turmeric cured my mrsa. i was on just about every kind of antibiotic available. amoxicillin, levaquin, clendamicin. tetracycline, bactrim ds, and bactrim ds with riampin together.all over the period of 3 1/2 months. they were going to put me in the hospital on iv vanco. i tried turmeric within days the boils started going away. i used 1 teaspoon three times daily. it took about two weeks. i havent had a boil in over a month now. the sad thing is that i first read about turmeric on this web site after the first antibiotic failed. i figured there is now way it could work.. i will never doubt a natural cure again. thank you for this web site.

TURMERIC CURED MY MRSA.

I have been fighting a battle with boils/cysts since February 2007. From Feb to Apr 2007 I have been lanced in the operating theater 3 times, and 5 times in the surgeons consultation rooms. The cysts would appear on the right loin, lanced, then another would appear on the left loin. I have seen an urologist, internist, ear, nose and throat specialist, and surgeon whose answer to everything was lance it. It was a battle which started to effect my work, personal life. Within 48 hours the boil will start, and then grow till ready to burst. I couldn't plan any holidays, trips.

Then after May 2007 it went away, and I was ecstatic about this "remission" as it turned out. Lo and behold October 2007 it can back with a vengeance. Which I had once again lanced. This seems to correspond with Earth Clinic's theory on rain and MRSA because no boil appeared during these winter months.

Then I decided to take my health into my own hands and made an appointment with a natural health practitioner. He did help a lot in reversing free radical damage, etc but he said to cut caffeine and aspartame. Which I did, but the boils re-appeared. My GP said that the medical profession can't help my further. I then went Cyberhunting and came upon earthclinic.com. I have read the testimonies of almost everybody and decided to give turmeric a run for its money. I also decided not to report back within a couple of days to ensure tried results before any feedback.

2 Boils started to appear on my left loin. In less than a day the boils were red and inflamed. I immediately went to the nearest supermarket to purchase turmeric. Within a couple of hours the pain seemed less. The next morning the pain was CONSIDERABLY less and the boils shrunk to 1/3 of its original size. And on day 3 zip, gone, nothing, nada.

I have been using Turmeric for 1.5 months and it is still gone.

I want to thank earthclinic and Ted for their efforts and I would like to state today that you guys have saved my life, literally. I was on my way to fournier's gangrene and I do not think I would've survived that.

Some comments on the Turmeric journey:

It does give you constipation and dehydrate you. Drink plenty water and buy some extra electrolytes.

For the padded problem try Milk of Magnesium, 2 teaspoons should turn on Niagara falls.

I am currently experiencing with dosage, and I am currently running on 1 half teaspoon morning and night. Remember we are all different so test what works best for you.

I wish you well.

This website is a Godsend. I have been battling MRSA boils for about 6 months now. I had one lanced by the doctor which was extremely painful (the boil and the lancing). I also went through three courses of increasingly strong antibiotics. I have to admit, I was living on a horrible diet for a 44 year old woman - way too many carbs and sugar. When the dr. said if the last course of antibiotics didn't work I would have to see an infectious disease specialist, I became dedicated to finding something that worked. I started with oil of oregano which I read about on this site and then added turmeric which I read about on another site. When I tapped into the turmeric, I came back to this site and read all the wonderful information here. So far this combo is a dream. When my last boil came up - three weeks ago, I felt like I was going to lose it. I took 4 tablets of turmeric over the course of the day and honestly, the next day the boil was totally deflated! A dream come true . . . ! I've also revamped my diet and added multivitamins, probiotics and started exercising! Time will tell but I'm optimistic - finally!

I have found that taking less turmeric more often works better to hold down my MRSA symptoms. For example, I take a pinch, about 1/4 teaspoon in tea about 8 times a day. This gives a more constant control. Be careful not to take too much turmeric as it can cause nausea and bad intestinal pain. Hope my information helps other MRSA sufferers.

