The arrhythmia I noticed first showed up around age 62. About the same time I started using a SCENAR unit, DENAS cardio-3 wrist blood pressure unit twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. After about 6 months of daily use, the arrhythmia is very rarely seen.

Magnesium
Posted by Don (Michigan) on 11/17/2018

I did an extensive search for any maker of any form of Magnesium mfg in 368 mg or 92 mg. Most all are in even numbers ie, 400 mg.

RDA is 400mg - 500mg according to where you look. Although dietary sources can be way over that.

Use your own judgement and experience.

YEA - I am 67 & have experienced arrhythmias off & on for years - am aware I am very sensitive to MSG & food additives. For the past month arrhythmias have been intense, especially when I lay down. I decided to make my own Cayenne capsules & take with 1/2 glass milk, however, this caused tummy disturbance & cramping. Decided to stir 1/4 teaspoon cayenne into 1/2 glass milk, followed by 1 glass water. I've been taking this 2x daily with food for 1 week now - also take Magnesium tablet daily & Black Strap Molasses if required. The past few days have experienced very few arrhythmias which have been much less intensity. I am so grateful for this information: it is so wonderful to not feel my heart thumping & skipping beats! - Yeah

I just started with irregular heart beats (last 3 weeks), pounding, then skipping. I am 69 yrs old. It starts and I feel faint, short of breath, weak, overall just bad. At my worst, I was on my way to the emergency room, but couldn't find the hospital, so went on to the health food store and bought magnesium with potassium aspartate, took 3 and felt better in about 10 minutes. I am now taking 3 (300mg) 3x/day with meals and I feel like my old self! Until I found this website I didn't know about the other things I could try, but will give it a go to improve my heart health. I too cut down on my evening wine (now 1x/wk) and have decaf 1 cup in the morning. It has made such a difference I can't tell you!

Magnesium and Omega 3s:

I have had continuous arrhythmias for over a year. I tried everything including pharmaceuticals and alternative methods. I decided to try Omega 3s, 1280 of DHA, plus magnesium glycinate 400 mg. Both of these I take daily in divided doses. It has been 6 weeks without a recurrence and I am amazed! There is nothing else I did differently so have to assume it is these 2 supplements. What a relief it has been! I hope someone else can be helped by this simple combination, too.

Thanks Keith, I have now found out that ACV stands for apple cider vinegar! I have just gone out and bought some organic blackstrap molasses and cayenne. I already had apple cider vinegar in the house, and also I have a spray magnesium which you either rub into your skin or spray in the mouth. You didn't mention how much cayenne to use, so I tried a small amount, and it nearly blew my head off! I will use just a pinch next time. I will be thrilled if I have the same results as you with the heart stuff.

I've had Arrythmia on and off for years but the worst bout has been for the last two weeks - I've felt weak, had trouble sleeping and when I did the nightsweats were dreadful. I tried the usual ACV/Bicarbonate of Soda and all the other remedies suggested here and this time nothing helped. So more because I was too exhausted to cook than anything else - I bought Bran Flakes for something easy to eat and would you believe within minutes I am completely back to normal. After investigating online to see what could have made Bran Flakes work when nothing else would - the only thing I can conclude is it's the Magnesium content. And although I'd already tried Magnesium supplements without success - whatever it is about Magnesium in Bran Flakes - it worked almost immediately.

Hope this helps others.

For people who have a irregular heartbeat, be sure and get 400 mg. Magnesium Oxide a day. I go to Walgreens and ask the Pharmacist for it. And if you get an irregular heartbeat and it won't settle down, take 500 to 1,000 mg.oOf Taurine. I went several times to the E. R. and had taken Taurine and by the time I was hooked up, I had a heartbeat of a "seasoned athlete! " It really works!

Hi ORH –

I imagine you have heard about the Zeta Potential. Based on the research of a chemist, Thomas M. Riddick, Dr. T.C. McDaniel applied the concepts to cardiovascular disease (he was his own guinea pig). He wrote a book called “Disease Reprieve – Living into the Golden Years” (1999). He died at the age of 102 – so something must have worked!

https://zetaaid.com/pages/about-dr-tc-mcdaniel

According to Dr. McDaniel, “Once plasma electrolytes are balanced, blood pressure will come down, circulation will improve, and arrhythmias will disappear.” He talks about the importance of the “electric force” in health.

Zeta Aid is the result of his findings. While he would use IVs when he was working with patients, the potassium/electrolyte combination is now available in powder form.

Zeta Aid Crystal ingredients: A proprietary blend of food grade Potassium compounds. Dr. T.C. McDaniel's primary areas of treatment: blood clots, high blood pressure, circulatory disorders, arrhythmia, kidney stones, peripheral vascular diseases, chronic fatigue, Crohn's Disease.

I have no idea if it works (I can be quite gullible at times) but it is relatively cheap ($20 for a three-week supply). It might be something to check out.

Here is another site on Zeta Potential (the bit about Dr. McDaniel is under the section “Disease Reprieve”) although the whole article is quite interesting.

https://biomedx.com/edu/the-story-of-zeta-potential-3/

If you want more medical detail, Thomas Riddick wrote “Control of Colloid Stability through Zeta Potential” in 1968. There is some of his information on this old site:

Take care.

I just read in Dr Caroline Dean's book The Magnesium Miracle, p. 245, that magnesium taurate is the recommended form of magnesium for people with heart problems ...it appears that the amino acid taurine may prevent arrythmias.

Taurine, an amino acid, does the trick all by itself! Take 1 tspn of Taurine powder mixed in water, perhaps only 1/4 Cup. It has virtually no taste. If you have an arrhythmia attack take it and w/in very few minutes, perhaps as long as 15, but usually less, it's completely gone.

I do take CoQ10 daily and Organic or Wildcrafted Hawthorn berry powder 2x a day. I take the Taurine morning and nite and any other time I might need it. I thought I had this totally under control and hadn't had arrhythmia in months, then I seem to go thru a month or so of several much reduced episodes. The taurine always fixes this. My sister had horrible attacks and this combo of Hawthorn and Taurine morning and nite has worked perfectly for her too, with the occasional additional episodes.. She then takes the same 1 tspn in water and it's over and done in a few minutes. I get my taurine in bulk on line. I get my Organic Hawthorne berry powder in bulk on line too. It's way cheaper than pills. Neither one has much flavor at all, so no problem drinking them. I'm happy to share the sources, but I guess I can't just write them here.

for some years i have been sending in reports of my experience with arrhythmia. i have been hospitalized three times been given coumiden and told i need to stay on it for life as well as some other drugs for rapid heart beat. i have searched and searched and they do not make things easy for those searching for answers.

thank goodness for the internet. i have tried with some improvement juicing, fasting, diet, exercise, sea salt, and more but really got to the bottom of it when i discovered most things are digestive related. i found out i had symptoms of candida. i once had a white tongue, itchy anus constantly, sinus congestion, massive amounts of mucous after eating, and other seemily unrelated symptoms. it was then with all the stomach mucous i discovered was undigested protein and that was a result of lack of stomach acid and poor protein digestion. i put this all together and realized candida was in my stomach and my colon as well as the sinuses.

i started treating that and soon found my digestive problems were also my heart problems. when i first started taking hcl stomach acid there was massive die off of candida in my stomach and my intestines. finally i started to feel something with the die off. as unpleasant as it was, it was progress things that did not belong were dying. i also started taking systemic enzymes, and digestive enzymes and my digestion improved 100% as well as my a fib.

my theory is my colon was so full of toxic waste from undigested food it was poisoning my body and the heart was beating fast and out of rhythm in response to that poisoning. clean the liver and clean the blood with enzymes and juicing and many of the things bothering you will disappear. not right away but in time. try hcl and if one pill does not seem to give you any response of being too acid try two and up until you find the right amount. i gave one to a friend and he could not take one without feeling a burn. i take four and feel nothing. i had almost no stomach acid. if your stomach is not acid then your blood will be and that's a disease waiting to happen. you need the stomach acid strong and the blood to be alkaline for good health. i had just the opposite.

so here is what i did and i think i may have found the cure. i have taken no drugs for two years and am not dead yet. in fact i get healthier every day at age 66. rebounder, weights and running

hcl- three or four with each meal

digestive enzymes -three with each meal

juicing- carrot, apple beet celery cucumber every single day

I did the drinking the water with the drops of hydrogen peroxide, but I'm going to try the inhalation. I pray God will protect this site, please do the same!!

