wrists under HOT water to open up my pores and then pulled out the hydrogen peroxide, and started rubbing it around on my wrists, WOW, I'm not sure if it felt soo good or soo painful!?!? Anyway, after I applied it, there appeared to be a lot of bubbling. I waited a minute or two and then washed it off. I then applied a Zinc Oxide Cream used for diaper rash and skin irritation. The burning from the peroxide soothed away, but as I'm typing to you now (5 minutes later after all of that) I appear to have a yellow transparent discharge in the area of the rash on my wrists. I'm sure it will be okay though. The reason I used Hydrogen Peroxide is because I use every time I get cold-sores (fever-blisters) on my lips. And I found it worked the quickest and without scarring. Instead of developing a big blister on my lip, if I applied the peroxide at the first sign of the cold-sore, the swelling went down almost without even a scab. I would apply it with simply a q-tip, about 3-4, 5 times daily, for one or two days, the discomfort of having a cold-sore goes away almost after the first day, and the feeling of relief feels sooo nice. I'll write again to tell you how well this works, side-effects, and how long it takes if it does. I still have a feeling that this might have been a bad idea; I don't care anymore at this point. I can't afford it or stand it anymore. Hey! The bright side is, I haven't cut off my hands yet *laughs* Thanks, Steve.

Hi Steve- I have had your problem before & know how intense the itching can be. I don't know the topography where you are, but if you know what poke sallet (also known as pokeweed) is, the root of this plant is boiled in water, cooled enough to apply to the affected areas for scabies. At the times I had the problem I didn't know this, so have not tried it personally. I have eaten poke sallet and have taken poke berries for arthritis problems, so I can tell you that the plant is not likely to kill you. My next younger brother (now 72 years young) did tell me about his grown daughter came to him with the same problem of scabies, asking him what to do. Since I had told him about using the root for this purpose, he dug up a root, cleaned it, boiled it and gave her the water it was boiled in to lavishly apply it to the affected areas. He laughed as he told me about how it worked. She told him that "it set me on fire" but got rid of the scabies in one application.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I was using the HP and get "burned" so stopped. Start using the ACV and "burn". start Borax, burn part of my face, neck and chest but I did not stop the borax treatment.

After 2 months I tried the h2o2 and the Apple Cider Vinegar again just to see what happen. Surprise, didnt burn anymore. For me the burn was the killing of some fungus. In a normal healthy skin I guess dont do that. I am free to use it again.

Ok the person telling ppl they cant get burned from peroxide. There's always someone trying to INVALIDATE another's experience. There are different strengths of peroxide skin types etc. and many outcomes possible. For instance, Diatomaceous Earth might have worked great for some but there are many different type of mites and solutions are not always one size fits all.

I had bought some hydrogen peroxide from a natural store. It turned out to be 98% HP. Well I'm glad I didn't get any on my skin. At that concentration it is used as fuel for engines. Be careful with the concentrations of HP you use. @ high concentrations it is ACID on your skin.

I don't think I have scabies, yet. I found out my niece was on the street for like 6 months. I brought her to my home a few weeks ago. No a lot of physical contact which is good, turned out she has scabies. I did wash all her sheets. I have given her 2 Nix treatments. Her friend can only afford 1 so I will pay for the second treatment for her friend.

I am allergic to most medications. I've tried the sauna heat. I am going to try a hot bath with HP, Borax, Japanese Mint Oil (Like Vick's) and then cover myself with hydrogen peroxide and then smother myself & the mites (if I have them) with Vaseline.

At least the first week my niece stayed at a friends house mostly. And I traced the source and how they have been playing (ping-pong) with this scabies for the last 6 months. Pray for me that I just have Hypochondria (not Mitochondria - sorry for this really bad pun, scabies ain't fun! ) from googling all this scabies information and not actual scabies...