I have a chronic case of MRSA on both legs, extending from just below the knees extending to my feet. I have been in the emergency room several times as the infection took a turn for the worse. I have been hospitalized 2 times, once when the infection had both of my calves, front and rear, covered with open sores. My legs "weep" constantly, soaking my pant legs and giving off an unpleasant odor. I have had a PICC line inserted and IV antibiotics administered, both in the hospital and at home. The home IV was done by means of a very ingenious collapsing ball mechanism which administered the exact dosage over a period of time and required no hanging post. I have taken several courses of oral antibiotics including bactrim and clindamyacin. I apply a combination of mupirocin and silver sulfadiazine on my legs which are then covered with kerlix roll gauze.

Today is 4/15/2015. I started mixing a tablespoon of turmeric into the mupirocin/silver mixture yesterday, 4/14/15, evening. It is my intention to document the progress, if any, of the addition of turmeric to the regimen.

More to follow.

Three days ago, I started adding turmeric to the prescription ointments I was already using. This mixture was mupirocin, (bactroban), and silver sulfadiazine. Now, I am mixing in about 1/2 tsp. of turmeric, and have been experimenting with amounts. The first day, I added a tbs to the mix and the next day my legs were very tender. The next day, I reduced the amount to 1/2 tsp. I have already been amazed at the progress of my right leg. The swelling is going down and the gravel texture of the skin is going away! There was a spot on the top of the right foot, on the metatarsal arch, that was beginning to develop necrotic tissue. A black spot had appeared and the area was extremely sensitive to touch. Now, the spot is gone and the area is becoming less sensitive.

All in all, I am very impressed. The seeming results that are occurring so quickly... I just hope that it continues and doesn't plateau.

More to come...

I am having great results using curcumin supplements (a concentrated form of Turmeric) for fighting staph. I am also using Oregano Oil, Cell Food, One Daily, B-Complex, Vitamin C, and homemade Kefir.

I have been getting mrsa spots for awhile... I've had a couple drained and been on antibiotics. I had a small one appear and started researching because I'm so sick of being on antibiotics. Well, I found this site and went out and bought some of the powder spice turmeric, I have tried to take it with everything... Mixing it in anything I can think of.. And it still makes me gag every time. I just can't stomach it. So, I was considering getting the capsules.

I read your warnings on them, I actually found some at walmart.. And they don't have any of the extra ingredients in them you mentioned. So, I was wondering if these are ok to use instead? I was going to start by taking one 500mg three times a day with meals. I'm fine with the extra cost, because I'd rather pay a few more dollars than gag everytime I try to drink or eat the stuff. So like I said, I'm just curious if this will be as effective as long as it doesn't have those extra ingredients? Also I'm using the actual powder I bought to make the paste to apply to the spots.

One more question, how long should it typically take for it to work? Especially on a smaller one?

Thanks so much!!

Turmeric
Posted by Heather (New Castle, In) on 03/17/2011

Thanks.. I'm glad to know it worked at least! I've been wondering.. I've been taking 4 500mg capsules.. Through out the day.. I can't take more than 1 at a time or it upsets my stomach too much. Not as bad as the powder mixed in water through. I take 1 with each meal and then 1 with a snack before bed. It still causes a bit of a stomach ache. But not as bad. And I drink a whole bottle of water after each one. So I'm wondering, how long should it take or does it normally take to notice a difference?

The spot that had some stuff coming out of it, seems to be flat and painless.. But still every morning I see a tiny bit come out of it.. Is this normal? It itches though.. Does this mean it's healing?

I have another spot that is just a small hard knot under the skin.. It hasn't broken the skin or anything. It doesn't really seem smaller either though. It's not really painful, I just want to keep it from getting to that point. Yesterday was my first full day of taking it.

I'm nervous, because we leave for our anniversary vacation next Saturday.. and I don't want to be dealing with this.

