Since OP uses food and some food exacerbates certain types of arthritis, I would suggest trying a different oil. Look up which foods are contraindicated for your issue and then stay away from oils in that family.

I started doing the oil pulling last week, missed a couple days over the weekend, then started back this week. Both when I first started and now since I've re-started my lymph nodes are swollen and extremely sore. Is this normal? It seems to me that it's traveling down my body, the first week was the nodes in my neck area, this week it's my arms and underarms. I was just wondering if it's normal...I thought perhaps it's because my body is ridding itself of toxins through the oil pulling. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Paige....I am not a doctor or any other kind of health care professional; however, swollen lymph glands/nodes can be associated with infections and/or disease; since the symptoms you describe seem to disappear after stopping your swishing and then return once OP is reinstated it could be your Detox theory. I too noticed some lymph gland enlargement (even some neck veins) following my first swish or two....I continued swishing while reducing the force I was using and all gland/vein problems seem to have resolved..Good luck.

Hi Paige/ Roseann,
Regarding your swollen lymph nodes, what oil are using using for oil pulling? I think it is the sunflower oil which is causing it. I used to do oil pulling with sesame oil and was perfect but recently i started with sunflower oil and have swollen lymph nodes. I would suggest continue with your oil for sometime and if it does not get better then switch it to some other oil.

You might find it interesting to go to miraclemineralsupplements.org. When you find Jim Humble's site you can download the first half of his book on MMS for free. I liked the first half so much that I have already paid $9.95 to download the 2nd half of the book. I think this guy is onto something here and he claims cures for malaria, cancer, hepatitis AB & C, HIV, and a few others. I have just ordered some of this MMS to check it out myself (if it doesn't kill me then I'll definitely recommend it to family, friends, and of course Earth Clinic. This poor guy has been trying to go through proper channel to get it to the public since he was 61 years old (now 75+) and is using this method to get the knowledge to the public. If this checks out to be as good as he says and as safe, you had better believe that Big Pharm and Big AMA, Big entire Medical Field will start trying to discredit &bad mouth it because, it is going to play hell with "job security" throughout all of the above mentioned. I suspect that Jim Humble is right when he said get you some as soon as you can because he suspects it is going to become scarce as hen's teeth once their job security chain starts clanking.

I was reading about home remedies for a nasty sinus infection from CPAP machine I use for my sleep apnea. I read about the Apple Cider Vinegar and then about oil pulling. I just finished going to the store and getting both. I did the sesame oil and my non-stop nasel dripping ceased before my 15 minutes were up. Coincidence? I'm pretty excited. Also, I couldn't even breath through my nose because it was too painful, and that dissappeared at all. So cool. Thanks! (I have some ACV with tea coming up next. :)

Interesting note about the OP and anemia. Btw, did your doctors test you for preexisting blood conditions that could cause you to not absorb iron normally? E.g. certain diseases like thalassemia can cause anemia. Moreover, if the person with this disease takes iron pills, it can actually result in simultaneous organ damage *and* anemia (iron pills will not work at all in this case). So maybe you should look into whether the cause of your anemia has anything to do with iron. Best of luck!

I have been OP for 1 month,1 tab of sesame oil daily, with great success. My teeth are white and my chronic sore tongue is no longer sore, my gums and teeth are pink not white any longer. My Question concerns a tooth extraction I will be having in 2 days. Is OP a good idea after this extraction or should I wait for it to heal over about a week? Carol

... I've also experimented with the baking sode for cleaning my face which I liked very much. And the oil pulling, that was weird. When I first woke I tried sesame oil for about 3 minutes before spitting it out. Went back to bed and slept very soundly for another 2 hrs then did it again. Got a bad headache and slept for another 2 hrs then did it again with olive oil. Have been headachey and sleepy ever since, and now my ears are popping and my chest feels heavy. Hope this goes away quickly but I guess it means somethings happening.
Safflower Oil

... Then I found your site on Oil Pulling I had never heard of it before and I mistakingly thought it I read safflower oil in stead of sunflower oil. I got the courage up to try it and could do no more than a couple of minutes. Now I doubt if I will ever go to the Doctor ever again! After one try with the Safflower oil my VOICE was better than when i was kid! As if the oil had lubricated all that was rough and scratchy! I am so amazed at the oil pulling, I wonder why no one ever talks about it publicaly as the best thing ever for well being, as one of your writers on this site put it "The virus was made in nature can be healed by nature too!" I am a true Believer and will do these remedy's for life.I could go on and on about the benefits of these homade remedy's that REALLY WORK!

Hi. I've recently started Oil Pulling treatment and although just a few days, my energy level is elevated and my teeth are brighter. I am hoping for result in lowering blood pressure. My question is, would OP help relieve pain from Interstitial Cystitus? A chronic pain problem for the last year. Doctor consultations/meds have not helped. Please post this question on the website. thanks!

started oil pulling 20 dec 07. have used olive, safflower, hemp, sesame, oils. also i have had others try the pull also. so far noticed from safflower are teeth got white, gums felt firmer, sinus's cleared, allergies diminished. from hemp i got sleepy. others that tried olive it immediately raised their mood levels and depression. gout pain eased with only one olive oil pull. i also add a couple of drops of peppermint in the tablespoon to kill the germs and open the sinus's too. sesame did not get any immediate results maybe because it is toasted . all in all everyone i have told that used it have been very happy with the results. only problem is trying to explain to them how it works. so i tell them that it works like oil in an auto engine that catches dirt and when you change the oil the dirt comes out. my nephew that is a plumber in oregon relayed that to me when i was trying to tell him to do the pull he automatically understood how the process could work. in his profession he stated that plumbers work with oil and water all of the time. smart nephew i have.

I had a Sinus infection that started in April 2006, I found out 8 months later is was an infected root canal, which led me on a battle for my health, Traditional Medical and Dental professionsals had me ping ponging back and forth between them, i see now due to their ignorance. had my mouth cleaned up a month ago all metals out, have been detoxing since and feel better and worse at the same time. Started oil Pulling 2 1/2 weeks ago and noticed the Sinus infection has improved and at the same time feels a little worse, can Ted comment on my situation? I feel that the benefits of Oil Pulling can help more than anything, the Biological Dentist had a Homeopathic MD take a saliva test to make sure all metals were out of my mouth before they did a Cavitation surgery on the infected tissue left behind from infected tooth. My question is does it take time for sinus to heal? Any feedback from anyone would be most helpful. Thank You, Toni

I found this site because I was searching for a rememdy for the whiteness on my tounge. I struggled with the idea of OP for about a week and decided to do it. The first time I did it I did it for 20 minutes, but immediatly noticed my tounge was nice and pink again. The second day and beyond(now on my 5th day), i got a cold sore which I get very infrequently, and I also would get weird headaches too, so I hope it is s good sign. It is one of the worst cold sores I have ever had BTW, and I also felt real sick for a little while and sluggish. It almost feels like things are trying to leave my body. I am going to keep it up and see what develops, and will post my results later.

I tried oil pulling for the first time this morning and it had an incredible effect on my thrush. Not only that but my gums have already almost completely stopped bleeding. I've been on medicine after medicine for thrush but each one makes it worse and the doctors were stupmed. 1 session of oil pulling (I only did it for 5 mins to start off) has gotten rid of most of my thrush except the thick parts in the back of my tongue. This is truely amazing.
