Manuka Honey Sinus Rinse

After reading numerous posts on these forums, I tried using manuka honey in my sinus rinse. I noticed a difference almost right away. Within a couple weeks, my polyps actually DID shrink and saved me a trip to the ENT guy. It is not cheap, but it is cheaper than going to the doctor. The effect is rather pleasant. I am hoping that longer term use will help me recover some semblance of smell and taste senses. James

Hi Anjomac. I do think nurturing the good bacteria in the gut is important. I believe they control the fungus in their vicinity, so there are no cavalry left to charge to the nose after the Eosinophils have won their battle and the irritations to the nasal lining stop. Before I formed my theory and after the last round of useless antibiotics that the specialist prescribed, I did have a lot of Organic Yoghurt (12% sugar) that contained acidophilus, bifidus and casei cultures, to help repopulate the bacteria in the gut. I have sworn off Antibiotics ever again, that is definitely a bad move, except of course if they are needed to save my life. Beer is best in moderation (Aussies love a good BBQ - just don't eat the pavlova :) and can only say an occasional social beer doesn't impede the cure and I doubt if it has any bacterial benefit. Reduce sugar to 5% of product though and the curing starts at the exact same moment. Let me know how you go. Give me a month or so too and I will make a post about curing my sore foot, suffice to say the cure will contain the word "barefoot" a lot. Good luck.

Brian, Thanks for the info on eliminating sugar for nasal polyps. I had come across this the last time I had bad polyps and had completely forgotten when I got this round. This got me looking into it again. In addition to reducing sugar and starving the candida, it seems that you need to increase the Probiotics (lactobacillus acidophilus?) in your system as well. Maybe that's the beer in your diet doing its work. I'd be interested to hear about your foot cure as well. Thanks

Hey Timh, Thank you for the info about ACV tablets, I didn't know they existed. I do now believe that ACV does help a person to lose weight when on a sugar reduced diet, as you alluded to in your previous post, but that is not my intent. I am 5'7" and only weigh 55kg and would rather be putting weight on, not off. My only intent was to get rid of Nasal Polyps and I have done that no other medications, potions, lotions nor the dreaded operation, just reduced the sugar and it was a done deed 4 weeks later.

Your comment about "sugar suppresses immune function substantially" supports my theory about feeding the fungus that causes that (via the Thyroid causing Hypothyroidism, which is an underactive Thyroid function, which is whereby the immune function is reduced and also a Vitamin D deficiency both of which I was diagnosed to have had, by my doctor). Thank you for that. Anyone else reading this thinking where is the Thyroid anyway, picture it as a very small double handed grip around your upper wind pipe.

As for natural sweeteners and considering that fungus don't care what type of sugar they are being fed or where it comes from, the weight of an average teaspoonful of table sugar is about 4g, 1 tspn each of honey is 5.7g of sugar in 7g (81% sugar) and molasses is 3.7g of sugar in 6. 7g (55%) both of which are more or less the same as a tspn of table sugar and therefore no reduced sugar benefit whatsoever. Both of those products are definitely over my preferred limit of 5% and absolute limit of 10% sugar content. Artificial sweeteners I avoid like arsenic. Just Google "stevia good or bad" and your head will spin where to look first. If it was good, why is bad even an option. Cheers.

Brian, some supplement co's make ACV tablets but not many distributers it seems. Swanson has regular and double strength ACV tabs. So don't give up altogether and try and find some ACV tabs down under.

Also worth noting, studies show sugars like high fructose corn syrup not only make triglycerides to be stored as stubborn fat, but also suppress immune function substantially.

As for natural sweeteners ---honey, blackstrap molasses, and stevia are favorites.

Hi Timh, All I can say is the headline that Earth Clinic allocated is a bit misleading. It should have read "Eliminate sugar to eliminate nasal polyps". I am in no way claiming that "no sugar" fixes everything. I had no other medical conditions except for nasal polyps and a Vitamin D deficiency (and a sore foot which I cured myself but that's another story) and the avoidance of sugar all on its own cured my polyps and restored my well being. I did not take any other pills, herbs or supplements along the way. Except I did take apple cider vinegar for about 2 weeks for first time when I went "no sugar" so yeah, maybe that's why I lost too much weight then. But the second time I went no sugar I didn't have any ACV at all (the taste is terrible and I had totally gone off it) and I still cured my polyps but didn't lose any weight. Crikey, Timh, the penny just dropped, sounds like we just discovered the best ever easiest natural way to lose weight (no sugar ACV). Thanks for that.

Hi Carly, Thank you for your nice comments and also your thoughts. To address the grocery items raised, an average size 200g potato has 3g of sugar (1.5%) and the packaged chips I buy from the freezer section at my supermarket (to heat up in the oven) has less than 1g of sugar per 100g on the label so I will assume even fried chips from a Fish & Chip shop or even McDonalds would be about the same. The pizza I buy which is also from the same supermarket freezer has 4.7g sugar per 100g (or 4.7%, which is under my 5% limit). I have found it impossible to find a sugar content for beer but will run with the thought that although sugar is introduced for fermentation, it gets converted to alcohol, so there is no sugar.

Starches and fats I don't care about (except Trans fats that I really do prefer to avoid). I have targeted sugar as the only food source that feeds the fungus that cause the polyps. The first time I went "no sugar" I was 56kg at the start (and had been diagnosed with a Vitamin D deficiency by my doctor, which was the only problem he could find that I had, so that became part of the jigsaw puzzle that I put together) so I was already thin anyway but had a bad case of polyps. I scarily bottomed out at 52kg before I reintroduced sugar to regain weight and am currently 55kg and the polyps are gone again. A net sum of 1kg loss in weight hasn't destressed my body and eliminated the polyps, it can only be the sugar.

