I went to the dr. 3 weeks ago because I was feeling a little irritated down there and was diagnosed with vaginitis and a yeast infection, I was prescribed metronidazole (which burns like hell!!) and diflucan, I was fine after the first 5 days however, my menstrual cycle came and brought back the yeast, the redness and irritation was downright awful, I got a refill of diflucan 2- this time taken 3 days apart but it didn't soothe the irritation. I stumbled upon this website at lunch time and thought I need to try this because this redness and soreness is driving me crazy !!!! I almost went to the supermarket and purchased Heinz ACV that would have been a mistake, [ORGANIC ACV] works best.
I filled the tub up past my ankles with semi hot water and a 1-1/2 cup of organic ACV sat in it and squatted and waved the water upwards towards my vajayjay, (I was too scared to try the douche). Right now I feel at peace! I am typing this testimonial fresh out of the tub in some cotton panties RELIEVED!!!! not to mention I am sipping on a glass of water with 2 table spoons of ACV. At this moment I don't have fire engine red labia minora lips, I will keep you informed if my condition changes.

Wow, garlic worked WONDERS on completely eradicating my yeast infection within just two days. Well, the first day I swallowed a couple cloves of crushed garlic, but I didn't notice any improvement over the day. So that night, I inserted a small clove of garlic and Thank Mother Earth, the next morning the itching had subsided almost completely. The next night, I did the same, only I crushed the garlic a tiny bit to release the oils more. Today, no more symptoms whatsoever! None at all! Yayy. I may do the same again tonight, just to make sure all the yeast is gone. Haa, we should all chip in and advertise garlic clove yeast infection cure, that'd put the tube-o-chemicals company right OUT!(incidentally, I have never used any of those type of creams and only had a yeast infection once before, but it seemed to go away on it's own after about 5 days...still, garlic is a wonder for this.) :P I love this site so much, thank you! Everyone is so helpful, you are all amazing people. Oh...and also, I started drinking a few cups of Kombucha a few days ago, and then this happened. I'm not sure how exactly they would be connected, if anyone knows or has had the same experience with Kombucha, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks for any info. :) Peace

I have suffered with a Urinary Tract Infection for about a week now. I was taking AZO and it wasn't working at all. My doctor prescribed me some antibiotic's called Bactrim that was supposed to help with the infection. It DID help...but it ALSO left me with a Yeast Infection. When I got on this site and saw all of the responses to apple cider vinegar i took off to my kitchen to find some. I put 1/2 cup of it in my bath water and soaked for about 30 mins. IT WORKS!!! When I got out i put some on a rag and dabbed it on the "area" and I'm feeling better already!!! This website is WONDERFUL!!!

Thanks for this wonderful webiste. Despite reading all the comments for ACV, I'm sorry to report that it hasn't helped me in my battle with Yeast Infections!! I've also tried numerous other methods - Ted's suggestion of Nicaniamide, probiotics etc. I have found some relief with yoghurt though - I make my own with a high bacterial content & insert it into my vagina at night. My husband (graphic as it is!!) then inserts his you-know-what, which pushes it in & around properly i guess. It might be a bit bizarre, but I've tried ALL the remedies & this is the only thing that makes any difference. I feel substantially better, so hope that this helps someone out there!!

I just soaked in a lukewarm bath with 1 cup iodized sea salt and 3/4 organic ACV. I thought it would sting when I first got into the tub. Not at all! It was extremely soothing. I almost didn't want to get out. I sat there for about 30 minutes. Finally after suffering from this awful YI for over a week I am getting some relief. I have been to the dr. Have been using AZO yeast, miconazole powder, nystatin cream, etc. etc. but only some temporary relief. I still have a couple of sore spots, just because the skin is very raw. My infection had spread half way down my inner thighs. I'll try another bath tonight before I go to bed and will hopefully be able to finally sleep comfortably. Thank you for this nearly instant remedy!

Do NOT use baking soda!!!! I got advice from a friend to use it and after soaking in it for 45 min she called me and told me to get out immediately. The YI got so bad I finally had to break down and get medical attention.

%uFEFF OMG! Thank you everyone! For 2 wks I have been itching and it was driving me nuts! Vagisil only worked moderately and didn't last long. I didn't have the organic variety of acv, only the reg heinz bottle but figured it was worth a shot. Why not eh? I soaked a rag in a glass of water and 1 tbsp of acv then applied it directly over my vagina (only the outer parts are infected) and shazaam!!! NO MORE ITCH! I also immediately drank 2 tsp of the stuff before this just to make sure it was in the system. I will continue with this rag soak until I can get into the tub tonight. What a blessing this page was to find.

