I began using Castor Oil Packs [COP] a few years ago and can swear by them...even my mother swears by it now after falling and damaging her knee...all was well overnight after applying the COP method. Another use has been for liver spots; religiously applying CO has lightened them and also improved my skin.

I am 42 years old and have had a yellow callous like spot on the white of my eyes. I grew up at the beach but never wore sunglasses. After reading how castor oil helps with cateracts and other eye problems. I tried it. I put a drop in each eye. After doing this for about 4 times in the course of 2 weeks, the yellow spot was completely gone. It really is gone.

Hey EC,

just wanted to let u know that castor oil works! I fell last Sunday. landed on my hand/wrist and thought 4 sure it was broken. swollen, blue, blood blisters, everything. I kept ice on it all night and when I woke up it was worse. so I went Monday morn to have it xrayed. to everyone's surprise, it was not broken so I went and bought castor oil. 5.99 and wrapped my hand before bed. i fell asleep and woke up 3 hrs later took the wrap off and to my surprise, I could open my hand all the way and had no swelling and no pain. i could nt believe it! i went and turned on the light to check for the bruising. it was still there but it looked like a week old. u know when it starts to turn brown. so I did it again the next night. and only left it on for an hour. the bruise was almost gone. and it's now Monday of the next week and you would never know that a week ago I was being xrayed for broken bones.

I posted a question last week asking about castor oil for hyperthyroid and no one answered but I'm going for it. with amazing results on my hand, i have figured I will try and let u know what happens. I have never used this before last Monday but I'm a firm believer now. thanks ec. thanks edgar cayce. thanks God!

If you've ever been hit by a ball or smashed your finger then "Castor Oil" is your best bet. As soon as the hit or smash occurs, saturate the entire area with Castor oil and leave on. Really lay it on! This has been advice that was given by a medical practitioner some 40 yrs. ago and it works. It will also remove blood blisters, take the swelling down and stop the pain. I was hit in the arm muscle with a zinger grounder and immediately applied my Castor oil. It took out the pain and never swelled and where I did not go down my arm far enough it did bruise, but where I applied the Castor oil it did NOT bruise. It's awesome for toddlers who constantly are falling. Apply ice on top of the Castor oil if you wish, but many times it's unavailable and the oil is handy to carry on you in a small bottle.

I have Shih Tzus and one of them isn't eating his food. I always try natural cures and use Organic Apple Cider Vinegar in their food for the immune system and chinese herbs. I took Amos who is 11years old to the vet for blood work and will let you know his results. He had girgle lose fleem in his throat up to his nose. When I took him my retired vet he had him on medication but it causes stomach naseau, so my vet who I use for emergency operations if needed told me to stop the medcation which I did anyway. He is alway happy jumps around and eats. Maybe whatever he has is breaking lose in his throat as he had swollen lymph nodes/glands and now they aren't swollen.

My question is can I use castor oil on his throat area and just rub it in? as I know it has many healing advantages. Please let me know. I'm also getting chinese herbs as they help my one dog when her legs were dragging, been 2 years as she is fine.

Castor Oil cured my insomnia and a Pterygium on my left eye. A pterygium is fatty deposit from wind/dust that affects one or both eyes. There is no pain, but it looks gross. I first got this while living in West Texas and was diagnosed by an Ophthalmologist. My doctor told me that it is not serious unless it starts growing towards the pupil and therefore, should be removed because it will affect my eye sight. My pterygium over the years was getting closer and closer to my pupil as the years have gone by. I knew that very soon I would have to have surgery to have it removed. I started the castor oil therapy about 2 weeks ago for my insomnia and just about 2 days ago I was looking in the mirror and look at my eyes and had to do a double take. The pterygium is almost gone! It is very thin and is not noticeable at all. I am so happy! I started using castor oil for insomnia and that was successful and at the same time cured my pterygium. Thank you so much. :D

Re: Castor Oil for eyelashes

Tried and true. i used an old mascara brush (cleansed properly) and i apply some castor oil to the brush. Right before bedtime i apply it like you would apply mascara from root to tip of lashes. Be consistent and it works. I saw a minor change/improvement in about 2 weeks and i kept doing it for more results.

I have found that a good quality castor oil rubbed into the foot for about 5 minutes will relieve foot soreness temporarily. Hope this is helpful.

