It's not working very well for you? Based on your statement about 3-5 drops of 1%, I can see why. You should consider taking AT LEAST 15mg per day, which is 30 drops of 1% strength. The typical recommended dose is 40 to 360mg. I think 360 is a bit high, but 40 is fine. I take 30 to 40mg per day with great results for energy, attitude, skin condition, muscle strength gains, diabetic neuropathy, calmness, sleep quality, blood glucose control, eyesight, circulation and lasting energy during hard work.

Blue,

You don't have malaria. Even a light version would knock you out like a truck hit you and you would be in absolute agony. I have malaria vivax and it was considered a light version. I was misdiagnosed because all the docs in Kenya said I could never live through even a light version. 4 bouts of malaria later they finally tested and found I actually did have it. 10 years and still crippled by it.

I am having a blonde moment with math. I got a high quality 30ml (1 oz) bottle of Methylene Blue with 300mg of MB in it. 1 drop was .5mg so I did that for 2 days with 1000 C. My eyes did turn a bit blue. Most of the calculations are for 2.3% and Ted's 1 gram powder to 1000cc.

So Help Please. It would be so beneficial to know how many mg or mcg makes up 1%, and/or .1%. AND how to get 30ml of 300mg to 1% since it's not a powder.

What's crazy is seeing doses of 15mg (which would make my eyes navy blue ; ) online.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Lynn,

I just finished reading an article by Dr Mercola who interviewed a Methylene Blue (MB) researcher. The researcher said there used to be pills of 60 mg MB that were used for UTIs. He put his mother on a dose of 1mg per kg body weight a day. He generally recommends 0.5mg/kg up to 1mg/kg (pharmaceutical grade as any others have heavy metal contamination) taken with 1000 mg of Vit C in the ascorbic acid form as it reduces the MB to be bioactive.

I just started taking 3drops in about 6oz of water per day, working up to a dose that I can feel better with. My rough calculation is that with 10mg/ml of MB, my weight of 118 in pounds becomes 53.5kg, divided by 2 for the .5mg/kg (or you can multiply by .5, your choice, same answer) becomes a good dose of 26.75mg MB which is then 2.675ml, which then is slightly over 1/2 teaspoon (conversion charts are amazing). It will take a lot of drops to get to that dose! But if a lower dose works, I'm happy.

Hi Lynn,

My neighbor and some of her relatives had trouble with recurring UTIs, and she found a probiotic that is sold on Amazon to stop this in everyone who has tried it. We also had a friend who had the same problem and was very ill, so we gave her several packages that my neighbor had on hand, and she is now completely well, as long as she takes the probiotics. She thinks it is worth the cost to stop getting the UTIs. It might be worth a try.

I am an intermittent catheter user, therefore, I have chronic bladder infections. Ever since I began using Methylene Blue I have stopped getting UTIs. I use Methylene Blue 1% solution. The normal dose is 10 drops in water morning and night. I only need 2 drops morning and night. I use a straw to drink it so my teeth won't turn blue. It has the added benefit of stopping my candida symptoms.

Having said this, I am also very careful about what I eat: no sugar or fruit of any kind. I don't use any artificial sweeteners. I avoid wheat and other grains. I eat canned beans, eggs, fish, chicken, vegetables, and brown rice. I have to avoid nuts.

Allgood, what do you mean by "you must hold your breath while nebulizing--do not inhale the mb--will hurt your lungs." The whole idea of nebulizing is to breathe the atomized liquid into the lungs. So what's the point of nebulizing methylene blue, if you "must hold your breath" and "do not inhale"? I don't understand.

DMSO Represses Inflammatory Cytokine Production from Human Blood Cells and Reduces Autoimmune Arthritis

Abstract

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) is currently used as an alternative treatment for various inflammatory conditions as well as for cancer. Despite its widespread use, there is a paucity of data regarding its safety and efficacy as well as its mechanism of action in human cells. Herein, we demonstrate that DMSO has ex-vivo anti-inflammatory activity using Escherichia coli- (E. coli) and herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1)-stimulated whole human blood. Specifically, we found that between 0.5%-2%, DMSO significantly suppressed the expression of many pro-inflammatory cytokines/chemokines and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). However, a significant reduction in monocyte viability was also observed at 2% DMSO, suggesting a narrow window of efficacy. Anti-inflammatory concentrations of DMSO suppressed E. coli-induced ERK1/2, p38, JNK and Akt phosphorylation, suggesting DMSO acts on these signaling pathways to suppress inflammatory cytokine/chemokine production. Although DMSO induces the differentiation of B16/F10 melanoma cells in vitro, topical administration of DMSO to mice subcutaneously implanted with B16 melanoma cells was ineffective at reducing tumor growth, DMSO was also found to block mouse macrophages from polarizing to either an M1- or an M2-phenotype, which may contribute to its inability to slow tumor growth. Topical administration of DMSO, however, significantly mitigated K/BxN serum-induced arthritis in mice, and this was associated with reduced levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the joints and white blood cell levels in the blood. Thus, while we cannot confirm the efficacy of DMSO as an anti-cancer agent, the use of DMSO in arthritis warrants further investigation to ascertain its therapeutic potential.