Hi Brian, Interesting post. I enjoyed reading it. One thing though - I have always been told that eating potatoes, pizza (dough and suace) and drinking beer was about the same thing as eating table sugar. The body metabolizes starches like sugar.

I don't see where you really cut out sugar much if you were eating those things. Maybe eating better over all caused you to lose weight. Perhaps being thinner put less stress on your body, allowing your immune system to work better to get rid of the polyps?

Just a thought.

:-)

For many of us (I being one), elimination or avoidance isn't enough as the disease process and aging can be debilitating. In the severe category one would need to eliminate and avoid sugars (as much as possible) and become proactive in treatment applications.

For the burning of sugars, take ---B Complex Vit, Minerals such as Vanadium and Chromium in particular, herbs like Cinnamon, Gymnema, Mulberry. ACV is also proved sugar burner. With this combo, positive results would have to be present. Oh, also Alpha Lipoic Acid is good glucose burner.

This totally natural cure has worked for me, twice. I think it will work for others too, maybe not everybody but at least some. It is so simple, costs absolutely nothing, gives you back your health, your vitality and libido, your sense of smell and helps you to control your weight all at the same time. It gives you back your life.

In one sentence, all you have to do is cut out as much sugar from your diet as possible. The more sugar that is cut out, the faster the healing. It is that simple. I cut out the sugar, cured myself but lost a bit more weight than I wanted to. Having declared myself cured, reintroduced sugar to my diet to help put weight back on, which I did, but the polyps came back too. I am currently off the sugar again, polyps have gone again. Twice cured with the same reasoning is enough proof for me that this works.

I did not want to have a medical operation and went looking for a natural cure. I turned Net Detective and researched nearly every website on nasal polyps to gather clues to form a theory. I have absolutely no medical qualifications whatsoever and the theory I am about to outline is just that, my own personal theory. Here we go.

The root cause of nasal polyps is not bacterial, it's fungal. The prime suspect is Candida Albicans, which everyone has to some degree. The good bacteria in your body assist to control bad fungus. Which is why antibiotics don't work because by killing all the bacteria in your body, including the good bacteria, there are none left to control the fungus.

Fungus are extremely clever little critters. They feed on sugar and produce Ethanol as a waste product. The Ethanol confuses the receptors for the Thyroid which tell it to shut down production of Vitamin D. A Vitamin D deficiency weakens the immune system and causes lethargy. Lethargy increases cravings to eat more sugar for an instant energy boost and the condition then compounds as the fungus population grows and prospers.

But wait, there's more. A white blood cell called an Eosinophil goes in to battle the fungus but with a weakened immune system, they fail dismally to win the fight. It seems they act like suicidal cluster bombs - they go to the foe and blow themselves up to take out as many of the foe as they can. When this happens in the nose, they irritate the nose membrane, the cells in the membrane fill with fluid and voila, there they are, a medical case of nasal polyps.

Operations to remove polyps, nasal sprays, potions, lotions and nasal rinses only remove the symptoms temporarily and they are not cures. The cure therefore, is to break the cycle by removing the food supply to the fungus, which is sugar. Ethanol levels thereby diminish, the Thyroid receptors kick start the Thyroid into production of Vitamin D again, which then improves the immune system which then assists the attack of the Eosinophils to win the battle of the nose.

Okay, so that's my theory. I'll admit it may not necessarily be entirely accurate in the finer details but having said that, the one thing I am sure about is that reducing sugar in my diet has eliminated my polyps. I haven't discussed my theory with my doctor, fearful of being either laughed out of his office for being ridiculous, or being thrown out for being too close to the truth and cutting out a source of his wages, and the wages of his expensive Ear Nose Throat Specialist mate who gave me useless antibiotics.

It is impossible to remove all sugar as nearly all foods have it to some extent. Just try to reduce it as much as possible so at least there is no excess for the fungus to frenzily feed on. An obvious deletion from the diet is white sugar added to coffee and on cereal - don't add sugar to anything, totally delete that option including any and all sugar substitutes. Also cut out completely ice cream, cakes, biscuits, chocolate, lollies, honey and fizzy drinks. Even fruit - I have exchanged apples and bananas for raw tomatoes. On packaged foods and drinks, I won't buy anything with more than 10% sugar content. There is usually a per 100g contents list on the package, just look at the sugar level and if it's more than 10g per 100g, don't eat it. The preference though is for levels below the 5% mark because the more sugar that gets deleted, the faster the healing.

From going no sugar, the time taken to full recovery for me on both occasions has been about 4 weeks, with every passing day getting better and better. As an added bonus, you can save a fortune on tissue paper let alone the costs of sprays, potions, lotions and the big one, the operation.

I lost weight dramatically the first time but not this second time. At a guess my metabolism has adjusted to derive more nutrients from real foods rather than depend on sugar. My diet now is fresh meat (never packaged), poultry, fish, bacon and eggs, vegetables (including fried potato chips), milk, bread, nuts (especially almonds), pizza, strawberries and cream. Even beer is okay. It's a bit like a caveman diet, but with benefits.

