Fleas, Bed Bugs

Diatomaceous earth is amazing! It works wonders as a dust bath for fleas on my dogs and I even had a friend that used it for bed bugs! Bed bugs is apparently a huge epidemic right now and so I thought I would share what my friend learned from her experience. As everyone has suggested make sure you use food grade d.e. but also make sure that it is in a powdered granulation... Not fine! And most importantly she was told not to put it right on top of the matress but rather to put it in the cracks and crevices, in the boxspring, on the headboard, etc. Where the bed bugs will hide!

I bought my DE at a pets health food store. You may want to try that.

Do a search on the internet-it is the only way I could find it. Buy a giant bag, because it stays and it is a fortune for shipping. We got it from a vendor through Amazon.com and Amazon guarantees the authenticity (I think). Anyway, be sure to get FOOD GRADE-it is not the stuff at the pool store. Oh, and people say to put it on floors then vacuum it up in a few days. I had some nightmare trying to get it off of my floors! It broke our vacuum-don't bother. I have been taking it for the parasite problem (mystery) 3x a day in water w/crystal light and I feel much better. My problem, however, is nowhere near done. I am going to try a raw coconut cleanse and using coconut oil (not hydrogenated??) Make sure it is pure and unprocessed. Let me know how you do. Good Luck.

Diatomaceous Earth is completely safe to use, as long as it's human/food grade and NOT pool grade. Most garden stores sell it as well as a plethora of websites. My only suggestion is to not put it on your carpet. Some people have a lot of luck with this, it mostly just made my vacuum cleaner sound [permanently terrible. It still runs fine, there's just a terrible noise when it's running and I can't seem to figure out the real cause (I've taken it apart down to the motor). Also, it's not healthy to breathe in ANY dusts, so wear a mask and remove your pets until the dust settles. Otherwise it's okay for you AND your pets to consume, it's okay to put some on your pets coat (although use caution, it can dry them out). It is a natural dewormer and will rid your animals of every worm EXCEPT for heart-worms. You need about 1 tsp for cats and small dogs, 2 tsp for bigger dogs... 1 tbsp for humans. It really has a lot of benefits. I strongly urge you to research it. I've found the best remedy for fleas is this... Make sure you've found a successful treatment for your animals. I had to switch spot-on treatments because the one I had been using for years was no longer effective. Then you need to treat the infected areas.. Best method for me? Frequent vacuuming. 3-4 times a week, every day if you can manage it. Make sure you throw the bag out or empty the canister outside. I also recommend NOT bathing your animals in chemicals... If you feel it's necessary to bathe them, try to use something like the original Dawn soap, and make sure the first place you get wet and put soap is around the neck... Fleas will always try to travel up to escape... You should never put soap or lots of water on your pets face, so treat the neck FIRST and get it good and lathered. If you wouldn't use it yourself, you probably shouldn't use it on your animals.

Dermatitis

Thank you so much for this website! After searching the web for a cure to my decades-long battle with self-diagnosed eczema, I have found that diatomaceous earth has shown great promise! For years I've suffered from diagnosed neurodermatitis.

My skin would errupt in red spots that would itch almost nonstop, bleed, scab over, spread a bit and continue this pattern. The cycle would usually end with another trip to yet another dermatologist for stronger and stronger steroid medications (usually topical creams, but too often oral meds also).

Eventually the rash would turn from red to brown and begin to dry up leaving a very dark brown large area of discoloration. This would take months to clear up with the help of retin-a creams.

After searching Earth Clinic's site for more natural cures, I found several entries noting 100% pure diatomaceousearth to cure fungal infections. I had about 2.5 pound of this stuff on hand and decided to try it. Well, the reviews suggested ingesting it. I'd done that in the past when dealing with other issues. This time I was trying Borax and baking soda as suggested by Ted and didn't want to mix it up too much.

So, I tried applying the de topically, straight from the bag. It's a fine powder just like talc. It immediately soothed the itch, and after a few hours the redness had decres by 50%.

The eczema rash on my face has dissappeared!! My facial acne is history. The eczema is still on my neck but it is undercontrol and when I am diligent and apply it several times daily, it will go away. The dark blotches remain, and this is where I got into trouble last week, I began applying the retin-a much too soon and irritated my skin and the redness itch and rash returned. I'm back on the mend using the earth and will wait about one month after healed again before using the retin-a.

I hope this helps.

I use Diatomaceous Earth. FOOD GRADE kind. It is mined from fresh water deposits and does not harm people or animals. Dont breathe in the dust while you are applying it as it is unsafe for your lungs. Once it is applied it is fine.

It is amazing! My daughter and I both drink about 1 Tbs a day with plenty of water, or sprinkled in yogurt. It has helped our digestive systems as we both have issues with constipation and diarrhea depending on the day.

I also made a paste with 1 Tbs DE, 3 Tbs water,1 Tbs olive oil and 1 drop of peppermint oil and used it as a face mask. Rub on gently and let dry for about 5 minutes and wash off. Skin is smooth and soft!

PETS

For my pets I use DE to get rid of fleas. I brush it into their fur making sure it doesn't get in their eyes or face. I also mix a couple teaspoons in their wet food to get rid of worms. I do this every other day. Also, I put it on my rugs and the bedding and leave it there a few days then vacuum up a couple times a month. This has taken care of a severe infestation that has not returned since started.

