Hi again everyone, I have had gastric reflux for six years for two of those years I lived on salmon and cous cous, that was all I could eat. Recently though my life has turned around, I realised through this website that I had low acid. The ACV worked but not enough to make a huge difference. I have also had accupuncture which I think has helped.
But one day I had indigestion as usual and I tried a clementine, within a few minutes I started to feel better. I started to eat them after main meals which prevented any symptoms from coming on. I would also take them to work and have one if any symptoms came on. Then I tried Betaine Hydrochloride which has made such a difference to what I can eat. You can only use Betaine Hydrochloride if you know for definate that its low acid and you shouldn't try if you think you may have an ulcer. If fruits like oranges or lemon alleviate your symptoms then it might help you.
I hope so. Dee

I took Betaine Hydrochloride which is basically stomach acid ingredients in pill form to add acid back to my stomach (which I was lacking apparently). I had been on Prilosec, Prevacid, etc. for a VERY long time. I was starting to suffer from the side effects; when I stumbled onto this site. I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar at first and it worked great (which told me I lacked acid in my stomach). I hated the taste of it though and wanted something I wouldn't have to force myself to take. So; I read remedy #5 and decided to try it. I went to the health food store and described what I wanted and they went and got it right away. I've been trying it for the past two days now and my stomach has been great!!!! I give a big YEA to the Betaine Hydrochloride.. it works!

After suffering from C-19, I started suffering from heartburn everyday. This went on for months. It got so bad I could barely eat any food and it would affect my sleep. So I started only eating from 12pm to 7pm and I started taking a supplement called HCL betaine pepsin. I got this from Amazon. I took HCL for only three weeks and my heartburn never returned. If you have bad heartburn you may have to take them for life but it's safer than doctors medications that may cause side effects. I also stop drinking lemon and orange juice everyday. I only have them occasionally. I now drink apple juice and teas like hibiscus tea. So far I'm back to normal.

OR - you could try Manuka Honey, which is great for acid reflex and heartburn. Many Naturopaths prescribe it for same.

And since HCL is what you have used with success, wouldn't ACV be cheaper and work just the same?! ; also its easier to find!

If apple cider vinegar cures acid reflux then you do not have enough acid. An acid supplement like Betaine Hydrochloride can work wonders. It did for me. I lived on acid reducers until I figured it out. Quick test take a teaspoon of baking soda on empty stomach. A good belch with normal stomach acid should occur in 2-3 minutes. Mine took 15-16 minutes. Goodbye to Nexium/Prevacid etc.

I just wanted to say that blackstrap molasses helps with acid reflux, about 2 tablespoons and take that either before or after eating, works either way. I think it has to do with potassium that helps with the acid reflux the same as with the banana I believe that's why it works....

This is my first post on Earth Clinic. I just started using BSM this past week for the first time ever. I had never even tasted it before. I'm trying the Organic Unsulphered Wholesome brand. (I wanted to use the Plantation Organic brand because it's packaged in glass instead of plastic, but I couldn't find any. :() So far I'm only using 1 tsp in my coffee once a day. One day I also tried it in tea, and it tastes ok, but I like it better in coffee. Anyway, I only started for the health benefits of getting extra vitamins and minerals, and also as a possible hope of maybe helping my endometriosis. I found it on Earth Clinic while trying to help my mom find a cure for her very large Uterine Fibroid so that she won't have to have a hysterectomy. So I figured, if people say it can help that then maybe it could help me also.

Well, I would have never guessed that it would help my GERD/Acid Reflux! I had no idea it could be used for that. I've mainly heard about ACV. I know it's got to be the BSM that's helping. I have had GERD for the past 2-3 years, and it is flairing really badly right now. I have been in extreme pain and discomfort this last week from reflux (dry cough throughout the day, acid belly--which I normally only get during my cycle, burping up food and acid 1-2 hrs after I eat, congestion in the morning). Somehow these symptoms have become considerably less since starting the BSM, and it hasn't even been a full 7 days. Amazing.

Last night I even ate tacos and didn't have any reflux issues. That's a huge breakthrough. I will try using up to the recommended 1 TBSP on the bottle to see if that cures it completely.

I had acid reflux bad for the past two years. Oneday my aunt went to a health food store. Her and a lady got to talking about blackstrap. The lady had tried everything for her acid reflux so the doctor finally told her about blackstrap molasses. My aunt brought some for me and within days the acid reflux started to go down. Now I have been taking it for4 months now. It is just about cured! It is the best thing for acid reflux. I took two teapsoons of it everyday in april and now I take less because it doesnt bother me. One or two teaspoons will help get you through the whole day.

I was suffering from a very, very bad sore throat. I was told to suck on ice in order to keep my throat muscles and glands from swelling, making it hard to breathe. Someone suggested I take ibuprofen (Advil (100 mg of Ibuprofen) to prevent my glands from swelling, I did. I took two every 6 hours, for a day and developed that "acidity/belching/sour, bitter" taste...it is horrible. I firmly believe that ibuprofen brought it on. My Mom had the same problem. Our remedy is, RED POTATO and ONE CUP MILK. Chop up RED potato, throw in blender, add cup of milk, blend until liquefied. Strain the mix and drink. Two times a day, for about 5 to 6 days will do the trick. NO DRUGS NECESSARY!

