Baking Soda and Benzene

I read Dr. Hulda Clark's book, "The Cure For All Diseases." In it she mentions that most brands of baking soda are tainted with benzene. I know you can buy better baking soda in a health food store, but that's not an option where I live. Is it safe to mix ACV with carbonated mineral water instead? The ACV they sell here is pretty acidic, so I need something to buffer it.

...For sodium bicarbonate, I use the regular Arm & Hammer baking soda that you can find in any grocery store. I contacted them also, and they told me that they do not add anything to their baking soda although they do not have any chemical analysis of the soda ash (a mined mineral deposit) from which they make their baking soda by adding carbon dioxide in a solution--i.e., no additives or stabilizers. I hope that this information answers your question. Please let me know if you need more information. Have a great week and keep up the good work. Also thanks for all the help.

I also have been reading Dr. Clark's books. In fact I am in the process of starting the parasite program, kidney and liver cleanses. I was browsing about baking soda because a natural healer told me to bathe in Epsom salt and baking soda for a joint problem (3 cups of salt and 1/2 of baking soda) for 20-30 minutes, once per week. I haven't tried it yet, but I was glad to find some information on your site. Thanks for all the info.

PS: Does anyone else have any input on Dr. Clark's research? Or has anyone actually tried the kidney and liver cleanses? I have high cholesterol and hope this will reduce it.

Hello, Epsom salts is magnesium sulfate, not table salt and baking soda. I always come out an epsom salts bath feeling better & more relaxed. I don't know what table salt and baking soda does!

I've done the Hulda Clark's regime and everything that she says turns out to be true including passing the liver flukes on the 3rd liver cleans - same happened to my daughter!

She was a blessing to the world and a thorn in the side of the conventional medical quakes who want to "cure" us with $$$pharmaceutical drugs (dangerous side effects) and surgery...

Baking Soda and Potassium

Posted by Freakzilla154l (Philadelphia, Pa, Usa) on 08/24/2010

Hello all, I've been drinking baking for over 2 weeks now by itself ( I add a pinch in all water I drink), however I would like to start adding the potassium into it. However, I do not know exactly what potassium is the correct and best to use and where to buy it at? I read a lot about it on here, but there is so much info that I'm confused. So, could someone please enlighten me on which potassium to buy and where I can buy it from? Thank you so much! I'm doing this for ulcerative colitis and I feel like the baking soda works sometimes, but not all the time. I'm having a lot of mucous and gas... Any help is grateful. Thank you all!!!

Baking Soda and the Pancreas

I had a gall bladder attack which affected my pancreas, I wanted to take baking soda to help improve my PH. Will this affect my pancreas? Thanks for help and God Bless.

Hi Dennis... Supplementing Sodium Bicarbonate will not harm the pancreas or the gallbladder. One of the main functions of the human pancreas is to provide pancreatic juices during digestion. These pancreatic juices necessarily contain bicarbonates for a purpose. These juices are important and necessary to neutralize the chyme(food and acid from the stomach) and to create the necessary alkaline medium for proper operation of the pancreatic enzymes for main stage digestion to occur without problems in the duodenum. So supplementing with Sodium Bicarbonate or baking soda is actually beneficial to the pancreas - it restores the important bicarbonate stores in the pancreas necessary for proper digestion -- and will also benefit gall bladder problems.

For gall bladder and gallstone issues Ted also advises adjustments in diet -- no vegetable oils, no dairy, less meat and low sugar intake. Supplement a teaspoon of granulated lecithin(not the oil form) at mealtimes and also taking Ted's citric acid or lemon/lime alkalizing remedy twice a day will also benefit gall bladder problems. I would also advise taking 1000 mgs organic chanca piedra capsules 3 times a day with meals or just take the tea form three times a day. This regimen helps to reduce excess calcium and fat(mainly excess vegetable oils) in the body thereby helping to prevent gall bladder problems and which also helps to remove gallstones as well.