I also have learned that along with avoiding soy (not sure if it is an allergy or what). . . If I have an arrhythmia flare up, I can paint a bit of iodine on my wrist and it will be better in just 5 minutes! I am not quite sure of the reasoning for this unless it is thyroid related (although all my tests came back "normal"). Whatever the reason, it works for me!

Hi Alissa. I have experienced PVC's for over 30 years. I take Hawthorne, magnesium (800 mg per day) and 6 drops of 5% Lugols iodine per day. That seems to keep things at bay most days. But, when it flares up, as it did this morning, 2 capsules of a product called "Cool Cayenne" will usually knock it out in about an hour. Many at Earth Clinic use cayenne in warm water, sometimes with honey, and get the same result. However, I am a total wimp regarding the heat of cayenne, and the Cool Cayenne doesn't cause me any distress. Hope this helps.

Arrhythmia heart troubles: What I find that works for me is to take black salve twice a day to thin my blood. Then take magnesium oxide twice a day. I also walk 3 miles a day. I also snowshoe 3 miles a week in the winter or hike 5 miles a week in the summer in the mountains.@ 12 hour before I go out hiking I take two tablespoons of sweet sorghum to control the arrhythmia. This type of a routine keeps enough oxygen in my blood to keep me going and not feeling tired.

arrythmia: I had a heart attack when I was 52; I am 63 now. I have kept my diet to a minimum of saturated fats although I believe in using butter and olive oil instead of margarine. I take supplements that included: fish oil, spirulina, flaxseed oil, garlic, glucosamine, msm, chondroitin, co-q 10,men's mega multiple, green source multiple, and a few others now for the past 11 years. In mid November 08, I started heart palputations that have been coming on more frequently. Some of my blood work over the years have indicated low potassium and I have been suspecting now that it is causing the arrythmia. Lately now I have been taking an occasional spoonful of sorghum or molasses, which has seemed to help. Last night (2/8/09) as I tried to sleep I had the arrythmia fairly heavily. Deep breathing did not help me. Finally I got up at midnight and took a .025 mg. xanax and a tablespoon of dark sorghum to wash it down. Within 1/2 hour the arrthymia went away and I got a good night's sleep.

EC: "Sweet sorghum is any of the many varieties of sorghum which have a high sugar content. Sweet sorghum will thrive under drier and warmer conditions than many other crops and is grown primarily for forage, silage, and sugar production."

"Sweet sorghum syrup is called "molasses" or "sorghum molasses" in some regions of the U.S., but the term molasses more properly refers to a different sweet syrup, made as a byproduct of the sugarcane or sugar beet production."

I'm going to purchase some molasses shortly so I can have the potassium ready when I am out of bananas and/or veggie juice. For a few days I had been having A-Fib symptoms and then earlier today I ended having a serve A-Fib attack. It was bad enough that I thought I was going to end up in the hospital again. But then, I got to thinking about the chips I ate yesterday and the fact that I hadn't been eating my daily banana or two for about a week. So, I opened a bottle of veggie juice and downed 12 ounces. After about 15 minutes I poured another glass of juice and started eating a banana. Within 25 minutes of drinking the first glass of veggie juice I could feel my heart go into a more regular rhythm. RELIEF! I finished off the second glass of juice and banana and drank a third glass of veggie juice over the course of about two hours. I ended up ingesting between 1800 to 2000 mgs of potassium. I feel great now.

Is that 50mg of magnesium daily? I take 500, and my husband 1,000mg. For the heart. Cayenne is chillies and even eating curry every day is not enough, try taking a capsule or two with your foods. Vitamin E for the heart, I like to get this is red palm oil, it also contains COQ10, lycopene. These are my suggestions but I emphatically recommend you increase a good quality magnesium. Your routine and food habits are really great otherwise and I wish you continued good health.

Great post, though few years old, however I am reading it right now.

"with heart arrhythmia there is no single cause, so it makes sense, to approach the 'problem' from more than one angle." Pharmacogenetics is a new field of study that explains why the same medicine, vaccine, supplements work differently for different people- we are genetically different. Even in the same family. My sister can take anything, I get paradoxic effects, side effects or no effects from the same medicine, supplements etc. So try and see if it works FOR YOU.

Unfortunately the allopathic medicine offers nothing. Bigeminal tachycardia is a medical emergency if it is more than 6 b/m. I was in a hospital many times with 36 b/m, non-stop, and they were just observing me while I was suffering tremendously begging for the hydrating IV or Ringer's solution to no avail. I still don't know what triggers the arrhythmia episodes that sometime last for days. Mini-strokes are common with arrhythmias, and as it has turned out I did have few, based on the brain MRI, however nobody was telling me that. My thyroid markers are normal

I've tried pretty much everything that did help other people. I've tried grounding, Vagus Nerve stimulation with Tens 7000, sleeping on the Amethyst mat, Red light therapy on the heart area and many other modalities. Acupuncture does help, but when I am having an episode, I am floored and can't go for a session. My acupuncturist does make house calls and she is good, however expensive. Chinese herbs help, but make my other problem worse (sensation of motion, sort of like MDDS). In fact what helps with arrhythmia makes my "sensation" of motion unbearable.

Today I've learned here on EC about new homeopathic medicine for panic attacks and bran for arrhythmia. Will try.

Secondly, heart arrhythmia and palpitations are similar but not the same. I do take Atenolol daily for more than 10 years for I have POTS. It is the safest cardio-selective beta-blocker. It helps with tachycardia, but not arrhythmia. Cayenne pepper is not for arrhythmia, however it helps with the vascular system function.

Hello Selena (Rocky Gap) --- I read your post with pleasure because you made such excellent choices. For many years I have kept a booklet by Cyril Scott as well as a booklet on ACV by Paul Bragg. Off and on I read these booklets again, marvelling at the simple and excellent remedies they are.

For example, as arthritis is a mineral deficiency disease, it is ideal to take BSM and it indeed relieved me of pain and arthritis for many years. I still take BSM and as long as I do, no more joint pain. I think it was suggested in the booklet on BSM to include ACV as well especially for cysts and cancer. It had great success since BSM dries tumours so an invasive treatment is not needed in the end. But there were more benefits, for the brain etc.

Just to mention that it was delightful also to see you include Dr. Sircus' transdermal magnesium treatment.

Well, I treasure these two booklets and wish you all the best.

Greetings Oldchief-

At the age of 40 (I'm now 60) I had several relatives pass away in rapid succession. The stress of the situation caused a spike in my blood pressure for which my family physician prescribed atenolol. I'm a big guy (6'6", 230 lbs) so a minimal dose didn't seem like a big deal. Long story short, it reduced my pulse so much that I experienced my first episode of atrial fibrillation. People react differently to meds so I'm wondering what your pulse rate might be?