To conclude this post, as a suggestion, if anyone is willing to take my "no sugar" theory up, from the day of their decision, to start a daily diary and keep a record of least their weight and a degree of difficulty from 1 to 10 to breathe through the nose during the day and also the night before (1 would be very easily the nose, 10 would be mouth only). Count tissues used if you can, that would be a fun number. Some feedback would be nice as this is the first time I have shared this idea on the internet. Good luck.

Just a follow up:

The sinus rinse with the neti pot has been doing it's part. I went to a homeopathic web site, and put nasal polyp into the search box. It brought up three homeopathics for control of nasal polyps. I ordered them and have been taking them for over a month now. My sinus creates half of the mucus it would otherwise, and I can always clear it out at the beginning of the day.

Hi,
I am a polyp sufferer myself. I have been doing several thing and I must say, I am much better. These last three days I have had a bad cold, but I find that I am still breathing through my nose when it would have been 100% blocked previously. I wanted to ask you how you are doing with you diet, I have been reading a lot about yeast lately and how some doctors consider it a cause even for cancer! Thanks

Put 2 teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar in a large coffee cup, along with water. Heat until it steams, then inhale the steam. Clears up sinus problems, but I don't know about polyps.

You can also put 2 tsps of ACV in hot tea and drink it. Tastes a bit like what lemon would taste like but instead it has apple flavor. I do not recommend ACV from the grocery store because it has been filtered. Buy the ACV from a health food store that has the "mother" in it (non filtered). I use store bought ACV (filtered) for hair rinse and rashes. Stings lightly at first, but then fades quickly and no itch afterwards. Great for dogs too, since fleas hate ACV.

Anyway..try the steam with ACV and inhaling, but be careful to not make it too hot so you burn yourself.

Helminthic Therapy

Helminthic Therapy

Recurring nasal polyps are very debilitating. I have reversed them without surgery, I can smell so well now that shampoo can give me a headache.. I can smell soap.. I can properly taste food.. And I feel generally great. This was my method.

I am a 30 yo Australian male. I have lifelong asthma/allergies and ibs/polyps for almost 10 years. I have dustmite, shellfish, milk, dog allergies. I believe this life/medication has also led to some poor mental/energy levels.

I have been a lifelong user of ventolin/steroids, and have tried butekyo method, linklater/yoga breathing, dustmite desensitisation, giving up milk, giving up meat, staying indoors, travelling, airpurifiers, vitamin d (only 1000mg/day).

I had 7 bursts of prednisone last year.. And a bunch of other stuff along with surgery to remove polyps from all my antrums. However, the polyps quickly came back.. And nothing stopped them. I was soon twice daily rinsing with 2xNasonex up each nostril twice a day. Didn't work. I was then going against regulations (but on doctors orders) by squirting pure budesinode respules into my cavity's to hold them at bay.. Didn't work. It seemed only 25mg prednisone would hold them at bay, and only temporarily. I decided my life was doomed to misery.. misery I won't go into in case you are eating food.

When I heard about helminthic therapy I thought 'what bollicks! ' but I researched it for 7 months before believing there was a chance it may help (despite there being no published case of the therapy helping polyps).

In early June, I applied 35 hookworm to my body.

Within two months, my smell had come back a little. My surgeon had done an MRI scan and expected me to present in misery.. But I was fine. I cancelled myself from surgery (which is -free- in my country). But my symptoms returned, so I panicked and booked in the surgeon again. But soon I could smell even better than before!

After that first two months I even reduced my medication down to one spray of budemax in each nostril twice a day, along with a rinse. (Many days I've have only done the medication/rinse once, or not at all.. due to travel).

My smell started to go again, so I gave up milk since I have a slight allergy to it (this made my eyes really white). My smell came back very strong.. I can smell the aussie spring right outside my window. I can feel my nasal rinsing making it's way deep into my sinuses. I am about to cancel my final appointment with my surgeon.

IBS no longer causes discomfort. My asmtha/allergies are reduced, I've cut my seretide dose in half, I don't feel hyper-responsive to the elements anymore.

The hookwork haven't technically cured me, the disease is still there. But I think they've altered my immune system so I'm less hyper-responsive and therefore I'm less inflammatory. Thefore, they allow my medications to work much better, and allows my stomach to dissolve important nutrients better in the absence of ibs symptoms. I can also exercise more effectively (or at all).

Also, in my laymen understanding, nasal polps have an enzyme called chitinase present, which is something our body only uses to destroy helminths/hookworm which are made of chitin. But because we don't have hookworm anymore, our body seeks chitin protein elsewhere.. Such as dustmites, fungi, shellfish etc etc. My theory is: your immune system attacks the helminths, the helminths release an enzyme to reduce the presence of chitinase, or otherwise calm the immune system, therefore reducing the ability for nasal polyps to form (see this link for further info: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21711963)

Anyway, I've sent in a further 45 hookworm which will mature in another month or so. I plan to eventually have about 100 depending upon advice.

I think the real test will be how I feel, say, 4 months after my final dose. I'm confident I'll only get better and in which case I'll go public with a video or some such thing.

Going to get back to smelling the roses.

Tim

(p.s. I've been spreading this message in some nasal polyp forums.. Such as on the open yahoo forum for helminthic therapy, if you'd like to google for that)

After reading threads about bloodroot I decided to give it a shot. I had just run a course of steroids for my nasal polyps, so having a clean slate, was a great time. For the last week I have been using the following concoction in my neti pot: 1/2tsp salt, 12 drops of bloodroot tincture, filled to 3/4 with the hottest tap water, then topped off with H2O2.