This is a product that is worth doing a search on the internet about. DO NOT USE POOL GRADE. ONLY FOOD GRADE.

Parasites

Please use food grade Diatomaceous Earth. I have used this substance and this is what happens:

(1) It will give you serious constipation if you don't consume an equal ratio of soluble fiber and drink lots of water with it.

(2) It will definitely scare the worms right out of your gut and into your other organs. Claims of one pooping tons of shredded worms are false. You probably won't see anything pass out of your bowels. It will simply eliminate the sensation of the worms slithering around in your colon because the worms will evacuate to other parts of your body.

(3) It's best to use this in conjunction with a proper diet ...vegan or vegetarian is best...and a diet free of sugar and lard.

(4) This will not cure anyone of parasites but it will manage the condition in your gut (only).

(5) A good holistic approach to managing round worm infection would be to ingest:

-Drink teas containing distilled water and avoid tap water altogether

-Drink original Green Tea daily

- Drink raw garlic tea daily....let a few pieces of raw garlic steep in hot water for about 15 minutes then drink it

-ingest Odorless Aged Garlic tablets daily

-ingest Black Walnut and Wormwood tincture daily

-Eat lots of green leafy raw vegetables (that have been properly washed!)

-ingest Goldenseal tea periodically

-ingest Fenugreek tea periodically

-Eat lots of plain yogurt daily

-DO NOT consume ANYTHING which contains sugar or sugar bi-products...This would include High Fructose items (Worms ADORE sugar and so does cancer)

-Step up your personal hygiene and make sure that you are not reinfecting yourself.... If you infect a housemate, your problem is compounded and they may or may not seek treatment too and your recovery will take that much longer

-Continue to educate yourself about legitimate treatments out there and follow them if you feel it will benefit you

Foremost and above all, please seek help from a physician. If you think your physician is an idiot, seek out the opinion of other physicians... Just don't stop trying to get your health needs met simply because some ass tells you that he or she cannot find anything wrong with you.

Good Luck!

I read that diatomaceous earth would lower high blood pressure. About a month ago I started taking 2 tablespoons of DE in about an ounce of lemon juice (bottled lemon juice most of the time) and some water. My blood pressure had been 160/100 for years; 2 weeks ago my wife (RN) took my BP and it was 122/80 and tonight it was 112/68. Has anyone else tried this?

stomache ulcer

I am so amazed by the fact that , for years i have gone to the doctor for a terrible stmache ulcer that i had. I was diagnosed at the age of 25. I was told that my ulcer was caused by a bacteria, H. pylori. Anyway, i was prescribe on numerous occasions, prevacid and prevpac. The prev pac cause me to get a yeast infection and bacteria vaginoisis that would not go away no matter what. finally, after years of suffering and research, i decided i was going to treat myself. I bought Diatomaceous earth, Clay (Terramin), and powdered wheatgrass. I mixed the diatomaceous earth together, half and half. The wheat grass did not taste so hot so i bought empty capsules and stuffed the wheatgrass in. Every morning before i eat i would drink a tablespoon full of my DE and clay mixture in an 8 ounce glass of water. I also at the same time take 4 of the wheatgrass capsules. I do this every morning and everynight before bed. within 2 week the pain in my stomache was gone. my yeast infection disappeared. the horrible smell caused by the bacteral vaginoisis disaapeared with only a small amount of discharge remaining. Also i suffer from fibroids and i no longer feel them nor the pain that they cause.

I live in San Antonio. You can get diatomaceous earth at feed stores. They carry dewormers as well.

I use diatomaceous earth for many things. You must use FOOD GRADE ONLY. You could make yourself sick using the wrong kind. Go to earth works. They have it. I sell it, or you can go to some horse tack shops that also sell feed, and buy it there. It will worm your animals and you. There are many testimonials out there for this amazing stuff. I use it on dogs, cats, horses, and myself, for many different things.

Hot Flashes, Hamstring Strains

I buy mine at a feed store, 50 lbs for $21.00. It's real name is Diatomite Silica. You can buy it at nurseries and garden centers, too, but for far more expensive. We drink ours.

I don't have hot flashes when I drink it. I took several tablespoons twice daily, and the next day the flashes quit. I vacationed in the Carribbean without air conditioning for two weeks, and the flashes still didn't happen.

I also quit having gluteal hamstring pulls--

I have no idea why they quit the day after I began taking the silica. I'd had them for 5 years previously, as long as I'd been running. However, four months ago I changed my running form from heel strike to forefoot strike, and the hamstring pulls never recurred, even without my taking silica. Strange, but my knees and ankles quit hurting when I changed form, too.

When I quit taking silica, however, my hot flashes returned.

I can't tell what else silica did for me because I am not aware of having any other health problems.

Caution: Food Grade

Do you realize that diatomacious earth is glass? the algae in the ocean make this glass as part of their body. they die and people collect this diatomaceous earth from the bottom of the ocean. it has a cutting action -- just like glass. thus you could cut a hole in the eardrum with this or your intestines. i would not drink this nor put it in the ear.