Thanks! I have used "Calm" by "Natural Vitality" but it is just Magnesium. Maybe I should try tis one by Biologics? I also think spraying my body with Mg oil has helped me probably because I absorb it better than through all the supplements I have tried! And I was told to look into Dr.Carolyn Dean and she also recommends Mg with taurine in it (Magnesium taurate) so I had read about Taurine somewhere and have been taking that 1000mg a day.Just went off the "flecanide" as I couldn't stand the way I felt on it anymore! And it didn't keep the afib away any longer than it was when I only took 1 tablet(50mg) so I'm not taking 2 anymore and plan to get off the 1 if I get better results with these supplements! I can always take the "flec" if I get the episode to get me back to NSR.I did do that before but docs convinced me that if I took everyday, I wouldn't get it as often! Well, that didn't pan out now did it! So let's hope I can keep it at bay wuth supplemants on my own.I do take low dose betablocker at night for whatever it's worth! Don't know if it helps or not!

Keep posting your results! Thks!

I noticed some correlation with alcohol, too. If it is true, that means that heart palpitations relate more than anything to digestion, your gut bacteria (or any yeasts you might have) and how this affects your liver, which in turn affects you blood composition, and only then, as the result of all the above - you get palpitations. So perhaps curing digestion first will cure everything else.

Anyone has specific knowledge on this subject to share, such as the diet and other related things you could post here?

On another subject, it is hard for me to take magnesium - it irritates my stomach. Even the magnesium oil applied to skin has strange unpleasant effects on my body (even though my skin is not irritated much at all.)

I mix a tablespoon of it and a cap full of lemon juice in my water and drink it daily, but if you don't like tart stuff then use a teaspoon of each in a 8 oz glass. I buy the Acv with the mother in it, it is better, I also care for my husband's grandad and he has a time with a sore throat due to he had acid reflux iin the past and it damaged his throat so I fix him a 2 teaspoons of vinegar 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and some honey in a coffee cup with water and heat it as a tea. It soothes his coughing and stops his throat from hurting.

I thank you for the info. about things that have worked for all of you regarding arrhythmia problems. I've recently started getting them badly at night - guess when my body is depleted and tired. CALM w/Calcium powder (put in hot water) seems to help me a lot. The regular CALM doesn't do it for me (???) Anyway, thanks to your post, I have ordered a high rated type of Cal/Mag/Zinc by best naturals. I did not want to get the D3 included, because I've noticed if I take that too late in day, it can make me hyper (making arrhythmias worse at bedtimes - esp. a high dosage) So I take a 400 mg D3 in the mornings. That seems to work for me. I am 59 years old, and I have dealt with this problem since age 29, originally brought on by stress and hereditary. But these recent night time bad arrhythmias have been keeping me from going to sleep...until I get up and take the CALM plus Calcium. I also take 1/5 mg of Clonzepam- prescribed by the Dr. for anti-anxiety. These usually work if I'm under a stressful event, but don't seem to work as well late at night. To sum it up, I think it's a depletion of minerals at night, as well as tiredness. One more thing that might help a few is Motherwort tincture. It can ease palpitations. Oh, I am also going with the ACV (apple cider vinegar- with mother) and will try the 2 TBL of Molasses a day. Can't hurt. Don't forget to add water to the ACV!! THANKS! Love to hear others overcoming this!!

1) Magnesium Taurate supplementation helps irregular heart beats. Mg takes 6 to 12 months to build up in the system, so, patience. It also needs daily replacement as we use Mg in all our daily life activites.

2) use of Transdermal Mg ( Mg Oil Spray ) on top of taking the pills will speed up the build up process.

3) Epsom salt bath or foot soaks (Magnesium Sulfate) is cheaper and would also help. Eat Magnesium rich foods in addition, but know that Mg in food will not be enough. Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and greens are rich in Mg.

These forms of Magnesium will have favorable reviews on Amazon by people who have used it. Use of Magnesium supplements promotes sound sleep, relief of nervous tension, anxiety and "hundreds" of health issues. Do Search on Magnesium Deficiency.

Bran Flakes

Bhop, when I eat bran flakes I experience increase energy and other good effects but attribute nothing to vit/min content. Thanks for your post as this hypothesis may have some credibility. "Bran Flakes" is usually a mixture of oat, wheat, or other grain cereals that are relatively high in hemi cellulose and some cellulose fibers. These woody fibers travel down the intestines where they are not completely digested because of their woody structure. Somehow, as a bi-product of this incomplete digestive process, a medium chain fatty acid called Butyric Acid or Butyrate is formed. The number one fuel source for the colon is, guess what? Butyric Acid. So, eating foods that contain these woody fibers simply supercharges the colon. Two common foods that contain pre-formed Butyric Acid are eggs and butter. That little bit of rotten smell associated w/ these foods is the actual B.A. Commercial grade B.A. has historically been used as "stink bombs" for such radical activities as bombing anti-abortion clinics.

Anyway, two slices of whole grain wheat bread toasted and smeared w/ real cream butter gives a good boost for the colon. If correct, you should also experience better bowel movements; and somehow the health of the colon effects the heart, according to this hypothesis.

I suffered from arrhythmia for years until recently. Now that I know what I know, it doesn't surprise me that high fiber has helped others. The only thing that helped me was changing to a diet rich in plant fiber (from fresh vegetables and beans -- very little bread) with much less meat, minimal dairy, low salt and no white sugar or processed foods. I now eat huge salads, piles of beans, lots of fruit and nuts and seeds every day. When I get a craving for something sweet and satisfying, I throw some nuts, fruit and water into the blender and make a huge "milkshake", as my 5-year-old son calls it.

Aside from the arrhythmia vanishing, I am losing weight, my blood pressure is way down, my blood sugar has dropped, my dandruff and acne have cleared, my constipation has resolved and my hemorrhoids have all but disappeared. Consider reading Eat to Live. It changed my life.

I developed an arrhythmia in 1996 two years after a car accident where my stationary car was struck by a drunk driving a 15 passenger van at high speed. In the accident I sufferred some damage to my neck, back, struck my head etc. I have since learned that damage to the vegus nerve can cause cardiac arrhythmia as well as numerous other problems. The doctor assigned by my insurance plan put me on a regimen of 600mg of ibuprofen every six hours for pain, not only in my back and neck, but also for an arthritic knee. Which had been operated on previously. I have learned since, that Ibuprofen and other "nsaids", in high dose (over 400mg/day), can damage the myelin sheath which is the equivalent of electrical insulation on our nerves. I have read that this can cause nerve impulses to leak and activate muscles along the path of the nerve which can result in twitches, spasms, or arrhythmia. Long term use even at lower dosages can also have the same affect.

If a person already has arrhythmia, then I imagine use of these types of drugs may make the problem worse. I also learned that most nsaids cause red blood cells to clump together unnaturally, Which leads to stroke. Especially if one already has an arrhythmia. The first course of action we need to take is to find a physician who wants to cure us instead of treat us with the pharmaceutical industry crap for the rest of our lives which in most cases causes a host of other problems requiring more wonder drugs.

Thanks to my naivete in trusting my doctors I have become disabled, suffered two strokes, developed constant diarrhea, dizziness, temporarily lost the ability to swallow, and temporarily went blind in my right eye. On top of this I developed M.R.S.A. while in the hospital. Western Medicine SUCKS! The criminals at the A.M.A. , F.D.A., the drug conglomerates, Insurance companies, Politicians with price tags around their necks, and the so called JUDICIAL SYSTEM that covers and protects their miserable asses all need to be completely destroyed and rebuilt, with the best interest of humanity as the goal instead of the bank accounts of the scumbags in power.