I have been using this once a day, and my sinuses just don't appear to be producing a fraction of the mucus. I am unsure if it is to drying, but drying of any sort is a vast improvement.

Multiple Remedies
Posted by Anne (Senlis, France) on 10/11/2011

Hi everyone,
Well, it has been months now that I have been reading EC and investigating on the internet how to cure my polyps. First of all let me tell you, I have allergic rinhitis, asthma ( take a cortizone inhaler every day), and polyps. The first time the polyps attacked me was ten years ago. I had partial blockage and complete anosmia. The Nose throat, etc specialist gave me a corticoid that did NOTHING at all. That really made me angry because I was breast feeding at the time and was not aware of what was inside the spray. Amyhow, the specialist said I needed SURGERY! Alarmed, I turned to my Homeopath who gave me a treatment that gave me back my sense of smell. I was very happy and forgot about the whole thing...

Last Febuary, after a severe nose cold, the polyps attacked again. This time completly blocked on both sides. It was horrible! I couldn't sleep because everytime I relaxed, I choked for my toungue was sucked my the vacum effect of breathing only through my mouth, for there was absolutly NO air coming in through my nose at all. I suffered enormously, my state of mind deteriorated for not being able to sleep and I became sort of depresed. The GP gave me cortizone spray wich I refused to take. I started to attack with megadoses of vitamin c, ascorbic acid and went o an homepath. The blockage went away after about 10 days.

After that I was breathing again, but still I had the appointment with another spcialist in the uk. I thought the problem was gone, but the moment he saw into may nose he said I had an "enormous" polyp on my left nostril and surgery was needed. Needles to say, I was very disappointed and sad with the news, but still, I was breathing through both my nostrils... A couple of months after that, the polyps came back stronger, bigger more resistant, the day of my birthday and for no apparent reason. Complete blockage again, no sleep, fast deterioration!

Then I started a regime of many things that I investigated and have been working great! First urgent thing was to get rid of the infection and clean the sinuses. How to do that especially if nothing was coming in or out of my nose?

I started taking MEGA doses of ascorbic acid powder, up to "bowel tolerance" (please check http://www.vitamincfoundation.org/).I went up to 40 grams a day! Also, there is a breathing system developed by profesor Buteyko. With one of his exercise I could unblock my nose long enough to risne with salt water four to five times a day. This specific Buteyko exercise consist in blowing the air out of your lungs and gently moving your head until you cant take it anymore, then start breathing takeing short breath, provoking a slight sense of suffocation, to create CO2 wich will open the nose pasagges for a short time, enough to do the salt water rinse. This sounds brutal and it feel even more so, considering that with this illnes we are already suffering from suffocation, but it works! After four days of doing this, the polyps ceased and I could start getting air in through my nose again. This was end of june, scince then I have still batteled with this polyps, even with an homephatic remedy sold on the internet that "declares a battle of sinuses" but that di not work for me. But, following the Buteyko technique, the ascrbic acid protocol and four other important practices that I will describe, I have been able to CONTINUALLY breathe ONLY through my nose since... Breathing ONLY through the nose is one of the BUTEYKO pricipals to avoid overbreathing or hyperventilation.

A recomendation I can give right away and something that I have been practicing since july is, taping the mouth during the night to avoid at all cost snoring and mouth breathing. I know when you have polyps this is torture, but it is an essential practice to start getting better! The more you breathe through the nose, the less blockage you get and the inverse is also true.

I have bought two books of this technique and I have paid an expensive course to learn how to breathe correctly to reverse and STOP my asthma and my rinhitis and to reduce my polyps. I have also started "Autohemotherapy" and oil pulling. "AHT" is a thecnique where you take blood from your own vein and imediatly reinject it intra muscularly, in the arm, leg or buttock. There is a lot on the internet about this, look up DR. Louiz Moura from Brasil on youtube. After I started the breathing exercises and tje autohemotherapy six weeks ago, I have reduced my inhalers to more than half, have had no need for releiver, my postnasal dripping is gone and I dont need to blow my nose but once or twice a day if any. I continue to take 20 grams of ascobic acid daily and also take a b suplement, iron, selenium, zinc, iodine for my thyroid. Chloruro de magnesio salts, 20 grams diluted in 1 liter of water, take a 3 oz. daily. I also do a "Castor oil pack" some days a week. I am feeling great today!

My plans are to reduce my polyps considerably by the end of this year, but so far I have acheived complete unblockage, and I feel that I am actually healling myself. I do Tracendetal Meditation 2 times a day and a 30 minute brisk walk in the park. I haven't taken at any moment ANY allopatic medicaments. I give thanks to God to put this challenge in my life, for I am dedicated to heal myself in a Holistic way and be in better condition than before.

I feel like I just hit the jackpot with this website. I am at my breaking point with allergies and sinus problems. I had sinus surgery in april 2010 - for a few months, things were great. I started allergy shots in June 2010. Since April '10, I've had about 5 infections, for which I take an antibiotic/steroid mix. this is WAY better than the 1 infection every 6 weeks I was getting prior to surgery. but I am still stuffed up 90% of the time... The allergy shots haven't done anything so far. I am still taking allergy pills every night, and even use afrin when I just can't take it anymore.