Plain yogurt dipped on a tampon and inserted for a few hours works like a charm at curing impending yeast infections. Additionally, the yogurt is very soothing, not harsh in any way. Also, a tip about avoiding yeast infections: don't have sex using a flavored condom!
Boric Acid

Many years ago, a gynecologist suggested that I use Boric Acid to end my yeast infection. At the time, Monistat, etc, creams were only available with a prescription. I followed her advice with immediate releief. I went to the drugstore and bought a small jar of Boric Acid, which was a white powder, plus I bought some empty glycerin capsules. These had to be special ordered by the pharmacist at the time, but I see them in the drug stores all the time now. I filled the capsules with the boric powder by pushing both ends of the capsule into the powder until it was crammed with the powder, then I pushed both ends of the capsule together to close it. The capsules were NOT injested orally, although it seems now that i may have been able to do this, but instead, they were inserted into my vagina at night, just as you would the Monostat cream. I never knew how many capsules to insert or for how long, and since the name of the product was boric ACID, I was afraid to use too much for fear of burning my interior skin. After that, I rarely got yeast infections, and when I did, this remedy always worked, and for far far less money than going to the doctor and getting a prescription.
I also learned that boric acid is used to get rid of insects and cockroaches ...sprinkle it around the perimeters of the base boards or window sills, ect, anywhere where you see the critters exiting or entering. It's worth a try and not toxic for humans.
Avoid Spermicides

Me too. Worst experience I ever had. Pain was immediate on contact, very terrible burning sensation, redness and itching as tho when I was a kid and got skinned knees. Used mineral oil to soothe and in a day or so, redness and swelling ended. But the smell lingered, tho a brand new box within expy date. For the odor, aloe vera gel cooled, soothed, and best of all ended the odor first application to irritated area.

I have used L-Glutathione for years for stiffness or joint pain of any type. I works great. I am told it is the key to allow calcium and vit. D amd mag. into the osteoblasts. Without it very little gets in to keep them working properly and it works really well. It also detoxifies the liver. Also I use a product called colon tone by Dr.Eskeland. It is an oxygen based cleaner and one of the great things I noticed it also does is help with yeast infections which I have often, I am guessing the xtra oxygen in the colon kills bacteria. All I know is its great not to have to put up with those yeast infections constantly. I suppose you can find it on the web. Otherwise e-mail me and I can tell you where I get it. Also the glutathione is a very inexpensive supplement.

For Thrush, the white coating in your mouth, I have found a good way to stop it for me. First, I brush my teeth as normal in the morning. Important! Upon waking do not swallow any spit (sorry). The spit (IMO) is FULL of candida, the white stuff, especially in the mornings. If I swallow anything, it fuels my gut candida and virginia candida overgrowth, I think. But, anyway, the second crucial part is this: I get some Listerine, or store brand of it, and put in a normal cup-full of it in my mouth. Now, for the fun part! I brush my teeth again gently - the gums, the nooks, the crannys, the toungue, back of the mouth as far as I can get, etc. - to get as much surfaces in my mouth brushed with the mouthwash in there. Yes, I lean over the sink and tend to drool, but I've gotten better at it with practice. My eyes can water from the sting, since it takes me over a minute to get all my surfaces, but I figure the tears go down the back of my throat and help wash things. I end up rinsing and rinsing with water afterwards just to get rid of the stinging, but its all worth it. I have found that the stubborn white coating cant be rinsed with just a half a minute of swishing; it needs to be brushed out!
The benefit of doing this twice a day for a couple days and then daily for a week or so gives me great results all through my body. This means that my digestion returns to normal (no longer constipated) and my vaginal yeasty beasty virgina dies down. In addition, I do take Femdophilus (refrigerated acidophilus from Whole Foods) twice/three times a day when I have a flair. (Once at night normally). I also take Azo Yeast (from any drug store) 4 times a day with a flair (twice a day normally). I have taken Diflucan in the past, once daily for thirty days to get rid of candida. This regimen works just as good for me! The only times I seem to have a flair now-a-days is when I run out of the Azo or the 'dophilus for more than a couple days. You'd think I'd learn...
Don't Douche
Posted by Mark (Las Vegas, Nv) on 02/23/2013
This is B.S. Women have used ACV as a douche for years to maintain Vaginal health. Douching is not always bad, especiually if something gets up there that needs to be washed out. Lake water, milk (from a milk bath, anything number of situations. Don't use high pressure.
If you douche with ACV, you should also be taking probiotics either orally or vaginally. I have had girl friends cure their infections using ACV and the women in my family all used it.
The don't douch hysteria is going way overboard.

I have have yeast infections the week before my period for the past 6 months or so....I was going crazy! Went to the OBGYN and she suggested that when I feel the slightest burn or itch that I put 1/2 cup of boric acid into a tub of slightly hot water about 2 inches deep and sit for 15 to 20 minutes before bed. She said that this would neutralize the inbalance of PH in the vagina. She said do this every night until infection is gone. (for about a week)
Boric Acid

Boric Acid has been a great remedy for my vaginal yeast infections. If you have BV it is not as good for a long-term solution. You may want to take an antibiotic cure and then use boric acid as a later treatment to prevent a yeast infection.
One thing though, if you want to really rid yourself of yeast infections, just remember to use the boric acid the whole span of treatment or else the infection will come back. Also NEVER ingest boric acid because it is toxic if ingested!
I was recommended to use it straight as a suppository for a full week, then stagger it every other night, then after a week of that stagger it every two nights, etc; until you don't use it at all.
Boric acid is antibacterial, but it doesn't kill the strains as well as antibiotic medicines (like metronidazole).
I am very excited to try the folic acid tx for my BV. I'll let you know if it works for me!