I had irregular heart beats, one cardiologist said it was PVC. Sometimes, my heart would beat so hard my body would shake was making me so uncomfortable and scared. The cardiologist said I could ignore it or take medication. I don't function that way so I looked deeper for the cause. Read about possible dental issues causing heart issues,

We hired a dentist that does dental cavitation surgery to open up every extraction site in my mouth. A study showed that 80% percent of these sites have toxins, in them . I also had my root canal extracted, due to my fears that they could be causing this issue. This is personal choice because I wanted to be well The cavitation dentist located a huge infection wisdom tooth extraction site he found gauze left behind from years back, and jaw bone infection, this infection did not show up on the MRI or digital x-rays, low level sepsis! I went on heavy duty antibiotics, after the surgery. Pounding heart, PVC , irregular heart beat whatever you want to call it was gone NO more Heart Problems

Reply to Roy, South Africa, Sept 27 2020 re: heart arrhythmia

My situation is different from yours, but I have used this treatment for myself and others. I had heart pains 10 times per minute after contracting H1N1. I was in intensive care and the doctors told me they were more worried about me having a heart attack than me having to be on a ventilator. I used Strauss Heartdrops (made in Canada) 4 times per hour and by the end of the first day, my heart pains had decreased to a few times per day. I used the drops for a few months (but only 4 times per day), and now I have a bottle that I just use a couple of times per month. It is a natural product from an old European recipe and I swear by it.

My boss had a bad system from years of medication for gout. He was showing signs of heart attack (pain in the left shoulder, paleness, sweating, anxiety) and the doctor told him he probably pulled a muscle. (!! ) I got him some Strauss and stood there while he took it. It really doesn't taste good and a lot of people give up after one dose. I told him to hold it under his tongue for three minutes and then swallow. He came to me a few hours later and told me he had taken another dose and he was starting to feel better. His wife is very grateful to me.

If the taste is beyond horrible for you, put the dose in some juice. I feel that holding it under the tongue is the best way to get the most from this product.

By the way, I was also taking organic sulphur crystals when I had H1N1. I attribute the sulphur to my very fast recovery and I feel it helped with my heart issues too.

Best of luck to you, Roy. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for your comments. I have also had trouble after eating oatmeal. Many other foods seem to cause V tach, skipping and extra beats too, but usually when trying to sleep. I think sweets and flour products, fried food, beef, gas causing foods, beans, red sauces, tomatos, milk, cake, etc, all contribute. Coffee drives it crazy (Chickory is my substitute- limited amounts). No colas anymore for me. Episodes begin just as I am fading into sleep and last off and on all night. Can't hardly sleep. Gets much worse in early A. M. When heart slows, skips, bangs, wakes me. I was prescribed Toprol, maybe helped some, but won't continue on it for long. Have felt terrible for a year or more, no energy and have battled GERD for years, progressively worse. I think the GERD causes the V tach, maybe the V tach caused the GERD, though. Doctors don't care, just want to treat one, not the other and prescribe only chemicals. I was ordered to stop all supplements by the cardio Dr. I think diet and magnesium and other things on here will help. Right now I will try to eat a lot from about 8am to 2pm, then maybe almost complete fast till bedtime so I can sleep. On of my best nights was after I fasted all day, but I have to eat. I think we need more info / research on the connection between digestive system -GERD- and arrythmia. BTW, ACV helps with GERD.

Elwyn, I was taking a beta blocker (Toprol) for my arrythmia, and wanted to stop taking it. I just gradually tapered it off myself, using a pill cutter (you can get one at pharmacy). My cardiologist wasn't pleased, but I am off of it and doing ok for over 6 months now. I did ask them afterwards to give me a Halter test, and all was ok. I think they would have kept me on it forever. You might want to figure out what lifestyle changes you should make to avoid the arrythmia; I learned a lot on this site about possible causes. Good luck, Anne

Thank you for your advice and for this wonderful site. I backed myself off of Cartia a calcium channel blocker in an extended capsule form~not an easy nor comfortable task. Also refused 2 thallium scans back to back~really don't need the large a dose of radiation! I started using the cayenne pepper and am feeling much better. I have refused coumiden, lasix and another beta blocker. I also take Calm (magnesium in a powder form)~CQ10~Iodine drops~and 300 mg. of resveratrol. My heart is much better and thanks to you wonderful and supportive people I am not scared and depressed like before~thank you and God bless you!

EDTA Chelation
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines) on 04/05/2010

Hi Robert...Although EDTA chelation therapy clears plaque from within the smaller blood vessels, current research has found that it does not have much effect on the bigger arteries near the heart.

A relatively new discovery, recent research has also found that dilute solutions of hydrogen peroxide -- by way of chelation IV therapy -- DOES successfully clear plaque and obstructions near the heart.

There is a therapy called CHELOX THERAPY that combines both the EDTA and Hydrogen peroxide chelation therapies which has been quite successful. See this link here:

http://www.website-articles.net/Article/Chelox-Therapy---Chelation-Therapy--A-Common-Purpose/30980

As well -- regarding your heart arrythmia problems -- you might like to try three further protocols:

* Taking magnesium supplements -- such as Mag Chloride, Mag Citrate or Mag Gluconate.

* Taking baths with two cupfuls of Magnesium chloride or Epsom salt crystals. This method uses transdermal absorbtion by the skin of the body to absorb the Magnesium. I also use a simple garden sprayer -- 8 oz of water plus 2 tablespoons of Epsom Salts -- and just spray it all over my body after a shower and let it dry and be absorbed. This is the fastest, safest way to get your magnesium levels up. See this link:

* Take mega-doses of vitamin C. Linus Pauling, a double winner of the Nobel prize went on to study vitamins. He has proved by research (which the medical profession has completely ignored), that taking 4-6 GRAMS of Vitamin C with 4-6 GRAMS L-Lysine, an amino acid, removes plaque and heart blockages. Pauling also referred to the arterial plaque as "Arterial Scurvy". See these links here:
http://www.hearttechnology.com/pauling_therapy.html

http://ehealthforum.com/health/topic10681.html

The two magnesium protocols I've mentioned also got rid of my regular episodes of racing heart. I also found that I could sleep much better, and it raised my energy levels. I'm over 60 y o bye the way. My determination of my own problem was that my calcium intake was both too high and unregulated because of low magnesium in my body.

Magnesium is very important for your body and is involved in over 300 major enzyme processes. It is also involved in the regulation of calcium in the tissues(think arterial plaque) and magnesium is also critical to the heart muscle(or heartbeat) -- being the important part of the relaxation process.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Cayenne pepper helped me somewhat, for arrythmia. But then, after a while, joint pain and tendinitis kicked in. The cayenne pepper sensitized me to nightshades and now I can no longer eat tomatoes, potatoes, peppers etc. So, while cayenne helped a little, in the long run I have nightshades to add to my long list of allergens. What did help me was to get off of a vegan diet and eat meat again. At least it helped me for a year or so. Now, the arrythmia is back again. Sigh!

Cayenne
Posted by Perry (Wisconsin Rapids, Wi) on 05/09/2017

I mix my cayenne with magnesium citrate and take 100 mlligrams two or three times a day. I put it into capsules so it goes down easily. The magnesium has a natural soothing effect on the stomach, and yes, it helps with the heart issues, but I'm unable to say for sure that it alone is making the arrhythmias subside, since I also incorporate the other nutrients as well as ACV. Coffee seems to have very little to do with my arythmias, as they would come as often and as strong with or without coffee.

Olive Oil
Posted by Floriana (Dallas, TX) on 01/01/2009

I think you're making a point here. I have been diagnosed with acid reflux so I am trying to watch what I eat. So I recently started to use only extra virgin olive oil, to cook or in salads. I buy the Walmart brand, probably no more than a small bottle a month. This because I heard on a TV show what the other oils can do to our health... Now I realize that I started having palpitations and trouble breathing about 2 months ago, kind of the time since I switched to extra virgin olive oil. Because I don't use this oil daily, maybe this is why I have days when I feel great and days when I have palpitations. Probably we'll find an answer here.