I started bikram yoga in jan. '11. I believe this has helped tremendously. Being in the heated room really opens up your nasal passages but obviously we can't be in a 105 degree room 24 hours a day. I dust like a crazy person. I wash my sheets at least 2x a week... What really sucks is that if I take a sip of alcohol, my nose immediately closes up (and I love wine!! )

I thought about asking my Dr. about the interpolyp steroid injections, but I just don't want to put any of that stuff in my body any more!! My husband and I are planning to start a family soon, so I want to have all that junk out of me before that happens.

I am going to try some of these home remedies and I PRAY that something will work!!! I refuse to get surgery again, as it was obviously not a solution.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIPS AND ADVICE!!!! I'll let you know how it goes... :)

Its been 3 weeks since starting to treat polyps: allergy identification is crucial. My nasal rinse is 1/4 tsp sea salt, 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp glycerin, 4 ounces of thyme tea (just brew thyme like you would any kind of tea for 10 minutes and strain), 28 ounces boiled distilled water. We use a dropper to put squirts in the nostrils, 3-4 times per day. Once in a while we add grapefruit seed extract 2-3 drops to the ounce. Excellent results!!! The thyme tea is antifungal, antiviral. Also has tannins. On Essiac tea also, brewing it at home for little money.. Its no big deal to brew small batches.

The big winner in herbs is this invention of mine: 3 parts tumeric, 3 parts ginger root, 1/2 part horseradish, 1/4 part goldenseal. (example: 3 teaspoons each of tumeric And ginger , half a teaspoon of horseradish , quarter teaspoon goldenseal) All powder forms. Capped in 00 capsules, 8-10 a day. Cheap to do if you cap your own; you can buy this stuff and the essiac tea herbs at "years to your health" here in the metroplex, or online. I have no affilliation there, just been buying there for 20 years. They ship. Husband says the herbal capsules are a huge help. The food testing is great, and for sure he is eating correctly combined foods. (no protein with starch, etc. )He feels awesome and has lost 14 pounds.

1st of all, thank you all for sharing your experiences and self experimentation. I too have suffered from 25 years of nasal polyps - if I knew then how this would effect my quality of life, I would have cut off my nose. I have had 1 surgery, enjoyed a sense of smell for around 6 months and breathing for a couple of years before the polyps returned. After nasal sprays and on and off Prednesone, I was about to go for the 2nd surgery when I came to this site.

So far, I have tried just about every suggestion here. To summarize -

Hydrogen Peroxide 3% - made my nose burn like crazy and bleed, but seemed to reverse the growth - might be a solution if you can stand the cure.

Sinus Wars 13 - seems to dry me out, but no shrinking of the polyps. Still taking it as it doesn't seem to hurt - been on it about a month now.

Manuka Honey - nice honey, bit expensive and might be beneficial to a nasal infection, but didn't seem to shrink the polyps.

Nasal wash - clove oil, salt, baking soda, warm water - helped to clear out some nasal congestion and like the HP 3%, it burnt like crazy so didn't look forward to those washes.

Tea Tree Oil - Ta Da!! It is now about 2 weeks since I started treatment, and I was really hoping this was the one. It doesn't sting the nasal pasages, but it does make me cry as it gets near the eye ducts. Well, the polyps are not gone yet (they started out as really large pushing my nose out and coming out into both nostrils) but I now have days that I can breathe out of my nose! Just like nature intended :-) I am really hopeful that the polyps will keep shrinking. Initially the polyps fought back and enlarged, but after a few days, they started turning to another consistancy and then shrinking. This was not a few days solution for me, but weeks - keep it up every day (qtip with the Tea Tree Oil up the nose several times a day, as mentioned on here - Thank you! ).

That plus - no alcohol and no coffee (both are important to quit so please just do it - drink tea but not Tea Tree :-) and Exercise - so many people are saying that on here, and it is so true. That keeps the gunk flowing. Drink water, of course.

My theory is that there are several causes of these nasty creatures - dry nasal passages, allergies, fungus. They probably have different cures too depending on your cause. I believe the Tea Tree Oil keep the passages moist and probably kills the fungus too. Avoid whatever allergies you have as best as you can too, because all of these cures are based upon letting the body heal. Best breathing to all!

I am just beginning to help my husband with his newly diagnosed nasal polyps. His right side is completely blocked, so he is having ear trouble too. My approach includes diet, cleansing, herbs, and homeopathy. Diet plan: I let him have one food at a time, fruit, oatmeal, chicken soup, plain yogurt.. (no junk! All organic! ) and would ask for reports of more or less stuffiness. Grapefruit made him stuffy.. Poor guy, he's been eating grapefruit every day for 10 months. Then I had an idea: why not use the simple test used for homeopathic remedies for food too? So: first I had him hold his left hand out, with his thumb and middle finger pressed together. I say, hold strong, and then I try to pull them apart using my two index fingers. His test was weak, I could pull them apart with little resistance. I had him hold a package of oatmeal over his belly button for a count of 8 seconds. Tried the test again while he still held it there. Strong like bull! I couldn't pull them apart. Ok, oatmeal he can eat. Tried the grapefruit. His hold came apart like wet spaghetti. No more grapefruit until he tests strong for it. The I went bananas, testing him on all sorts of things. No more coffee, beer, cashews, etc. He did fine with organic pinot noire wine, but weak on another red wine. Unfortunately, he wanted to test ME on my gluten free cookies... Sob... But I tested strong for coffee.. Yea! I could test him for anything, really, I had him hug me and he tested super strong! (thank goodness) The theory is if a substance makes your test strong, it is good for you, if it makes your test weak, then its not. Allergies can be tested this way. For free. Let me know how it goes!

