WOW! After a very long awful battle with antibiotics my body was all out of whack. I had been on azo for awhile but even that wasn't working for me. I get on earthclinic and tried apple cider vinegar, absolutely did not work. I ate 1.5 cups plain organic yogurt, and my yeast infection was gone later that day. I've kept it up for awhile but I'm feeling MUCH better. This is the only thing that's worked the best for me.

The first time that I'd ever gotten a yeast infection it was a result of antibiotics. Ouch. It seems that I've battled them ever since. My vaginal discharge used to be clear and now even when there is no itching or burning it is whitish. I will try the plain yogurt overnight. I also noticed that I usually use a fake sugar with my coffee in the mornings. The past two weeks we've been out of fake sugar so I used real sugar. BIG mistake, turns out high blood sugar increases the amount of sugar that is in the vaginal fluid... Now the yeast is feeding off of that sugar and the infection is so bad that it's all up around my anus. I've douched with vinegar and it was clear discharge for the first time since the car accident. But the yeast came back with a vengance. So I bought Vagisil which only treats the symptoms and not the cause. I didn't have enough money to get monestat!

Tonight I shall get some plain unsweetened unflavored yogurt and insert it. I've been eating it but cannot consume the plain stuff, Azo Yeast Tablets were working great. But the discharge wasn't clear and sometimes they'd make me throw up! I believe that all of these symptoms are pointing to pre diabetes. (I'm 25 and experiencing numbness and vericose veins in my legs too)Type 2 runs in my family and I'd like to get checked. Type 2 is resolvable through diet and excercise. I've eliminated a lot of my real sugar intake and switched to organic when possible (health food stores don't take food stamps! ) but I may have to cut the sugar out completely if the test comes back positive. No exceptions ever. Please ladies, if you battle with yeast infections make sure to eliminate diabetes as a cause as diabetes does worse things to a body than making your vag an ideal sugary environment for growing candida. I will be sure to read the labels on the foods I buy more carefully now. No Autolyzed Yeast in my diet either!!!

@Rachel from Palm Bay I'm not sure if you frequent the website anymore, but I wanted to tell you that health food stores do take food stamps. I am unfamiliar with the Palm Bay area, but I do know that Fresh Market and a few Organic Farmer Markets accepts EBT.

Try just eating better - you don't need to go to a health food store, just go to a regular grocery store and cut the crap out of your diet. 25 and type II is terrible. Exercise!

Acidophilus, Vitamin E, Folic Acid
Posted by Violet (Chino, California) on 01/04/2011

Acidophilus, vitamin E, and folic acid. I have something similar to you, Sharon from San Antonio, Tx. I have had what I perceive as burning and hotness in vagina. As I have advanced in years and after menopause I find that dryness, burning and felling of hotness in vagina has increase, becoming really bad during intercourse. I have had many infections but I never consider this to be an infection. I would like to take the combination of Acidophilus, vitamin e, and folic acid to at least try to help myself. Could you tell me the quantity of acidophilus that you use. I already have the vitamin e and folic acid. I would appreciate it. Thank you

Sharon I thought you're story was inspirational, thanks for sharing. I have a question tho. Is it 400 mg or 400 mcg folic acid? I am using 5mg folic acid once a day along with 400 IU Vit E once a day. [I haven't added the acidophilus as yet. ] But is there anything wrong if I take this strength of folic acid for this condition. Will it work just the same? I couldn't find the 400 mg in the pharmacy.

Thanks

sharon, I just wanna ask when do you take the acidophilus pill, vit. E and folic acid during the day? is it an hour before breakfast or right after breakfast? do you take the 3 immediately before going to bed? is it necessary to refrigerate the acidophilus pills right after opening? I took the pills last march, but did not refrigerate it. I thot I was cured but now the yeast is back, maybe it had less effect as I did not refrigerate it. Im going to try the other vit. 3 and folic acid together with the acidophilus as you have tried..

hope you reply on this sharon.

thank you.

How did you get tested for the resistant strain of yeast? Which doctor did that for you? I'm having the same exact symptoms as you had... just burning for 2 years, but all the docs say there is no yeast. thanks

1ST.- FOR UTI TAKE A SHOT OF APPLE CIDER VINEGAR WHEN YOU FIRST START FEELING IT COMING ON. IT'S HARD TO KEEP DOWN BUT IT WORKS. ANYTIME I FEEL A UTI COMING ON A TAKE A SHOT AND IF IT'S REALLY BAD I TAKE TWO IN A ROW. I USE TO HAVE TO TAKE A LOT OF MEDICATIONS FOR UTI AND THEY NEVER KEPT IT AWAY. THIS DOES!