The fact is, my doctor recommended - of course! - Alprozalam and then Valium. Oh, boy! I didn't take any of them. I started taking Multivitamins, Omega3, Magnesium Chloride and St. John's Wort, instead, for about 2 weeks. I also felt a strange urge to eat a lot of lemons or limes, like never! I carried them in my purse. Whenever the palpitations or the trouble breathing started, a few bites of lemon calmed down everything. Then I didn't use the oil for a while, as I said, I rarely use it in food... I also slowed down on lemons. Few days after I finished the bottle of St. John's Wort, I had palpitations again. I thought that interrupting St. John's Wort was the cause, so I started taking it again. But it didn't work. Now I start to make the connection. Both after I interrupted St. John's Wort and after I restarted using it, I used some of the olive oil. I noticed that I have a weird reaction after eating something with that oil, either raw or cooked, several times. Though, I blamed it on the other ingredients or some bad food combination I might have made. Now I'll definitely stay away from that oil, and I'll also make some research on it, to see what is going on. Thanks for mentioning it!

Hello Tommy,

There are probably lots of other remedies but Dr Dean has received various awards from the British arrythmia society for her work involving Magnesium And Arrythmia. In the US and UK, not to mention China etc, much of the soil is depleted of magnesium and other vital minerals because of intensive mono agriculture and chemical fertilisers like phosphates and nitrates which remove magnesium from the soil. So no matter if you eat a truck load of spinach, if it's been grown in magnesium depleted soil, you will get lots of fibre but no magnesium - which is why she advocates taking liquid magnesium - but whatever sort works for you.

Also, Ashwagandha herb is very helpful for heart health. I put my husband on it 6 weeks ago after a herbalist/ naturopath recommended it and his BP has come down so his doctor has taken him off his diuretic BP pill, and halved the dose of the other tablet which means he gets to sleep through the night without having to run to the loo. He's well over retirement age so I guess if it works well for him, you might think about researching it perhaps.

Good luck and blessings.

Hi there all, I have had it for some years, after coming off very high doses of steroids, which are not advised now, (I had temporal arteritis and was terrified of going blind or stroke) anyway thats all over long ago but I am sure it was a side effect from 2 years of steroids.

Did many things, any herbs, etc, Taurine helped somewhat, but did not stop them, expensive trying all these natural things but worth it etc, but the most powerful thing for me is Ubiquinol, its the activated form of Co-enzyme Q10. That Co EQ10 did nothing for me but when a darling naturopath in a big health shop said to me the Ubiquinol is effective, I found after a month that there was no more episodes of arrythmia, well not completely but nearly completely, there has been no natural things come anywhere near as powerful to me as this Ubiquinol 150mg morning and late afternoon too. Honestly best thing ever. But I must remember that we are all unique and what is great for my body may be a little different for yours, but after years of serious arrythmia, initially in and out of Emergency a few times, till I took the occasional beta blocker but felt like Lerch looks like in the Adams Family, blow that.

I hope this is a help to somebody as it is such an insecure feeling not knowling when an episode is coming and I did not want ablation as it sometimes works and sometimes not and I don't want anything in hospitals at their mercy, thank God for Ubiquinol. I take it in a well known brand in Australia with integrity, Herbs of Gold. And this is not an advertisement. One blog site would not accept my testimonial saying I was advertising.

Wonderful site, thankyou all for sharing.

Both are diuretics.

You may benefit from electrolytes, potassium, magnesium - but probably avoid sodium. Caffeine will cause the body to eliminate potassium and hang on to sodium, so avoiding sodium when using caffeine in your case may be a good idea. But sodium helps with detox and hydration, so avoiding caffeine is likely the better plan. 🌞

Thanks Patti. I have just recently started taking the 1/2 mg of clonazepam a couple hours or less before I go to bed, because the Dr. thinks that it's anxiety causing the PVCs. Many nights, I wouldn't take it at all, and about 2:00 am, I would go ahead a reach for at least 1/3 of mg, to try to get to sleep. I've not taken these every day until lately. The Dr. actually wants me to take them twice per day, but like you, I don't want their effect to become addictive an unuseful. Clonzepam is the only anti-anxiety med that has helped me over the last 25 years. Xanax or Ativan did not help. Right now, nothing is seeming to help at night. I guess I should try to take 1/3 mg about mid afternoon, and then another 1/3 mg about an hour before bed. Perhaps the mid afternoon one would already have me in a relaxed state. I thank you for your input and will try to take less dosage, and not "more", I'm also on beta blocker- Sectral, which helps the speed of the heart, and blocks some adrenalin, but not enough to keep it from skipping.

Claire Weeks has some good books out (very old ones) about the heart being "sensitized" from anxiety or stress, and once it gets that way, it takes weeks or sometimes months to get it back to relaxing, not releasing the chemicals in body. I need to re-read those books. I am going through a lot of changes in my life right now. Not the woman "change" though- I'm 59. But several others in my life....that could have brought these on at night- when my body is tired. I've had problems with insomnia for months or longer, but did not usually have PVCs with it....

Thanks again. any other comments highly appreciated!!

Jessica, my husband has a terrible family heart history and also has arrythmia. If he stays off caffeine, it rarely flares up. A tablespoon of Blackstrap Molasses daily is highly nutritious and helpful to many. It is good for muscles and the heart is a muscle. Also, cayenne pepper. You can get capsules with ginger in them, which is also good for the heart and makes it easier on the stomach. Mrs. Hill

I had a cardiac ablation from a dr who put me on atenolol.. I had to be wheelchaired into the hospital and 3 days later walked out in perfect health... I had it done at New England Medical Center, Boston... The operation is nothing.. The anxiety before it is not good. But knowing what I do now, I'd have it done in a heartbeat (pun intended. ) Before I went in my resting pulse was 160, if I walked it would go up to close to 200 and I would just about pass out... The punchline is I never even had HBP once in my life.. But a dr talked me into going on it for "preventative reasons. " I was ignorant of the facts back then... 10 years ago and feeling fine.. They ablated 12 places where the extra heartbeats were coming from... The procedure is nothing.

There's some research that Taurine might be one of the most important amino acids to regulate the heartbeat. The research paper on the link below discusses how someone who had 20, 000 irregular heartbeats per day eliminated them with Taurine (along with L-Arginine). The paper says that the people involved in this particular study had tried many other supplements prior to Taurine, but Taurine (with L-Arginine) was the answer for them

See George Eby Research site.

They were using very, very heavy doses (10 - 20 grams per day). For a starter dose, one could take 3 grams per day of Taurine in 3 divided doses of 1 gram (the paper says to take with meals, but I have heard that it's better on an empty stomach so that it doesn't compete with other amino acids for absorption). According to what I have read, there are no side effects for dosages up to 3 grams. Beyond that, you might want to do some searching on the internet to check on this. Overall though, it seems that Taurine is pretty safe, but it's probably best to start with small doses and build up.

From the link, it seems that L-Arginine does have side effects (sometimes severe), so proceed with caution with L-Arginine, or just supplement with Taurine and see what happens.

Dianne, i and my son battle with irregular heartbeats. What works well for us is iodine...and NATURAL salt. I used to eat 9 grams of Taurine and 800mgs of Magnesium and that worked fairly well, but I just couldn't see myself keeping t hat up. How could my body need that much Taurine? Check out iodine and natural salt. John

Robert, I have self converted with Taurine and a few other supps, but not that quantity, 20gms seems like a load. I have used mostly 1 gm Taurine combined with 1000 mgs Hawth for PVCs, which works well, so increasing that dosage perhaps will work to convert. I'd try that before 300 mg of Flecainide.