My 5 yr battle with nasal polyps also ended with the elimination of grain from my diet. I also eliminated seed oils & replaced them with animal fats. Adding 1000 mg of ascorbic acid to 8oz of hypertonic saline in the form of nasal irrigation seems to help.

I'd like to testify on behalf Bloodroot.

I myself have just used the very Black Salve sold by the above mentioned gentleman, who had been jailed, chased out of the country, harassed and kidnapped for making the original Black Salve, so effective, it removes skin cancer in a week.

His name is Greg Caton, his family still operates in Equador, under Alpha Omega Labs.

http://www.altcancer.com/

http://www.naturalnews.com/027750_Greg_Caton_FDA.html

The Black Salve I received from him, removed 5 cancers from my face, out of which one was on the tip of my nose. The salve does not harm the skin in the 12 hours it has to be kept on. It causes rosiness, similar to the effect of dry-brushing.

But it instantly reveals cancer, causing it to become black, as it is literally eating it away, until it becomes a black stub and falls out.

I've done my research before getting Black Salve, and decided to do it after finding the video on Youtube about the lady who had enough of being butchered by doctors, and who's nose cancer healed perfectly, leaving no scar.

That is because by cutting, the cells are mutated. The Black Salve on the other hand, removes the harmful cells in full, leaving the healthy ones untouched, and the body takes care of the healing process, just like it does when you fall and cause damage to your tissues.

Black Salve removed a green pea size of malignant tissue out of my nose, leaving me with a hole. But of course it instantly started to fill up. Right now it is completely filled up, and there still is a flat little scab on the top of my nose, which I'm patiently waiting for to fall.... especially because I haven't been outside for two weeks :)

The important thing is not to remove the scab, but wait for it to fall off.

So on whatever problem you may apply the Black Salve, don't panic when it starts removing malignant tissue, it is the best surgery you can get, and it will heal just like any other wound heals on your body.

My Best to Everyone,

God Bless you People

I have found instant relief for nasal polyps ( and inflammation of sinuses ) in the form of taking 2 fish oil capsules. I was listening to a documentry on the radio about the importance of OMEGA 3 and realised that I hadn't taken one for a while. I popped 2 and I the reaction was astoundingly fast. I felt less itchy and less blocked up in my nose. The reason the polyps had reappeard was because I had drunk some cows milk the day before. The best treatment is diet. Cutting out refined sugar has done me wonders. Cut out sugar ( this means honey and syrups and everything sweet except some fruit and stevia), as well as to cut out wheat and dairy and it could help you too. BTW they are not Polyps as such, they are actually swelling of the membrane. So when people say they have have "Blown a polyp out in to a tissue" I kind of wonder. I have had 2 operations to remove them and both times they have grown back. But the diet and suppliments have helped amazingly. The swelling is inflammation and omega 3 has a calming effect on the bodies inflammitory response. This is why I guess it works. I believe SUGAR is the culprit for much of the western worlds ailments.

Thanks for the opportunity in the form of this amazing website.

How much castor oil? I would run to the store right now but its after midnight, I can't breathe, my head is pounding, and I am about to give up. I sure hope this works.

Anti-Candida Diet

Hello I wanted to share with all those suffering from polyps, sinusitis etc. Like most of you mine is an on going saga of surgery to remove these things, visits to doctors, homoeopaths all types of medical people. This had been part of my life for over 15 years. I hadn't had a sense of smell for about 10 years and always a blocked nose, it just became part of who I am.

This enlightening book showed me that almost all allergies are caused by an underlying problem of sugar. Too much. Candida being an almost certain trigger to allergies. This includes of course polyps which are just an allergic reaction as you all know.

I cut out what the book told me too including all fruits and of course sugar and processed flour items and dairy. The next day I could smell again. Also got new pillows and new mattress with cover and wash these regularly. This and living with floor boards instead of carpet has helped too. I no longer have a chronic sinus problem. I do still have blocked ears, well, blocked ear usually and some other symptoms of allergies. However you all know how depressing it can be to be constantly blocked up, so to not have this problem I have felt much, much better. Although I am a true believer of all these wonderful remedies I also believe that it is more important what don't ingest rather than what you do. That is change the diet, it is the only way to get to the problem's core.

The book that helped me was called: "The Allergy and Asthma Cure" by Fred Pescatore. A real turning point for me in my endless pursuit of feeling 100%. I had never heard of the author or the book until I stumbled upon it on the net.

This site is great BTW I am trying the bi carb / ACV remedy and finding myself getting a bit addicted to the feeling that bi carb gives your mouth after placing a pinch on your tounge and swishing it around your mouth. It feels almost you've just had your teeth cleaned by the dentist. I have to limit it to 2 times a day.

Sylvie, I have collected Bloodroot previously and have also been driven off by the disinformation. The older generation in my native Apalachia used it for many ailments but I fear it has been lost. The man in who was taken in Equador is very interesting.... Did he routinely make herbal medicines? I'm sure this would make him a target as the codex alimentarius was supposedly passed in the UK? Also, did he list ingredients on his salve? I make my own salves and would be very interested. Thanks for the post.