2ND- YEAST INFECTIONS:STOP EATING ALL SUGAR! CARBS ANYTHING WITH YEAST IN IT! AND NOT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT LIKE 3 WEEKS OR SO. ALSO DRINKING THE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR HELPS WITH YEAST INSIDE YOUR STOMACH. IF YOU KEEP GETTING THEM. I HAVE BEEN TESTED FOR EVERYTHING AND NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME BUT FOR SOME REASON I STILL GET THEM. IT'S BECAUSE I NEVER REALLY GOT RID OF THEM TO BEGIN WITH. AFTER YOU GET RID OF IT TRY USING SOME OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION LIKE ONCE A WEEK JUST TO KEEP IT AT BAY. AND I AM GOING TO TRY THE GARLIC THING AFTER I GO TO THE STORE. I HERD THE GARLIC GEL TABS ARE GOOD TO USE ALSO. SO I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THAT WORKS.

3RD- BV THIS IS MY BIGGEST PROBLEM TO DATE. I CAN'T GET RID OF THIS AND IT'S KILLING ME. IT HURTS I AM BLOATED AND IN PAIN. AND THE SMELL ISN'T BAD RIGHT NOW BUT IT HAS BEEN BEFORE. FORGET ABOUT HAVING SEX.. WHAT IS THAT... I JUST GOT DONE THE GEL STUFF FROM THE DR ONLY HELPED WHILE I TOOK IT TWO DAYS LATER AND I AM BACK IN PAIN AND IT MADE ME HAVE GIANT WHITE SPONGY DISCHARGE TOTALLY FREAKED ME OUT.. I HAD TO GET IT OUT WITH MY FINGER. I THOUGH IT WAS A YEAST INFECTION BUT IT WASN'T DR FORGOT TO TELL ME THIS. THANK GOD ANOTHER GIRL WROTE ABOUT IT AND NOW I AM NOT SO SCARED OR FREAKED OUT. I STARTED TAKING LIVE Acidophilis IT'S LIKE YOGURT BUT NOT.. THIS IS WHAT I AM GOING TO START TAKING EVERYDAY AND I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW IF THIS WORKS OR NOT. FOLIC ACID AS HIGH OF A DOSE AS I CAN FIND, B12 COMPLEX TABLET WHICH DISSOLVES 5,000MG TAKE TWO PILLS 2 TIMES A DAY AND IT ALSO HAS FOLIC ACID IN IT. VITAMIN C, LIVE ACIDOPHILIS PILLS 3 TIMES A DAY FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES. I AM GOING TO TAKE GARLIC PILLS TO KEEP YEAST OUT OF MY SYSTEM AS WELL.

THIS IS A FIGHT I HAVE BEEN PUTTING OFF FOR YEARS. I LOVE SUGAR AND CARBS AND TO DRINK ONCE IN A WHILE. PLUS I JUST QUIT SMOKING WHICH CAN ALSO CAUSE YEAST PROBLEMS. LADIES IT IS UP TO US TO TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES THESE STUPID DRS HAVE TO GIVE US THIS BAD MEDICATION BECAUSE ITS THE LAW OR SOMETHING. WE HAVE TO STAY STRONG AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER IN THIS FIGHT. IF MEN ONLY COULD UNDERSTAND WHAT WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH. IT'S HELL... HOPE TO FIND ALL OF YOU IN GOOD HEALTH. KEEP WRITING AND DON'T GIVE UP HOPE ON YOURSELF AN THE FIGHT WE ALL HAVE WITHIN OURSELVES TO EAT RIGHT AND TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES.

How do you treat your partner for a yeast infection? Would he apply diluted Apple Cider Vinegar and for how long or simply yogurt and for how long, etc.... Or dust with some boric acid????

Thank you so much!

Julianna

Boric Acid
Posted by Rs (Sf, Ca) on 05/18/2015

Hi Julianna,

I dont think boric acid is intended for use by males. It is used internally by women who have bacterial vaginosis, and not necessarily yeast infections, although you might as well give it a shot because most likely you have BV. I had it for about 8 years and used boric acid capsules almost daily. This works, but I also found that drinking alkaline water and taking alkaline supplements has completely take away the symptoms. There is NO cure for BV currently, so your struggle is to keep it at bay and from reoccurring. I started my alkaline experiment a few months ago and I have had no BV symptoms since then. I drink bottled pH balanced water (ready the labels for pH level....8.5-9.5 is best). Yeast and bacteria cannot survive in an alkaline environment. Your partner probably needs to see a doctor for a prescription because boric acid is NOT meant to be "dusted" on your body....and apple cider vinegar should not be put on a man's penis. It is basically acid and is also used for facial chemical peels...you get the idea. Have your boyfriend drink alkaline water and try the alkaline supplements. Get this online at Amazon.com. Its much less expensive than going to a health food store. Trust me. Do NOT use boric acid externally!!!!!!!!!!