I have a great respect for Ted and his opinions that he posts. After all they influenced what I took while having stage 4 lung cancer and now I am free of it. On the subject of progesterone, I don't think he had the opportunity to review the latest research on the use of progesterone on cancer. Researchers have found that there are 2 genes that are affected by progesterone. One is the BCL2 gene and the other is the P53 gene. Research has shown that natural progesterone affects one of these genes and synthetic progesterone affects the other and shows that there is a difference between the two. The BCL2 gene helps the cancer and the P53 gene shuts down the cancer. Here is an article that covers this; Https://progesterone.com/disease-index/cancer/breast-cancer/ I have also read elsewhere that vitamin D3 works with the natural progesterone to make it more effective. After reading the above article, the question comes to my mind, what creams have the natural progesterone that will promote the P53 gene. There are lots of these creams out there. All that you have to do is go to amazon.com and do a search for progesterone cream and you will see lots of them and they all say they have natural progesterone in them but which ones actually works? I have a friend that is afflicted with breast-cancer and I would like to know what will work for here. If anyone knows out there please let me know. I believe that a good strategy to make the breast-cancer go away would include progesterone cream. I would be grateful to anyone for a replay. Thank you

Apparently, all the “natural” yam creams in the US have some sort of synthetic progesterone in them. (This isn't my area of expertise so please be kind if I am not explaining that quite correctly.) It seems that Anna's Wild Cream (from Australia) is the only one you're currently (2023) going to find that's legit pure and natural. Also, I guess the word has gotten out about this product because they've recently seen their orders skyrocket to the point that they won't have new inventory until the end of August. This is frustrating, but presumably they'll get it all figured out soon. Good luck to you all!

I use Now progesertone cream to balance my hormones and I can see a difference and my hormone blood levels normalized so I believe this product works. I have it on subscription so I am never without it!

Hi, I've found a good amount of (acid) relief by drinking a raw potato in the morning. I peel one raw potato (although people recommend to ingest the peel), dice it, put it in the blender with some water, strain it and drink it. Best way to drink it is by covering your nose and drinking it fast without tasting. It relieves reflux with its base-like qualities.

I found that adding 3 heaping tablespoons of Quaker Unprocessed Bran to yogurt in the morning or at night produces great regularity. The regularity relieved my acid reflux. I also an prescribed and take Prilosec 40mg daily at night. However, If I don't stick with the daily unprocessed bran, the reflux returns as well as anxiety. I try to remember to take an enema once a month just for extra cleansing but believe me if you make a habit of taking the unprocessed bran you will feel it literally scraping your insides as you eliminate and it improves your cholesterol profile while helping with reflux as well.

Broccoli Sprouts

I was researching Acid Reflux and discovered much concerning H-Plyori. The most effective way to eliminate the cause of the weak spot, which is H-Plyori bacteria, is the nutrient from Brocolli Sprouts commonly called Sulphoraphannne. Look of John Hopkins and search the research of Paul Talalay. He tried to patent brocolli sprouts and make a profit on every one sold in the U.S.A. What a moral creep. But he does good research.

I was having stomach pain for 3 months now. At times it would feel like I had a knot under my breast bone. The pain would go from mild to severe and there was one time I almost went to ER. I was treated with previcid for the attacks. After reading on this site, I began to eat raw cabbage leaves on July 5. Just tried to eat 4-5 leaves throughout the day. the first day or 2 I noticed some relief. I did notice more heartburn for the first few days - but I felt that something was improving pain wise. by day 5 I noticed a significant difference. Here I am 10 days later and I have not had pain for over a week. I am amazed. I started adding cabbage to all my sandwiches and salads. In addition my constipation has drastically improved. Cheap and works!! I am sold!! Thanks and good luck

I suffer from severe acid reflux, and I was starting to cough much at night and at times during the day. I read on your very useful web site, about some one suffering from severe coughing [her name jill A. posted on 5/2/2006]. Well what I think got me almost rid of the coughing was this remedy i got from a book: fresh purple cabbage juice [10-13fl. oz [300-400ml] --sip it daily on an empty stomach [you can toss it in the blender with 10-13 oz. of water to get the juice out]. The book said to add also a hand full of fresh basil, marjoram, and/or oregano, which I did. I also used the jelly of aloe vera leaves, before every meal and before going to bed [chew on a small portion or blended as a shake and drink it].

Now the other thing I was going to talk about was the metallic chemical taste in the mouth that Robin from Apalachicola--or something like that--Fl. [posted on 2/11/2006], felt once she took a PPI drug [nexium--i believe]. I also have felt that taste before after having tried one of those ppi's poisonous drugs. I think it may be caused by an allergic reaction. I did not get the black tongue she mentioned though. But those drugs i believe to be dangerous since my severe reflux was caused by nexium itself, believe or not, but that story I cannot get into yet.

I found that taking a few calcium tablets helps immediately with severe reflux, and I take acidophilus complex, and aloe vera to maintain overall digestive balance