I having been viewing Earth Clinic for about a year now looking for more information on scabies. We have had a severe infestation for about 1 1/2 years now. My husband came home with a hunting dog a friend gave him. He told him it had red mange but it turned out to be sarcoptic mange, we were clue-less. Anyway all of our dogs caught it, we have 9. We used the borax and peroxide to start with because I never use chemicals on our dogs, even thier shampoo is all natural. As for the humans in the house, I have been covered with scabies from the start the boys and my husband have bites but nothing like me(is there a reason for this?). The guys took over all the animal care to keep me away from the bugs but I still get them off the laundry and if one of them come anywhere near me after they have been around the dogs, the bugs get on me! This has been a nightmare for over a year now. The family Doctor put us on permethrin cream and the Vet had the dogs on tac-tic (very poison!) We had been using the cream for months and the dogs had went to pro-late, sulfur dips and others, all poison. I have had dogs very sick for treatments and we have twitching eyes and just feeling ill and the last Doctor visit were givin Stromectol (thats ivomec for people). I have tried for months to figure out why we were unable to get rid of these things!!! My Vet and Dr both were treating us and the dogs but no one ever said anything about our horses and cattel!!!! Also mice rabbits and other varmints that may be here and there. My husband has been setting live traps for a week now and has caught 8 opossums just around the barn at night. We had no idea, neither have ever had mange or scabies and don't know a thing about them. Recently I found something that has worked better then anything else I have used. This is the first time in over a year that the front of my legs and thighs and my face have been clear! I would like you to check it out, I think it can help alot of people. I did have one problem with it, I was carrying a small spray bottle around with me so if I felt a bug on my face I could spray it (it would stop it dead in its tracts) but my face and other tender parts of my skin were getting a little raw, I looked sunburned. I was using it alot more then I really needed to but I could not take these bugs running across my face and getting in my ears anymore. Its a pesticide-free formula that contains enzymes from plant sources. It kills head lice too. I found it at my health food store. I don't want to give the name but I have never seen it in any of my web surfing. They do have a web sight www.s-e-a.net you can check it out and decide if you want to share this with others on your site. This stuff has been wonderful for me, its giving me my life back. I don't sell it and have no interest in it other then using it. I really hope this can help others, its been a long horrible journey for me!!!

Pack all layers of steps 1 through 4 all at once. This method takes care of the first treatment. It must also be maintained. I found sulfur soap for ($1.37)look on-line first because not all stores have the Hispanic isle. And Salicylic Acid for acne should help reduce the bumps that still appear after the mites die. Hope this helps!

I am currently very itchy and feel all the creepy crawlers around my body, which is how I got to this site. I have many bug bites that are small, some are bigger but much smaller than mosquito bite. I just don't know if is scabies? or rodent mite? or bird mites? I use tea tree oil on my body bc is the only thing I have available at the moment I don't seem to have any immediate relief, now I just concerned that the smell of the oil is too strong for my baby. I have to buy all the other recommendations as soon as possible. I am currently nursing so I am just praying my baby does not get these things. Is driving me crazy. Just wondering, has anyone ever being helped or got rid off by going to a pool (it has chlorine) or the beach (have salt)? I will try the pool tomorrow since I can go with all my children and not worried about the chemicals. I will post what treatment works best for me. But anyone with children please any recommendations will be helpful. I have a 7year old 4 year old and 10months old. I have seen a few bug bites on my seven year old not the other 2, but I am still concern specially about my youngest.

Craig has been the most right on, honest response I've read and identified with. I've been dealing with all sorts of "natural" treatments for months now and I seem to finally be learning whats happening, especially after reading his thoughts and experiences.

I have found the best success making a water spray with MSM (sulfur) which I cover my whole body with, let dry into white crystal form and wait for about 30 min and then cover my body again with clove oil mixed into coconut oil base. My mix is pretty extreme but I dose it up with about 140plus drops in 3 oz coconut oil. It seems to get rid of the itchy irratation and cause all the bumps to stop growing, no trails after a couple days of that. The bumps I do have all end up more of a sore with a small scab (bugs crawling out?! ). However, almost two weeks after doing this I started slowing up on the intensity of treatment (just doing it once in the morning and once before bed instead of staying covered all day) and all of a sudden I got attacked again. I did change some things like diet, got slack and ate a pint of ice cream, also got a sandwich with lots of cheese on it (i don't think wheat or dairy or sugar is good for me already).. I was also using tea tree oil after a shower, before a bath in epsom salt and sometimes clove bud tea concentrate in the bath.. Sometimes I cover my body with betonite clay for a while before this epsom salt bath.. Sometimes I grind oatmeal and water and add that to the bath. I did start exfoliating the couple days before the outbreak again which I stopped, that was just a rough hand mitt all over my body which felt good but may have disrupted something. Maybe it was good and I had to get the deep down suckers out. I'm back to minimal itch and not so much new bumps but still have these bumps and also notice some of the brown "moles" under my arm pits like craig was saying might be deep down burrows?

Either way, I think it's right on to get into better diet routine. My thoughts are maybe the eggs didn't die and all hatched about two weeks after a sulfur mineral springs bath I went to.. Not sure but would like others feedback.. I feel pretty intuitive and can figure out what is going on when I learn more about the life cycle.. Its just getting down to it and getting absolutely rid of these things.. I had high hopes but couldn't seem to get rid of them all before this last outbreak. I think if I keep up with the clove and coconut oil and sulfur spray however, hopefully I can catch and kill the eggs hatching before more eggs are laid?!

Craig: If you read this, i'd like to know how things are going for you, seems like you left that comment in January so it'd be good enough time to know if they are gone for good or you are still dealing with it.. My email is motabike(at)juno.com for anyone who wants to share useful info or needs more info from me.. Thanks