Using Methylene Blue is not just a hypothesis.Regarding using methylene blue(MB) against COVID-19 ARDS, there is an Indian doctor, Dr Deepak Golwalkar, who, as a pulmonologist and lung specialist, has been using his nebulized/sublingual MB treatment for quite a while and with great success for his pneumonia patients and for his COVID-19 patients with ARDS. Here is his website, which details his treatment:

https://medium.com/@dr.deepak.golwalkar/treatment-for-covid-19-using-methylene-blue-d23fc5a31a4d

Interestingly, Dr Golwalkar also uses exactly the same concentration of MB for nebulizing -- 0.1% methylene blue -- which is the same concentration that Ted from Bangkok recommends.

The only drug known to inhibit the excessive production of reactive species and cytokines is methylene blue, a low-cost dye with antiseptic properties used effectively to treat malaria, urinary tract infections, septic shock, and methaemoglobinaemia. The relatively poor efficacy of anti-cytokine drugs is explained by the fact that they act on one or a few of the dozens of cytokines involved, and because other mediators of inflammation – reactive oxygen and nitrogen species – are not targeted. When produced in excess, reactive species cause extensive cell and tissue damage.

This is NOT correct, please do not follow this as it is the dilution instructions for getting .1% from a 1% methylene blue solution NOT 2.3%.

To get .1% of a 2.3% solution you add 1 part of the MB to 23 parts of the diluting liquid (distilled water is preferred, it seems). I saw a video where someone added 1ml of MB to 23mL of distilled water. I don't remember how many drops of that solution they said they take, that is what I am looking for here and it hasn't been answered in the first 50 comments =(

Please don't take any grade other than pharmaceutical! Methylene blue can be contaminated with heavy metals or other contaminants if it is prepared without human consumption in mind. If you go to a local compounding pharmacy (in NS the medicine shoppe is one I've had reasonable success with) they can help you out. At the pharmacy, you do not want the ophthalmic solution, as it is not tested safe for consumption either. They may be confused and initially ask you for a prescription from a doctor, but you do not need one. Methylene blue is a bulk chemical, not a drug, and as such you are left on your own in finding the appropriate grade to consume that will not hurt you over time.

Research indicates Vitamin C may inhibit Methylene Blue's killing of Candida

Ted's advice on many areas of health have been of great assistance to me. I became interested in trying Methylene Blue for attacking my systemic Candida, and did some additional research. I came across a study that indicates that taking Vitamin C with MB may decrease the effectiveness of its impact on Candida. The research is found at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4780517/

The relevant quote is halfway through the abstract: "... sensitivity of Candida cells to MB could be rescued upon the supplementation of ascorbic acid, an antioxidant." In the context of the abstract, this "rescue" seemed to be contrary to the intent of killing Candida cells.

Therefore, I began to take MB 1 drop twice a day (along with BHT), but taking ascorbic acid at least two hours later. My reasoning was taking such a small dose had no risk of side effects (coloring eye, etc.), but that any potential impact on Candida would not be lessened by the ascorbic acid.

I understand that Ted is not currently up to responding, but am hopeful that this information may help others, if you or someone may take a look at it and comment on how to take MB and Vitamin C (perhaps 2 hours between the two?).

Hoping this may assist others in recovery from Candidiasis;

Sincerely, Susanna

All the formulas for breaking down Methylene Blue 2.3% caused nightmares of high school math & science, resulting in an Excedrin PM headache lol. I took the info everyone provided and it averaged to be 1 part 2.3% MB : 22 - 23 parts distilled water.

Still afraid to try it, I called a friend of a friend who's a chemist - he said 1 part MB to 23 parts water. (The K--don is 2.3% water solution, zinc free.) I hope this helps!

Methylene Blue Dosages

Reading here and elsewhere all the discussion about MB, could be helpful to put it all in perspective. I ran across also an article (link posted below) that helped with some aspects of the questions. The accepted doses for various conditions cover a range of three orders of magnitude, ~ 50 mg to as little as 50 micrograms. Even if a person determined the dilution necessary for the final dose it might not be the best amount for that person. Genetics, epigenetics and the mediation of microbiomes on any medication does make fools of MDs who are inflexible. How to get a particular dose? I have several droppers from herbal extract 1 oz bottles. One is graduated in 1/4 ml increments.

So, one ml, close 2/3 of that dropper, of the fish tank solution of 2.3% methylene blue is gonna be about 23 mg methylene blue. Just now tried with water and found 8 drops ~ .25 ml. 1 ml water is 1 gram. With MB drops the equivalent could be different because of surface tension and viscosity but that I will try later. Rough estimate at the moment is 1 drop/30 mg of 2.3% MB solution contains ~0.7 mg MB. If you want a dose in that range put n drops into a glass of water.