I am 78 and stunned that some young people have arrythmia. I wouldn't have known I had it if the cardiologist had not told me and I had not seen it on the monitor. It looks like I am lucky only to have the problem at my age. I had a stent put in about three months ago for narrowing of an artery. I was put on heavy blood thinners including warfarin, aspirin and plagrol. Warfarin is a terrible drug. Caused heavy bleeding. My blood was one tenth of the correct thickness. I am now on Xarelto, aspirin and Plagrol all of which are blood thinners. I can stop the Plagrol six months after the stent op.

Unfortunately, I also needed my prostate removed about a month after the stent op. I experienced excessive bleeding which has now thankfully stopped. I was bleeding so badly sometimes it looked as if there was no water in the toilet, only blood. I have to admit I might have injured the wound. The doc took me off Xarelto temporarily to try and stem the blood flow but I am back on it again. I was put on Arycor for the arrythmia. The doc told me not to let my heart rate exceed 100. I bought a heart rate monitor which shows I still have arrythmia so what is the Arycor doing? I walk to get fit. You can't do anything, barely sneeze, without exceeding 100 so how am I supposed to get fit?

Anyhow, the point of this long story

is that Arycor causes dizziness, loss of coordination and uncontrolled movements. Nearly fell on my wife once. Had a nasty accident on my bike. I put all this down to Arycor. Now the doctor wants to replace the Arycor with Dilatrend, a beta blocker. I don't know if this is the way to go so I read this site with great interest.

I do get short of breath walking up a steepish hill but I put it down to general unfitness and the severe blood loss I suffered. Any comments will be valuable.

I highly recommend 2 books by Dr Stephen Sinatra: Reverse Heart Disease Now, and The Sinatra Solution Metabolic Cardiology. I use both of them from time to time when issues come up. Husband had a stent implanted some years ago, and I credit these books that he has had no issues with the stent. He takes no prescription drugs for cardiovascular issues. If we listened to drs, he would be on lots. He will soon be 82.

My Hubs had this, had 8 places that had to be repaired in his heart. The surgery is preformed by a physician specially trained in the electric circuitry of the heart. Recovery has taken 3 full years, is in Normal Sinus Rhythm now.

While waiting for surgery he had a very low blood pressure and heart rate often to 120. He got some relief by soaking feet 2x a week in epsom salt/magnesium water. Magnesium deficiency will increase irregularity.... Arrhythmia is caused by an "electrical short" in the conduction of electricity in the heart. If anyone had an ablation, you need to have one to repair the new places that sometimes occur.25% of all ablation surgeries need some touch-up surgery to correct malfunctions.

One other cause of arrhythmia is a cervical vertebrae that is out of alignment. if you have a tender spot in neck around the cervical 5-6, ...it caused arrhythmia on me. I put it back in alignment by putting ellbows on high chest(to remove stress off vertebrae, and rotated head slowly in small circles.. )

Hi Amy from Vancouver, Hi Michael from Temes: I have stopped adding the baking soda with the cider vineger each time of use I found that may be the baking soda was neutralising the acid in the cider vineger hense making the baking inactive this is only an asumption but it seems to have a neutralising affect of the acid in the vineger otherwise I would not be able to tolerate the bitterness. Does that make sense? the cider vineger has a lot of nutrients so I do take it with the baking soda to get the benefits of the nutrients occasionally I still take the baking soda 2 times a day , a friend had a lot of hip pain after suggesting to take one tspoon of baking soda 2 to 3 times a day alone in a glass she woke up without the pain in her hips , so the dose is 2 to 3 level t spoons after meals in a glass of water , I recomend purchasing Ph strips to test your Ph regularly , Ph should be Alkaline at about 7.3 as alkaline too high can also cause asophical burns too

Can I mention a few points regarding the PH of a number o things. Soil PH 7.3 for healthy plants, 7.3 PH for swimming pools, 7.3 for water in cars by using anti freeze anty boil, PH 7.3 in cosmetics and thats just a few, this is to control the acid so as it does not have an adverse affects so why not get the inside of the BODY PH 7.3 RIGHT Alan

Hello all, I am on a low sodium diet, I have found that using potassium bicarbonate is generally far better than sodium bicarbonate. Actually you could mix the two in a favorable ratio. Dr. Richard D. Moore M.D. PHD suggests 4:1 of K to Na as an ideal ratio in general for the diet.

A source for potassium bicarbonate (food grade) is from wine maker suppliers as some wines require it's use during some stages of production. Presque Isle (online) is where I buy mine. Https://www.piwine.com/cgi-piwine/sb/productsearch.cgi?storeid=*148c4f20af3d50c710744125

Hi, I stumbled accross this site and just want to say a big thankyou for the helpful info. I am 49 and have had a dual chamber pacemaker (several) since I was 27. I have suffered with a multitude of different types of arrhythmias which the doctors just label sick sinus syndrome. More recently I have had episodes of VT. They tried several meds that my body just rejected and nearly killed me. Wanted to try burning my heart & if that didn't work - try putting a defribulator in. Providing I survive an op to take out all the current leads in there. That sent me on a path to find my own answers.

I would like to share with all the women sufferers out there not to discount the benefits of natural progesterone. Have to import it as in my country it is not available. (they just want to kill you with chemicals) I learnt a lot from reading the book 'what your doctor may not tell you about menopause' by John R Lee MD.

I also have been taking herbal medicine prescribed for me by a authentic Chinese doctor.

The combination of these has helped 50%. Im still not out of the woods yet which prompted my search.

I have followed the links and intend to start trying the vitamin methods as well. So thanks again I had started to give up. I knew there must be another way.

According to the book, The Magnesium Miracle, one of the most absorbable forms of magnesium [after an IV of magnesium] is magnesium oil [magnesium chloride] which is absorbed through the skin. Next would be magnesium glycinate, magnesium taurate & magnesium orotate. Magnesium citrate is fourth which is most popular due to it's cost. Magnesium oxide is a distant fifth and is poorly absorbed.

Mikec... You have alot that is wrong with your body, but I'm sure you can cure most of this yourself. Virtually all of what I'm recommending is from Ted's advice on this site. So far, I've had my own problems(all cured now) and I've made a detailed study of Ted's remedies and know them fairly well now -- although it has to be said that Ted is continually discovering new remedies and changing his old ones, so sometimes it's hard to keep up!!

I'll try and address your problems one by one. Here is what I would do:

Heart Problems
1. Adopt Linus Paulings Heart Protocol -- Every day take at least 6-8 GRAMS of Sodium Ascorbate per day together with 6 - 8 GRAMS of Lysine(Amino Acid). Take this in water in three or four split doses outside mealtimes per day. I buy Ascorbic Acid powder(from Thailand) and I convert it to ascorbate by adding Sodium Bicrbonate(Baking Soda -- Arm and Hammer brand -- you can buy this at any SM or Robinsin's mall very cheaply) until the fizzing stops. One month on Linus Pauling's Protocol should show significant results. See and hear more on Pauling's heart remedy protocol here:

http://www.paulingtherapy.com/

2. Heart Arrhythmia: Take large dose Magnesium - as Mag Citrate, Mag Chloride or Mag Gluconate - about 1000 mgms with water in split doses, for about 3 days then reduce dosage to about 500 mgs daily. If the larger dose cuses loose stools, just cut back a bit on the dose. This is what I did for my own arrhythmia, dizzyness and night cramps and I was cured in days. All diets -- including water -- these days seriously lack magnesium.

3. Stay away from sugar and calcium. No sugar or sweets, no dairy. Calcium in excess acidifies the body and is not good for the heart muscle. No sweetners allowed, no aspartame or sacharrine etc.

4. Take more potassium.

5. If you take any salt -- make sure its only natural sea salt NOT processed salt. Sea salt is easily and cheaply purchased in the markets here in the Philippines.