I have been dealing with a vaginal yeast infection for 2 years now. It began as a BV/ yeast infection. It took one year to get rid of the bacterial infection and now the yeast is extremely hard to kill. I have tried everything from increasing my water intake (always with lemon), taking B vitamins, folic acid, inserting probiotics, orally taking probiotics, eating yogurt daily, ACV 2 tablespoons morning and night, ACV douching, yogurt douching, tea tree oil douching and tampons, eliminating alcohol, carbs, and sugars, diflucan and OTC creams and suppositories do nothing, and now I've recently finished a round of itraconazole. But, two days ago I decided what the hell I'm just going to make my own remedy... I have created an herbal douch that seems to be working wonders! I am only 2 days in but I will keep updating my findings... the recipe is 3 heaping tablespoons of plain organic yogurt, 1 part ACV, 3 oil of oregano (mediterranean) capsules at 460 mg, and 1 part dandelion and cinnamon tea made by boiling 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks with 2TBS chopped dandelion root and blend that all together in a blender. It needs to be refrigerated and I recomend just making enough for one day of douching (once in the morning and once at night) I expect to be done with this in 5 to 10 days. I will keep everyone updated! I am excited to feel my abdominal pain gone and pinkness returning! I will continue to take yogurt, ACV and the oil of oregano orally.

Ok... I've updated my regimen from the above post. The oil of oregano was a little harsh even when the mixture was diluted half with water so this is what I've been doing the past 3 days with amazing results. I blended 3 whopping TBS yogurt, 2 TBS acv, 2 TBS aloe, 3 garlic cloves, 3 refrigerated probiotics (containing acidophilus, rhamosus, and rhuteri) and 2 TBS olive oil (must be refrigerated). Instead of douching which is harder on my body I have just been inserting this mixture and on the outside. Also I take yogurt, oil of oregano, previously mentioned probiotic mixture, acv, and vitamen C daily. The redness has gone away a lot and I have not noticed any discharge. I apply this mixture several times a day whenever I feel the itch returning. I hope this is my answer...I guess a full 2 weeks is in order to prove this one way or another.

A quick cure for yeast infections is to cut off a piece of aloe vera, remove the skin and insert it like a tampon. It burns, so it is difficult to keep there. Just putting some of the aloe vera gel on, also helps. You will have immediate relief, but keep doing it for atleast 3 days to prevent recurrence.

Hi, I also have been using a piece of the aloe gel inserted into the vagina to treat yeast infections. I wrap it in a thin piece of sterilized gouze and tie one end with a piece of dental floss and then I put 2 or three drops of tea tree oil on it before inserting. In the beginning it iches like mad and after 5 mins it goes away. In the morning I pull it out and feel much better!! It really works for me. If anyone has any other ideas to substitute the gauze and the dental floss please let me know! Thanks

Apple Cider Vinegar

Okay, so I really do struggle with yeast infections pretty frequently. The things I have found most helpful are Apple Cider Vinegar (douching) and Boric Acid powder in capsules. There used to be a natural product that used boric acid for yeast infections but then they re-formulated it and since they brought the boric acid powder content way down, it doesn't work for me at all. I'm afraid to mention a product name because I think it says not to do that. Anyway, it's clear to me from what I read here that the people for who ACV did not work at all are dealing with something other than a yeast infection. Yeast is not a bacteria, it's a fungus. You don't take anti-biotics for it, in fact they cause yeast. Diflucan is prescribed for yeast infections and it's not an anti-biotic. Bacteria Vaginitis, however, is a bacterial infection and they do prescribe anti-biotics for it. I'm still suffering with my current yeast infection but the ACV is really making a huge difference. It's strange to me that some people find yeast infections very painful. It just itches like crazy, makes me crazy, and makes me want to do crazy things like pull my hair out or run through a brick wall or scream at a pharmacy clerk until she might cry (did that today, not proud of it). I'm just glad my 2 year old and I survived the day. I'm putting her off on my husband as soon as he gets home. Anyway, I'm going to do some more douching with the ACV or maybe I'll try a bath. By the way, I also shoved garlic up there, it gave some temporary relief but very temporary. No immediate help from acidopholus in any form but I think it tends to help prevent them. I also have to stay away from my antacids, combined with PMS, my period, or sex they cause yeast infections. YEA on ACV

ACV douching also works well for anal yeast infections. 1 tbsp in 1 cup water once per day for a week or so and the infection was gone! Took care of a recurring anal yeast infection that fluconazole wouldn't kill.