For fibro...in my mind this is a toxin illness, in that you have toxins you can't get rid of. Someone mentioned wonderful results with pulling teeth (assuming they were amalgams.) Also many people with MCS have ongoing or former fungal exposure (water damaged buildings) which their doctors know nothing about (there is a lot on the web) and some have ongoing fungal infections. I had one friend who got over her MCS (and she also had CIRS, the inflammatory response to the pathogens in water damaged buildlings) after treatment with ampohtericin B for a fungal infection, after she had gotten out of environmental exposure. These "syndrome" things can take a very long time to track down, but take a look at what poisons you might be retaining and how to get rid of them. Many of us have had to live outside for a number of years, to get mold toxins out of our systems. There are now a few doctors who specialize in the people who have the genetic haplotype that cannot get rid of mold toxins. (Illness now called CIRS.)

In reply to Leanne (Ca),

Topical methylene blue is difficult because it stains your skin blue and for that matter, some painted surfaces and stone such as marble so you have to be careful handling methylene blue. If the topical application is for fungus, borax might be worth considering or the borax and diluted hydrogen peroxide which do not stain the skin.

I haven't read the instructions, but I am very familiar with vitamin C. Usually vitamin C means Ascorbic Acid. Sodium ascorbate is also called vitamin C - as are all the ascorbates, but the ascorbic acid has been reacted with in this case Sodium and is fully buffered so a neutral pH. This will react different chemically to straight ascorbic acid. In the instructions did they mention which form to use?

Greetings. I'm on the candida protocols from book. I had to buy 1% MB, rather than the 0.1% called for. I thought I had figured out how to dilute but also confirmed where Bill addressed the problem for another person.

I followed as he states: 1 part by volume of 1% to 9 parts water. I used tablespoons, 1 to 9. Then I thought I understood that would be my jar supply to work out of. I then did 10 drops (protocol amount) from that new mix and added water for drinking. Added 1/4 tsp sodium ascorbate as directed whereupon he says it should go from blue to clear. It did not clear. I'm guessing maybe he expected my powder to be same strength as his powder...or something like that? My powder is 'crystalline' and states 1/4 teaspoon is 1112 mg vitamin C as sodium ascorbate and sodium 137 mg. I guess I thought powders would be one basic same 'strength'. I added another 2 teaspoons once before hoping that would help but it did not.

I could certainly be 'one sandwich short of a picnic' in my reasoning so please help me get un-stumped. I'm very new at this stuff as well as having 50 varieties of foggy, soggy brain. Thank you for sharing your power around the universe.

Maybe I didn't make it clear in my previous writing,

you just put the 100mg MB into a graduated container and add distilled water to fill up to 100cc(mL), the total volume is to be 100cc when completely dissolved (which include MB & water of course).

Diluting Methylene Blue
Posted by J.park (Cerritos, Ca) on 02/19/2017

I'm new to this site, so I just saw your message very late & realized that, as I said above in my writing, there is quite a confusion in % of MB.

You can calculate the percentage stuff using the same formula: % = g/cc -> cc = g/%:

Since you know g=0.1(100mg), %=0.001,

cc = g/% = 0.1/0.001 = 100.

So you'd make 100cc(mL) of 0.1% solution of MB.

Warning: in above formula 'g' must be in grams and % must be in "fraction" as the calculation shows.

Diluting Methylene Blue
Posted by J. Park (Cerritos, Ca) on 02/19/2017

I know it's way late, I guess you already have answer, but I see so many confusions about % of solution, so here it is for those still confused:

% = g/cc, what you have 1.943g/100cc = 0.019 =~ 2% solution.

To make 0.1%, add 19 x water to it.

But better way of using it is use what Bill said:

. just use 1 drop and consider it to be 20 drops of standard 0.1%.

. add 20oz water to it. Now your 20oz is equiv. to 20 drops.

. If you take 1 oz, you just took 1 drop,

take 2 oz, you just took 2 drops, etc...

Good luck.

I also thought I had Lyme disease. It turned out that I had an ongoing toxic mold exposure, that nearly killed me before I found out what it was (and not from a doctor) and got out of my house that had a hidden water leak. Lyme and CIRS (toxic mold illness) have extremely similar symptoms, and common mis-diagnoses are CFS, Fibromyalgia, and any other "syndrome" disease.

Anyone whose doctor says "it must be a virus" yet it never goes away, should go read survivingmold site. Water damaged buildings are common but the vast majority of physicians are not cognizant that 24% of the population has a genetic haplotype that is susceptible to the toxins. So only 1/4 of the people in a water damaged building will be extremely ill, and the other 3/4 either not ill or only with niggling minor illnesses. Well worth a look for the CFS/Fibro people. If I hadn't found out it was mold, I'd be dead.

MB Dilution: To arrive from a 2.3% solution to a 0.1% solution you simply add 23 units (drops, oz, etc) of distilled water for every 1 unit of MB. I used a glass eye dropper container. Add 20 drops of 2.3% MB, then add 460 drops of distilled water.