6. Take Lugol's Iodine. You can buy this easily in Bangkok, Thailand -- just go to Radjdamnearn Rd near the palace. Get a taxi to the winged monument and get out -- plenty of chemical supplies in that road. I got mine at Vidhyasom Lmtd. You can get Lugol's, Mag Chloride, Vit C powder and Borax there(chemical grade) very cheaply. I currently take about 12-13 mgs lugols(2 drops 5% lugols) in water every other day(sometimes mixed with vit c in solution). Helps me sleep, keeps me regular and protects my intestines against fungi, bacteria etc.

Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide

You can certainly take these together but you stomach problems would be helped more if you took just 1/4 tspn Baking soda with 1/2 glass of water approximately 1/2 hour after eating(or when the food has moved out of the stomach. ). This will aid digestion, preventing acidity and pains and will also help to preserve the bicarbonates in your pancreas to be used instead to alkalize your body.

I also just use the TELSTAR 10% by volume hydrogen peroxide(which is 3% H202) sold in the Philippines because there is nothing else. Been using it internally for 4-5 years now with no problems.

Stomach Pains

This sounds like it could be helicobacter pylori bacteria causing a problem. Here is what Ted has to say about it:

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "I noted a simple cure of H. Pylori involves the same remedy as the acid reflux. The key is to reduce the stomach acidity and decreases the time the food spends in the stomach. Sour food, such as fruit juices, and other sour food would cause the stomach to digest the food slower (this is a known fact by even conventional medicine), and results in acid reflux. Adding 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda or 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda along with the foods we eat, with reduce sourness in the food and sweetness, can prevent H. Pylori from growing. Drinking plenty of water would also reduce the colonies as H. Pylori are acid lovers. In general I would also take 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda once in the morning and once before bedtime in 1/2 glass of water. But I may also take a 1/8 or'1/4 teaspoon of baking soda along with the food to reduce its acidity and decrease the time the food spends in the stomach, so that the H. Pylori, can persist. This has worked generally well. One secret why I never get H. Pylori is that when I eat food, I always eat going back and forth drinking water. In generally I drink between 2-3 glasses (usually 3) of water during meals, not counting all the other glasses of water I take when there' no meal. Hence, I can easily exceed the required 8 glasses per day just counting the number of glasses of water I drink in a day, which amounts to at least 9 glasses of water a day. Between meals, I may drink between 1-2 glasses just because I feel the need. The key therefore is just to add baking soda. Some people want to maintain a sodium/potassium ratio. In that case, a 1/4 baking soda plus 1/8 potassium bicarbonate in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Some baking soda is needed during meals. Do not add too much baking soda. It has a laxative effect during meals, but it does decrease the time the food spends in the stomach and H. Pylori dies of starvation in an alkaline medium. "

Sodium Bicarbonate Tablets
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines) on 12/19/2010

Hi Ripple... I'm not Ted, but I was the one who responded to Mikec. In answer to your questions:

If you don't drink water then digestion is impaired. There are three stages to digestion. First in the mouth -- an alkaline environment -- where the enzymes in the saliva begin to help digest carbohydrates. Then in the acid stomach who's main function is to begin protein digestion, to kill bad microbes and to break up the food in the stomach through muscular contractions. The final and the most important part of digestion begins in the duodenum -- in an alkaline evironment. If you do not drink enough water with your meal, then the stomach chyme will remain too dry and will not break up so well for next stage digestion in the duodenum. Also, if not enough water is taken, both the hydrochloric acid in the stomach and the protein enzymes will not be spread evenly throughout the food to properly digest food and kill bacteria, leading to problems. If the stomach chyme squirted into the duodenum is fairly dry and thick, then same thing -- poor digestion results and since the chyme needs to be neutralized to slightly alkaline by bicarbonates from the pancreas first for this next digestion stage to work, and if this is incomplete then this could lead to an acid intestine and other problems like candida.

The reason I drink 1/2 baking soda or sodium bicarbonate in half a glass of water half an hour after meals is to aid digestion and to preserve the bicarbonates in my pancreas. By taking sodium bicarbonate in water when the food has moved out of the stomach into the duodenum -- I help turn the acid chyme from the stomach into an alkaline environment for proper digestion in the duodenum. Also, by not using the bicarbonates from the pancreas, then these bicarbonates will be released into the blood, thereby helping to alkalize my blood.

Next - Calcium. The reason Ted advises against taking Calcium supplements is simple. All foods now in the West are too heavily fortified with calcium. Corn Flakes, rice and grains, milk, other drinks, pastries -- everything is heavily fortified with calcium now. So, on a daily basis, the western diet has too much calcium. Calcium in excess acidifies cells and is therefore bad for you. But taking calcium in the correct amounts with the other major electrolytes -- Magnesium, Sodium and Potassium -- needed for your body is good for you. This is why Ted insists that you don't have to take calcium supplements in a western diet -- because western foods are loaded with calcium already. Also, it is worthwhile supplementing potassium and magnesium in the western diet as these minerals are always lacking. Magnesium is used in over 300 enzyme reactions in your body and is also the mineral that helps to regulate calcium in your cells and bones. And if you take salt -- make sure its natural sea salt -- more alkaline than processed salt. From my own experience, I also would admit that regularly taking these four minerals in the correct amounts has made a significant difference in my own health and life.

My ideal meal for candida would be a thin, unfancy Chinese style vegetable soup with chicken or fish chop suey. Lots of stir-fried veg, with a small mount of white meat.

EC: Hi Bill, Can you clarify "1/2 baking soda". Thanks so much.

Sodium Bicarbonate Tablets
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines) on 12/19/2010

Sorry about the mix up EC!! .... Typing too fast. To clarify dosages of sodium bicarbonate -- I take 1/2 tspn sodium bicarbonate in half a glass of water. I also take 1/2 tspn of sodium bicarbonate with two tablespoons ACV or with a squeezed lime or with a squeezed lemon in half a glass of water. I also know that Ted recommends 1/4 and 1/2 tspn amounts of Sodium bicarbonate and this seems to cause some confusion. The reason I take 1/2 tspn amounts of sodium bicarbonate in the above remedies is because I'm a 200 lbs guy and it suits me. If you are of a significantly lower weight or you have problems with 1/2 tspn amounts then use 1/4 tspn amounts of sodium bicarbonate with the above remedies.

The way I use these alkalizing remedies is that if I feel fine, I'll take one of them maybe once a day. If I'm tired or run down, I'll increase dosage to two or three times a day(for one alkalizing remedy). Dosages and frequency are up to you because everyone's weight and metabolism are different and everyone has different problems - so you will have to adjust your own dosages accordingly. As you become more aware of your body and more intimate with these remedies, you will be able to just know what dosages to take for yourself almost by instinct. That's been my own experience over the last five years or so of using these remedies anyway.

To all: The entire cardiovascular and cancer research pretty much, done by Dr. Linus Pauling (d. 1994) and his less well known co-researcher Dr. Matthias Rath who actually was Dr. Pauling's mentor in Vitamin C therapy after he retired at 65 in order to pursue this, can be found in a few key documents on Dr. Rath's site here:
http://www4.dr-rath-foundation.org/

Select the SCIENCE tab, then SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS:
http://www4.dr-rath-foundation.org/THE_FOUNDATION/scientific_publications.html

Among the discoveries made by Dr. Rath the following rank highest:

1. The discovery that atherosclerosis, heart attacks and strokes are an early form of scurvy caused by a chronic vitamin deficiency of the vascular wall. Read about it in Dr. Rath's book 'The Heart'. (PDF, 1. 43 MB)

http://www4.dr-rath-foundation.org/pdf-files/heart_book.pdf

Looking at the TOC inside, Arrythmia is in CH. 6, on Page 96. This has been freely available online since 2001, and the Pauling scientific studies were released in the early 1990's just a few years before Dr. Pauling died. But some slides are like an open-face book, there are two pages per slide. So in the PDF doc, if you put 96 into the page box and expect to get there, you'll note there are only 96 pages or slides total, so you'd be on the very last page. The correct number to put in the box above is '48'. This gets you to Chapter 6 Arrythmia. In here is the case studies, dosages and frequency, etc. For the various supplements, minerals, Vitamin C and amino acids!