Although taking turmeric internally is great for, not only the infection, but your immune system, you can also apply it topically. Also, another option is to buy to powder from an ethnic store, very cheap, and put it in capsules yourself! Much cheaper!!

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Update: I started take 3 "00" sized capsules of turmeric and pepper with a spoonful of olive oil a day for about one week. Had to stop, because it brought on menstrual bleeding! Sure enough, turmeric is a natural emmenagogue used in Ayurvedic medicine. I made these pills myself, so they were not packed very tightly, but I would guess I was taking about 2400mg/day. I started taking one pill per day (800mg) because it absolutely worked for staph! I would definitely warn women to be careful. Especially if you're taking turmeric/pepper/olive oil because you will most likely be absorbing all of that.

To Brittany of Cardiff: I missed your original query about turmeric, so don't know if this is relevant, but just in case it is - you can get organic, non-irradiated turmeric from Steenberg's Organic of Ripon, and empty capsules from G. Baldwin of London. You can order from both companies by telephone, and they send.

Hi Irisheyes, I make a turmeric tea using 1 teaspoon turmeric, a teaspoon of honey, 1/8th teaspoon of cayenne pepper and either some half and half or coconut milk. I then add hot water and stir. I love drinking this tea. Not only is it healthy but also delicious.

I recently used Turmeric mixed with Aloe Vera Gel to cure myself of MRSA. I noticed all of the Gel and about half of the 1/8th teaspoon of Turmeric I applied topically was absorbed into my flesh. I read that Turmeric dissolves more readily in warm fats than any other substance. I would like to try mixing Pressed Virgin Coconut oil with Turmeric for a nice topical skin treat, as opposed to ingesting these wonderful remedies. (Yes, I know Turmeric stains brown, but that's what color I am any way).

My Question is: What is the difference in absorption via ingestion verses topical absorption via skin? I. E. : If I ingest 1/2 teaspoon of Coconut Oil mixed with 1/8 teaspoon Turmeric, am I absorbing the same amount of nutrients & benefits as I do when rubbing 1/2 teaspoonful of coconut oil mixed with 1/8 teaspoon Turmeric into my skin? If not, what is a reasonable ballpark ratio of benefits for ingestion versus topical absorption? Please can anyone help me to understand this? I am so jazzed about finding Earth Clinic. Many Thanks to all who make this website happen!

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Turmeric for MRSA: Well, I tried 1 tsp in milk 3x daily with meals and then switched to a standardized capsule with meals but within a day my gut was killing me (belching, bloating, flatulence). It may have made the boil on my arm better but I'm still sick and won't be taking the turmeric internally anymore unless I'm really sick. Hope my immune system takes over now.

This gas may have been your body detoxing and breaking down mucousy deposits and or killing candida in you intestines. Turmeric taken internally is a GREAT immunity booster, it would be a shame if others gave up on it because of your experience!

Thank you Earth Clinic and everyone for this post. I am struggling with mrsa for about a year and a half now. It started on my scalp near my nape, was gone after a week and it keeps coming back. Sometimes I have 3 of them all connected. I also have them on my pubic part, thighs, on my breast and on my waist. It affects me emotionaly and I get paranoid of any bump on my skin all the time. I am sick and tired of cleaning, trying everything, spending money on antibiotics, etc. its getting worse. But after reading this, I am positive that I will heal! I'm on my way to the grocery store and will continue reading the rest of the posts later after making a turmerc paste! Im so excited! Will update you soon!

I have had a staph infection for the last month - my first ever. It was misdiagnosed until just a few weeks ago when I was finally given topical antibiotics. It seemed to have worked - the rash became a solid pimple like boil which then washed off in the shower. It left a mess though, the redness increased and there were many many bumps everywhere (this entire situation is occuring just next to my right eye) and seemed to be spreading. I put manuka honey on it, which relieved the heat issue, but I knew I had to get it off my face, in case it spread to my eye and caused serious issues. So back to the doctor I went. She gave me internal antibiotics and told me to quit eating Vitamin C, garlic, and the manuka honey and instead take a 500mg antibiotic 4x a day for 10 days. I took 2 the first day and got such a horrendous headache I couldn't see straight and all the aches and pains associated with this staph infection flared up. I took 2 antibiotics the next day but I felt so terrible on them I quit them. My legs were killing me again and I couldn't walk very well.

