Just read about your attempt to loose weight using ACV. Do NOT use ACV from any plain supermarket. ONLY use ACV purchased from a health food store. It has to be ACV with the "mother" in it. You'll see the "mother" because it is the sedament at the bottom of the bottle. A boss years ago was enormous and went on the ACV diet. He used to drink it by the glassfulls, which I don't think now is the way to do it but, he got slim and gorgeous. Good luck.

My husband has been doing the APV for about a month or so and he has lost alot of weight. Every time I try it I get a yeast infection. Why is this and how can I get this to stop so I can lose wieght? I have been doing store brand or Trader Joe's, about 2 capfuls to about half cup of water. Also I hear APV is good for getting rid of yeast infections however I am afraid to try since I believe that is the cause of my infection. HELP!!!!!!

I learned years back to loose weight one needs to heat lipton tea with 1 tbsp honey and 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar for breakfast before eating anything. Again two or three times a day. From what I remember if you did more vinegar it doesnt help as you only need a total of 3 tsp or tbsps can't remember....

I lost 5 lbs in one week. unfortunately, i haven't been able to use it this week because i have reocurring bacterial vaginosis and i read on this site that the acv could make it worse. it's not as bad as usual though, but i've also found remedies for that on here!!! thanks so much for the posts!!!

Response to Vicky:
I'm not sure what 75 kilos is in pounds, but a 37" waist is NOT that big. When I started the ACV, my waist was 63" and 280lbs . . . so you see why I really think that the ACV works for really overweight people. Maybe you should increase the amount of psyllium you are taking and aerobic exercise will definitely help, but it takes some time. Also, wearing a girdle regularly may help your ab muscles. Don't be so hard on yourself! All the best to you!

Hey Vicki, I was 134 lbs and I started taking ACV. I gained weight with that. Gained about 2-3 lbs. Reason being that I took ACV after meals instead of before meals. I have heard that if u drink ACV before meals, then you loose weight and if u take it after meals, then u gain weight. Well, since I had gained weight with that, I lost trust and stopped it. So I believe that ACV only works if u r really over weight, not if you just want to loose a few lbs. Also I started drinking this: take a big glass of warm water, add 3 table spoons of lemon water with 1 teaspoon of honey. Drink that in the morning as soon as u wake up and once before going to bed. I am now 130. Still have 10 lbs to loose, but am not in rush for that. You can either try the lemon water and honey or drink ACV before meals. You will read my posts below, where I was also very depressed that ACV did not work for me, esp cause it worked for everyone else, but me!

I have a new goal I'm working toward...not only would I like to lose another 45lbs, but I would like 2 wear a bikini for the first time in my life this summer.I'm goin to keep doing what I'm doing while incorporating light exercise and God willing, I will go to beach without a cover up. I'm elated. Thanx for all the support. I'm going to go on hiatus until probably mid June . I'll report update then.

Based on what I've read, I really think that ACV is beneficial for really overweight people perhaps with some yeast issues going on. I did take it at 280lbs, lost 16lbs in 2 months and still losing weight. I took the store brand for the first month and then switched to the ___ Organic because I've read so much about it being the best. I have also somewhat watched my eating and added some light exercise, nothing very drastic, so I really believe that the ACV is helping. I can say that my stomach is getting flatter for the first time in years and my complexion has a lighter more youthful glow. I just prepare a huge water bottle of 64 oz and splash in about 2 tablespoons ACV and sip it throughout the day at work. I might also do another 2 tablespoons in the am and pm when I remember. I give ACV a YEA!

Nipa, I think you need to give it more time. Another poster experienced the same thing and after a month she noticed weight loss, were the two weeks that you did it around that time of month where we naturally gain weight? And you need the type of ACV with the mother in it. I felt like I bloated and gained weight too. then I stopped it like you I felt much better on the ACV as it helps with so many things. Don't be discouraged....

I also take about 2tsp of pysllium husk twice a day. Am I doing this diet correctly? I am desperate to lose weight. I am 5'7"and about 75kilos. Ellie, are you serious? May be that's why I gained the weight. Because I use to drink it after my meal, thinking it would help burning the fat of what I just ate. I guess I was wrong. I hope the directions were the bit more clearer! I stopped it since a week now and lost my 2-3 lbs that I had gained. Dont think I will try it again now, just lost faith in it. And cannot afford gaining weight, cause it's sooooo hard to loose it again!