Baking Soda Bath for Sickness

My six year old had a stomach virus this week. He is normally a high energy guy and was down for days. None of our usual "go-to's" for stomach viruses were seemed to knock it out. (Turmeric, charcoal, peppermint, black tea, Apple Cider Vinegar, essential oils.) Perhaps he would have been worse without these things, but I was surprised he was down for so long. I offered him a baking soda bath a couple of times, knowing it helps one of his siblings to feel better for at least a while whenever she is sick. Finally, yesterday, I told him (kindly) that he really needed to try a bath. I made him a comfortably warm bath with a cup of baking soda and 1/4 cup of Epsom salt. (With the diarrhea, I didn't want to give him to much magnesium (Epsom Salt), but thought he probably needed some! ) He played in the bath for 20-30 minutes. He was perkier when he got out. He ate dinner. Today he is back to himself and even wanted to take a little hike with me.

Baking soda or epsom salt baths seem to always give at least temporary relief to acute sicknesses. Sometimes they seem to be what is needed for the patient to turn the corner. I will make a bigger effort to try that earlier in the game next time around!

Use baking soda to clean your stove top. I had bought a new stove, white and was told to keep it new in appearance and clean without scratching to clean with baking soda. Worked wonderfully, just sprinkle on and clean with water and rag. My stove looked new even years later when I sold it.

Baking Soda inhalation for dry cough

This is the most quick relief remedy for dry cough.

Boil a cup of water then take it on the side and keep your face far and add a teaspoon of baking soda, cover your head with a towel and place it over the B.s and water and open largly your mouth and inhale as long as you can. Directly you will cough out phlegms.

Baking Soda Teeth Abrasivity

Posted by Myway (Usa) on 01/31/2016

In an effort to stop the misinformation about the abrasive nature of baking sodan on teeth, I found the research data on the RDA (relative dental Abrasivity) for common dental toothpastes and baking soda. From this chart, it can be assumed that baking soda is greatly LESS abrasive then everyday commercial toothpastes with a rating of "7." Here is the link....

http://c2-preview.prosites.com/131248/wy/docs/131248_rdh sheet.pdf

Some person on this site had stated that baking soda was abrasive to teeth......grrrrrrr. The studies are clear...it has low abrasivity!

Let me go brush my teeth.....with my baking soda, coconut oil, frankincense tooth polish - diy of course!!!!!

Yes I agree about brushing. I make a paste of coconut oil, baking soda and oil of peppermint. It is absolutely the best for body and mind. Very cost effective too. My mouth is so clean. Wish I would have known way back. Unfortunately have lost many teeth that I would give just about anything to have back.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I was recently found to have BASAL CELL CARCINOMA on my nose. The day before Christmas 2015 had a biopsy which showed cancer cells. I treated it 50-50 with baking soda and coconut oil daily, covered with a small plaster.

Each evening, I cleansed it with APPLE CIDER vinegar and applied an antibiotic cream to promote healing.

Febuary 15th 2016 had a piece removed for testing and there was no CANCER there. Unfortunately, the hole left in the side of my nose is now being reconstructed, Hopefully worth the pain to prove it worked.

Hi Barbara,

In the FWIW category, I saw a woman on another site who had diagnosed BCC, had it removed and it reoccurred. A Dr. friend of hers told her to take 250 mg. of Niacinimide every day. She did and it slowly went away. She now takes it everyday to keep any further BCC away, and she says it works. It might be something simple to try. Best wishes.

I have used baking soda many times for scorpion bites, for bee stings, for yellow jackets and red wasps. Apply a paste of baking soda and water. Keep applying to bite until sting is gone, usually immediate. I carry a small plastic bottle of baking soda in all vehicles for bites and stings. Thank God for this wonderful inexpensive multiple use powder! My husband and I take baking soda daily as an additional way to alkalize our bodies.

My daughters were playing outside in the garden and one after the other, they both started screaming, crying and running toward the house. I couldn't understand what had happened but they both had similar red marks on their skin. I assumed they had been bitten by spiders as there was no obvious sting. I quickly applied a thick paste of Baking Soda and water and within minutes both girls were calm and happy. Praise God for Baking Soda!!