Bloodroot does NOT harm skin tissue, in fact it is quite the reverse! I used a blood root salve on my Mother's skin cancer and it removed it within 3wks and without any scar tissue whatsoever. My friend had the same type of skin cancer and much younger than my Mother, however she chose to have a Doctor remove it and now has a horrible scar about the size of a 50p coin. It is quite deep too, so compare that - a 40yrs woman left scarred opposed to a 99yrs old woman with no scar? The article on the blood root herb was a disinformation article clearly. I bought this salve from a man who was quite recently, mysteriously dragged onto a plane literally by 'men in black' in Equador and he has never been seen again since?!

Hi All

Having suffered from a return of nasal polpys follwing 2 bouts of surgery I consulted an Ayurvedic doctor and have found this regime really succesful in shrinking them and giving relief. I hope it helps some else as this is a really debilitating condition.

Eat 5-7 raw Basil leaves before breakfast and again before dinner

Get a fresh turmeric finger and hold it over a tea light until it smokes. Make a paper cone and inhale the resulting smoke thru the nostrils to relieve congestion and discharge mucus.

A teaspoon of castor oil taken for 4-7 dys also helps.

Avoid sugery foods and diary products as they feed the condition.

Do some yogic breathing exercises every day.

and the very thing is to make a steam bath as follows

Put several broken Basil leaves and 4 crushed garlic cloves in a basin of boiling water. Add a pinch of turmeric. Put a towel over your head and inhale for 20 mins for real and lasting relief if done daily.

Hi Daniel, I bought my Castor Oil in Whole Foods (formerly Fresh & Wild). It is organic, cold pressed. I have to say, to this day, my nose is completely unblocked. I am doing so well - my confidence is back, no more brain fogginess, sleep well and my nose doesn't look swollen like a professional boxer's one anymore! I wouldn't like to post my email address here, however, could you give me yours and will gladly send you my details. Good luck with ENT - I am determined not to go through another operation. Maybe this remedy will work for you too, best wishes!

Castor Oil

Dear All, I am very very excited to share my health news with you! I have had 12 operations for removal of nasal polyps, usually every 2-3 years since they regrow so fast and I am determined not to have another one. I have tried many remedies and of course, I don't need to mention the use of antibiotics and steroids. I am asthmatic as well and use usual inhalers and steroid treatments.

A few days ago, I was ready to call my doctor in order to obtain a referral for my 13th operation. I was desperate, both nostrils blocked and I could see the polyps almost protruding out of my nose! The fact I cannot breath through my nose, not only affects my sleep, speech but also affect me psychologically. I get depressed and experience "brain fogginess".

Thanks to Earthclinic, I have discovered the ACV which is fantastic - helps with even during asthma attacks.

Now, I discovered Castor Oil. I cannot tell you enough what amazing results I obtained in the past couple of days.

I have applied Castor Oil on my nostrils and I have also tried to create a Castor Oil pack. I only applied oil on my liver area (so not a pack as such - please research for a proper pack description), covered it with a flannel and applied a hot water bottle. Firstly, I have slept very well, secondly, I woke up with my nose UNBLOCKED. The night before I was ready for surgery seeing the polyps almost protruding through my nostrils, yet in the morning they retracted or shrunk so I was able to breath. I was not able to breath perfectly but it was a huge improvement. The visible swellings caused by polyps were gone and my face looked less like a 'boxer's' face. I am a long time sufferer and this was a huge breakthrough! I hope I will manage to avoid my 13th operation by continuing to use Castor Oil.

Ted's remedy: Ted considers that this condition might be due to rancid fat in the body and therefore he recommends Lecithin for fat breakdown, Vitamin C - 1000mg, ACV. [I am not fat (58kg- size 8-10 UK), however, I have noticed that when I lose weight and don't use wheat in my diet, my asthma and breathing problems are almost non existent.]

So, what I did:

1. Castor Oil applied on nostrils (a tiny bit on eyelids and wrinkles too! )

2. Castor Oil pack on the liver area

3. The following day when my nose was unblocked, I inserted diluted Grapefruit Seed Extract in my nose (acts as disinfectant and antibiotic - please research! )

4. I am taking Lecithin and Vitamin C and try to remove bread (to start with) from my diet.

Good luck to all - if it worked for me, a long term sufferer I am sure it will work for many of you.

Many thanks Earthclinic and again, good health to you all.

Dee

Nasal Irrigator
Posted by Chad (Anchorage, Alaska) on 02/22/2011

I submitted a post in the last 24 hours regarding the use of vaporized PEG in an amazing reduction of nasal polyps. I then did some research, and found this interesting, and wondered if it may be related to my findings:

Polyethylene glycol inhibits intestinal neoplasia and induces epithelial apoptosis.

Supplementation of Apc(min) mice with 10% PEG 3350 (in drinking water) resulted in a 48% (P<0.05) reduction in intestinal tumor burden and induced 2-3 fold increase in mucosal apoptosis.

Dietary supplementation of polyethylene glycol (5%) also stimulated colonic mucosal apoptosis 4-5 fold in AOM-treated rats, the regimen that we previously reported to reduce tumor burden by 76% (P<0.05).

In summary, we demonstrate, for the first time, that PEG does protect against Apc(min) mouse tumorigenesis. The correlation between pro-apoptotic actions and chemopreventive efficacy of PEG in these models strongly implicates induction of apoptosis as one of the impending mechanisms of chemoprevention.

I am a migraine and polyp sufferer and I am currently taking the citric acid 1/4 tsp and baking soda 1/4 tsp formula three times a day just over 1.5 months now and yes it works slow, but it works!!! I have not added the other supplements just the citric acid and baking soda.