So I threw out the antibiotics and went back to my mega doses of vitamin C, garlic, manuka honey, and now - after reading this wonderful website - turmeric. I have been taking the 500mg of turmeric suppliments 2x a day and cooking with it for the last 3 days. I also began putting the tumeric on the skin infection by my eye because it was burning so badly. Mixing it with grape seed oil (what I found in the kitchen) has created the cure I needed! 3 days - 3 must be the magic number - and it is vastly improved. The boil doesn't itch, burn or bother me too much. The first night I didn't figure out the oil part, so it was a little dry and painful (much like the tea tree oil I had on before) but once the oil was mixed with it, the boil soaked it up. The second day the boil was very wet, and the change was beginning to bother me, was it getting bigger? Would I have a terrible scare or hole there? I jumped into the shower and washed everything off - getting out and expecting the worst. Lo and behold, the boil actually was smaller! I stayed awake last night, alternating heated rags to wash off the turmeric, then to reapply, and in the morning there was only a small opening, where before it had reached from under my eye to my eyebrow. Amazing! Tonight I will continue to clean it off and reapply whenever it starts to burn or itch again - hopefully by tomorrow it will be sealed with only the rash remaining.

Thank you so much for all of the information on here! It's amazing...$2.65 for a huge bag of turmeric spice...$8.00 for the suppliments - it should be a crime doctors do not tell people about natural remedies. Sometimes I think we have everything upside down and backwards when it comes to knowing all there is to know about medicine.

I just wanted to report back in. It has been 6 days since starting a personal turmeric treatment for my staph infection. Unfortunately I have a boil right near my right eye, a dangerous place to say the least. When I first started putting turmeric on the boil (which had spread from my eyebrow down my cheek and under my eye and from the corner of my eye to my ear even with antibiotic cream and tea tree oil) it is now day six, and all that is left are two small marks!!! They are not even the size of spider bites. Sure my folks are a little perplexed over my new orange stained complexion, but who cares?! This horror is almost gone!! Now though I've been focusing mostly on this particular area I have been working internally as well. Can't stop now! Almost there!!

MRSA boils and Turmeric cure

When I recently got married I continued drinking my homemade kefir every day BUT I forgot to use turmeric in the kefir. After two months, I got a bad outbreak of MRSA on the back of one leg and on the top of one hand. (I first contracted MRSA about 3 years ago). I began using turmeric again (I had plenty on hand) and in one day I could see the redness starting to disappear. Now the areas are mostly healed. Kefir does a fine job holding down my MRSA symptoms, but I need turmeric added in small amounts to each cup of kefir I drink. I always sip kefir all day. Today in fact, I ordered more fresh kefir grains from eBay because after 3 years of using the original grains purchased back then, they were finally weakening. I hope my information helps other people who either have MRSA boils or other types. A main way to combat MRSA is NOT to eat anything containing HEME iron (meat, fish, poultry). I believe that I got these outbreaks recently because I was omitting turmeric. Now I have my MRSA symptoms back under control. If you want to know more about how I control my MRSA, just email me: johnmillerz2003 (at) yahoo.com Carolyn

Back story first. Some years ago 3 of my boys, with some friends, went swimming in a creek. -They went to the creek because most of our local beaches had been closed due to high bacteria levels.- Three of those boys, one of my own, were later diagnosed with MRSA. We had seven people in our home at the time and all but two have since suffered bouts of boils. Those of us who have higher bodyfat percentages suffer much more frequently and severely.