Actually inserting plain yogurt in your vagina is a disaster, don't do it!! I did it 3 times over the course of years of struggling with this, and it made things WORSE everytime. However consuming yogurt is awesome. Eat lots and lots of yougurt and take a good probiotic. I make my own yougurt, and by eating alot of it, (and its wonderful and tastes better to make your own) I keep things at bay

Yeast-Free Diet

Yeast free diet cured me of yeast infections

I used to have recurrent painful, debilitating yeast infections. I would sometimes get a red rash as well. The treatment was a three day dose of Sulpha tablets followed by yeast infections inserts and cream. This worked but began to deplete my energy and immune health after a while. On a whim one day I decided to try giving up yeast. This was five years ago and since that day I have not had a single yeast infection. It is hard to give up yeast. Not only is it in almost all processed foods, it is also hidden. Enriched flour, citric acid, soy sauce, vinegar, natural flavor and and vitamins is how it is added and hidden in most foods. I make all my own foods basically and that is alot of work( fortunately I love to cook) but the pay off is that I am completely free of yeast infections and my immune health is so strong that now if I do occasionally eat yeast containing food I do not get infections and my body will naturally clean itself out within a few days.

A healthy (low or no sugar, salt and bad fats, preferably vegetarian or vegan )yeast free diet is the easiest way to cure yourself of this ailment and it works. I also eat alot of acidic fruit like kiwi, cranberries and eat alot of greens which helps alot as well.

For vegans- watch out for soy products (soy milk, meat, dairy) as they almost always contain yeast. It is added as Vitamin B12 or D and labeled as such or sometimes as "natural flavoring".

Also- nutritional yeast is okay but you need to boil it for 20 minutes to kill any living yeast and use it only occasionally. It is an inactive yeast but can still cause yeast to overgrow in your system. It is common in vegan food as a Vit B12 supplement and flavoring additive.

To Jenn apple cider for yeasts infections. I do know that Apple Cider Vinegar works very well for sinus problems, and I don't doubt that it is wonderful for so many other ailments; however, you did take a 1-day Monistat treatment. If you read the insert for information you would see that it takes up to 7 days for the medicine to work. So, for you, it could have been the Monistat that helped your yeast infection--in your case. I'm not saying Apple Cider Vinegar doesn't work. This is just a FYI if you ever visit this site again! Thanks.

A reply to Betty from Salt Lake city. You are a little over-reacting about the fact that we are making our own boric acid capsules. The compounding pharmacy does the very same thing we are doing: placing pharmaceutical grade boric acid into empty gel caps. Nothing more complicated and easily replicated at home. Much cheaper too. It is also incorrect that the boric acid we are suggesting is found in the pest control aisle. That is the wrong product, though is does contain boric acid. The correct boric acid is pharmaceutical grade, sold in a pharmacy, in the aisle where the disinfectants are sold. Ours has it beside the alcohol, peroxide, iodine, methylene blue... The fact that it also happens to kill insect is irrelevant. The fact that water is an ingredient in hand sanitizer does make water unsafe.

Posted by Melissa (Garner, Nc) on 11/22/2016

There are bad and good yeasts. ACV has only beneficial and healthy yeast in it. This is the yeast that acts as a prebiotic to feed your good bacteria which makes it stronger. Other vinegars like white vinegar are made of the bad yeasts. Never use or consume those if you have candida issues.

Garlic for Vaginal Yeast Infection... O ya! I was reluctant to try inserting raw Garlic in their but after bad itching and discomfort, I took 3 cloves of garlic and put it in a thread that I can pull it out later on, inserted it at night, and in 4 hours took it out. And guess what! I am a new woman again :-) Thanks EC.

Garlic cured my yeast infection. The quickest way to cure a yeast infection naturally is to take a clove of garlic ON A STRING (I learned the hard way...) and use it as a vaginal suppository. After 2 days and 2 nights, no itching! If you do not use a string, the clove might have to be taken out by a friend or your partner. I have also tried dicing up 1 small clove of garlic and swallowing the pieces whole (do not chew) with a glass of water. I did this 2-3 times a day for a week and had good results.

Something I tried for a recurring yeast infection that worked 10 years ago and I never had it again may work for BV but I can't try it because my monthly was not regular and now I don't have one. Take 2 acidophilus pills (normal dose in the bottle)for the 2 nights before your period starts and 2 nights after they end. My doctor told me acidophilus won't work for BV but this is better then inserting them vaginally and bleeding. I don't know how long to take them. I took them for 6 months and it also helped my constipation. Ten years later I am still regular were I never was before. So this will defintely help yeast infections and regularity. My thought is that acidophilus is good for the vaginal flora which SHOULD be good for BV but I can't test it.