I've been using castor oil packs as a healing treatment off and on for years since first learning of their efficacy from a 'holistic' doctor here in Phoenix. Once years ago I accidentally slammed a car door on my ankle which caused tremendous swelling and bruising and I simply could not bear any weight on my foot. Elevated the leg and wrapped the ankle in a rag soaked with castor oil and applied heating pad over ankle. Remained that way for most of the night and upon waking, nearly all swelling and bruising was gone and I was able to walk and bear weight on injured ankle again! Amazing.

Several years ago tripped and fell down a flight of concrete stairs landing on both knees. Both knees swelled and were in excruciating pain. Proceeded to lie down with both legs elevated on top of several pillows and applied a well-soaked castor oil pack to each knee. Placed heating pad on top. Next morning - pain, stiffness and swelling was 95% gone and was able to go about my normal activities.

Am currently working on severe tendonitis in right shoulder affecting rotator cup and extending down right arm, using castor oil treatments at night. Will let you know results.

Gum Infections

As a proven believer in Castor Oil, the other morning I awoke with a very sore gum in the vicinity of my right canine tooth. A look in the mirror indicated it was blood red, very tender, but no blood excreted when massaging. I generally 'oil' with Sesame Oil, but thought 'Why not try CO?'... Two 20 minute sessions [about 3-4 hours inbetween] and a session at bed time. I excreted all of the 'oiling', but let the CO coating remain in my mouth over night...the next morning it was 95% better; a repeat of the previous day's treatment produced a 100% recovery by the following evening...no redness, no tenderness and a normal, healthy gum..

Eye Stye

I just wanted to share my success with using castor oil for stys. I frequently get little bumps around my eyes that look like whiteheads, had some particularly irritating ones just on the edge of the eyelid that rubbed the eye. Ouch! I tried the baby shampoo which got rid of most, but some stubborn ones remained so I tried castor oil. First of all it's very soothing and didn't bother my eyes like the shampoo, especially since it was unavoidable to get in the eye bc of location. I just used a qtip and smoothed it over both lash lines and around the eyelid and let it sit overnight. My stys cleared up around 24-48 hours. I kept at it a little longer, it feels nice and hopefully will prevent anymore.

Cold-Pressed Castor Oil
Posted by Stacey (Berlin, Germany) on 09/14/2009

Cold-pressed oil is considered superior to other methods of oil extraction because heat and solvent based processing often destroys the active ingredients in beneficial oils. You can find cold-pressed oils at a healthfood store. They are often organic as well, so expect to pay more. The are better than regular oil, but regular castor oil is better than nothing.

Update to my post: The dark age spots I started using the castor oil on are almost completely gone! My skin looks so much better - my mother and father when I showed them thought I had been wearing extra makeup! Such a god-send - thank you for the tip!!

Age Spots

I'm in my late 30s and a few years ago, after my first pregnancy, I started get a number of small sun/age spots/freckles on my face. About a year ago, I got two on the top of my checkbones under my eyes, where my glasses rest. They are big in comparison and made me look much older than I am (at least to me!) Ive been very hesitant to use any medical or chemical procedures - prescriptions, laser treatments, etc. I read here and on one other site about caster oil and thought Id give it a shot before spending way too much money on natural beauty products on the market (one was for over $40, vs the $5 castor oil!). Its been a little over a week now, dipping a cotton swab into the oil and applying twice daily after washing my face. I rub it in a little and wait about 10 minutes before applying daily or nighttime lotion. The spots have lightened DRAMATICALLY! I barely have to use any coverup on them when before I had to cake it on. I cant wait to see what they look like in a month! My skin where i have used it is looking much better, too, although I cant quite pinpoint why - smaller pores, tighter, fewer lines...not sure yet. Ive started using it on my "worry crease" between my eyebrows and have also noticed a difference!

Thanks, Alyson

Warts

As a teenager I had five "seed" warts on my right middle finger. They drove me nuts for a about three years until my mother suggested I use castor oil. I would soak small pieces of of a cotton ball in the castor and then place it on the wart held on with surgical tape. After about three weeks of this all of my warts had disolved. There was no scar and the surrounding skin was not effected. I hear that castor oil is also good for longer, thicker eye lashes.

Shingles

Shingles treatment: My mother used a high quality pure castor oil slathered on the worst spots. She applied it most heavily at night and wore old pajamas because it's messy, but it worked immediately for her. We found the remedy somewhere online, years ago, so I can't reference it. But it worked.