About a year and a half ago I discovered earthclinic. I immediately started taking remedies for -among other things- allergies, asthma, fibromyalgia, and boils. (I have never been diagnosed with MRSA, I choose NOT to have that put in my medical records. Besides, no medication ever given to my son or any of his friends ever really helped.) I no longer suffer from ANY of those conditions accept the boils.

When I first started taking the turmeric I had no less than 30 outbreaks in less than 3 weeks. I assumed this was a 'cleansing period'. They were uncomfortable, inconvenient of course but definitely NOT like they used to be. Since then I have had 4. Two were very minor, gone right away. The third was a bit more painful, this one now is killing me! It may very well be the worst I have ever had!

HERE IS MY POINT! I did the math and realized why I have gotten these last two -I think. The last one I got after my son had been in the hospital, I missed maybe 2 or 3 days of taking my morning "tea". This time I have gotten VERY caught up in life, very busy and I think I have only had my tea 3 or 4 times in the last week and a half! It is my understanding that there is no 'cure' for MRSA. There is only control.

My 'tea' consists of 1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp cayenne
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbs blackstrap molasses
1 Tbs coconut oil
1 c warm water

For those of us who are predisposed to boils, are sensitive to staph or have been exposed to MRSA constant control is key to our continued health.

By the way, I also rinse with ACV after every shower and spray myself head to toe with peroxide about every other day to control topically.

Out of the list you are taking, Turmeric is the one that thins blood alot. Careful to anyone who has heart failure. Could make it worse. Even though it is a great product and works for so many things. Some cannot tolerate it. Also it is helpful for liver problems but can make certain types of liver problems worse. The rest of the list is safe for thin blood. Good Luck to you.

Your post brought tears to my eyes. I do not know how old your daughter was when this happened, but she sounds young. Just yesterday I took my 22-year-old daughter to the emergency room for a lancing (her 5th) of a big staph infection on the back of her left thigh. Same as your daughter, the anesthetic did not take (until 30 minutes AFTER the lancing was performed). My daughter felt all the pain. I held her hand and cried with her through the pain for 15 minutes... The longest 15 minutes of both our lives (I feel for you and your daughter to have to put up with that for twice as long as my daughter and I did). I am crying right now just thinking about it. I have never seen, or want to see my daughter in that much pain again. She was screaming out crying, but still apologizing all the while to me and the doctor for crying and screaming. I just about lost it.

The thing is, for 3 days prior to taking her into the emergency room, I was giving her the turmeric, 1 tsp full mixed in a cup of tomato soup, with black pepper and coconut oil included, 3 times a day. Along with this drink, I used a tumeric and coconut oil paste on her infection and changed it twice daily. And it never got better, only worse, to the point that she started to have cellulitis around her boil. That's when I knew that I could not wait any longer for the turmeric to work. I was praying to God that this would be the answer for her 2-year battle with staph infections, but it didn't help to get rid of this one.

I would like to have her try the exact brand of turmeric capsules your daughter takes if you could please email me at sandooch150 [at] yahoo [dot] com. I realize your post is an old one and hope you come back here find mine with this question.

I pray your daughter is still doing fine with taking her capsules.

If anyone else who is reading this and who has had success with taking turmeric capsules instead of drinking it with liquid, please feel free to email me as well with the brand you are taking. I am desperate for an answer to never have to put my daughter through that pain again.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I was diagnosed with MRSA last month and had to take Bactrim and my infection specialist suggested decolonising the staph/MRSA bacteria from skin after the treamtment. The boils went away and I felt good, but within two days of competing antiboitic treatment, I got a boil on my buttocks and I started reading earth clinic's natural cure and about turmeric. I started last week and with in 3 days, the MRSA boils were gone. I am taking 3 times half spoon turemric powder with warm water mixed with little ground pepper.

Thanks earth clinic and all those who contributed their knowledge. I am supposed to go to my doctor next month and I will tell him about this home remedy. The one question I have is about how long do I have to take turmeric after all the boils are gone? Also, is there any cure for MRSA?