Richard, I developed arrythmia issues last year and was put on 25 mg Toprol, which I have recently stopped taking (didn't like the side effects and slowly reduced the amount). I researched it and from this website learned that lactic acid can build up in all our muscles (including the heart).. And can cause the arrythmia. I believe that I had exercised so much, was eating yogurt (has lactic acid in it), and the combination of electrolytes being down, the lactic acid from both working out and the yogurt, could have contributed to the arrythmia.

I have recently read a book call The Magnesium Factor by Seelig and Rosanoff which has explained how most Americans are seriously low in magnesium. Since stopping the Toprol and reading the book, I take 1 tsp of magnesium powder before going to bed (I use a product called CALM I found in the health food store, not sure who makes it... ). I'm having a 48-hr halter monitor test Thursday and Friday this week (cardiologist was upset when I told them I gradually stopped the Toprol on my own... They say people don't usually go off it. I didn't want to stay on it for life! ). Not sure how old you are, but some of us remember Jim Fixx who got Americans running, and then up and died of a heart attack one day, which was pretty confusing to the masses. It could be that lactic acid & low levels of magnesium (an electrolyte) contributed to it. By the way, I also don't drink coffee and instead use a tablespoon of blackstrap molasses (has potassium) in hot water as a drink at work. Hope this helps...Anne

I had bad heart arithymia about 8-9 years ago.

I was at the point they were going to put the pacemaker in, as I was in filbilation all of the time. A new heart Dr.Was added to the practice and he told me lets try something they had been working on at the university. So I had two weeks to get better basically (from what I remember), he put me on slow magnesium 2 pills a day. My heart before the end of the two weeks started to beet normal. However if I don't take it for several months the fililations returns. I for some reason am normal to low on the blood test, but they don't know why.

Roman, I was a jogger of 6-8k 4 times a week when I came down with AF at 56. After 4 years of several cardios/EPs treating symptoms and Meds that never work or lose effectiveness, Im med/allopathic medicine free. Its not any one activity/diet etc that brings on arrhythmia, but any and all including raising LA in our bodies that depletes the number one mineral our hearts crave, Magnesium. Strenuous exercise is moving up the ladder, however it has a long way to go to catch 1.Alcohol and 8. Caffeine as Mag depletors. Your Mag intake is too low. 400mg is fine for normal people, but were not normal. Plus, gylcinate is very difficult to absorb and hold in, possibly only getting 100mg in your blood. I take on average, 800mg along with a few other things and increase that to 1200-2000mg depending on heart feeling and getting back to NSR. I use Mag Malate and Mag Oil.

I also am back to drinking moderately, mostly wine a few times a week and drinking coffee 1-2 cups in the morning. Just know I have to load up on the Mag when I do this.

Hi Bruce.

Info Fyi...54 Year old, not super fit, not super unfit, non smoking woman here. Average person, average weight. Moderate drinker.

I get low heart rate (48 BPM) and heart palpitations. It's weird, when my BP is high, I have a low heart rate, when my BP is low....the opposite. I notice that my heart rate picks up if I eat something. Maybe it is a blood sugar issue?

Since I began taking 40,000 units of Serrapeptase about ten days ago, my blood pressure has been WAY lower, and NO palpitations! From what I have read about Serrapeptase, it makes the blood thinner, and helps clean out the arteries by consuming fiberin. Something you may want to google....Serrapeptase.

I have also been upping my magnesium, (Threonate and Malate) and taking at LEAST 500mg a day. As a man, I believe you could safely take 200mg more than that, until you have loose stools, which is the most reliable way to know you have reached your limit. Mg is also complimented by vitamin B6. Read up on that too if interested. There are Many co-factors for magnesium.

Another thing...consider chiropractic for the Vegas Nerve. I also started getting my upper back (C7) adjusted two weeks ago after reading that may help some people with AFIB. My upper back has been a source of misery for me for decades....and I was thinking...even if it didn't help the palps, maybe I could get some back relief. It is helping both, I believe.

Just some alternative type of things to consider, and possibly "Google". I know how awful palpitations are, and hope you figure yours out! Good luck!

We all share what is true for us, and people can either take it, or leave it...the point is sharing our experiences and attempting to maybe help even one other person. Nothing is written in stone for each individual...nor should it be!

Doctor Blaylock is an interesting read. Also, look on youtube for some talks by a Doctor Frank Shallenberger. He has some very interesting lectures as well. Not all will apply to you, but the ones that do, are just awesome.

MSG and glutamates....horrible stuff. Taurine (an amino acid) counteracts MSG. It competes with it in your system. My husband would get heart palpitations after eating a French dip with the au jus at a certain restaurant. I tasted the au jus, and it literally burned my tongue. Not because it was hot...because it felt like so Damned CHEMICAL. So anyway, that was when I looked up what counteracts MSG....turns out is it the amino acid Taurine.

Because my husband continues to eat fast / ie CRAP foods....I make sure his daily vitamins include a 500mg of taurine daily. He has not had another horrid reaction for a couple of years now.

I am rambling...just wanted to say that I am glad you found Earth Clinc, and welcome aboard!

Dear Arturo,

I use either Lugol's iodine (liquid) or Iodoral (tablet). I get either from amazon or iherb.

I used to purchase small gelatine capsules from the pharmacy and fill them with cayenne. Much easier to take that way.

Sea Salt

Be careful with any salt you take. My SIL swore by the pink Himalayan salt. I bought a bag, and put it in my salt shakers. Just used that for cooking, etc... Immediately, my heart rhythm started messing up. It made the adrenalin surge through my body. I found myself getting on the treadmill two-three times a day, trying to work it off, and then at night, it would still flare up. It took me 3-4 days to figure out "what am I doing different???" It dawned on me about the Himalayan salt, I stopped using that, and immediately, I was back to normal. I gave my bag to my SIL since it actually helps her. There is something in it that she needed, but worked against me. I'm having problems now again- just at night mostly, but it's due to stress or anxiety about us making a move, or lack of something in my diet. But there was a 4-6 week period of relief after quitting the Himalayan salt. I don't salt my food a lot. I have noticed that if I eat anything salty early in the day- like for breakfast, it will induce heart skips. I've lived with a sensitive heart to adrenalin for 30 plus years. Still don't have it all figured out

Right now I'm trying the CALM plus Calcium (it has magnesium in it and couple other things), and a supplement of Mag/Cal/zinc. Also trying the Apple cider vinegar, twice a day in a little apple cider, and 1 TBL, twice a day of black strap molasses. I'm also on a beta blocker- twice a day (Sectral)- been taking that for 25 years- and every time I try to get off of it, the heart starts racing- so it really does help.

Also take very mild doses of Clonzepam when especially needed. Must be careful not to take that too often though- or it becomes ineffective and habit forming. Although, my doctor said it's good to take it for a week or so when going through a bad stressful time.

Sea Salt

When you start on celtic sea salt and magnesium and minerals you have to start slow start with a pinch in water and raise it a little every week till you get to 1/4 teaspoon in 1 pint of water and drink half your body weight in sea salt water! It can take upto a year to remineralize the heart and body, so be patient and start slow. If you do a bunch of salt at first, it will make afib worse because your body is not use to the minerals