As a cautionary note I read that you are not to take this solution with antacids specifically those with aluminum. Also mix first with a small amount of water and then add juice after the solution settles. It causes what looks like carbonation so you get a cup full of fizz if you mix it all together at first. The castor oil tastes terrible and I can tolerate just about anything. I did not try applying it to my stomach but that is the route to go if you decide to do so.

Bloodroot
Posted by Amanda (Coloma, Michigan) on 11/10/2010

In reference to bloodroot, you must look into the following books:Back to Eden" by Jethro Kloss- one of the best and most reliable books on herbal usage available. It has also much information about food, nutrition, exercise, it also has the botanical names of plants, which is very important. It has information on blood root.

"The way of Herbs" by Michael Tierra. Another very extensive and also talks about blood root.

Well, truth of the matter of it is that bloodroot certainly does work for everything from nose polyps to using it as an ink or dye for clothes. It can be used as an emetic, a stimulate, and as a topical application for pain. Now, when you go to look for it on the Internet, it will probably be expensive. But the truth of the matter is that it grows wild near ponds and similar water ways. It is literally littered all over the nearby woods along the river banks and ponds. I recommend to save yourself some money and also increase your intelligence, get a book with colored pictures for wild flowers and fauna of north America and go out and find some. It should be gathered in the early spring. But, please do get these books, they are wonderful and the authors know what they're talking about which means you are in safe hands taking their instruction, of course if you ask the doctor he'd rather cut into your face than admit an herb ( a natural gift from our Creator) would work. In truth, nutrition, herbs and exercise along with a constructive interest( such as natural medicine) are all you need to cure anything from a sore throat to skin cancer and even aids and syphilis. So, good luck! And remember, let's use all that has been given to use to keep us on the right track.

Water Fasting
Posted by Vatos (Nijmegen, Netherlands) on 11/07/2010

Water fasting can heal sinus polyps because they are 'eaten away' in the cleaning and healing process. I think that water fasting is the first step. Because, eating 'non-allergenic' foods will only stop the polyps from swelling, but they will always remain because they are not completely removed. So eating those foods will help you only in the short term, AND you are devoted to eating non of those allergenic foods at all the rest of your life

Hi, I just wanted to share this with all the people who have nasal polyps. My husband had a whole bunch of them, and one was like centimeters from protruding from his nostril, I tried EVERYTHING!!! That I could find about polyps, we did, and nothing seemed to help, celendine was the only thing that would help a teeny bit, he could not sleep, eat or focus, it was horrible! Then my mom suggested we try MMS, within a week, he started breathing a bit though his nose, and it kept getting better, we are now on week 5, and he keeps improving everyday, I looked up his nostril the other day, and could not see that one polyp that was so close to protruding! After he takes it for 2 or 3 months, I want to go back and get a scan done and see whats going on! But I wanted to let people know to try this, because I know how terrible and hopeless polyps are! Good luck!

Hi Tom,

I have read that the roots of the upper teeth can extend into the lower sinus cavities below the eyes. If the roots are infected then the sinus can become infected. I notice my chronic sinus problem flares up when I fall asleep without brushing my teeth. I'm not sure if this is because of allergy to the dental plaque or because bacteria migrate up through the dentin tubules into the sinus. Hope this helps, Steve

About me: I have had chronic sinusitis for around 10 years. I saw a surgeon today and my CT scan shows quite a bit of sinus polyp blockage. I am strongly considering surgery after trying many natural options, but am still looking for a natural preventative. The essiac tea seems like an interesting option, which I have not tried yet.

These nasal polyps are indeed pernicious. Horseradish did nothing for me. The polyps seemed to really make themselves known when I had a filled wisdom tooth break in two a couple of years ago. The dentist wanted to pull it, but I thought I just had a sinus infection with total blockage, so we agreed to wait til I had it cleared up before pulling the tooth. If my polyps clear up after I have the decayed tooth pulled, I will think that they are related. For now I am on steroid spray, which does shrink them a lot, high vitamin C, and trying to avoid dust and food toxins. Has anyone seen a relationship between a bad tooth and polyps? There must be a connection!

WORKED TEMPORARILY

Although h2o2 gave dramatic results at first, they didn't last, in my case. (Maybe for others it might be different...or not? I don't know) Since then, with the polyps very bad again, in desperation I used a corticosteroid nasal spray for a while (ask for the generic one, much more reasonably priced than the competition). This relieved the symptoms a bit. I also took a non-drowsy 24-hour antihistamine for a while. Then I added a homemade nasal wash - a nasal spray bottle of water, a small pinch of salt, another of baking soda, 2 drops of grapefruit seed extract, and a pinch of xylitol. This was fairly helpful. Since then I tried taking something called "No-Fenol" along with a low phenol and low salicylate diet - to no effect.

In the long run I have found just 2 things that make a major difference for me: I have to completely avoid eating chicken eggs, and likewise no cows' milk or cheese, no lactose. Duck eggs seem to be fine. Goat milk seems to be fine. Whey from cow milk I think is ok. Butter is fine. With this approach the polyps have shrunk quite a bit. I breathe partly through my nose at long last once again, and my sense of smell is back! I found which foods to avoid by trying periods of time avoiding them and then not, repeatedly. Incidentally, the lactose in an enzyme supplement not only made my sinuses worse, but gave me a headache and general aches and pains too, along with bad dreams, negative thoughts, and irritability.

Best of luck to you all, keep trying, find your triggers and avoid them and you can and will get much better.