For Isabelle from Tampa, Fla.
Hello and congratulations on that weight loss. However that "have a Slimfast drink" for breakfast caught my eye. I find that a lot of the so called health foods and drinks to help you lose weight have one or both of those excitotoxins in them which may be preventing you from losing more weight, as both monosodium glutamate (MSG) and aspartame are noted for causing weight gain. So look up those names they hide MSG under and go read the ingredients on your Slimfast drink, especially looking for any hydrolyzed plant (corn, soy or other) protein, because it contains both MSG and aspartame.

Hey All,
I'm back! My last post was on Feb 4. I was 246lbs on Feb. 5. Today I weigh 235 lbs. I feel great. I'm the last month I haven't done anything different besides I did Tae Bo 3 times.I consume between 1500 and 1800 calories per day. I got a few emails from people asking what they were doing wrong because it wasn't working for them. Honestly, I only know what I've actually done myself so if you are using another brand or taking more or less then that may be why you are having a problem. I recommend _____s. I'm still very satisfied with ACV. I even splurge every now and then and have pizza or donouts, but I have 1 slice or 1 donut and THATS IT!! In moderation.I'll check back soon. Oh yeah My waist used to mesaure 49 inches and now its 43inches.

And I just had a baby about 8 months ago, so as soon as I go home after work, I am running around after her. Nipa, if you aren't losing weight, then it may be because you are consuming more calories than you are currently burning off. Either cut the calories down or exercise for at least 45 minutes to burn off what calories you are consuming. The apple cider vinegar should help in the process.

In response to someone's post about no weight loss (I believe it was after using it for 1-2 weeks)... the reports for ACV and weight loss indicate SLOW weight loss, but the weight reportedly stays off.
The following is from another ACV site siting a study done by Professor Carol S. Johnston, a nutritionist at the Arizona State University East in Mesa, to further investigate the beneficial relationship between vinegar and diabetes. The subjects were not engaged in study-related diet/exercise for weight loss.
"As an unexpected side effect she found that her test subjects were losing weight! They were taking two tablespoons of vinegar before each of two meals daily. The average weight loss over the four weeks was two pounds (several people lost up to four pounds)"

In response to someone's question about what kind/where to get ACV.... I read it should be "unfiltered, unpasteurized, and not distilled". I use one of the most popular brands and it just lists "raw and unfiltered" on the label.
I buy it at Whole Foods but I know my dad used to buy it before WF became prevalent so check your local supermarkets or health food stores.
Someone else said the regular Whole Foods or Trader Joe's brands are good. You can even ask your local supermarket if they can carry _____ brand.

A couple of things from me...first, if anyone has csid reflux, please quit buying the otc tablet stuff and the bottles. Just take about 1 tsp. and if in about 5 min. the acid reflux persists, take 1 more tsp. It does work...no doubt.
My question to all....Can I buy ACV in any grocery store, or do I need to get @ health food store? In the future, could all who read this, please say where to buy? This is important, for some products are not absorbed into the body.
Also a side note, if any folks would like to learn how to grow very healthy veggies and fruit, I will gladly show how to build a healthy soil system. thanks a lot I love this page, God helped me find you!

This is specifically to Anil of Hammond, Louisiana, where should I begin??!! Both your blood pressure & glucose readings change constantly throughout your day, your blood pressure changes with EVERY BEAT OF YOUR HEART!!! I'm sincerely hoping you took MANY readings to come up with an average if you are making ANY decisions concerning your health regimen. Two reading in two months is staggeringly inadequate. Plus, 119 is not "elevated" depending on when you took it. (your blood glucose goes as high or higher than 150mg/Dl after meals throughout your day) some people high than that. Serial readings are in order before you make any changes or decisions regarding the same.
Good luck.

Hey all,
I just wanted to report my experience with using ACV for the second time. I initially started in July 07 and took it for about 5 weeks and lost 18lbs. I was taking 2Tlbsp of Acv, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 Tblspn of honey. I didn't stop bcuz it wasn't working, I just got caught up with life...I graduated college, moved, had deaths n accidents in my family and started workin 2 jobs...so I just slowly got out of the habit of taking it. I wasn't watching what I ate or exercising, but I never gained the weight back. I started @ 262 and went down to 255.I stayed 255 until Jan 1, 2009 when I re dedicated myself to getting healthy.....I have changed my dosage to the new revised recipe on here...which is 2 teaspoons of acv in 16 ounces of water (2 cups)...and I sip throughout the day. I prepare a weeks worth of water bottles in advice n take it with me to work n school....So far since the 1st of Jan....I have lost 16lbs....n its only Feb 5th. I haven't worked out one day.I have a slim fast shake in the morning followed by a few gulps of acv mix...then I have salad or fruits for lunch n whatever I want for dinner...as long as u take a few sips b4 n after meals....u will lose weight. I notice my stomach slimming the most. I don't know how people can say this doesn't work. I want to take it for the rest of my life..bcuz my hair is long n shiny, I have a lot more energey(hence I'm wide awake @ 5am writing this) and I have had severe back back from some pinched nerves in my back....I used to take 6 to 10 tylenol or motrin to get through the day....and to me its amazing that I haven't taken any pain meds for my back since I started acv again.I swear by it. Try it. It has so many health benefits , that you have nothing to lose.Ill post my progress again @ the end of Feb. As of 2day I weigh 246lbs. Hope this helps....Good Luck!!

