In my 20s I was 5 foot 3 inches tall. I gained like 50 pounds of weight and held most of it in my 30's. Now I am 5 foot 1 inch. Has anyone ever heard of this? I am losing the weight and hope to get my height back. Thanks.

You are losing the height because the excess weight is compacting on your joints to make you shorter. Once you loose the weight as long as there is not permanent issues with your joints you should gain the inches you lost in your height back. Good luck with the weight loss. I am doing the same as you working to get the extra off.

It is true that fast foods are bad for health and the most dreadful effects of them is that they slow down the work of your immune system. I used to eat a lot and gained some 30lbs of weight and suffered of many diseases due to improper immune system. My wife advised me eat natural food and workout in the gym. I am perfectly alright now. Anyways your article is quite good and justifies all the points that you have discussed. Thanks for such a detailed explanation!

Does any have any suggested remedies for those with carbohydrate sensitivity? I (a female) work out at least days a week, and try to eat clean (5 meals per day) but my body fat percentage is so slow in decreasing. All lab blood test have been returned normal/or excellent. Any suggestions?

what helped me bigtime was....

(1) 12 oz glass green juice (veggies only) each morning.

fage yoghurt for breakfast with nuts (high in protein and good fats, keeps you full).

incorporating more raw foods in my daily intake.

cut out all soda, all chemical sweetners, all grains, all fruits until you have lost the weight and then you can add gradually to your daily intake.

hope this helps, t

Urine Therapy

Interesting post. I haven't actually read a book about urine therapy so far but I would be curious as whether you could answer this question which I have posted several times already. I would be afraid to try to drink urine because of the fact that when you go for an urine test they see whether you are ill by what comes out of your body. Wouldn't you be drinking it again? Take a bladder infection for example, would you want to drink what comes out? By the way, maybe it would be good if you could post your comments on the book your read on the book review page? I am looking for a good one if ever I decide to give it a try.

Urine Therapy
Posted by Yogagirl (Orange County, Ca) on 05/25/2011

That's a great question, and one that was covered very thoroughly in the book, The Water of Life. J W Armstrong, the author, advocated drinking the urine in whatever condition it was in on leaving the body. It could be cloudy, bloody, it didn't really matter. In one case, a patient with heavy fluid buildup in his body was unable to produce any urine, so the author provided his own urine for the patient to drink, and that primed the pump, so to speak, and the patient was then able to urinate in great quantity.

The author's mode of treatment was to put the patient on a urine fast to cleanse the body and urine massages to cleanse the skin. The patient was required to drink all of the urine that was produced and as much water as the patient cared to drink, and that was it, until the body had cleansed itself and recovered. The urine ran clear when the patient had recovered.

After you see the benefit of urine therapy, you stop thinking of it as a waste product and start thinking of it as a natural resource. After all, urine is what is running through our veins, prior to being filtered through the kidneys and expelled.

I'm confused about your remark about the ph of 7.11. A ph of 7 is neutral, and anything above 7 is moving toward "basic" not acidic.

Master Cleanses

Normal human blood pH is 7.35-7.45. Therefore 7.11 is too acidic. Our blood is slightly alkaline.

My experience wasn't that severe, but I had a really bad experience with master cleanse too. I got so weak, my whole body was shaking, I was sick like never in my life. Maybe those are detox symptoms, but such detox is way to hard on the body, I think. There is simply no quick fix, balance is the key.

Master Cleanses
Posted by Van (Sunnyvale, Ca, Usa) on 10/06/2011

Errrmmm...I have a natural PH of 6.25-6.5 and I NEVER had any major issues. Rarely get sick. My skin is perfect too. All my medical test pass flying colors. Healthy as a horse. So 7.11 is not too acidic and that is not the issue.

Perhaps there was issues with the source of your water or lemons. I am wondering if you used organic lemons or the cheap kind or had any household chemicals laying around. Like the lemon might have fallen on the floor, table, etc, etc. Might of been a chemical reaction with something else inside your body.

I had a friend who did the lemon cleanse and lost 20lbs in one month. No health issues. I personally don't like to side on extremes. South beach works for me.