Best Time to Take

Bill from San Fernando, can you clarify this. What if I go to bed before 12 PM, when should I take the B/S since Ted's post does not recommend taken before 12 pm. Thanks Bill.

Per Ted's Post

Baking soda is ideally taken before bedtime, but also ideally after lunch one to two hours, and after dinner one hours. It is never to be taken before 12 pm or early morning, although it can be used as a toothpaste substitute for most fluoridated toothpastes. Ted""

Hi Susan... The reason Ted advises that you alkalize after 12 pm is because, during the night, the body's homeostasis works hard to readjust your body's pH to correct and healthy levels again -- and so in the morning your body should be reasonably alkaline anyway. But, after you have eaten breakfast and lunch -- the acid food that you have eaten will have acidified your body to some degree -- since 80% of the food we eat is acid-forming anyway -- so taking the alkalizing remedies after lunch will better assist in keeping the body alkalized and healthy.

Your post was a little unclear so I will assume that you are a night worker(you didn't mention this) and that you go to bed for eight hours in the morning when you get back from your night work. When you go to sleep for 8 hrs in the morning then this is when your body goes into repair mode(which is exactly what occurs if you go to sleep for 8 hours at night) -- this is when your body tries to readjust your pH to healthy levels again. So, in this instance, taking sodium bicabonate and water an hour before your 8 hours sleep(in the morning) actually aids the body in the alkalizing readjustment process.

But if you were talking about going to sleep for just a quick hour's nap -- then no, this is not the same as 8 hours rem sleep that I've described above.

Bill, I am taking baking soda in the empty stomach everyday and its helping me. I have chronic constipation. I take little ACV and Baking Soda with lots of water. You just advised that it is not good to take baking soda before 12pm. Please advice it is ok to take baking soda for constipation in the empty stomach.

Editor's Choice Hi Diana... When I had candida in the past and I first started to alkalize, I always took both Ted's bicarb and water and lemon/ lime bicarb and water remedies about 2 hours after eating -- outside mealtimes in other words. This greatly helped against my candida, constipation and bloating issues. In those days, I usually started to alkalize in late morning.

Later, I understood that taking sodium bicarb and water outside mealtimes was good for alkalizing both the intestines and the body. However now, I take sodium bicarb and water about 1/2 hr to 1 hour after meals -- because taking it this way helps to alkalize the intestines, alkalize the blood AND helps digestion issues because it supports main stage digestion in the upper intestines which should always occur in an alkaline to neutral medium(not acid).

Normally, during sleep at night, the body's homeostsis mechanism comes into play to re-adjust the body's pH(and electrochemistry) back to a healthy levels again. Since 90% of the food we eat now is acidic -- taking sodium bicarb in this way, an hour or so before sleep, actually helps the homeostasis mechanism to re-adjust the body's pH to healthy levels again.

What I have also noticed is that taking sodium bicarb at night also helps people with slow digestion ussues caused by GERD and other problems. Similarly, slow or poor digestion can also be caused by too little bicarbonates from the pancreatic juices -- so taking sodium bicarbonate an hour before you sleep actually helps to make digestion more efficient and helps to avoid acid intestines, reflux etc at night.

To keep it simple -- the only times when I would never take the sodium bicarb and water remedy would be directly before a meal, during a meal and directly after a meal ie while stomach acid digestion is still working and doing its job -- because taking thos remedy incorrectly like this during meals would adversely affect and interfere with both stomach acid digestion and main stage digestion in the duodenum.

Therefore Sodium bicarb is OK to take for constipation. But I've also found that if you add 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt(once a day) to the sodium bicarb and water and take it that way as Ted advises -- then this tend to work much better to help loosen up the constipation than just sodium bicarb and water alone.

I have chronic bladder problems (Interstitial Cystitis) and am always looking for something to make it better. I drank 1/2 tsp of baking soda in some water during the worst possible bladder pain ever. In 15 minutes the pain was gone. I feel that the baking soda made the urine less acidic and that let my bladder be less irritated. Anyway, baking soda did what hundreds of dollars of meds could not do--make me feel better!