Apple Cider Vinegar does Deter the Appetite if you drink it STRAIGHT, a couple of Tablespoons a couple of times everyday. Its main benefit is that it RIDS the Human ORGANS of Parasites that attach & live in our organs that we All get from Mosquitos, Water, Coffee Beans, Food, Salads, Walking Bare Feet. If you don't want it to deter your appetite and you only take it for the health benefits add water.

In response to Anthony of Ft. Meyers: Having been "personal trainer" for a decade, you will have observed great differences in how individual bodies respond to physical training. The same is true for each individual's metabolism, and physical constitution.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with "filling up on this calorie-free liquid" but rather has to do with the malic acid and acetic acid in the vinegar. Both of these stimulate the liver to metabolize fats and sugars for energy instead of sending it to cells to be stored as adipose tissue. I personally believe that the acids in vinegar cause the digestive organs to secrete more lipase, the enzyme that digests fats, and the main enzyme that all obese people are deficient in.
I take ACV. I also take BSM. The combination of these 2 supplements have caused me to lose quite a few pounds, substantially decreased my menstrual migraines, restored my (missing for almost a decade) sex drive, and seem to have somewhat balanced my hormones. Apple Cider Vinegar is a remedy so old that its origins are unknown. Frequently, the old ways are the best ways.

Hi Ekta, you may be gaining weight because your fat might be converting to muscle if your clothes are not getting tight because muscle weighs so much more than fat. if that's not the case then, u may have another problem, mine was "sleep apnea" (i'm sure i didn't spell that right) for some reason it kept me from loosing weight. Now I combine 1/2cup Acv & 1/2 cup raw honey in a 2 quart pitcher. that, for me, is a two day supply. good luck

Apple Cider Vinegar: This is the best by far. I love it, and have become addicted to using it. It has now become a part of my daily routine. I take 2 tsp to an 8oz glass of water in the morning upon awaking, and then go about my business. I find the early morning remedy gives me a burst of energy, and I think we all could use that first thing in the morning..ha ha. I drink the same amount after eating a light breakfast usually about 10am-ish. I again take it after eating a light lunch. Again after a light dinner. I follow a low carb diet, and do try to watch my fats, but I am telling you...this works for me. I started following a low carb lifestyle approximately 4 years ago, prior to my use of the apple cider vinegar. I weighed 158 lbs, and I dropped 30 lbs within 4-5 months. I was able to keep it off for about 3 years, and then slowly started to regain over the past 1-2 years. I weighed 143 about a month ago, and I was at the point where I was NOT going back to 158 again. I started the apple cider vinegar. I now weigh 138, and I am full of energy...major plus!
I have read almost every post on this site and I am amazed at how much it has helped many of you. I know though, as in any other remedy out there, this may not work for everyone, but it does work for me. I am very intersted in trying the coconut oil now as well. I have elevated cholestrol, but not to the point of danger, although the high cholestrol runs in my family, as does heart disease on both sides of my family, so I figure it cannot hurt to give it a try. I am a 39 year old female, and have become very interested in living as healthy of a lifestyle as possible. I see a chiropractor twice a week as well, who is very supportive of this. I wish everyone all the luck in trying this. To those that have had hard time with it, never give up..keep the faith. A big thank you to the creators of this site. Julie-Michigan

I love this website! My husband has always loved organic this and that, and I grew up on store bought chemicals. I don't know if it's a midlife crisis hitting me at 32, but he's getting ready to teach me how to make homemade soaps. I have got most of the stuff I need for shampoo/conditioners; and today, I went the Health Food Store and purchased the Organic ACV and bunch of other stuff. I hope the ACV works for me in weight loss; I could stand to drop about 30#. I am going to start with a low dosage then increase as I adjust to it. And I am hoping that the ACV with BSM will eleviate my chronic reflux or whatever it is.....I have been so uncomfortable for months now and don't want to go to a bland diet. I will post at a later time with any results whether positive or negative! Thanks