Also, if your Master Cleanse consists of chemicals like Borax I wouldn't recommend it because there is food grade and household uses grade which is dangerous according to my materials data sheet.

The master cleanse I know is just water (not distilled), organic lemons, cayenne peppers and maple syrup.

I just thought I'd check back and see if there were any responses to my "nay" on the master cleanse. There are a couple of people who are confused, and I forget, not everyone is medical minded, and I should have stated my PH was NOT my urine PH. A normal urine Ph CAN be anywhere from 4.8 to 8. That is correct. However, the Ph I was referring to was my ABG results. An ABG is an arterial blood gas. Blood is drawn directly from your artery. 7.11 is dangerously low for a Ph and I scared alot of people that night, not only at the hospital but my family members :-(. Frequently, a person with a Ph of less then 7. 20 (arterial) is a strong candidate for a ventilator (a machine that breathes for you)... So 7.11 REALLY did freak some people out, including myself. Also, I DID use ALL organic lemons, maple syrup, distilled water etc. This diet is just NOT for everyone. Please be careful!

I would say NO - do not do this without talking to a doctor first. My brother was a diabetic.... And I know enough to know that this does not sound like a good idea. Please research more, and speak to a doctor before attempting ANY kind of a fast if you are diabetic, or very bad things could occur. Best to you,

Hi, just wondered if you could speak more about what to do for low testosterone levels, and low hormone levels in general? I have low EVERYTHING right now (after two children, breastfeeding, etc. ), and no trace of cortisol at all! I was put on a low level of cortisol, and am working on consistency with herbs to help my adrenals (which have been deficient for years and years... ), but any other advice or recommendations would be wonderful! My energy is so low, and I am chronically fatigued, struggle with candida, etc. Thanks!!

I need to lose 20 pounds and have tried everything, exercise, dieting- nothing helps. I'll lose a few pounds then gain it back without changing anything. I have been trying the ACV (2 tbsp per 16 oz drank throughout day)that I saw on this site for about a week but have seen no change. I have also taken EV Coconut Oil (and cut fat & calories from my diet to make up for it). I am taking antidepressants and had my gall bladder removed and was wondering if either of these factors could be contributing to the inability to lose weight. I also have Epstein Barr and fibromyalgia so I have been taking vitamins as well as COQ10 & L-Carnatine for about a year just to have some energy. Any suggestions? Getting this weight off is really important to me, I'll try anything at this point. Thanks.

Hi Cara.. I just wanted to ask if you are gluten free/dairy free yet? I have FMS, and supplements and everything else won't do me any good if I am eating foods that inflame the body. With FMS, gluten and dairy are super harmful and should be eliminated for life. Try it.. You will feel much better!

Multiple Remedies
Posted by L. (Red Deer, Alberta Canada) on 09/11/2010

I would check the side effects of the antidepressants. I too, have been dealing with some of your health issues, including weight. For me, I had to be satisfied that I was taking a whole food diet. That means fresh perishable foods. Also, mostly just plain, loose green tea in the am, and then only water or lemon water. Recently, I've tried MMS and colodial silver, and the weight has been reducing, as well as an increase in energy. You should read up on the alkalising drink, because it's imperative to keep your PH at about 7, or 7.25. When people ask me for supplements, (I guess they see I've improved) I always tell them about raising the PH, before I tell them anything else. The body heals with a neutral (7) PH.

I have not seen this posted here on your website and am not sure as to what category this subject would fall into...perhaps both mind/body category and/or for weight loss , but I have now found me a healthy way of losing weight and living right, and it seems to be working for me totally! As of March 27th, 2010, I have lost twelve pounds and, although it has been gradual, I seem to be shedding the fat at a steady pace, and I believe that is the best way to do it. I have always been a somewhat healthy eater with a few (a lot of) temptations here and there, but I think I was just eating too much of all that "healthy" stuff! I now believe I have my eating under control and I owe it all to self - help "Hypnotherepy" (and of course, your website!).
I purchased a self-hypnosis book and audio CD online and it has been worth every penny! There were so many to chose from. I bought a couple before I actually found one that really worked and spoke just to me. Not only do I now have my weight under control, I am more at peace and life is truly worth living every day.I now eat to live instead of living to eat! And...all my sweet cravings went away. I now drink only pure, clean water (nothing else - I don't even want or crave anything else!). No cakes, cookies, candies, white sugars, white breads, etc. All those cravings are NOW completely gone. I don't have the desire for any of that stuff and this therepy has really helped in that respect. it took a couple weeks of listening to the audio CD daily until it kicked in and I finally "Got It" so if you decide to take this approach, give it a couple weeks to sink in.... ...It doesn't just happen in one session...

It is a form of brainwashing but I believe it's a good kind of brainwashing. You definately have to be open to this kind of therepy as well, going into it with a positive mind, knowing that it will be working for you. No negativity whatsoever! You can only get out of it, what you put into it.

My hypnotherepy session begins every morning before I get out of bed with a half hour tape session (using headphones). I do breathing exercises (kinda like yoga) along with it and during the whole session I am repeating positive affirmations. Stuff like... I am in complete control of my eating habits", "I deserve to be fit and healthy"...."My self esteem grows stronger and stronger every day", "I remain a healthy eater forever", "I deserve to be fit and healthy", etc. It also offers some imagery sessions to so you can focus on what you WANT to look like when you accomplish your ideal weight.

I am now strong believer (and a witness), that if you tell yourself positive things every day, you begin to believe them more and more. I think all of us need positive feeback constantly, to remind us how wonderful we really are as human beings, and what our capabilities are.. in order for us to function to our full capacity! I am now filling up my mind, my body and my soul, not to mention my tummy, with healthy words of encouragement, and really believing them... and the weight is coming off... Not only do we have to get rid of the junk food that we have put into our bellies, but we have to get rid of all the junk that has been fed into our minds throughout our lifetime, by beginning to replace it with healthy, positive thoughts. As of today, I am so full of energy.....so full of life..... .... and so full of.... H20! (Smiling as I take a sip).... Soooooo... Happy dieting. Happy living. I hope you find that which what works for you! Take care. Janie

I was eager to start the Master Cleanse (recipe I used to follow) after doing much research. However, a question arises: is it okay to replace a meal or two with the Master Cleanse instead of doing ONLY the Master Cleanse throughout the day? For example, I did the Master Cleanse drink for breakfast and lunch, but by mid/late afternoon I was ravenous (but not shaky or irritable) so I ate some protein. For dinner I ate a large salad with a lean protein. I'm on the 3rd day of doing this protocol and I'm curious what others think. Thanks in advance!

RECIPE:
10 oz steam-distilled water
2 tbsp lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
1 tbsp BSM
1/10 cayenne powder
1 tbsp raw ACV
1 tbsp raw honey
pinch of borax
dash of ginger
dash of (real) cinnamon

I'm currently doing the 'Clean' cleanse by Alejandro Junger. He advocats liquid meals for breakfast and dinner, and solid food (no sauces or anything though - for example today I'm having salmon grilled with VCO, sauteed broccoli rabe and arugula salad). I'm enjoying it, and feeling really great - and it's easy to maintain because you do eat some real food. The rational for having a liquid meal at night (a blended raw soup - last night was zuchinni, celery, basil, avocado and a little olive oil and sea salt) is that if you leave at least 12 hour window for digestion the body kicks into detox mode - which is why the last meal is very light. SO! I'm sure you could master cleanse and eat a little too - so long as you follow clean eating guidelines - it might just take a little longer.

To Andy re: What vegtable oils to avoid? Stay away from those that say hydrogenated oil. They are bad for everyone. Best are flax oil, olive oil, extra virgin coconut oil, sesame If extra virgin and cold pressed even better. Google them when in doubt. I did. It's how I started with coconut oil extra virgin. Very healthy for everyone. Contrary to myths, you lose weight consuming it cause immediately it turns into energy. Does not spike your insulin, and kills cravings. Also it suppresses your appetite so you eat less. I love it. I also traded cow milk for almond milk. Use raw honey instead of regular sugar. Coconut oil instead of butter or honey and I feel great. They give me energy all day long and I feel great. Thank you JESUS!

Excellent article about how corporations are actually running the US government (and through cascade effect, the rest of the world). It has been decades since these companies, with their fake paid-for studies and government sponsorship, are still convincing people to walk away from a diet that their ancestors handled quite well for thousand of years. The result is a sick, fat, and depressed society, full of health problems, and addicted to what these companies are massively producing in order to increase profit.

Wake up people. This is not the only massive case of deceit going on... Use your own observational skills and don't trust mass media. You will be surprised at what you find out.

Re: Plant oils

I am reading fast so do not know what all has gone before but glorifying our ancient past always gets my attention. I cannot actually speak for them but would think if ancient man had access to vegetable oils they would have used them.

Also they did not live as long as we do.

There is thought that prehistoric peoples ate very little meat and survived on plants as their main choice simply because they did not have the expertise to get animals and when they ate meat it usually was an animal kill which they chased the predator away and had the meat for themselves. A pretty picture thinking of them diving in grabbing something and gnawing away.

Now I expect an onslaught of non-vegetarian replies so the coward that I am I'm going to wait a few days before looking at your site again. :)

Because exercising improves the supply of new, oxigen rich blood all through your own entire body, moreover, you may often get better a lot more speedily from any sort of personal injury. All-in-all, exercising is really helpful you simply seriously ought to add it for your diet program.

Proceed rising your own weekly physical exercise. You may have started with 1 day of going for walks. And possibly you actually moved for 25 minutes or so. At this moment you may put in a subsequent day of lose weight in a week. You may change from walking the neighboorhood to walks in the nearby mall.

Make use of the sections from the diet regime that don't perform for you personally as commitment to locate points which do get the job done. Raise your physical exercise until finally you're taking walks (or performing other sorts of type of physical exercise) at the least 3 or 4 times every week.

Oils are necessary for the integrity of cell walls, supposedly. High quality oils. Cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, expeller pressed UN-refined coconut oil, fish/flax/borage oil, hemp oil, sessame oil, evening primrose oil. Somewhere I heard that vinegar is really an oil. Don't eat processed, hydrogenated, heated/cooked oils. Organic, raw, unrefined, unheated, etc. Warming them is probably ok.

Safflower Oil
Posted by Ali (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) on 02/16/2010
★★★★★

This week I began using 2 tsp. daily of safflower oil used in food, along with a sensible diet. A recent study suggested this was helpfull in weight loss, especially belly fat. I lost two lbs. which I was happy with, all I changed was to cut all simple sugars from my diet however, I did enjoy fruit, one or two per day whenever a craving for sweets hit, usually an apple, pear or berries. I already used only 100% whole wheat or whole grain bread and pasta but I changed the bread to sour dough rye, wasn't crazy about the taste when used plain but scrumptious when toasted and drizzled with a little virgin olive oil and a little safflower oil and some all natural peanut butter sprinkled with fresh ground flax seed. I added a peeled apple with a good dash of cinnimon. I had this every morning for my breakfast. It is a good idea to have at least two or three cups of green tea daily, I made sure to have at least two cups, if you don't like the tea just take one 140 mg.capsule daily. Take it easy on how much dairy you consume, I had lite feta and a few sprinkles of parmesan on my pasta, also a small amount of chedder sometimes, couldn't resist as it is one of my weaknesses. It was not difficult for me as I normally have a large salad every day, sometimes with a small amount of lean meat or fish as a main course or a smaller one with a sandwich for lunch. Evening meal is lean meat or fish with lots of lightly steamed vegtables and about 3/4 cup brown rice, pasta or sweet potato and small salad if I need a little extra. I also have a large glass of spring or filtered water with juice of a quarter lemon squeezed in.

Is there anyone else who is using this protocol? If so what has been your experience? Also how long have you been using it and is two lbs a week a realistic goal in the long term? Any feedback would be appreciated. Oh yes, I also take a good multi vit. with extra vit. D3 in winter. Thanks Earth Clinic and also cuddos to all who post info. All the best, Ali

I saw big bags of cinnamon sticks at the Indian mkt today but didnt get one bc I have lots of cinnamon (canela) at home. That shop sources pretty much everything from India, or sometimes England like with my Amla hair oil. Spent way too much there this week though, sigh. Too many good things. Thx.
